Ghent Is Challenging Antwerp as Belgium’s Capital of Cool | Vogue
"Known for its Michelin-recommended sweetbread fritters, this restaurant leans into rich, traditional Flemish flavors, positioning itself as a destination for diners seeking elevated takes on local specialties within a more classic culinary framework." - Lindsay Cohn
"A meal in this elegant colonial-style villa is a must for any self-respecting food aficionado. A superb riverside terrace by the Lys, a bustling vibe and old-fashioned table service set the scene at Patyntje, without forgetting the extensive menu of Belgian brasserie favourites. Timeless classics such as eels in sorrel, vol-au-vent and carbonade flamande (stew) prepared with textbook skill and care. Don’t miss the sweetbread fritters – one of the Michelin inspectors’ favourites since time immemorial…" - Michelin Inspector
The villa turned restaurant is located in a chique neighborhood in Ghent. We were seated inside at the window by the friendly hostess. The service in general is very friendly and the food is really good. I had the asparagus soup for starter and the penne arrabiata as my main course. My dinner party had the sweetbread croquettes for starter (really good according to them). We drank some beers with that, which meant (at least according to their menu at least) that we were having breakfast 😁

Wonderful place, exquisite food, excellent treatment, extremely honest prices. It was my birthday, so it was a special date in a special place. Besides all of these, they also have a spacious parking. It couldn't get any better ! Unbeatable !!

Fancy place, wear tuxedos kind of fancy… My husband and I came here on a quiet Saturday evening. The food is good. Drinks good. Atmosphere is great outside. Very expensive though but that is expected of this place. The waiters are alright.

A hidden gem just outside the touristy center of Ghent — well worth the short drive. This cozy spot serves traditional Flemish dishes full of heart and flavor. The food was rich and satisfying, but it was the service that truly made the experience special. Our waiter was warm, thoughtful, and effortlessly attentive, even taking our daughter to meet the chef — a small gesture that made a big impression. We’d return in a heartbeat.

Excellent restaurant that feels calm and remote, yet is rather close to the more vivid parts of Ghent. Very welcoming staff and great food add to the heartwarming experience! Looking forward to the summer to be seated on the front porch!

Too expensive for what it's worth. Used to be much better. The staff is very friendly though.

Classic Belgian brasserie in a very nice colonial house. Covered terrasse for the not-so-sunny Belgian summer days (or the smokers) and wide parking with electric loading pole.
Classic menu on the "rich side": cabillaud sauce mousseline and poached egg, carbonnades à la bière, steak frites...
Comforting winter food. Fries à bit too oily for my taste.
