Yelp
Great beer, good service (most of the time), variable crowd.
This place has a fantastic rotating selection of beers from all over the world, so if you can't find something you like, you're probably not a beer person. They've usually got at least 20 on tap. The prices are definitely higher than some of the other places in town, but that's just what happens when you have people going out of their way to pick new brews on a weekly basis. They've also got a store of older, aging beers that is down in the basement. I think they might have another menu that you can look at to see what's downstairs, but don't quote me on that.
The service is usually pretty decent, but some 'keeps are better than others. The main issue I've run into is getting my passport stamped when it's busy. I've done passports at other places, and they were always diligent about making sure you "got credit" even if they were slammed. Here, on the other hand, I've definitely noticed that some of my beers never get stamped even if it's only moderately busy. I've learned to be strategic about when/who I asked. And, speaking of who, the best 'tenders are Grace and Elliot--good company, and good at what they do.
The crowd can be a little variable, from college kids, to older 20-somethings, to the occasional older ruffians. It's something I actually love about the place--all different types getting together in the same place having a good time.
And about those good times: Patrick's hosts regular events, including a live Irish band, open mic nights, etc. They usually start around 9-10. Makes for a good evening.
