PattyCakes Bakery

This fun and unexpected treasure is hidden in the middle of the historic district. The staff was playful and the goodies were delicious. I heard rumors of high prices but this time the scuttlebutt was wrong. I will definitely be returning on a regular basis. I had the best pecan pie (literally more pecans than the rest of the pie put together) and my wife enjoyed the KeyLimePie tart.

I was on the hunt for a local specialty bakery while on family vacation. We decided to do an impromptu birthday party and I was looking around desperately! The counter lady was so sweet and patient with my questions and trying to figure out what to get for our party of diverse (read picky) eaters. She went to the back and the Baker came out and had just made some 6 inch cakes! We got to pick our flavor of choice, AND it was decorated on the spot. We got chocolate on chocolate (Super yum), carrot cake (very yummy), lemonade (perfectly tangy and sweet), vanilla, zucchini, and Oreo. I didn't get to try the others because they were SNAPPED up by children. Great job!

Pretty nice place. Cookies and pastries are top notch but the coffee was just ok. I ordered a cortado but most places are not familiar with it. Overall I enjoyed my go here and do recommend it.

We've visited this tiny little bakery on two different occasions. I'll admit small bakeries are a weakness. My first trip I had German chocolate brownie. Not something I would normally buy but it was awesome!! Disappointed they were out on my second trip I decided to try something I'd never even heard of a St. Louis Gooey Bar. It did not disappoint, and I ate the whole thing even though I shouldn't have. My wife got her a iced sugar free latte she loved with each visit. Service was outstanding both times. We were greeted instantly by friendly faces. It's a tiny place that specializes in walk-ins \ pickup. It's worth a trip when you are in town you won't be disappointed.

Very tasty treats! And the service, EVEN BETTER! The young lady running the shop last Friday was so kind to us—we literally arrived just at closing and she was about to lock up but she saw us & opened the door. She was very patient and served us with a smile! We so appreciate her for making Galveston warm for us. Will always make this a stop when we visit.

Stopped in on our way out of Galveston for some treats to go. Pastries and cookies tasted amazing! Staff was patient and very helpful! Hot & iced coffee were also great! Can not wait to come back! Next time, we will stop in more frequently while in town.

I pre-ordered a birthday cake for my Girlfriend for pickup on a Sunday. Lemon cake with birthday wishes written on it. It was fantastic and we both loved it. The icing was also lemon flavored and it was perfectly sweetened - not gritty and not bland. The cake was moist and flavor was excellent. The place is nice and everyone I encountered, from the person who took my order to the person who made our coffee was top-notch in service and friendliness. We sought out PattyCakes due to their positive reviews about gluten free (gf) menu options. This quaint little shop was a pleasant surprise upon entering. The seemingly all women team was cheerful, helpful, and delightful! The reviews were accurate. I asked first about their gf options and was offered at least a half dozen options. I settled on the buckeyes and petit fours. My gluten ingesting travel mates selected cinnamon roll cookies and the pecan cinnamon roll. The petit fours were my personal favorite, they were simply MARVELOUS! The cake was dense and moist and the frosting literally made me wish I had a whole cake! The buckeyes, the cinnamon roll and cookies also received honorable mention. All three were superb with a mug of black coffee! Do recommend that you heat the cinnamon roll if able prior to eating. Considering going back tomorrow for more petit fours!!

This place is really good and in walking distance of UTMB. Their bakery case was filled with so many different pastries. Service was quick and easy. Now a whole lot to say about ambiance as it's not really a dine in bakery, but it was nice and clean. My caramel latte was good! I also got a cinnamon roll, I am deducting a star for that bc I wished it had been warmed up before it was served to me! That would have elevated this place to 5 stars, but overall it was good and I would come back again!

March 28, 2023 Came in for a treat for my boss, wanted to smooze her and Patty's is my FAVORITE island bakery. Picked out 4 white cake petite fours and to my surprise they were stale. (sad face) After the first one being dry and the fondant being hard and cracking, I knew I couldn't give my boss that. I had to try another one...and, then the 3rd... hoping one would be delightful as usual but, nope...all 4 were stale; I was so disappointed In the 10 years that I've been coming here, this has never happened.

Delicious gluten free almond petifour! Lots of gluten free options! Key lime pie good if you like sweet and coconut

we ordered 36 cupcakes for an 80th birthday party. I did call with only a three day notice dur to the winter storm and they were limited on what they could offer. I order plain cupcakes (vanilla and chocolate) with vanilla or chocolate icing. I was to pick them up at 5pm on Saturday but while we were sightseeing on Saturday morning (about 10:30am), I stopped in to let them know I would pick them up that evening. to my surprise, the cupcakes were ready. I was in shock! I couldn't even speak! These cupcakes were decorated with pastel sprinkles and were nothing more than a prepackaged bakery item and $150. I left and called back about 45 minutes later to discuss my options. I was advised that I should have "customized" when I ordered to which I responded "what does plain mean?" The cupcakes were the joke of the celebration and were dry. Such an extreme disappointment!

By far one of Galveston's best businesses! The bakery is always clean and has a wide selection of goods each day. The staff is always smiling and welcoming customers in to the mesmerizing array of choices. Every cupcake is a winner, and my kids love the sugar cookies. One of my personal favorites is the almond petit fours. If you are in the mood for something decadent, try a Holy Cow! Everything is fresh. Spice cookies to lintzers, cupcakes to petit fours, they have what you're craving if it's baked. They even have dog treats!

We did not go to the bakery itself, but to the cafe beside it (the Mosquito Cafe), all their cakes come from Pattycakes. We got the triple dare chocolate cake and it was just melt-in-the mouth yummy. I like chocolate but stay far away from double chocolates or death by chocolate kind of stuff, but this , I could not stop after the first bite. Loved it. Loved it.

PattyCakes was fantastic! I needed a special cake for my dad's 100th birthday party for 50-60 guests. PattyCakes made not only a beautiful cake but delicious too (white lemon cake with white icing)! " Happy 100th Birthday Bill, to the greatest Grandaddy!" was perfectly written with embellishments! Very good value and exact on time. Also great treat for picking up the cake are PattyCakes other amazing baked treats! Always offer to pick up the cake! Thanks PattyCakes!

Local here- Yet again, I'm surprised that Patty Cakes stays open. I go in at 2 o'clock and ask for a coffee. They wouldn't serve me coffee because they had 'closed up' their machine (an hour early) . I don't get it ....if a customer wants something you sell, don't you serve it to them? Clean again the dang machine again- especially if you're not closing down for another hour and are just standing around. . It got me kind of frustrated so I didn't even get the few cakes iI wanted for guests that evening. Now their cakes and desserts are delicious but the service just continuously erodes my faith in their ability to do and sustain business. Kroger here I come-again.

Amazing!! I am a cupcake snob and if you are in the area, give this place a try!! I am bummed because I had planned on stopping on our way out and then left without stopping. Not only was the cake perfect the frosting was delicious as well.

Great service, nice selection! Took a minute to locate it, but glad we did! Loved the key lime tart & buckeye! My daughter said her cookies were great! My son liked the cookies & cream cake ball. We ordered the vanilla on vanilla cupcake, but it had a lemon hint to it & my daughter wasn't a fan. Note that there is not seating, it's grab & go. You're not far from the playground though, so just take your treats there lol! We ate ours on the ferry ride. :)

Whenever I eat across the street at Mosquito Cafe, I always get a slice of the Lemonade cake, which comes from PattyCakes bakery. The lemonade cake is always perfect! The flavor is good and perfect for sharing. Today I stopped in for a little treat. I bought a fudge pecan sandie and a holy cow. I should have bought more than one of the fudge pecan sandie, because it was so good but it was gone in two bites! Cute sign on the way in "treat yoself!" so I did! Yummy!

TLDR: Keto Options Available! Everything we got was LEGIT. They were some of, if not THE best, keto baked goods I've had... and that's saying a lot. Admittedly, the keto items are made Marinas Bakery in League City, but it was a godsend to have something like this available on the island to satisfy my sweet tooth. Kudos to the staff for explaining everything and providing the nutrition labels/pricing. I'll def be back to try their in house treats when not on keto. Service: 8.4/10 The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Food: 9.2/10 Keto Blueberry Loaf: 9.2/10 I am honestly floored by how good this was... even if I wasn't on keto, this would have still gone hard in the paint. The cake was moist and the crumble on top had a nice "sugary" texture that was lengths and bounds ahead of any other similar product I've tried in this category. Do it. Keto Croissant: 8.7/10 Is it the better than the traditional French croissant? Probably not... But it's near perfection when you're limiting carbs and the options are extremely limited. These were absolutely worth it! Do it. Keto Everything Bagel: 8.7/10 Bagels are such a difficult thing to emulate on a keto plan. These were also the best version I've had, and it's not even close. Do it. All in all, our experience was stellar. In a quick 5 minutes we were in and out... completely satisfied. It was pricey... $70 for a blueberry loaf, 4 croissants, and 5 bagels... but when you account for the fact that these were the best keto items out there... worth every penny. I say give this place a shot!

I (22) came in with my parents (50s) and boyfriend (25) this morning. First, my dad ordered and the staff were really nice to him. I was a little indecisive since they didn't have what I wanted, so I opted to try something else. When I ordered, I said "Can I get an apple tart?" & the lady (different from the 2 younger nice girls who took my dad's order) who took my order (maybe manager or owner) cut me off and aggressively said "How about, can I get an apple tart PLEASE? If I'm gonna treat you nice and with a smile, it should be reciprocated." I was taken aback... I was sweet and smiled when I ordered, but simply didn't say please and instead got lectured as if I was a child. This truly ruined my day and I couldn't bring myself to eat the apple tart and wish I would've told her never mind and not paid for it - instead I froze, was at a loss for words, and had to walk out because I began to tear up. I understand wanting to be treated with respect, but to berate someone who came in your store with a happy attitude and then ruin their day because they simply didn't add the word please is quite an excessive and knit-picky thing to get upset over. I'm very big on taking accountability, but I keep replaying this encounter and I don't think I deserve what had happened. Not every human says please every time they order somewhere - I've worked in customer service for several years and would never lecture anyone of any age or tell them to reword their request to my liking. Her coworkers appeared embarrassed by what she said and my dad tried to say "thought I raised them better than that" to alleviate the tension, but the damage was done. I spent the next several hours at the beach upset and my parents/boyfriend kept telling me that the lady was rude and that I didn't deserve that... but I'm bothered by the situation (maybe I'm too sensitive?). I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt and think maybe I was too soft spoken or that I came off rude, but my boyfriend and family said that wasn't the case. Maybe she was having a bad morning? Idk... nonetheless, my happy attitude was gone and I left feeling confused, upset, disrespected, mad, and caught off guard.

Came here after lunch and it was slim pickings, so went next door to Mosquito Cafe and got a slice of lemonade cake...yum! I believe Patty Cakes makes it.

Recommend the chocolate croissant! Chocolate chip cookie was ok. Cake ball was a good size and moist. Husband liked the pineapple empanadas. Cinnamon rolls were good. Very clean inside and the lady behind the counter was nice.

Stayed on Island for two nights prior to sailing on cruise. We celebrated my moms 90th birthday on this trip and needed a proper cake for photos, blowing candles and toasting our matriarch of the family. Happy we met these fabulous folks. They exceeded our expectations and everyone loved the flavor of the delicious cake!

The croissants and the cold sandwich in the fridge are my favorite on the go. To take home: the pies & babka. I have ordered a cake here, I'll probably order it again but ask for less sweetness or less frosting if that's possible.

Rude lady behind the counter today. Half of the staff there are usually nice and the other half act like you're bothering them just to order one simple thing. Today the woman did not hear me the first time, scrunched up her face all annoyed and said "what?" in a super short tone. Like a teenager. i know this place is probably busy with larger preorders..possibly stressed out..but when it's not busy at the counter no need for rudeness. Its a consistent thing here. Lots of rude service. Some employees are great. Hard to enjoy the treat you pay for when the service leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Rain or shine. Hot or cold. Fishing or sunbathing or eating seafood. No matter the reason we are in Galveston we always wind up at this Bakery. I bought an old school pie for my mother-in-law and it was amazing. My favorites are the cookies. My teenage daughter goes for the cake balls. My wife favors anything chocolate. This place smells amazing and has a really nice look to it. And of course, it smells delicious. We always walk out with a bakery box of goodies to enjoy.

Best cup cakes and bakery in Galveston. Have to stop by there if you haven't. Staff is always helpful and friendly.

We happened upon this gem and when we walked in the smell was amazing. They had just cooked some amazing cinnamon rolls that were still warm and fresh out of the oven. We devoured those along with some cupcakes and cake balls. Then later in the evening we came back for more. The employees were really sweet and helpful. Love it.

First off, after tax it was 8.50 for a chocolate croissant... still bought it because I wanted to try it out. Not the croissant I was looking for. Really big though if you're into that.

If you want a cake that tastes as good as it looks, order from here!! We were in town for my daughter's birthday and ordered this small cake to celebrate. The staff were all kind and helpful. She loved her cake and it was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!

Very nice place but a little pricey for my budget. I paid $12.99 for a small apple strudel. It was very good but not worth $12,99. I have my own baking business and would charge around 7 or 8 max. Great quality if price doesnt matter.

Buyers beware ! They are charging for food that you are not even getting. make sure to check your receipt. We got one croissant, one cupcake, and ten sand tart cookie. They charged me $28.00 for a dozen macaroons. And I have seen a few other reviews saying the same thing!!

BUYER BEWARE. I am insane. I went to this bakery this morning expecting to spend around $40. I purchased a coffee cake (about 1 lb), 6 small slices if chocolate rugalah, and one spinach and cheese croissant. They wrapped it all nicely and after I slipped in my credit card the total was SIXTY SEVEN DOLLARS. yes $67. I was on my way back to San Marcos and in a hurry so I hit accept and left with the goods. Yes, their products are excellent BUT that was ridiculous. BUYER BEWARE They are definitely GOUGING the public like all the other companies these day. I know I was stupid to pay them. I will NEVER go there again. Generally I've noticed that it's not inflation that's to blame anymore, it's gouging the middle class. Look at the bottom lines on large corporations and the executive salaries. We all keep buying.

Such a great selection of treats!!! And the lattes and coffee are equally good. Take a stroll through old town and stop in for something ooey gooey or sweet or savory!

Not sure about all the great reviews for this place. It was just O.K. to me. Oatmeal cookie-average Lemon bomb - good but had some strawberry filling in it. Chocolate Eclair-....ok. Husband said he has had better elsewhere. Maybe we went on an off day. Idk Return-don't think so

We love this bakery! We come here nearly every time we visit the island. This time we had the lemon sand which which was amazing! Also tried the linsor cookie and the vanilla cake petit four. Every bite was so moist and delicious! We were al so shoot with our treat we came back the next day to take some home to family.

We were staying in Galveston for my daughters 8th birthday. I ordered a cake in advance first via Facebook messenger then a phone call. They prefer a phone call over messenger which is fine. The process was easy. We ordered a 6 inch, one tier 3 layer vanilla cake with strawberry filling and custom fishing themed cake. Total was around 60 bucks. When we came to pick up, plenty of parking along the street so that was no problem. Cake was very cute. Very pleased. Since we weren't eating the cake until the next day(they were closed on Monday and that was the birthday), we got a couple of cupcakes. Vanilla on vanilla cake was great. Red velvet was dry for my taste. Sad face. As for the birthday cake. Frosting was DELICIOUS. Not too sugary or whipped creamy if you know what I mean. Decorations was totally cute. Daughter didn't like the strawberry filling but that was a preference thing. Still can't get over the creamy texture of the frosting. I'm more of a cake person over frosting (texture and taste sometimes doesn't agree with me) so it was a nice treat to actually eat the whole thing for a change. If in Galveston again would definitely try some of the other things. Highly recommend.

Called 10 minutes out and they had an assortment of 18 cookies waiting for me when I walked in. Fantastic customer service!

Cupcakes ok- didn't taste homemade the icing was good-5 Ginger spice cookie with icing- 10 The cinnamon straw/stick was good - 6 Chocolate covered macaroon- 10 Both of the items I rated an 10 was very good when it came to taste, texture. However I am rating this bakery low due to it been expensive- yes 4 cookie cost about six bucks and they had the nerve to asked for an tip. WTDTA Prices need to be listed or in sight for people to see!!

This place is pretty pricey, which I don't mind because they do have great stuff. This is my 4rth time to go here, and each time I am struck by the unfriendly behavior. I have never spent less than $40.00 at a time and usually more than that, as I am often buying for an occasion or for people at work. This morning the girl who rang me out was friendly but no one else was. Including who I am assuming is the owner. I asked how much a bag of Macaroons were and she quickly spat out $12.95 for a 12, without a smile, or any other acknowledgment than that. No eye contact or anything, maybe she isn't aware of how it comes off but feeling like I am being a bother when I am buying things is not something I am going to do anymore. (it would help if there were prices on the pre-packaged items but there are not) I ordered a couple of cupcakes for 2 different people at work for birthdays. (I also bought THE Macaroons and some mini zucchini cakes for Thanksgiving) First they were put in the same bag and turned over when I picked the bag up, then she did then offer me a second bag so they could be own their own. Unfortunately by the time I got to work they were both turned each which way, absolutely ruining the presentation for both, this container is way to big for these cupcakes.

Have loved this place for a long time, but it had been a number of years since we'd been back. I'd also had a wheat allergy diagnosed in the meantime (ugh). We popped by yesterday for an afternoon treat, and be still my gluten-free heart! SEVERAL delicious GF and keto options - including petit fours which I hadn't been able to have in so long! And lots of not just GF but gum-free options too. So come for the lemonade dream cake (or the Holy Cow, or the cake balls, or the macaroons, or....) and you can also come for truly scrumptious GF sugar heaven (everything in the case marked w a gold star is GF). We were here from out of town for our little ones 3rd birthday and ordered a u i corn cake I purchased the topper from amazon. They were very nice and the cake was adorable and delicious. A little pricey but was perfect

Super cute bakery, staff was friendly and lots of options to choose from. Our group got a variety of sweets and no one was disappointed. A definite stop for sure.

I was really looking forward to nice treats for the family. Super disappointed, cup cakes dry, cake balls dry as well, frosting really generic, and crusty on top of the cupcakes. My children tried both and said no thank you. Ugh Paid 31 dollars for 3 cupcakes, 3 cake balls and a pecan tart (little one) Just threw the money away...

We had 5 different items today and they were all spectacular. All super fresh and very very good. We will be back for sure. Wasn't thinking about a review so no pictures this time.

Oh my my! We have friends who have a home in Terramar that we visit from time to time! My friend took me here and I'm so happy to discover this place! BEST gluten free bread, bagels and muffins on the planet and low carb!! But wait! That's not all! Their coffee cakes and variety of items are so yummy! I can't wait to get my hands on one of those delicious looking croissants!! Love supporting local small business! This one is a keeper for sure!

PattyCakes, located across the street from the Mosquito Cafe, is absolutely the best. The cafe actually purchased it dessert offerings as well as breads for their menu offerings. There is no dine in option, simply a stop, look (and drool) , and purchase. Adjacent to the register there is a refrigerated display of a wide range of goodies from petit fours, small cakes, cookies, and dessert bars. Recommendation :PLEASE try the Ooey Gooey bars...they're BEYOND delicious!

I bought a vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. It wasn't good. First I got the gritty frosting with a real strong artificial flavor. No butter . This was so over powering. When I wiped that off and tried the cake, it was dry. Very dry. It was a waste the whole thing got tossed

Downfall is the lack of pricing. Didn't want to ask for prices on so many items that caught my eye. Did get a few things and the total seemed a bit high compared to similar items from other bakeries. They were busy and parking was starting to get scarce. Lots of variety and things looked very tasty. Would have bought more if pricing was up front and clearly marked. As for the taste of the cookies I bought, they were not bad. The pie was also okay.

Really loved this place in the past. I ordered 2 lemon cupcakes and a petit four. It was $14.49. I said whoa! She said something like if you go in somewhere and prices aren't listed you should know and that prices have gone up. I told her I had been there many times before and yes the price of everything has gone up. Is this how you act to your customer? Then the lemon cupcake was dried out - guess it must have been there for awhile - the icing was good! The petit four was very cold but really good- frozen? I like to go to businesses that appreciate their customers so I probably will not return.
