Like the Room of Requirement, Patron Saint is whatever you need it to be, when you need it. Morning coffee and pastry? Check. Brunch with the girls? Check. Office for the day? Check. Post-work (or pre-work) drink? Check and check. The entrance is easy to miss, and parking around the area (Hingetown) is also hit or miss depending on the time of day. But it's almost always bustling in here, and for good reason.
First come, first serve seating anywhere you like - from booths, tables, window counter, or bar. There are outlets located at the bar and counter, if you intend to make this your camp for the day. None of the chairs are particularly comfy but the atmosphere is so charming that it's easy to forget. One of the waitstaff will magically appear and drop off a QR code, menu, and bottle of water in short order. I'm a fan of the virtual order and pay system, which allows everyone in a group to pay their tab separately without the nonsense of calculating off a shared receipt. But this can be confusing to those who haven't used it before. This also is preferable for me as someone who prefers to avoid situations where waiters ask how everything is when I've just started chewing my food, but others may be put off by the "lack of attentiveness". I've only had pleasant interactions with the staff!
Okay, so the drinks: mostly positive, with a few acquired tastes. Think lots of citrus, greens, and bread. Even many of the specialty coffee and cocktail drinks have some form of citrus. I'm a fan of the regular coffee drinks and cocktails, but have not bought into the orange and coffee combination yet.
Some of the food and pastry items do run out, and things rotate seasonally. Olive Oil Cake is ultimate comfort food. From the savory menu - things are on the pricier side. The Greens + Beans are delightful, Eggs in Purgatory is like a mini shakshuka, and salads are oh-so-fresh.
There's only one single occupancy restroom, but it's conveniently located next to a small wares section where you can admire some of the most tastefully curated collection (visually at least) of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Other giftables include Patron Saint merch, greeting cards, and specialty spices and candles.
