"As one of Kim Bartmann’s neighborhood classics, I note Pat’s Tap is among the established local venues tied to her as she looks for investors for a new heritage grain brewpub project." - Joy Summers

Fantastic local bar with awesome service, solid food, and great atmosphere. Stopped there tonight and we were helped by a server on his first day and he did a great job! We thoroughly enjoyed our service and will definitely stop by again. The chicken harissa was especially tasty and it was fun to sit on the patio and observe the local goings-on.

Stopped into Pat’s Tap on a sunny Saturday afternoon in October. While I didn’t expect a crowd, I did not anticipate an empty bar. Two trainees were behind the bar, and while they were pleasant, you could tell they were not seasoned bar keeps. Everything about Pats’ felt disorganized and transitional. Pats’ is purported to have a Packer party on football Sundays. However, there were a few TVs scattered about the space, but the sight lines are not great. Pats’ website was cooler than the reality. I was disappointed.

Black bean burger is so good! The aioli is even better. Fries remind me of McDonald’s in size/shape. The fried pickles are decent but spears aren’t my favorite. I tried them again to give them another shot tho! They’re pretty good. The batter is hit or miss! Vibe is super cool. Bartender was also our server so the busboy/ bar back was very helpful while he was tending to customers at the bar. My friend got the fried chicken sandwich, unfortunately it was falling apart fast but she can write her own review 😂

Fantastic place to come grab a drink, somthing to eat or to even watch the game. Staff is great! Brought my dog with and they where kind enough to bring him water without me saying anything!! 10/10

Google
Pat's tap is an oasis in the bar scene of my area, there isn't another 'dive' bar within a few blocks. With that being said, the indoor atmosphere is abysmal.. It honestly feels like a cafeteria, not something relaxed and dive whatsoever. The outdoor patio is great; plenty of tables and it resides on a decent street. The food is mediocre, average at best. With all of that being said the staff is great!

Google
I wish this place was better but it’s has the vibes of a local dive with none of the charm unfortunately. The food is nothing special but not bad, though I’m always annoyed when a place has chips as the default and charges more for fries and a 3$ up charge is pretty hefty when the burgers are already around 15$. Every time I’ve been in the servers always seem scrambled even if it’s not super busy it feels like they are juggling like 10 different things at once. Again I want to like this bad really bad but it seems to be a in a limbo between upscale burger place and a local dive and it’s kind of getting the worst of both worlds

The last month or so it seems that the food has gone downhill. I was frequenting the bar about once a week for a while this summer and the vibe was great. Something changed. Not good. I love the bartenders, and I hope things get better soon.

My wife and I have been here plenty of times before and we've generally had good experiences. We decided to come back to Pat's Tap today because the weather was perfect and we wanted to sit outside with our dog. However, our experience today was a major disappointment. Our server, while very nice, was not on point. First of all she didn't introduce herself when we sat down or the entire time we were at her table. Not a huge deal, but usually that's the first thing a server does. The biggest issue came when we placed our food order (an appetizer and two sandwiches) then sat and waited 45+ minutes with no update from our server. Finally, she came back to our table and admitted "I forgot to place your food order. It doesn't happen very often, but I got overwhelmed and forgot about your order". She did take full responsibility and was very apologetic, she also comped the appetizer for us. While we appreciated her taking responsibility and apologizing, it did not make the experience better. A couple of other small things we noticed: usually the server brings a bowl of water for our dogs when we bring them, our server did not. Also, the sandwich I ordered was supposed to come with mayonnaise but I had to ask for it separately. Again, overall, the experience was a disappointment. We will not be returning anytime soon and will caution others against doing so.

Yelp
For a bar type vibe, this place had great food! Highly recommend the Korean BBQ skewers. I'd never heard of duroc pork, but it turned out to be really tender, flavorful and with a peanut sauce that was the perfect pair. I also got the Pickled Fried Cauliflower that came with a curry aioli. The cauliflower was awesome, but that AIOLI! You can get fried cauliflower just about anywhere but the dip really made this dish. I was surprised to find Pat's had non-alcoholic options, and good ones! I landed on the St. Agrestis Amaro Falso which had a balance of bitter and sweet with a bubbly finish. Really fun drink to try if you're AF. Overall I give Pat's Tap 5 stars. We came for the food, but next time I hope to try out the skee ball and stay a while.

Yelp
Nice patio great for people watching! I've come here a lot, and I will definitely say their food is up and down. I guess it depends on who's in the kitchen. But their burgers are small and not very good. One thing that is great is the chicken harissa sandwich It's pretty much the only thing I will order. You can tell it's a Kim Bartman location because the rotating staff! She has a hard time keeping good people.

Yelp
Stopped in Pat's Tap after the wait at Hola Arepa was far too long. We opted to sit right at the bar, though there were several tables open. The bartender was great--friendly, helpful, attentive. I got the Pats Burger and my partner got the fried chicken sandwich. Honestly, it was just solid bar food. The burger was tasty, perhaps a bit well done for my taste and the chicken was spot on. Both of us thought the fries were crispy and salty!

Yelp
I really wanted to like Pat's tap. It's close to home and the patio is great for a summer day. But after reading the website which hyped up the food as above-average pub food, we were disappointed. I will say the cheese curds absolutely WHIP, they are probably the best I've tried in the city. But the burger and grilled cheese were just extremely mediocre, even with added fillings. Beer selection was great, but wish they had THC seltzers. Feels like a bit of a miss with Marigold's NA bottle shop right next door. Service was a bit awkward, as were the overall interior vibes. But we love to see Skee-Ball in a bar so we'll definitely give it a second shot in the hopes that we just visited on an off night.

Yelp
What a fun South Minneapolis hidden gem! The ambiance is that of a dive bar, but the food is actually bomb. And the vintage skee ball is 10/10! Pat's Tap has a very classic midwestern menu with some fun twists like "currywurst" and the "Bloody Mary sandwich." Today I had the small BLT chop salad, a fried chicken sandwich, and mini donuts for dessert! The small BLT chop salad was my favorite part of the meal, with bacon, iceberg, tomato, cheddar, French and ranch. It was SO delicious and the homemade ranch was 12/10 for sure. Service was awesome and we had a super helpful waitress that recommended the mini donuts for dessert- so good!

Yelp
Pat's Tap is your local bar: ample space, friendly faces and a lovely patio. I stopped by because they participated in the Twin Cities Vegan Chef Challenge. I got the Southern Country Fried Seitan sandwich ($14) and loved it: beautifully-breaded seitan, an excellent bun and fresh ingredients overall. The shoestring fries were also fabulous. I hope the vegan sandwich remains on the menu permanently, because it's awesome and there are few places in the Twin Cities to get a vegan fried chicken sandwich. Pat's otherwise doesn't have any labeled vegan options, so this sandwich feels like a huge leap in the right direction. If they added a vegan breakfast sandwich, I'd stop by every week.

Yelp
We love Pat's! The vibe is cool, the food is surprisingly elevated and so yummy (the fried rice is my favorite, but everything is good), and the bartenders make you feel like you're part of the family. This place is a gem

Yelp
My friend and I stopped in on a whim the other day and were blown away by the great customer service. I have been a couple times to eat and have a few drinks in the past but was finally pushed to write a review by the great service we had last time. The food is good - think American classics done well without much of a price markup despite the beautiful neighborhood. Street parking is often busy so plan to walk up a block or two. I had a jack and Coke and my partner just had a soda but the bartender checked in on us continually, answered our questions about the menu, and invited us back for when their new skee ball machines arrive - and we will definitely return to play! This place features high top seated tables, a beautiful patio with low top tables seasonally, and bar seating as well. The place is usually at least 50% full but has a good following of local people and service industry workers. Every drink I've had here is poured well and delicious - even their craft drinks all the way down to rail pours. Thanks to the excellent bartending staff!

Yelp
We had a City Tin coupon which brought us to Pat's Tap. What a lovely local restaurant. We got the last table outside. Their patio is very inviting, cool and shady on a hot summer night. I chose the Harissa Chicken sandwich with homemade chips and an Urban Growler De-lovely stout. All very good. Husband had the BLT salad with chicken. Quite filling. Service was good. On street parking was a little busy but we found a spot around the corner. I needed the little walk after eating all that food anyway.

Yelp
I recently went to Pat's Tap for Happy Hour and it did not disappoint! For about $20 for 3 people we got: 2 drinks, fries, cheese curds, and pretzels. I mean...come on. That's a hell of a steal! I loved the fries and thick sauce, as well as the smoked ketchup. The pretzels were slighly overdone, but still very good! I'm definitely going back. Notes: *Parking: This was the hard part. With current construction, it's difficult to find a nearby spot. Luckily I was able to grab one right out front. Just know this ahead of time. *We went on a Monday around 5:00pm and there was plenty of seating.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood bar!! Burgers & cheese curds are recommended, and they have trivia night every Wednesday at 7:30 that's a ton of fun! It's not trivia mafia, which is great imo

Yelp
Pats tap is unassumingly great! From the name you'd think it's just a bar but they actually have great food too. They are pretty much always short on staff but the staff in my experience is always friendly! Recently sat out on the patio on a perfect summer evening for a relaxing and low key dinner. I got a sandwich (boring order but it sounded good) and my boyfriend got the Tex mex rice bowl. We were both happy! Tap list of course is extensive and has great options. Great neighborhood spot!
google avatar

Yelp
Pat's is an ok place to grab some bar food and a brew. They have a decent amount of beers available and there food is ok, they usually have plenty of seating available as well. However, I've never had great service here, kind of slow. I think this is due to needing more staff though.
google avatar

Stacey D.

Yelp
pats tap was in our city tins. By the way, if you don't have a city tins, I would highly recommend! It's a great way to explore restaurants around the twin cities! They have a good selection of beers but somehow I struck out twice since it wasn't available that day so I just went with the house red. They do generous wine pours. My husband went with a dirty martini and he really enjoyed his drink. For dinner, I went with the fried chicken sandwich. At first glance, it looks huge!! But it's mostly breading. Overall I thought it was as pretty average. Nothing mind blowing but not bad either. However, the house chips were really good! My husband went with the bangers and mash. He thought it was pretty good and a good dinner option for a cold winter night. I would come back here for drinks. They also had the wild game on so it's a good option for hockey fans!

Yelp
I got food to go, so I can only rate things on that. However, I must say that people seemed incredibly friendly there, so one could assume that the service would be pretty good. I got the Tex Mex rice bowI ($13) and having Lived in Houston, I can certainly teII you that there wasn't anything 'Tex Mex' about the dish. It was vegetarian, but offered very IittIe in terms of vegetables. It was basically just rice, beans, and eggs. The 3 puny slivers of avocado that were included were disgusting (especially when this is used as sub for meat). The pepper jam was tasty, but more sweet than it was spicy. To top it off, I asked for it to be extremely spicy, OnIy to wind up with a sweet (albeit tasty) dish. Overall, I wiII definitely not be back there to eat, but may go in to grab a beer, as the spot definiteIy did seem to have a pretty cool vibe.

Yelp
We love coming to Pat's tap. They don't have 5 star food but that's not what we come for. We come for the good vibes and beer. Have had a good experience every time and the staff are awesome. I like their sandwiches. Sometimes the burger patties can be dry, but overall they're good and the fries are fresh. I would skip the zucchini cakes.

Yelp
Drinking at Pat's Tap is like having wet hair for an entire day. I'm sure some people like it, but they're twisted and not in the endearing way. If you prefer an anthropological exploration into dating habits of distraught, bland millennials, Pat's Tap is good for watching multiple bad Tinder dates at once. If you are looking for an honest dive bar with decent food, this is not your joint, but rather a parody of that and what I'm told it once was. The drinks aren't cheap, and while the food is greasy, it ain't the good kinda greasy. I would imagine this is the kinda place Jacob Frey would go to after watching a rerun of Sons of Anarchy in his Northeast condo at 6pm when he needs his fix of a "seedy" bar out in the "boonies". Can you even call it a bar if it closes at midnight on the weekends? A true representation of South Minneapolis these days, striving to parody something it once was, and with outstanding results. And the wage theft incident of 2020 only put the cherry on top! You would be better off taking your business to speedway across the street and getting drunk of 3.2 beer and tossin' a couple honey buns down that scandi gullet of yours.
google avatar

Jean H.

Yelp
I'm hesitant to give this place the review it deserves because I want to preserve a spot at the bar for me and my friends. This place looks average yet is excellent in so many ways. Great happy hour - a chilly, crisp & dry rose for $5, yes, please! Tasty apps, good food, great cocktails, and seriously the most gracious, welcoming, and personable staff in Minneapolis.
google avatar

Yelp
Great patio. The James Beard Blended Burger Project is one of the best burgers that I've had in awhile. It was cooked to a perfect medium. The patio is dog friendly. It was easy to find parking. Nice selection of Minnesota taps & national taps. The restaurant was out of several items, so I'm looking forward to visiting again to trying them!
google avatar

Richie H.

Yelp
This is my first time here and it seems like a really nice cozy place I will definitely have to come back here again and try it again and again waiting for my appetizer at this time pictures to follow!!!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
My second attempt at the Bloody Mary sandwich was much better than the first! Although it still doesn't taste like a Bloody Mary, it's delicious on its own! With crispy bacon and a fried egg. Here are a few things that would make this sandwich more like a Bloody Mary: Ripened tomato Horseradish Sriracha More of the Worcestershire aioli (I didn't taste it at all) Some if the sweet tomato jam served with the cheese curds Paired with one of their delicious and spicy bloody Mary's I'm still going back for it because I dig the flavor profile. Nice job, guys! Keep that shit up, along with the fried zucchini cakes and Brussels sprouts, and amazing fried cheese curds! I need to return for a burger one if these days, and fish and chips. I'll let ya know!

Shelby B.

Yelp
A favorite neighborhood spot! Love their dog friendly patio, happy hour specials and friendly staff. Great for a low key hangout with friends. And the cheese curds are divine!

Yelp
The passport brought us in here for a 2 for 1 drink and we loved it! We had a great server and the place gave off great vibes. For drinks we both got the Evil Olive, which is a spicy martini! If you like hot things, this is the drink for you. You choose if you want vodka or gin then it comes with hot pickled peppers that will leave your mouth burning. For food we just got the fried pickled cauliflower app. It was delicious! It comes with ranch and franks red hot as a dipping sauce. Overall, we had a great experience and will be coming back to try more things on the menu!
google avatar

Yelp
The passport brought us in for a friends bday.. we started with the beetle juice cocktail which had vodka, ginger beer, beet shrub juice and lemon. The beet flavor was too overpowering for me. They have a wine selection and a lot of beers! I had a hard cider on tap. The food was really goood. My friend and I each ordered a burger and split them. I had the jbf burger grass fed beef, pork, mushrooms sweet chili sauce and peanut butter. It is served with fries or you can get it with fries or greens for an extra charge. I choose the greens. My friend got the Harrisa and honey chicken sandwich. It was very good.. we ordered the flourless chocolate cake for her bday which was very tasty.. if you want to play skeet all there are 3 available and a pool table. They have a big bar area. The only thing I didn't like was the music was reallly loud and it was hard to talk.
google avatar

Katy F.

Yelp
I'm so happy Pat's Tap is open again! We went for a casual date night and had a great time. Their menu now has a wide array of sliders to choose from. We each picked out two sliders and shared - it was so fun getting to try so many menu items! We also got the cheese curds which were delightful. They don't have as many tap beers as before, but I'm assuming they'll get more later on down the line. Great music and atmosphere, can't wait to come back again soon!
google avatar

Katie U.

Yelp
I've been here to drink a few times always in hopes of playing skeeball. The first time they were all occupied and another time they were all out of order. Maybe next time. They also have darts and a pool table but those are usually taken. They've got some decent beers and a few TVs for entertainment. We usually hang out in the high top seating between the bar and dining area. This is actually a super convenient area for people who just want to drink and gather with friends. The one thing I can't figure out is the vibe here. It's young and a little hipster but both times the smell of marijuana was lingering, and I wasn't a fan of that.
google avatar

Emily Z.

Yelp
I came here years ago and then more recently for a double date in early fall. I was happy to see they have a decent amount of outdoor seating, and it was nice out so we decided to eat outside. We ordered our drinks and food and waited extremely long for everything. It was in the middle of the week and not that busy so we were confused as to why it was taking so long (almost an hour). I ordered the mahi tacos. They were good but not amazing and definitely not worth the wait...They were cold when I got them too which was sad. Also. Only 3 of our 4 dishes were served at first too. The last dish was supposed to come shortly after but it didn't for another 25 minutes or so (I think they forgot about us and then someone finally noticed we were still waiting). We had another waitress serve this last dish and it wasn't our initial waitress so there was no apology or anything from them. At the very end of our meal, we finally got our original waitress to come over/apologize for the wait. She didn't come to ask us how our food was nor provide more water during our meal either. Good thing the food wasn't bad because the service certainly was. Not sure if we'll be back...but if we do, then they will really need to step it up.

Colin O.

Yelp
Went for drinks after eating at Hola Arepa. Great staff, friendly quick service. Drinks were nice and the atmosphere was cool.

Yelp
I like Pat's Tap. They have a dog-friendly patio, good happy hour, and skeeball - all some of my favorite things! I especially like the homemade cheez its and cheese curds ($5 during HH), and Adam H. is a big fan of the fried pickles. Why 3 stars? The skeeball machines, while vintage, are often broken. There are only 2 restrooms, and the lines spill into the skeeball area during peak times. The prices outside of happy hour can be steep. They have a check in deal on Yelp, but only have honored it a handful of the times I have been there. Parking is also tough. If you can go during happy hour and sit on the patio, definitely check out Pat's Tap! If not, you may want to check out some of the other fun places on Nicollet.

Joanna S.

Yelp
Honestly had one of the worst dining experiences of my life here last night. I DO NOT BLAME THE STAFF. To me, it seemed like the spot was clearly understaffed for a Friday and the team was in over their heads. We had to wait forever to order despite their not being many people, a dressing I am allergic too was added to my salad even though I specified my allergy - not a big deal but then they brought back my salad with no dressing and then when I asked for a different kind of dressing I had to wait 25 minutes. I kept seeing staff going home and then one of the toilets began overflowing and staffing was so limited the servers had to deal with it. I don't want to be served by someone covered in toilet water!!!!! I would give this place the benefit of the doubt but given my experiences at other Kim Bartman joints, this seems to fall in line. Such a bummer considering there aren't that many dining options in the area. I wish that these establishments were better run bc the servers and food normally aren't the problem as much as it seems like things just are understaffed all the time.

Yelp
Skee-ball looks like fun But this place is overpriced Hipster stomping grounds Got a Rachel with Fries and one Day Tripper (see my Indeed review) and the total was twenty bucks. That was with $2.50 off on my beer for checking in on Yelp. Pat's calls itself a "Gastro Pub", but the food was really nothing special for me. The Rachel was pretty light on the turkey, and there was a huge fatty piece that I could not swallow and had to spit out into my napkin. The staff was friendly and prompt, but when it comes to Taps I will stick with Groveland in the future.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Look, I get the crits of Pat's Tap...but in the summer, it is the best Happy Hour bar EVER. Once you drink enough you won't even notice the food.
google avatar

Sue S.

Yelp
Hey they have skee-ball here! Now that we have that out of the way, on to the review. We stopped in at Pat's Tap and found a really good rendition of a neighborhood bar. Pat's is conveniently located and has a pretty cool vibe, with mismatched chairs, hard wood tables and cool and inviting decor. We found the wait staff to be particularly friendly and accommodating -- super nice all the way around. However, the bar staff was not so friendly. When we first arrived, I spent a few minutes deciding what I wanted to drink and then another 5-10 minutes trying to get the attention of one of the two bartenders. They basically ignored me and a couple other people trying to get served. One of them was even cleaning items rather than serving people. It was kind of off-putting. Once we did get a beer, we found a table and were delighted to find the kitchen is open late (till midnight I think). We ordered the fried green beans and the fried pickles. Honestly, they are like the same dish. It's extremely clear that Pat's uses the same exact thick tempura batter on the beans and the pickles, and I would guess they even fried them together. The only difference between the two dishes was the dipping sauce -- ranch with the pickles and a ginger orange sauce with the beans that was really good. The batter was pretty thick and somewhat overwhelming. It wasn't bad, but it just was a lot of breading with a lot of grease absorbed. I felt like Pat's is definitely a favorite hangout among the local neighborhood folks, and I totally get why. The beer selection was good. It looked like they could mix a good cocktail. The kitchen is open late. Prices were reasonable. I just wish the service at the bar had been better, really, and that there was a little more diversity in the food that we tried. That said, we didn't try a whole lot and we'd be totally willing to give Pat's another shot. I think maybe we just need to order better next time.

Yelp
They have a great happy hour everyday 3-6. Good beer/wine and the cheese curds were tasty! Our server was great and we will be back!

Yelp
excellent service! delicious food and a fun atmosphere. the outdoor dining area is super welcoming. got everything to the table super quick :) highly recommend this neighborhood joint. don't give the corporate chains and billionaires your money! spend it locally!!!

Yelp
TLDR: Misleading name, amazing Cheese Curds, cute spot! During my visit to Minnesota, my best friend insisted that I try cheese curds and Pat's Tap was suppose to be the best in the area. Well, they did not disappoint! I saw another review mentioned not to share this dish, and they were right! These are AMAZING! The drinks were also delicious. I had first ordered a mocktail and had vodka added, which definitely was not as strong as the SS Mule I ordered afterwards. Both absolutely delicious! I wish I had more time to play some Skee Ball! Definitely a must try place! Also, super cute interior -- Instagram worthy for sure!

Yelp
Skee-ball is the attraction that brought my friend and I to Pat's Tap. We quickly became friends not long after being acquainted and skee-ball was one of the mutual interests that sealed our relationship. We met up for lunch at the restaurant. The weather was brisk with a fairly strong wind that made the walk inside uncomfortable. However, once through the door, it was cozy both due to temperature and the quirky interior. While the place wasn't very packed when we arrived, it still had an inviting atmosphere, unlike times when you walk into a space and the lack of bodies create an awkward tension. With a fairly wide range of choices for food, it took awhile for me to decide. I ended up getting the Rachel sandwich (Ferndale smoked turkey, Swiss, sauerkraut, Thousand Island, pumpernickel) without sauerkraut and subbed the house made chips for frites. I was quite hungry by the time the food arrived. The first bite pleased my tastebuds immensely. However, the sandwich was a bit drippy and its contents tended to slip around within the outer layers of bread. It was a satisfying blend with a little sweetness coming from the turkey and the sauce along with the salty creaminess mixed with the Swiss cheese. The fries were a good sized cut with a decent amount of potato in each individual piece. They were soft but still had some chewiness to them. It was a favorable texture. Our waitress was very cordial and prompt to take our orders and refill beverages throughout the meal which is something that I appreciate when dining out. Despite not ordering anything from the bar, the bartender was also very friendly when greeting us. Having cheerful staff around is always something that I like to acknowledge and give credit for, so props to them! If you're looking for somewhere quaint but contemporary to enjoy a meal, try Pat's Tap out and enjoy some games of skee-ball from the vintage machines in the back while you're there!

Yelp
Met a friend visiting from out of town here, I think he was staying some where near by. That's fine, I get that it's probably a decent little neighborhood hang out. Thankfully I don't live nearby so I don't have to go back! I went with the cheeseburger. The photos I had seen showed a burger with a giant, fried slab of cheese on top. HELLO! Get in my belly. Unfortunately it was completely flavorless. The burger had no flavor, the cheese had no flavor. Nada. I don't even know how that happens. Even the house made chips had NO FLAVOR - I actually had to salt them myself. Husband also got a burger and paid the extra $3 for 'greens' - which were literally just that - greens. Plain lettuce/greens - as far as he could tell they weren't even dressed. WTF. Rip off. This menu is just all over the place - burgers, bahn mi, ramen, indian curry? Pick something and stick with it. The pretzel was a bready terrible mess, the charcuterie board was insanely over priced and was made up of mostly mustard. Just bad. I notice on the website they talk about "eating local" and organic and sustainable. One of our table mates made a big deal asking where the turkey was sourced from (and was apparently pleased about it). SO OVER IT!!! Local, sustainable means NOTHING if your food is overpriced, flavorless crap. (The skee ball is cool and I'll give props for it only costing a quarter - but its LOUD - don't sit near them)

Yelp
Good food/drinks and environment. The fried pickles are amazing. A little over-priced but the happy hour is nice.

Yelp
I would rate it "was better". First, let me say the staff is great! Friendly and efficient - no worries there. The issue is the menu change. The previous menu of sliders and small bites had a lot of variety and choice not available at every other pub in walking distance. Now the menu is the same food, smaller portions and higher prices than Lowbrow or Nighthawks. Not sure why they did it. They could have raised the price a little on the menu they had and still been a better deal than those other places. Oh well.

Yelp
Five stars on the food, negative five stars for service. We arrived at 5:45pm on a Sunday, were seated immediately and then ignored for 15 minutes. After asking the hostess for some attention, our server appeared. We got our order in around 6 and politely told the server we were in a bit of a hurry (had to leave by 6:45/7 to catch a flight). She then disappeared for 35 minutes, before we finally got our starters at 6:40. Five minutes later the large dishes arrived and almost comically were not exactly what we had ordered. The server offered to fix it but at this point we had no time to wait. As far as the food is concerned, the szechuan green beans were delicious, and the wild rice and mushroom burger was unique and tasty. I'd love to explore more of the menu, but no food is worth sitting through service this poor.

Yelp
Don't come for the food. Skee-ball or beer, sure. Patio for people watching, fine. Black rice burger, no. Very plain. Rice on a bun...Guess I should've known better? This was no veggie burger. Instead of fries I got the greens. Mistake. They were flavorless. Someone forgot the dressing? Too many other places to go to...won't come back here.

Yelp
I wanted to write a 3.5 star review, but since Yelp believes in round numbers and I'm feeling generous, I'll give Pat's Tap an extra half star. They have their fried pickles to thank for that. I can see why Pat's would be a go-to spot for many that live in south Minneapolis - it's got a huge beer selection, a great patio, and a relaxed atmosphere. Service has always been quite spotty when I've been here, but if you're in it for a leisurely afternoon or evening, it's nothing to be concerned about. If you choose to sit inside, be prepared to shout across the table at your drinking/dining partners - this place is loud. As for food, they offer standard bar fare with an upscale twist - as with Kim Bartmann's other outposts (Barbette, Bryant Lake Bowl, Red Stag Supper Club, Bread & Pickle, etc.) they aim to serve organic and sustainable food throughout the menu. All of their appetizers are pretty solid - you really can't go wrong. Their black rice burger is one of the most delicious veggie burgers I've had on ANY menu. I'm not a vegetarian, but I'd order this again and again. I've also had the BLT chop salad, which is about as standard of a bar salad as you can get, but sometimes iceberg lettuce covered in bacon, peas, and hard-boiled eggs hits the healthy/not healthy sweet spot. The house-made salad dressings are incredible. Also - the fried pickles. Please, just get them. I don't really like pickles, don't eat a lot of fried food, and ranch dressing is certainly NOT my thing. But put them together, and magic happens. Tempura-fried pickle spear heaven. Better than the State Fair's, dare I say?!

Yelp
Wow. When our Twin Cities supper club decided to eat here, I wasn't initially too pysched, but I was quickly proven wrong. First, I went to their website to check out their menu before going, and their website is cool, hip and has great presentation. After reading the bio on the chef, I was pleasantly more optimistic for the outing. Upon getting there, we were told we'd have a 30 minute wait (large party of 8), and unfortunately, no - they don't take reservations (they are a bar, after all). That said, the hostess was awesome and was able to squeeze us all together much sooner than that (15 minutes). The service was impeccable, and the food? Well, let's just say it was the freshest vegetable ramen tahini dish I've had in a long time! I washed it down with their crazy spicy lemonade (Hello? Creative and yummy!), and overall, rolled out of there incredibly satiated by this little Minneapolis bar. It's spacious. It's hip. It's got great food and an incredible beer list. I'm in for life. Thanks Pat's Tap!

Yelp
This place is near my house so I love walking over and having a beer and playing skee ball! They have a huge list of craft beers so it is hard to choose! They only have maybe 10-12 that are on draft but the rest you can get in a can and then ask for a glass to pour it in. I have tried the fried cauliflower and it was very good! I have also had the fried pickles, which were very tasty! They were spears so some bites had a higher pickle to batter ratio but that was the only flaw. I have had great service every time I have gone and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Not too loud or crowded and very relaxing. Note: If you check in on Yelp you get $2 off happy hour drinks! They also have a beer that is on happy hour all month so it only costs $3.25 any day, any time.

Yelp
Very good! Love the divey vibes while still feeling a little fancy. It was pretty spendy though for bar food. The cheeseburger was amazing with the fried cheese block on top.

Yelp
Came in during their happy hour with a few friends. They have a great selection of canned beer, probably the largest I have ever seen when it comes to cans. Their draft list was quite a bit shorter but there was a bunch of local drafts I had never tried before. We ordered a few appetizers, including the flatbread, cheese curds, and deep fried pickles. The pickles were awesome. The cheese curds were pretty standard, cheesy and delicious. However, I was not a fan of the flat bread. It was pretty gross, there was way to much pesto on it and the flavor just wasn't working for me. We sat out on their patio, which was pretty weak. The only thing enjoyable was the fresh air. We weren't in the greatest part of town, so there was nothing to look at outside but a gas station and an intersection. To make matters worse, the car alarm from the car parked right on the other side of the fence from where we were sitting went off for a good 10-15 minutes. I know its not Pat's Tap's fault, but it just made the patio experience worse than it already was. There was no attempt at livening up the patio, I could be wrong but I don't even remember any plants out there. Inside looked more enjoyable however. It was decorated with Packers memorabilia and had a big row of old school skee ball games. Overall it wasn't a bad experience, I had fun being there with my friends. I would come back to try out some more beer and order those pickles again.
