The Best Thai and Laotian Food in Philly | Eater Philly

"This impressive restaurant in University City is known for their contemporary Thai cuisine that’s notable. For example, their fried squid salad with spicy lime dressing and Chu Chee duck is a great introduction to Thai cuisine." - Ernest Owens

Went in for dinner. Was immediately seated as we went at 5 pm. We ordered the pad thai, tom yum soup and the larb salad. The food was average. Not bad but not exceptional. Good for the price.

Google
LOVED the food here and came during the university city dining days promotion where you could get three courses for $20. The papaya salad as a starter itself was so good and such a generous portion, and the pad thai was full of flavour and had generous amounts of tofu and chicken. The green tea ice cream is definitely something I will be thinking about because it wasn't too sweet and was a perfect way to end the meal. Overall, would definitely recommend for the portion size and the pricing!

Google
Got the pineapple fried rice and it was really delicious, would have liked it a bit more if there was some additional pineapple as I only had a couple pieces. The presentation looked great though, rice was cooked well, veggies were nice and fresh. Nice view of the kitchen and easy atmosphere to dine casually in. Service was great, always very attentive to anything and prompt. The servers were all very great! Would come back again if I was in the area of close to the hospital again in the future.

Google
we loved it! definitely felt like we got a good amount of food for the price and everything was v yummy. service was speedy and it was relatively empty at three on a friday. i got the koong pad prik prao, and my table got drunken noodles, wonton soup, veggie & shrimp dumplings, and red curry. we all really liked our own and everyone else’s dishes. it was all the perfect amount of spice and had really good flavor. it was my first time trying red curry, and i was surprised by how good it was. definitely a solid thai spot in ucity :)

I went here with my mom while visiting Philadelphia and staying near the University of Pennsylvania. I ordered Khao Soi (Spicy Curry Bowl) for the first time and was not disappointed. It was absolutely delicious. For someone craving a curry soup with noodles, it is a must order. My mom ordered the Pad Woon Sen, which was also delicious. Great vibe in the restaurant and very friendly staff.

This is not my first time visiting Pattaya Grill and I love the garden seating option of Pattaya Grill! We ordered their Seafood Tom Yam soup, the soup itself is on-point for its sweet and sour, though it arrived in our table in such a luke-warm temperature. I believe the soup would tastes 3x better if it was hot. We ordered the Pineapple Fried rice, Pad Thai and Three Buddies. Our favorite were definitely the amazing Pad Thai. Pineapple fried rice was ok, it was not dry enough for my tastes. If they just keep stirring the fried rice a bit longer on the wok, it would’ve been perfect. Three Buddies was something new that I’ve tried here, in my opinion it was a bit too sour. The only thing you taste is just the sourness of the dish, guess you’ll love it if you like sour dish. Overall, this is a great place to grab Thai cuisine.

We decided to dine in at Pattaya on a Friday night. There was only one other couple in the entire restaurant but they had many take out orders ready so the kitchen was busy. We decided to try the spring rolls and the Tom yum soup. I guess they heated the spring rolls in the microwave and it released lot of oil. The base of Tom yum soup was really good but the overcooked blend shredded chicken and raw mushroom were horrible. We got the basil fried rice and drunken noodle(spicy) both with chicken. Once again, it was the same overcooked boiled chicken that ruined the dish. We kept the chicken and tried to enjoy our dish. Will definitely try other protein or keep it vegetarian next time. The flavors are really good if they can improve their meat. Service was okay but this is a take out place. Not recommended for dine in.

Yelp
Came here with the family on a busy Saturday night and we were seated right away. We sat right in the front near the entrance and because so many people come for takeout, it gets a bit crowded so it feels like people are standing over you a bit because there is no waiting area. Service was pretty solid and we ordered some vegetarian kung pao and the chicken pad Thai. The pad Thai wasn't bad at all but I did expect more cilantro and shallots. Price point was pretty fair though. The food was good. It did its job.

Yelp
I use to go to this restaurant a bit when I was in college. I am glad that they moved into a new spot without loosing their awesome quality and service. We went for University City Dining Days. Can't beat a $20 dollar, 3 course meal. The new place is so gorgeous. They have a lot of seating. I really liked the wall art (see attached). It literally spanned the whole wall. It was also nice that they have a small window so I can see orders come out and all the behind the scene action. The service was very quick. We ordered lemon grass as our soup and papaya salad as our other app. The lemon grass is a must order (it had the best broth ever). We felt like the mushrooms didn't really hold only the flavor of the broth compared to the chicken. The papaya salad was also good. Usually it is more fishy with the fish sauce but this didn't have that pronounced taste. The next dish was the pad thai which was really delicious. It was so big and had a great presentation with its flower shaped carrots. I could even tell the dish had quality. They even didn't skimp on the quality on the bean sprouts. I really liked how we could choose from chicken, pork, or beef for this dish and the red curry. We ended up getting beef for the red curry. It was different with beef compared to chicken but I feel like it still tasted really good. I really enjoyed the coconut base. The desserts consisted of coconut pudding and coconut ice cream. The ice cream was pretty good (I wish we would have had more than one scoop). The coconut was very flavorful. We also had a coconut pudding which was oddly placed in two small bowls. It was also weird that the coconut pudding was hot (we weren't expecting that).

Yelp
I always enjoy the food here. The service is good, the dishes are brimming with flavor and the spot is bright with big windows. It's a great place for a weeknight meal. I had the yellow curry and my daughter had the salad with beef. Both orders were delicious. I was asked what spice level (1-5) and I said 4. It was indeed, a delicious 4. If you are craving a decent Thai food dish and find yourself here, I don't think you would be sorry about it. Good food, quick service and the spice level just how you like it.

Yelp
The food was unimpressive. Noodles were either overcooked/ not fresh since the noodles came out broken/ not whole/ in pieces. Dishes themselves were 95% noodle or rice with minimal veggies or meat. Yes they are generous in size but not in quality. Dishes are ~$10-18 each. The spicy dishes we ordered were not spicy at all to our Asian taste buds. The pad see ew was extremely sweet and not recommended for those without a sweet tooth such as myself. The meat also tasted like it had an expired smell/ odor... Menu said it contains egg but I think they forgot to add in mine? For the shrimp and crab meat fried rice, we barely see any crabmeat and shrimp... maybe 2-3 pieces of each accompanying a massive portion of rice. Will not be coming here again. To their defense, the place is clean. Whom I do recommend this place to: people on a budget as this does average out ~$10-19/ per person. They accept credit cards. No parking included. Metered street parking.

Yelp
So happy to have found Pattaya's new location. Loved the Chestnut street location and just assumed it shut down. I didn't know they moved but was so relieved to hear! Th coconut shrimp appetizer is so delicious! I also got the Pork Pad See Ew and it was also pretty tasty. The new layout is so much different than in the Chestnut street location, but it works! We didn't receive a dish for one of our friends because they accidentally forgot to put it in. Staff were super apologetic, delivered the food anyway and took it off the bill!

Yelp
Needing a break from the typical campus eats, I suggested a business lunch at Pattaya. I really enjoyed the ambiance, proximity to Penn's campus, and the varied menu items at Pattaya. I was a little bummed that there were no lunch specials, and I was super sad that the only beverages they offered were canned or bottled - I was seeking a fresh Thai iced tea! However, the Panang Curry was to die for - I had no issue slurping the entirety of my meal. My colleagues ordered different noodle dishes, and the portions were huge! We shared an order of the Golden Triangles, which were okay - unremarkable, but tofu often is (sorry!!) We were all very happy with our main entrees, and I was the only one who didn't have an entire meal's worth of leftovers...a good value! Service was friendly and quick making for a nice dine-in experience.

Yelp
Love this place so much. The servers are so kind, the food is made so quick even if it's busy and it's so so delicious. I come here about once a week and it's never been bad. The chicken is high quality and the seasonings are amazing. Love coming here!
google avatar

Janet C.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from here so I can't comment on the ambiance. Food preparation was quick and was delivered in a timely fashion. Overall, the food was just okay, not particularly flavorful or memorable. We had the pad thai and pad kee mao - the pad thai was a bit better, but you can definitely find better versions of both at the plethora of other Thai spots around the city.

Yelp
Restaurant looked new when we walked in. Loved the art work on their walls. Ordered the Chicken Lemon Grass Soup, Papaya salad, beef red curry, chicken pad thai, coconut pudding, and coconut ice cream. The coconut pudding was missing from new University Dining Days promo menu but they were gracious enough to readd it at my request. The soup's chicken was overcooked and mushroom wasn't as flavorful but the soup and vegetables made up for it and more. The salad was also excellent and loved how fish sauce didn't overwhelm the salad. The curry was delicious with it's coconut flavors mixed so well with the rice. The pad thai was great with it's slightly sweet noodles. The coconut pudding came out piping hot but once cooled down, tasted delicious with it's mild sweet flavors. The coconut ice cream was cold and great for a hot day. All the dishes came out quickly without overwhelming our limited table space. Definitely coming again!

Yelp
I loveeeee Pattaya! Honestly I don't think I've had a bad meal here. I go semi-regularly and pretty much always get the same things. I start with calamari, golden shrimp, or egg rolls before moving on to the pad see ew, drunkin noodle, or pad thai. On rotation. It always comes out quick, hot, and ready to be devoured. The staff is always nice and eager to make sure you have everything you need. The atmosphere isn't fancy or pretentious. It gives more lunch spot vibes, but I go at any hour. It's the best little thai spot in west Philly!
google avatar

Mia M.

Yelp
Pattaya has reliable and reasonably priced Thai food. Their portions are large - especially for the Pad Thai, and everything is seasoned well and tastes delicious. I wish there was more tofu in the vegetarian dishes, but I love the inclusion of baby corn so it balances out the lack of tofu. While this isn't the most mind blowing food you'll ever have, their dishes are good and I frequently find myself here when I don't want to cook.

Harvey L.

Yelp
I came here and tried the calamari and ginger tea Ginger Tea - great tea! My stomach was a bit upset when I first got here and it fixed me right up. I'm not even a huge tea guy but something told me to get it and I'm glad I did! Calamari - originally I was hesitant based on the look of the breading but it actually was very good! Cooked well, nice size, no too crispy. The sweet and sour sauce was very good as well. I also appreciated the little salad it comes with because it added a lot more variety! Calamari Rating - 5

Yelp
Introduced to Pattaya after West Philly's Baltimore ave dollar stroll festival a week or so ago. During the stroll, Pattaya's Spring rolls and their Thai ice tea was selling like hot cakes, and rightfully so. Those two menu items were deserving of the hype. Unfortunately IRL, some of their other items fell short from a flavor prospective. The veggie dumplings were just bad. Even if they had meat in them, the texture of the dumpling wrapper seemed way off. Also the wonton soup (not pictured) was bland. Probably the same issues as the veggie dumplings, the wontons were texturally off and lacking overall taste. Now for some wins! The Thai wings are good. Think Peking inn fried wings ( Chinese food in west Philly) with sticky Thai sauce. By far the favorite thing I tasted there. The drunken noodle was good as well. I like the ability to customize the order by adding different mix ins, like veggies and spice level. Overall Pattaya, not bad but not great.

Yelp
Good Thai food. Quick delivery. I ordered it mild but will definitely try more spicy next time. They pack in the food so you get a good portion size for the price.

Yelp
I had valentines day takeout for my family . I placed an online order hours before i picked up . The food was ready when i got there however i decided to order a dessert upon arrival and had the chance to observe the atmosphere while waiting . The restaurant was packed and busy and everyone was working together to keep a system going so calmly even though it was hectic the smell in the air was heavenly and the customer service was Amazing . Anyway about the food i had no idea the portions were so generous. I paid 60 dollars for 2 entrees which was the Pad see Eew with shrimp and the Thai basil fried rice , i also got three appetizers which were the satay chicken , veggie dumplings , and calamari. I also ordered a coconut curry soup and a fried banana dessert. The fried rice was my favorite they let you choose the spice level on everything . The vegetable dumplings were amazing the coconut soup my mother absolutely loved it She drank it like juice. The chicken satay was unique but delicious. I have never tried it before today . My mom also absolutely love the calamari. The fried bananas were actually bananas made into a spring roll with chocolate dipping sauce, which was a perfectly light and delicious dessert. I will highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Thai food and I definitely will be returning. Unfortunately, I do not have any photos because I was enjoying my meal

Yelp
A decent Thai-ish restaurant near Penn's campus! Recently, my friends visited Pattaya after they moved to the Locust Street location. Here we ordered the basic noodle dishes: Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Pad See Ew. The dishes were great but they weren't 100% reminiscent of Thai food, more so just other noodle dishes. The Pad Thai had more of a soy sauce base- I didn't taste the sweet/sour of the tamarind as much as I would have hoped. The Pad See Ew was decent with a sweeter soy sauce taste. Lastly, the drunken noodles were ok, but again, skimped on the strong veggie and Thai basil flavor (if you don't like spice too much, get the 1/5 spice!- Thai spice doesn't play around). The orange slice topping was interesting and my friend said she liked it over the Pad Thai! Overall, it was a good experience but seemed a little underwhelming if you're expecting authentic Thai food. The service was extremely friendly and quick though, so I commend the workers for that! Would come back to branch out and perhaps try their other dishes!

Yelp
Always spot on here. This is one of my favorite place to go in UC. They have the best Thai Tea that's in bottles so I can take it anywhere on the go, spillage free. I love their chicken and spinach soup. It is my go-to plus a side of jasmine rice when I am feeling sick. Definitely a good comfort food. And then you also have the classic tom yums and tom kahs! For apps, I am definitely partial to their beef and chicken satays and spring rolls. Sometimes places can over do the beef / chicken, but it is consistent here. With spring rolls, they have a good balance between the wrapper and filling. Some places have thick spring roll wrapper, but barely any filling. Other go to orders: of course the classic pad thai, but I personally love the Khao Soi (Curry Bowl). I get it with extra noodles and mustard green.

Yelp
pattaya i love you so much your pad see ew changed my life and i hope for you to one day cater my wedding and or funeral

Yelp
Great price, really like their curries and noodle dishes (especially the drunken noodle). Is a consistent hit, have eaten it a ton from school events and pad Thai cravings.

Yelp
The food and service here is good. The ambiance is just okay, nothing to note in particular. If you're on UPenn's campus and craving Thai food, this is a solid option!

Yelp
Four stars with a caveat -- last night, we ordered via Grubhub the Chicken Spinach Soup and the Salmon Red Curry. This was our third(?) time ordering from Pattaya during quarantine, so I'll try to aggregate my findings. The ordering process? Intuitive. Physical pick-up is smooth. Takeout food doesn't hit the same as dine-in food, but you can't blame Pattaya for that one. So here's the caveat: Salmon Red Curry ($17) -- standard curry base with some musty, overcooked fish. I give it a B-, and that's if I'm being generous. Opt for vegetable, tofu, or any other meat instead. Chicken Spinach Soup ($5) -- thin, watery blah blah, but honestly that was on us for ordering vegetable broth over the multitude of actually delectable dishes offered. There's value in exploration, but there's also value in sticking to what you know. And here's what I do know: Pattaya's Green Curry? Amazing. Their Drunken Noodles? Delicious. Pineapple Fried Rice? Say less. My love and appreciation for these dishes are the only reason this review sits at 4 stars and not 3. The two dishes we ordered last night? I'd skip.

Yelp
Pattaya doesn't have the world best Thai food, but it's still amazing and reliable every time I get a craving. I've come here countless times these past 3 years and still love the flavor, affordability, and consistency. I will say I usually come for dine-in, but today got takeout because of the covid situation. I'd say portion wise you get more when you dine-in, and the ambiance is pretty decent too. I always get the Papaya Salad (somtum) since I crave it often. This dish kind of tastes different every time I get it, but it is on the spicier side. My go-to order is now the Basil Fried Rice! I NEVER order fried rice at restaurants but Pattaya is an exception because of the amazing texture and flavor the rice has!! I used to always order the Pad Thai, which wasn't really special but had huge portions.
google avatar

Renée C.

Yelp
Decided to try this place out. Ordered spring rolls and pad see ew for dinner. Initially thought the order was mixed up when I saw something white inside the spring rolls, but realized it was chunks of tofu. The pad see ew was a sweet, soupy mess. Will not order again.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is decent for Thai food in West Philly. Main issue I've experienced is delivery took an hour and a half and they weren't helpful with this issue. Based on customer service and experience I can't recommend Pattaya anymore.
google avatar

Karishma M.

Yelp
Food is pretty good! Nice Thai option in University City. Great vegan options as well as meat options! I've had the tofu dishes and also some of the curries. Never disappointed! Service is always pretty quick no matter if you order take out or dine in. It's cute for date night or casual dining!
google avatar

JC R.

Yelp
I ordered the Spicy Basil Chicken, Chicken Satay Skewers, and the Sliced Mango w/ Sticky Rice for dessert. I've never had any issues with the service here. The food presentation is awesome and the food is always delicious and well-prepared. This is a new location they're at now and the new location doesn't serve alcohol like they used to at the old location, but all in all, I have no complaints. Great restaurant
google avatar

Konyin A.

Yelp
Ordered the basil fried rice because I was CRAVING Thai food. It was a decent meal, nothing too extravagant. I ordered level 5 spicy, but even that wasn't enough in my opinion. The portion size was good and the food came in time. It was a good fried rice meal, just didn't have that special something that I want in fried rice from a Thai restaurant. I'll probably order again since they deliver to my place and they're better than the other Thai place I tried that also delivered to my place.
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
I always get the curry when I come here. I think it's good - the curry is great and flavorful, but the meat is a bit dry. I think they should give more rice since I feel that I've always ran out of rice to the amount of curry they give, which is never really a bad thing. I think the ambiance is kinda nice. The front of the restaurant is always empty when I go, but they put all their diners in the back. There are lights on the ceiling and candles at each table, which makes the feel kinda nice.
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
While the atmosphere was very relaxing and pleasant, the food just wasn't that great. The steamed chicken dumplings were fine but the sauce was too sweet. The fried rice was pretty good, but really had no vegetables in it and was too sweet. The chicken drunken noodles was not spicy at all even though I requested that. In addition, the noodles were cut up into smaller pieces which caused them to turn lukewarm quickly. Small detail but notable! There weren't many vegetables in that dish, either. I was visiting Philadelphia and, compared to Thai food in my hometown of D.C., this Thai food seemed too Anericanized and too sweet. Bummer.

Sarina M.

Yelp
I ordered calamari salad and pad thai. The pad thai is fine, it could have more flavor and I ordered three star spice-- and it's more like a mild spice. It's kind of disappointing that the pad thai doesn't come with any veggies if you order a meat with it. For example, it comes with tofu and veggies-- but it's an extra $1-3 for a meat & then $2 more for veggies.. The calamari salad was just fried calamari drenched in sauce with a TINY bed of lettuce.. I was expecting an actual salad with more lettuce/veggies. I would've ordered the regular calamari instead if i knew it would come drenched in sauce... overall, it's mediocre at best.. i wish it was more authentic but the price is pretty cheap compared to other places in the area so i guess you get what you pay for.
google avatar

Raymond V.

Yelp
Decent Thai place in the area when there's a quick craving. The pad thai, pad see ew are bigger servings and can't-go-wrongs. The calamari is okay; it's all rings and were definitely frozen. The breading was thin but crunchy. The wings are tasty with a kick and covered in a Thai basil-sweet chili sauce. I wish it was herbier and more aromatic. It also isn't the cheapest place which makes it less appetizing to go, but the service is always fast and generous, which gives Pattaya my fourth star.
google avatar

Judy L.

Yelp
Open during COVID-19! Food is delicious just like last time. This time I got the chicken with bamboo shoots and it was delicious with rice. Pad See Ew was also good, a little on the salty side, but I love that sweet soy flavor. Pad Thai is a staple and delicious with shrimp!
google avatar

Jenny K.

Yelp
Why why why does this place have any stars higher than 2? I ordered from this place last night and completely lost my appetite. I ordered a tofu pad thai and omg my noodles were PINK! Looked like someone dyed them with some type of chemical. The noodles were so mushed together I couldn't even make out one noodle. I was so grossed out I called and tried to get a refund but they blamed it on Caviar. Terrible customer service, Caviar didn't make the pad Thai duhhh I'm sorry that I wasted my money here. Hoping to help out anyone else from making the same mistake
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice lunch menu. We were seated in the pleasant, well-lighted dining room in back of restaurant. Great deal of natural light, makes for a great dining experience for an informal lunch. Pad Thai was judged very good by deputy Yelper, while I had the vegetarian lunch special. Each lunch special about $10. Not anything hugely fancy, just good, basic Thai cooking, a very satisfying lunch. Servers were very attentive.
google avatar

Erik B.

Yelp
Ordered food while working on a 24-hour call shift at the hospital- and it was a great bite to keep our team's morale high. The food was delivered quickly. Granted, the pad see yew was a bit dry and blandly spiced, but they placed plenty of vegetables and tofu in the mix. They have a big menu available plus all of the standard options (curries!).
google avatar

Katherine H.

Yelp
The food here is honestly not my favorite. i've gone to quite a few thai places and the food here is okay. I liked the pad thai and some of the basic options but wasn't a huge fan of the duck dish. the ambience is chill and nice and coudl be cute for chiller dates but again, i'm not the biggest fan of the food

Yelp
I'm new to university city and I've been on the lookout to find my go to Thai food restaurant. I'm happy to say that I found my spot and I am more than thrilled by their food and prices. I went here for the first time with my friend and we got: - Pad See Ew w/ chicken/beef/pork ($9.95) Solid pad see ew! The noodles were perfect and the flavors were on point. One thing that stood out was the portion size. I was pretty full after the meal and I thought the price was amazing for the amount of food. - Green Curry w/ chicken/beef/pork ($9.95) Curry as always was good and perfect consistency, not too watery. Again the portion size was big as well and my friend was very satisfied with his meal. Also on our plates was orange slice. I know we don't come to Thai food restaurants for their oranges but it was a nice finishing touch that was refreshing after we ate! Overall would recommend this place both dine-in and Togo as the food quality and portions are both very good!
google avatar

Dhruv G.

Yelp
Food was good and portions were very large. The golden triangles were bland with silky tofu inside but the sauce it came with was tasty. The Khao Soi had very flavorful broth and the drunken noodles were good but a little dry.
google avatar

Yelp
I have definitely gotten Pattaya at least twice a month over the summer, as it was such a quick walk over to get some yummy Pad Thai or Pad See Ew in a short amount of time! I have had hit or misses with their food. Some days, their Pad See Ew is packed with flavor and delicious and I wish I got more for later! Other days, it tastes flavorless and not enough sauce. I've had more good experiences than not, but a great price for their meals and definitely a selectable place when you're thinking of restaurants around West Philly!
google avatar

Macy S.

Yelp
We got this as take out food on 5/26, we so enjoyed it! The pad thai was a teensy bit dry and the noodles stuck together, but it was so yum when mixed with some green curry!

Dan C.

Yelp
Great Thai takeout option - haven't been inside, but always enjoy the takeout. Pad Thai and drunken noodles are excellent.
google avatar

Nory T.

Yelp
This place is an Americanized Thai spot so don't expect super authentic flavors. Nonetheless my boyfriend and I order from here a lot because it's convenient. I'm part Asian so I'm used to real authentic Thai flavors, but this passes the test for me. The price makes it even more enjoyable for us. We only spend like $32 for two when we eat here. You for sure have to know what to order and what to pass on. The curry is delicious. We always usually get that from here. Ask to adjust for spice (it comes moderately spicy). I say that because it's something I learned during my recent dine in experience. The pad see ew is delicious but it tastes like it's kind of missing some spice. I know now for next time to ask them to add some. I didn't like how they don't have sriracha as well. Bf said the dry noodles were useless in the khao soi as it did nothing for the curry noodles taste wise. The satay's are a hit or miss. They can be really good sometimes or sometimes can taste like they've just been warmed up. Nothing spectacular about the inside. This place is satisfactory but I'm still on the hunt for mindblowing Thai food.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I get their take out (normally pad thai) & always end up having it again for breakfast. It's really good cold or hot in my opinion! The service is always quick and they have great beverage options-- try the Thai tea!!!

Nikki R.

Yelp
The best Thai food in the University City area. Dine in or take out. Service is friendly. Amazing pad thai, drunken noodle, and basil fried rice. would highly recommend. loved the food here.

Yelp
Pattaya is my go to Thai takeout spot! They've never messed up my order and food has always tasted good, although a few dishes are a bit salty. The delivery times from here are also amazing. They usually come early and actually come to my apartment lobby instead of making me walk a block to pickup food from the driver's car. - Pad Thai tastes great and you can even choose what level of spice you want to add. I like their level 3-4. - Red and Green Curry are both great and taste like they should - Hung Lay Curry is way too salty but has decent chunks of pork. - Pad See Ew comes with a generous portion of vegetables and the noodles are the right consistency. - Drunken Noodles are my favorite! The flavoring is not too strong and I like the chewiness of the noodles. Overall, this is a solid place for Thai food whether you're dining in or getting take out. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Beautifully renovated - a great place to host large parties and BYOs! We tried a variety of Thai dishes and they were all pretty great!

Yelp
I've been ordering food from Pattaya since 2012 and the quality has remained the same! Their Pad See Ew is my favorite dish followed by their green, red, and penang curries. Always delicious, packed well for delivery, and made hot & fresh. Pattaya is my go to Thai restaurant in Philly!

Yelp
I'm not surprised that I'm disappointed. Good thing I only ordered 2 dishes . 2 stars because it was basically fail proof dishes, but not inedible. Salmon red curry was basically soup, it was so watery it ran right through my rice, the fish was abit smelly I can taste it in the curry, imagine that. Drunken noodles were shredded noodles and the sauce was super red with a gritty texture , definitely not your traditional sauce.

Yelp
Picked up dinner from Pattaya recently while I was in Philly to take my Step 2 CS exam, and while the food was satisfactory, it was far from the best Thai food I've had. I ended up ordering the drunken noodles with chicken (+ $1 for fried tofu, level 3 spicy). While the portion was generous for the pricing, the fried tofu was sparse, the food was noticeably oily, and the chicken was dry (not to mention, the food was not very spicy at all). Noodles were nice and chewy though, which I enjoyed. I also appreciated that the food was prepared in a timely manner. Overall not bad, but definitely not somewhere I'd return to if I'm in Philly again.
