Yelp
Like the Room of Requirement, Patron Saint is whatever you need it to be, when you need it. Morning coffee and pastry? Check. Brunch with the girls? Check. Office for the day? Check. Post-work (or pre-work) drink? Check and check. The entrance is easy to miss, and parking around the area (Hingetown) is also hit or miss depending on the time of day. But it's almost always bustling in here, and for good reason. First come, first serve seating anywhere you like - from booths, tables, window counter, or bar. There are outlets located at the bar and counter, if you intend to make this your camp for the day. None of the chairs are particularly comfy but the atmosphere is so charming that it's easy to forget. One of the waitstaff will magically appear and drop off a QR code, menu, and bottle of water in short order. I'm a fan of the virtual order and pay system, which allows everyone in a group to pay their tab separately without the nonsense of calculating off a shared receipt. But this can be confusing to those who haven't used it before. This also is preferable for me as someone who prefers to avoid situations where waiters ask how everything is when I've just started chewing my food, but others may be put off by the "lack of attentiveness". I've only had pleasant interactions with the staff! Okay, so the drinks: mostly positive, with a few acquired tastes. Think lots of citrus, greens, and bread. Even many of the specialty coffee and cocktail drinks have some form of citrus. I'm a fan of the regular coffee drinks and cocktails, but have not bought into the orange and coffee combination yet. Some of the food and pastry items do run out, and things rotate seasonally. Olive Oil Cake is ultimate comfort food. From the savory menu - things are on the pricier side. The Greens + Beans are delightful, Eggs in Purgatory is like a mini shakshuka, and salads are oh-so-fresh. There's only one single occupancy restroom, but it's conveniently located next to a small wares section where you can admire some of the most tastefully curated collection (visually at least) of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Other giftables include Patron Saint merch, greeting cards, and specialty spices and candles.

Yelp
What a hidden gem on Detroit Shoreway! This is a bar/cafe/brunch location that does an amazing job with all three. Came here on a Saturday to get some work done, and I was absolutely blown away by the service here. Immediately we were given menus, which is in the form of a QR code. You order on your phone and pay for your tab, which I felt was an amazing use of technology. It allows the staff to focus on other parts of their job and I found that service did not falter with this. Drinks were fantastic and I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here. The decor inside is also beautiful and quite unique! Will definitely be returning

Yelp
This place was so good that I decided to bring a friend soon after my first visit here, not even a full week apart, I ordered the same thing but perhaps the temperature made all the difference. The sauce was piping hot the first time and tasted so good. This time it was served closer to lukewarm and essentially like any old pizza sauce out of a jar. Might as well have had a jammy egg in a jar of ragu. Sad to say my experience wasn't consistent. Both times I came here were not that busy either. Parking was fairly easy to find and the latte was still excellent.

Yelp
You'll feel as if you have been teleported to a ITALIAN cafe when you step into this quaint cafe, close to the west side of Cleveland on the very outskirts of downtown. I visited Patron Saint Cafe in May 2023 before they opened because Harness Collective, who owns the building where Patron Saint is located, held a final fundraising event where participants could donate money and get a tour of Harness Cycle (spin studio), Soul Yoga, and Patron Saint. So, I got to see Patron Saint before the tables and chairs were put in and before it was painted. I visited again recently on a Saturday morning in October 2023 for a business meeting then again in early November in the afternoon to finish my work day there. I got to chat with the owner, Marie, when I visited alone in November and she is a joy to be around. AMBIANCE -- Inviting. I love the orange and gray ceiling colours. It's pretty noisy to work here on your laptop or even to read a book because the music is loud and was very loud when I visited around 3pm on a weekday afternoon. Nonetheless, it has a traditional cool and collected cafe vibe. FOOD -- I've tried their breakfast, a lunch item, and cake. During my business meeting in October, I ordered the Continental Breakfast ($12) -- focaccia, fruit, cured meat, and 8-minute soft boiled egg along with a cup of tea. The continental breakfast was delicious especially the focaccia bread. In early November 2023, I ordered the Roasted Squash $12 (delicata squash, lentil salad, burrata). I forgot this came with cheese which I don't really like so I removed the burrata from my plate. The lentils needed more flavour and seasoning but the squash tasted good. DRINKS -- I recommend the MOUNTAIN TEA ($5) which is a herbal tea with sage and mint and it was very refreshing. I don't drink COFFEE so I can't comment on that but they sell coffee. DESSERT -- The Olive Oil cake ($8) is OUT OF THIS WORLD good!! It's super sweet and delicious. It pairs perfectly with a hot cup of tea. It was too sweet to finish so I took about almost half back home with me. I took a photo of this cake but it did not attach directly to this review but you can still find it and view it here on Patron Saint's cafe Yelp business page. SERVICE -- Efficient and attentive. I highly recommend Patron Saint. It's a woman-owned local business that is new to town (opened in June 2023). This Italian-inspired cafe and Aperitivo Bar will definitely be the talk of the Hingetown / Ohio City neighbourhood for months to come. **** - 88/150 total reviews in 2023 - 639 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 1 December 2023

Yelp
Came for dinner, but probably better during the daylight hours. This space was beautifully converted from a 'tile showroom' to this quaint Italian style restaurant/cafe. The archways and high ceilings combined with the overall design give the traditional space a modern flair. They share the space with a cycle spin class on the other side of the building and a yoga studio. upstairs. They have a restroom available. Being on a ground floor makes for easy access for baby strollers to get through. There is only street parking available. No reservations accepted. It is walk-in only. Not sure if there is wifi, but someone was working on his laptop when we arrived. A server came by to notify us to scan the bar code and place an order on the app. She mentioned an apertivo menu that has a few small plates and drink specials. You also pay for the meal & tip via app. So, there is little interaction with the server. The app may be good for efficiency on a busy night, but it can be a bit awkward not having an actual server come by to explain the menu or answer any questions throughout dinner. We got up a few times to ask questions and request extra silverware. We tried all vegetarian options for dinner - including the roasted squash (good, but the lentils were bland and needed some seasoning), broccoli melt (surprisingly good - the sauce makes the sandwich), and chickpea piadina (good; sorta like a spanakopita, but made with pita bread and could have fresh mint?). The olive oil cake is phenomenal! That is a must order! The apertivo menu only has one vegetarian option, which is black pepper chips & a basic ricotta dip. So, we opted not to get that. Overall, decent food but could use a few enhancements. Serving sizes are on the smaller side. We ordered 2 broccoli melts between three people combined with the other items for dinner. Perhaps we could have gotten one more item to walk out stuffed. I prefer paper menus and more interaction with servers. The app was a little confusing to see if our order was placed and keeping track of what we ordered. Seated on the opposite side of the bar area, we felt a bit separated from serving staff and we weren't checked on as often as we normally would at other restaurants (especially considering it was a slow evening). I'd like to come back and try this place for a more casual breakfast/lunch experience. Definitely need to come back for another slice of the olive oil cake and try one of the lattes.

Yelp
What a beautiful little surprise in Ohio City! Patron Saint is tucked away behind a door with their logo, but this find is a heaven for vegan food and drinks. They offer a full bar and cafe menu with food. Allergens are clearly marked and when you order through your QR code, you can request modifications to items to make them vegan. Their chickpea piadina was delicious and their coffee "cocktails" are fun and not overpriced. Highly recommend for a coffee date, studying, or getting drinks with friends after work!

Yelp
Super nice spot. Great menu, ambiance, and lighting. Great for drinks with friends, coffee, lunch or grab lunch. Fun drink menu, and very friendly staff.

Yelp
If you're searching for European style cafe vibes, chill ambiance, bold coffee drinks, and light homemade brunch fair step inside Patron Saint's cozy confines for some delicious eats.

Michelle S.

Yelp
Inventive and delicious drinks of all kinds and food that is inventive, looks beautiful, and is absolutely delicious.

Yelp
This is such a cute European cafe/bar plopped in the middle of Cleveland! I loved the blended concept, where people could have coffee and get work done or hang out over drinks and small plates. I went for dinner & drinks one weekday evening and had a lovely time. You can order and start/pay your tab on your phone using the QR code at the table - very convenient. We had a couple aperitifs and shared a bunch of their dishes, including the fried oysters with cucumber, roasted carrots, ricotta cheese dip, green beans with tomatoes, and of course a generous slice of olive oil cake. Everything was delicious! Overall, the cafe had a bright and inviting energy. The wall of floor-to-ceiling windows brought so much light into the space too, which made it seem even bigger. The staff members were also all super friendly and personable. Street Parking is plentiful on Detroit (usually). Definitely recommend visiting Patron Saint for a quick work session (as long as you don't mind the noise and overhead music), coffee break, date night, or meeting up with a friend or two!

Yelp
Loved this place so much! Patron Saint is one of the most attractive places I've been to in a while and I was disappointed in myself for not trying it sooner. Right in the center of Hingetown is the cutest little cafe and bar. The inside pays homage to the old location with rustic columns and exposed brick. The food was fantastic and the service was quick and efficient. We didn't know what to try as the menu may seem on the smaller side but everything seems to be very well curated. The lovely server guided us to some staples and they did not disappoint. - We tried the Egg Salad which had marinated artichokes, caper salsa verde, served over little gem lettuce, it was light and packed with lots of flavor. We also tried the Chickpea Piadina that had sundried tomatoes, served in a pita that came with and eggplant conserva and aioli topped with mint. This was also light and flavorful! I also indulged in a Mint Shakerato, which was just espresso shaken with fresh mint simple syrup, served over ice and was super potent and refreshing. Will definitely be coming here again and trying more things on the menu very soon!

Yelp
Beautiful spot with huge windows, tall ceilings, and a great atmosphere. Come early to work and enjoy coffee or come later in the day for ~Aperitivo~ hour. We stopped by for a pre dinner drink. Cappelletti is my favorite Aperitivo, and if you haven't tried it I recommend ordering the Grapefruit Cappelletti Spritz or ask for a Negroni Spagliatto made with half cappelletti and half Campari - yum! Rather than order from a QR code we snagged a seat at the beautiful bar. It's nice to chat with the bar tenders and be able to discuss their preferences from the menu, which led to us ordering the savory roasted carrots and bright olive oil cake.

Yelp
Patron Saints in Cleveland has won my heart with its delicious coffee and a delightful surprise in the form of olive oil cake. While the noise level was a bit high for doing work, I'm already planning my return to try their spritzes. Here's a breakdown of my experience: Coffee: The rich, smooth flavors and expertly crafted espresso-based beverages are a testament to their dedication to quality. Each sip was a caffeinated delight. Olive Oil Cake: Prepare your taste buds for a delicious surprise! Moist, fragrant, and bursting with flavor, it's a dessert that will leave you craving more. The subtle olive oil undertones and the perfect balance of sweetness make it an absolute must-try. Noise Level: The only drawback I experienced was the noise level at Patron Saints. During peak hours, the cafe can get quite loud, making it a little challenging to have a conversation without raising your voice. However, the vibrant atmosphere and bustling energy are also part of its charm. If you prefer a quieter setting, visiting during off-peak hours might be a better option. Aperol Spritz: Although I didn't get a chance to try it this time, the buzz around Patron Saints' Aperol Spritz is undeniable. Price: The prices at Patron Saints are fair for the quality of coffee and treats you receive. While it may be a tad higher than your average coffee shop, the superior taste and attention to detail make it worth the extra cost. Treat yourself to a special experience without breaking the bank. Overall, Patron Saints is an amazing addition to the Cleveland foodie scene. This new restaurant has a unique concept of cafe by day and classy bar by night.

Yelp
Cute new spot in Ohio City right on Detroit. Sat down at a table and a server greeted me and gave me menus and a QR code to order. Ordered at the table through the toast app, which was easy. Not much service from there, which was fine. I ordered the olive oil cake and a rise and shine. Both were delicious. Cake was moist and flavorful and the coffee was refreshing. I've never had a coffee with OJ in it and it was surprisingly nice. There's lots of tables, high tops and low, and they have a nice bar area as well.

Yelp
Place is easy to miss but please make it a point not to! This place takes you to another world, rather another country. Felt like I was enjoying a Saturday morning at an Italian cafe. One of the first things I fell in love with was Negroni on tap! And at 10:30 in the morning, what an eye opener ! Blessed by the toast tab gods, I love the system here: seat yourself, order from the QR code and pay online. Soooo efficient and I think more businesses should adopt this system. Our drinks came out first, I started with a mint shakerato (espresso shaken with mint syrup and served on ice). Spectacular! My boy got the Negroni, a little bitter at first but tasted better as more was consumed. The olive oil cake was highly recommended on Yelp and didn't disappoint. The lemon crème topper with slices of fresh fruit meld well for moist pastry. The chickpea handheld filled me more than I thought it would. The dipping sauce really put the pocket over the top. The food was outstanding and definitely a unique alternative to the normal brunch fare. Parking is a "Everyman for himself" situation meaning street parking, but definitely worth the hype

Yelp
The cutest new spot and addition to the area! I love that it's both a cafe and a bar. And feels like you are transported to a cafe in Europe. It's a great spot to sip coffee and get work done or grab drinks a little later in the day. Thr menu has breakfast as well as all day small plates/snacks that change seasonally. I have only tried the olive oil cake, which was delicious and not too sweet. The cocktails are also super creative and taste good. My favorite are the spritzes - there's a ton of variety and something for everyone.

Carol S.

Yelp
Great spot! We stopped by early on a Friday night and sat at the bar. They have a great cocktail menu and a good, but limited, food menu. We both enjoyed our drinks and the bar snacks we ordered. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable! We will definitely be back!

Kelli H.

Yelp
What a beautiful space! The first thing you'll be struck by is the high ceilings and nicely refurbished tile around the space. The decor is stunning and so I'm sure most will be tempted to snap pictures of the interior for Insta. The food menu is delicious. I went with a colleague for breakfast and, while the options are few, the quality of the options is high. I got the parfait which came with a delicious compote and granola. My colleague got the continental breakfast which was basically an amazing charcuterie + cheese board with breakfast-y items. I also got the basilica pepe latte - which has basil syrup and black pepper in it. Yum! Beware that the portion sizes are fairly small, and so I recommend treating these more as "small plates" than full sized breakfast portions. As far as service, this it the only aspect I think Patron Saint has some kinks to work out in. We were presented with a QR code as an option for ordering. The Toast Tab UX I think has a bit of work to be done - it wasn't intuitively clear to me or my colleague how we could ensure our checks were processed separately. But it didn't seem there was a good way to tell the staff that we'd prefer not to order via the QR code. I wish there was a way to signal this, as I firmly exist in the camp that doesn't like to order on their phone. Why should I stare at my phone to begin a meal rather than chatting with my dining partner? Additionally, my parfait was served with a regular fork and knife, and I had to get someone's attention to get a spoon. These are minor things, but things I hope the team works out as they pass these first few months. I can't wait to be back to try the dinner menu + drinks

Yelp
If you asked me to design my dream restaurant, it would be a lot like Patron Saint. The food is delicious, thoughtful, and fresh - everything on the menu sounds amazing. I had the Chef's Salad -- both very refined (beautifully balanced salt, fat, and acidity) while still playful and comforting (the roasted tomato and the crunchy croutons bring to mind a sub and slice shop) -- and the beautifully cooked Roasted Carrots -- absolutely scrumptious, and surprisingly summery thanks to the light sweetness and slight tang of the mascarpone and the light-handed cook on the carrots. For a drink I tried the Blueberry Jammer -- I wasn't familiar with Pasubio but it brought a beautifully blended bitterness to the sweet jam. I also totally unnecessarily had an Averna with tonic and lime that was a lovely end to the meal. The service is both super friendly/approachable AND very hands-off. I mean, be still my heart. You order through a QR code, and can keep your tab open as you wonder how many drinks is socially accessible at 2 in the afternoon. This sounds overzealous, but there's something empowering feeling about this kind of system - it allows you to order at your own pace, but also makes it fun to indulge in that... "oh ok maybe I will also have a cortado before I go" mindset. Most people had laptops and were working or reading and it felt like a place you go because you feel good in that place, and not just a setting for a culinary appointment. Can't recommend it enough -- I'm not from Cleveland, just stopping through on my way to NY, and I'm already planning on stopping again on my way back west to try more of the menu.

Luke G.

Yelp
So good I went twice on my short trip to Cleveland! Patron Saint's food is delicious and reasonably priced! I ate the broccoli melt, crudo, chickpea piadina, and olive oil cake, and can recommend them all! Tasty and beautifully prepared. The drinks are fantastic! I tried the summer wine (a lightweight mulled wine spritz), apple aperol spritz, spaghett (a miller high life spritz! Surprisingly amazing), and the Negroni on tap (must-have!). The space and ambiance is perfect for morning, lunchtime, or evening. It's relaxed, airy, well-lit, and clean with great music playing lightly in the background. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgable as well! I can't recommend Patron Saint enough and may come back to Cleveland just to go again!

Yelp
Interesting without being pretentious. Highly, HIGHLY recommend. Street side parking. If there's a parking lot nearby, I was oblivious to it. It is west of Hingetown and directly across the street from the Bop Stop Interior is beautiful. Extremely clean. Self seat and use a QR reader to order(which was super easy and super easy to add more food). Staff was prompt with water and available to answer any questions. Both the coffee menu and cocktail menu were very creative. The food menu caters to all food lifestyles. We tried the $12 roasted carrots and it was worth every penny! Probably the most unique, tasty combination I've had in quite awhile. Who knew carrots could be sooo good! We also had the Continental Breakfast and shared the olive oil cake - both were properly executed and phenomenal. It was such an extraordinary experience. I look forward to spending more time here.

Melissa P.

Yelp
Not sure what the hype was about this small cafe. The ice coffee I ordered was needing something. I wanted a dish but they were out so I settled for a dessert that was tasty.

Kate K.

Yelp
Patron Saint is the perfect midday spot, when you can't decide if you want coffee or a cocktail or both. Their food ranges from snack-sized to lunch-worthy, with lots of splittable smaller plates. Grab whatever table you want, then order at the bar or through the app so that you can pay (and leave) on your own timeline. With high ceilings, stone archways and vitrolite tiles, the atmosphere lends itself perfectly to the European-influenced menu -- with super-friendly service to boot!

Yelp
I recently visited Cleveland for 24 hours to visit my bestie! With little notice, she planned this extraordinarily memorable itinerary. We walked around a number of neighborhoods, but this area has an aura of great fun and hipness. She knew exactly what we were getting: Beet and Farro salad and the Chickpea Piadina. While i never would have thought of myself as a 'beet person', this truly changed my mind. You might say its a Beet and Farro salad for non-beet people because it was perfectly proportioned with the various flavors. They know how to make a great salad AND my bestie knows how to choose from a menu! (You may think its easy, but i come across those who complain after THEY picked their items off the menu!) The Chickpea Piadina has such an exotic sound but the sole complaint i have is that i wanted MORE! i loved how it was stuffed and made for such a great lunch. I was full without being sick. When finished, I felt clean and healthy because of the quality of these items. As we left, we saw people entering and then, we both agreed that we were jealous of those just entering after having such a great meal! Thank you for this great experience and we should all have a bestie who knows food like she does.

Yelp
Hmmm... seems like we've been here before. Well, yes. And we will be here again... often. Normally I would not continually harp on the same experience in the same establishment every time I go. However, today we decided to try Patron Saint Cafe for lunch rather than breakfast. Once again I must tell you. If you haven't given them a try yet you are doing yourself a terrible injustice. I've told you before how much I enjoy the breakfast menu. Well "ditto" for the lunch menu. Upon entering we were greeted by the same smiling faces as usual. Such a pleasant place to be. We greeted Marie at the bar and told her we were excited about giving lunch a try today. I asked a few questions regarding the options available and with Marie's help we settled on a marvelous combination of flavors. My wife optioned for the "Pork Meatballs" served on polenta along with summer vegetables. I decided on the "Crudo" Albacore tuna with cucumbers, capers in tomato water. I also had the "marinated Castelvetrano Olives". Along with my order I had a marvelous glass of "Ercole" an Italian red... perfecto! I'm here to tell you I was whisked back to lunch on the piazza in Florence. The combination of flavors was absolutely exceptional. So light and refreshing... it was fabulous. The way the midday meal was meant to be eaten. As if that wasn't perfect enough I decided to take this experience to another level and see if they could keep it up. I went for an "Affogato" for dessert. A simple but extraordinary combination of flavors with pistachio ice cream covered in espresso. Oh my... I have no words. I was in heaven. Well, to say I am enamored with this establishment would be an understatement. Be good to yourself. Go... just go... enjoy life.

Yelp
I went for drinks before dinner and I also went the next morning to grab a coffee before work. The food is so delicious and equally good are their spritz drinks. I had the beet spritz and it tasted savory yet sweet. We had three apertivos and they were absolutely top notch. They really understand flavor pairings. The next morning I had a basil pepper latte that the owner came up with in a dream she had. It was also so great! This place is great for a date but not good for groups over 4 people FYI. Have fun!

Jan W.

Yelp
Easy convenient way to order through the QR code. Initial service was slow but need to come back to try more tapas and what they have to offer

Taylor T.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and even better food! Went here with friends from out of town and they were also thoroughly impressed. Food is definitely fresh and not your usual which makes it memorable. I've been thinking of this place ever since I went and can't wait to go back. Everything from the coffee drinks, to the continental breakfast, carrots, and pastry was worth every bite. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to try the new menu!

Stephanie J.

Yelp
A great new addition to Hingetown! We grabbed a drink and small bites here to start our evening. The focaccia is incredible and and ambiance was really great as well! You can place your order through your phone via their ordering website and continue to place additional orders on that tab until you're ready to check out. The drinks and food came out fast.

Natalie S.

Yelp
Kind staff, great decor, and I love how the latte tastes caramel-y. Highly recommend. Great addition to Ohio City.
