Brownies in this store are the best in the world! The day I went was Tuesday, but it was a shame because it was a regular holiday. I wanted to do shopping.

Will go to the other location. Went I go to the location soon. The best chocolate I enjoy.

The staff don’t seem very happy to be there, or have you in the shop. When trying to make a decision on which truffles to buy, I asked the lady serving us what she’d recommend. She mumbled back, “I like the booze ones”, and that was that. It‘s a shame, because buying chocolate is supposed to be a really fun experience. It is to me, anyway. The products are fab and I would definitely come back for more, hopefully with friendlier service next time.

Lovely experience. I picked up a gift box of truffles and some brownies for my partner and me, and was taken aback by the service. The woman serving was happy to offer recommendations and to chat away with me endlessly about chocolate. The presentation of everything I got was superb: the truffles themselves, the gift box, the bag, instructions for storing the chocolates (if they survive the night) and a handwritten 'key' telling you which of your truffles are which. It all felt very special. Perfect for gift shopping. To the chocolate: the truffles were all very tasty - delicate, distinct and interesting. The Bakewell Tart and Persian Spice truffles were probably my favourites, though I can see why their Sea Salted Caramel is so acclaimed. The Tobacco Caramel I picked up in a fit of pique was very interesting, and definitely worth a try. The brownies didn't stand out terribly for me, despite rave reviews. They're certainly very rich and chocolatey, though thankfully not to the point of being sickly, but I just felt like something was missing from them somehow. All in all very impressed, and will certainly be going back for another box of truffles before too long!

Update: if you haven't visited for the ice cream yet, you should. It's divine. And when drenched in some Paul Young chocolate, you'll think you're in heaven. ------ This is, quite simply, the best chocolate in the world. I've tried nearly every brand of chocolate, so I can say that with confidence. :) Seriously, though, it really is quite astounding chocolate, with flavors far more interesting than you'll find in most places. I especially like the sea salt caramel - I'm given to understand it's far and away their most popular. Makes sense to me. I would also call out the goat cheese as being a very pleasant surprise.

Always a fabulous experience at this gorgeous chocolatiers. Our go to place for buying chocolates for gifts, and when I'm lucky my boyfriend even buys me a box too! Delicious inventive flavours as well as the more classic combinations. Always divine and always gorgeously presented.

After visiting the shop in Angel yesterday, I'm really not surprised that the business is struggling. Not many truffles left on display - they had about third of their selection. Not sure if they had any more at the back because I was never served. After 30 mins wait outside in the rain, I gave up and left (still being 5th in line). 3 people working there, only 1 serving customers while the other 2 packed online orders just watching customers getting more and more frustrated. The girl serving was extremely slow, every time a customer was buying truffles, she needed to put a box together - can they not be prepared in advance to speed things up?!!! Once truffles were in the box, she would put everything through on the till and take a payment. Why can't there be one person on the till so she can serve next customer straight away?!!!!! Week before Christmas and such a waste of time! If you charge customers such riddiculous money for your product, at least learn how to provide a good service (it will help your business too). Now I'm taking my money elsewhere.

The best chocs in London in my opinion. Pure heaven. Note if you're buying a box for your sweetie, buy a bigger box or better yet another box---because once you leave the lovely city of London you cannot get them any longer! Salted caramel is beyond words it's so fabulous. To be honest, all are excellent. Always ask the shop workers for guidance if you're unsure. I find their advice is stellar. If it's chilly outside you must get a hot chocolate to go. Paul A Young is a must on my London list. Lucky for me it's at Camden Passage, one of my faves. The chocolate lover in you will be sad if you miss it!

THE BEST CHOCOLATE SHOP EVEEEERRRRR! I love this place, and happily receive a box for most special occasions (Christmas, Valentine's, Birthday, Anniversary etc) Paul.A.Young is really an expert in this field and now having done his Sea Salted Caramel masterclass, I can vouch for the true quality and expertise of his chocolates. Everything is handmade by expert chocolatiers in the kitchen downstairs and most of the chocolates in his shop are on display for a maximum of 7days (although from what we've been told they rarely even stay out there for that long as they're quickly snapped up by their regular stream of customers). My recommendation is the Sea Salted Caramel chocolate - it's like a little bit of heaven in your mouth! The Passion fruit and peanut butter chocolates are strong contenders too, but as he regularly creates new innovative chocolate combinations I recommend always trying something different in your box selection... Even the marmite chocolate was delicious (now that says a lot!)

This has to be the best chocolate shop in London. Its certainly not cheap, so I think they might know it already. The chocolate is amazing, full of spices and flavors that you never would have thought to put together. I tried a slice of white chocolate with masala spices which was minty, sweet and spicy. Also tried some dark chocolate with a strong chili aftertaste. I got some hot chocolate to go, which was perfect for a winters day. They do small cups for 1.50, and larger ones for 3, all from hand-roasted cocoa from their kitchen. There is no milk in it, and its rather thick, leaving a lovely aftertaste in your mouth. This is what real chocolate tastes like... try it!

Placed online order for shipment and was charged. No updates received on the order status and multiple emails went unanswered. Even tried calling 2 different numbers (I am in the US) and the mailbox would not accept any messages. I understand their chocolates are delicious but they should not have an online store if they can't provide any level of customer service. Have no idea if I will get my money refunded or if the items order will ever ship. Very disappointing. I was trying to support local businesses in the area I was shipping. I understand the challenges of the pandemic and the Valentine's rush but no response and no way to contact them is not really an acceptable way to do business.

I've been a regular customer of Paul A. Young for a while, since back when salted caramel was only just hitting mainstream. I still buy those caramels, because frankly they're delicious. The only problem with all of the stores I've visited is that they're pretty small (and I'm not) so I have to be very aware of my turning circle - especially when I have a bag. The last thing I want to do is knock £200 worth of brownies across the shop. At least this one doesn't have that fragile looking display of truffles like the one in soho. I'm frankly scared to go near that thing (but still do - they're worth it). The other issue is that the staff aren't always the friendliest. But the chocolates make up for it every single time. Like I said, I still get those salted caramels, but they're no longer my favourite. Instead I love, love, love, the peanut butter and raspberry truffles. Sure they're just PB&J really, but I really like them. Other plus points - generally brownie samples are on offer, and if you're lucky then you'll pick a piece which is stuck to several others... oh well, I've touched them all now, so I'll guess that I'll have to eat them all. Not the whole bowl - I'm piggy, but not that bad. Plus I don't normally even like brownies, but I really like the Paul A. Young ones.

A chocolate fanatic by nature, I'm always wanting to try new chocolate shops. This shop wafts out the heady scent of real chocolate as you pass by it. Entering it, your olfactory senses are treated to the delicious delights of proper chocolate made without oil and excessive amounts of sugar. The flavours were unique and different - from the 40 year old whisky chocolates through the cassis chocolates to the bulk standard milk chocolate truffles, these chocolates are a delight. They have a short shelf life so treat yourself to only a few and keep going back again and again. ----- I was recently involved in a Qype tasting event here. While my entheuasm for Paul's chocolates had waned in the time between visits as new sensory overload in chocolate form was constantly being sought, this reminded me why I say that Paul A Young chocolates are like an orgasm for my mouth. The exquisite sensory experience of the mingling of flavours which compliment and build on each other is rare and having someone explain chocolate as a taste experience which had to be built much as a composer builds a symphony elegantly illustrated why this man makes great chocolate. Being able to participage in this tasting was a rare honour and I would highly recommend it as a party, corporate event or just because you want to treat yourself to an experience like no other. I've been coming here for years, and with these prices, that's saying a lot. I have the cookbook (but never made anything from it - story of my life). We've done a chocolate tasting with him before years ago - maybe 5? - at a Taste of London Christmas or something like that. He explained lots about what he does and how they try new combos and even though I was already a fan, it made me appreciate it even more. My favourites are the sea salted caramel and the peanut butter and jelly. I went in today and got 8 truffles for 2 of us - 2 PBJ, 2 caramel, a rum & raisin, a cherry kirsch, an advocaat, and a pecan something. The advocaat was delicious, and husband liked his rum & raisin too. We'll try to savour the rest but it won't happen... Alas, at £14 for 8, it'll be a while before we have them again!

Excellent chocolates. Samples available. Small, well organized shop with knowledgeable shop keepers. They aren't pushy or rude. Walked out with my custom assortment of chocolate goodness to enjoy once I returned back to the States. The dark chocolate choices are amazing. I love that they have so many. Paul certainly knows his chocolate. I will return when I'm back in London.

So pricey but absolutely delicious chocolate, brownies and now they serve ice cream!! (for the summer, maybe?) They also have a chocolate cookbook and hosts a popular chocolate making course.

I have never been more willing to pay £7 for four chocolates. Though damn expensive, this is probably as good as chocolate gets. Whether it's the regular, single chocolates (they also make new ones for different occasions i.e Halloween, Christmas etc.) or the brownies or the hot chocolate or anything else, it's well worth paying the extra for. For Easter I picked up, for myself, an egg filled with their (award winning!) sea salted caramel. It even came in it's own egg cup and a little spoon to eat the caramel... ... Sorry, I had a flashback. A tasty, tasty flashback. Great for gifts, better for decadent self-indulgence. I love this place. TTFN, Ian

The way to my heart is chocolates.... Yummy is the word that comes to my mind when I come here! I love the brownies here, it is a little piece of heaven when you bite into one of these babies. They are so sweet and nice here, the service is impeccable. I think I gained at least a stone walking out of here, they are so generous with giving samples. The truffles are wonderful you can't go wrong with anything here!

Watch out as you walk in that you don't slip on the puddle of drool I may have left by the door. During Chocolate Week I was given one of Paul's Chocolate Brownies to taste, sitting in bed, quite smug with my self I devoured part of it while watching TV. After popping to the kitchen to get a glass of water to assist with the scoffing and sick feeling I felt coming on, I returned to find my brownie gone. Yep, that is right, there is a brownie burglar in the area watch out. Now my other half swears he hadn't seen it yet on closer inspection I could spot a gooey brown spot on the right corner of his mouth. Still I must take his word! And the mystery of the missing brownie has yet to be solved. Anyway, so you can see that the goods in this shop are... well... good! But their staff have a bit of work to do. I was with my mum and wanted to by her a brownie that she could share with my dad when she went home (better than a post card from London anyway!). So walking in they could hear me passionately bigging up their products yet it took 5 minutes of the just milling about behind the till before they came around to take my money. So the brownie is £3.50, I would pay £10 for it - it's that good!

I like to think that not being lactose intolerant is a personal gift from baby jesus. I know we're the only mammals that consume dairy after being raised but I think I would explode without cheese, ice cream, and chocolates. Paul A Young reminds me of my addiction in a big way. They do amazing truffles and even some dairy-free for those that can't fully enjoy chocolate like the rest of us (sucks to be you!), and a devilish hot chocolate. Those who know me know how I have an affinity for hot seasonal beverages, and when I can purchase one while being surrounded by perfect little chocolates begging to hop in my face...I'm clearly in heaven.

How does Paul Young ever expect anyone to eat a brownie crafted by anyone else, ever again? Once you have sampled this most exquisite morsel you will be asking the same question. How impairing. Sigh.

The brownies are so expensive, but so good! melt in your mouth delicious, like another reviewer said, any price for that brownie. chocolate brownie special!!! AHH YEAH! I'm definitely buying some for my trip back to America, I am going to make some people smile....

Walking into Paul A. Young is the chocolate equivalent of wandering into Alexander McQueen on Bond Street - there are lots of gorgeous things available to tempt you but you are not sure how the products on display can cost that much. Thankfully, prices here are not at McQueen levels meaning that you can find out for yourself. For me, these are some of the best chocolates that I have ever tasted. The chocolate is dense and rich and the flavourings powerful and interesting. My favourite is the salted caramel chocolate bars. The caramel is wonderfully powerful and a hint of salt sets it off perfectly. In the summer, I pop in for scoops of salted caramel ice cream. The salted caramel flavour in the ice cream is just as good as it is in the chocolates. I think I might be addicted.

Came here over the weekend to take advantage of their free truffle birthday offer. Tried the raspberry ganache truffle. 'Twas heavenly. Also sampled more than my fair share of the new chocolate-covered Brazilian coffee beans. Chocolate and coffee beans are a combination which cannot be beat. Ended up walking away with two bars of chocolate - one Amano and one Mast Brothers. Amano won Best Chocolate Bar in the Chocolate Awards last year (man, what I'd give to be on the voting panel for that award), while Mast Brothers bars are apparently not available outside of New York... until now! Both bars were £8.95 each, cheaper that the £10 Fortnum & Mason sells them for.

Chocolate truffles have to be up there as one of my favourite foods of all time. They would definitely feature in my last meal on earth, maybe as an accompaniment to my tea and petite fours (I might as well spin this meal out if it's going to be my last one of all time!) Paul A Young's Fine Chocolates makes some of the best truffles I've ever eaten in my life. The chocolate centre is intensely rich and smooth. When I eat these I like to imagine myself in one of those chocolate adverts on the telly where the woman starts to move incredibly slowly and lets the chocolate sit on her lips for way to long. Basically I turn into some pornographic chocolate eating machine. If your love of truffles, or chocolate in general is anything like mine then i would well recommend a visit to this shop. No it's not cheap but let's get things into perspective here- it's not like you've popped down to the corner shop to grab a couple of dairy milk and a chomp- this is some of the best chocolate you will ever taste. Delicious!

I think this shop deserves 5 stars because its originality. If there is something that I love most than chocolate, it's to try different flavours and combinations. There are so many varieties, and many of them are available for customers to try. I tasted Marmite chocolate (a new one they were offering) and yes, I thought it was awful and hated it with passion, but I can say I try such thing! I left with a small box of 4 truffles (I didn't want to spend half of my savings there, it was so expensive, but still couldn't resist to buy something). I chose the most popular, salted caramel and then 3 more atypical ones (goat cheese, raspberry infused and vodka, I believe, and basil and lime). The girl was so friendly and nice and when I paid she gave me an additional salted caramel truffle :) I'd not say I will come back because of the prices (well, maybe I go to try the ice cream ^) but I do recommend any chocolate lover or just very curious foodie to give this shop a try.

Nom nom nom nom... They will give you (FREE!) samples of their chocolates to help you choose from the bazillion different flavors. This is wonderful but may lead to indecision ("Geez, I'm not sure better taste again!") and weight gain. Also, Camden Passage is a really cute street which makes this totally worth a special out of the way trip.

If you want overpriced, uninventive chocolate to be begrudgingly packaged up and sold to you by people who won't even look you in the eye, then this is the place for you. To be fair, the samples of milk chocolate for baking were pretty delicious. But I've had better brownies from my office cafeteria. And the few "innovative" options that they offered were so imbalanced (the stollen truffle may as well have been pure alcohol) that they only disappointed. Will avoid Paul's shops in the future given the extremely high price-to-quality ratio, and would recommend that everyone avoids this specific shop given the rude staff. I actually had such a bad experience that I made this Yelp account *just* to warn others about this shop.

Teeny tiny place with the most adorable HOT CHOCOLATE! Very pricey but a great place for gifts, I know it served me well over the last Christmas. The first time I went in there I found it very hard to leave. It doesn't help that the staff are lovely and more than willing to give you tasters. Some of the varieties of chocolate are a bit, erm.. imaginative. We had to take a photograph of the Paul's Marmite Chocolate! I have to make an effort not to walk past this place anymore. It's too tempting.

This guy Paul really knows chocolate. With a long CV full of chocolate related activities and awards, he decided to open his own store, that became a success story. My favorite is the hot chocolate, that is so thick and real, you can just crap with you if happen to walk by. It is not cheap that is for sure, but again, hand made in their chocolate kitchen from real cocoa! Oh Paul you are the best!

Oh my god the brownies here are amazing. I have a constant battle with myself whenever I walk past whether to go in and nab a sample or whether I think it would be just too shameful. Usually option number 1 wins. The chocolate bars are really astounding too, really simply and quite masculinely packaged dark dark chocolate in all sorts of wild flavours. One of my favourites comes with black pepper, a spicy, wintry little bar to nibble on. The hot chocolate to take away is also dangerously delicious and you can add your own Aztec spices which sounds wonderfully exotic and tastes dreamy.

Back in October, my husband and I went to an event of chocolate and whisky tasting. A belated wedding anniversary gift from my parents, which made sense since he loves whisky and I love chocolate. Who is Paul? We did not know back then about this young talented chef. We had a blast at the event everything we tried we loved, even the peanut based chocolates (generally I don't appreciate too much). So it was only natural that when I heard hey had another shop in Angel (we went to the one in Bank), I really, really wanted to go. The brownies are by far the best one I've had, they're chewy, moist, full of guilt but sublime. I can't imagine working there, it must be so difficult to keep your waistline as the smell and the production kitchen are just downstairs!

mmmmmmm I love this place. I'm already salivating. Full disclosure: I'm a true chocolate aficionado. My top picks include: the brownies (ALL), the hot chocolate, and the sea salted caramel chocolates. If you haven't been, you're missing out. Just walk in and smell and you'll see exactly what I mean.

Heavens to Betsy. Another 5-star review. Either I'm overcompensating for the misery of Monday morning or this place must be untouchably good. So. Chocolate. There used to be a wonderful shop - now defunct - in Kensington called Pierre Marcolini. In it, I thought the art of the chocolatier had reached its apotheosis. I was so, so wrong. Mr Young, clever chap that he is, creates gourmet chocs. In the modern climate of luxury and authenticity in everything, one might almost think So far, so ordinary. One would be a bit of a flump, though, because this is a dark and depraved journey through the senses which will leave you shivering, panting, not quite sated and desperate for more. It's much like I imagine being bitten by a particularly attractive vampire to be. So you have clever little concoctions of satsuma, or lime, or basil, or - believe me - port & stilton, or Marmite (apparently the result of a dare from a newspaper journalist) or literally squillions of other creations. They can't promise that your favourite will be available, because they make them freshly every week and they don't keep them. If they're not sold, they're not eaten. There's no call on whether they follow the Pret a Manger school for the disposal of unwanted comestibles, though. Basically, this chap sticks things in a chocolate shell that almost certainly shouldn't be there, and makes it work with blissful results. It's a bit like listening to 2 Many DJs. It shouldn't sound good, but it does. Go, talk to the lovely staff, and dare to try and leave without buying something. Go on. Do it. Bet you can't.

I got given a small box of one type of their chocolates for Christmas. I'm still trying to work out if they had just the fruit and nuts listed in, or some secret ingredient. The taste was rather unique! And that's one of their more conventional choices! It's on my list of places where I want an excuse to try more but when I wandered in for a nosey without buying, the staff seemed nice. Irresistible if I could justify spending £10 for a very small box of chocs!

Update I won a box of these in the Qype/ Action against hunger raffle and they were very tasty. A few of the flavours my friends and I weren't really sure about, but the sea slat caramel is really something special. Can you all buy me a box please? No? Oh. Update I really really like it in here. I do. And I appreciate how much effort goes into making the chocolates. BUT £13 for 9 chocolates is really over priced in my opinion. I'd come in with the full intention of blowing some cash, and just didn't feel I could justify it. It's very rare I change my mind once I've decided to spend my money. I can't afford to shop in here, I'd love to be able to, and I'm willing to spend a lot to get something good. But I just feel like this place is over priced. I want to give it more stars, but I don't feel they're justified. That said, I did buy some sea salt caramel ice cream, and that was rather yummy indeed. At least I can afford that. Even at £3.50 it was expensive for a little scoop, but it was yummy. I'll just have to wait until someone buys me some chocolates from here, because I won't pay for them.

Having heard the consistent raves about Paul A Young's chocolates I was excited to go to a Qype event to try them out. The event itself was great with Paul giving up lots of his time to teach us about cocoa beans and how to taste the different types of chocolates. However the highlight of course was the chocolate themselves. When I ate the sea salted caramel chocolates I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. As previous review have pointed out the only bad thing about Paul A Young chocolates are the price tag. Special occasion only but if you give them to someone who appreciates chocolates they will love you forever.

You'd think that heatwaves and credit crunches would depress chocolate sales but apparently not, according to Paul A Young. And his little shop tucked down Camden Passage in Islington is the perfect place to escape to on a hot day, with its delightfully cool temperature and heady chocolate-scented atmosphere. Forget Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, you don't need a golden ticket to get in here. And whatever your taste in choccy, whether its the milky toffeeness of childhood memories or the sophistication of the darkest dark chocolate from darkest South America, you'll find more than one tempting confection to amuse your bouche. If you have a sweet tooth, try Paul's signature truffle of caramel and sea salt (really, you'll be amazed). For a more delicate and unusual experience, I can recommend the sake and fennel truffle. And there's a plethora of other flavours to drool over and choose from. A box of these truffles would make a lovely gift and is bound to impress. Or for pure self-indulgence, buy a brownie. Just remember, chocolate is good for you!

This shop is one of my absolute favourites: a cool, appealing space absolutely full of incredibly tempting chocolate treats. There are bars in unusual flavours (lavender, szechuan pepper), ridiculously rich brownies, large cubes of chocolate marzipan and more. However, the absolute highlight is the counter of chocolates. The salted caramels are always there, and are just incredible - I've tasted many versions, and these are definitely the best. Other regulars include splendid champagne truffles. There is also, though, a changing selection of flavours which are often inventive - goat's cheese and lemon, port and stilton and marmite all sound wrong but taste very right - and include fine ingredients such as unusual fruit or high-quality alcohol. They are presented in beautiful, solid boxes tied with ribbon so they look as special as they taste (and as expensive as they, understandably, are). The staff are always really pleasant and happy to discuss your selection with you. And don't forget to look in the freezer, which contains delicious ice creams served with chocolate sauce which sets solid - a very adult Ice Magic!

Fantastic little shop with the most tempting chocolate treats. I love to imagine a miniature version of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory in the basement of the shop, where I understand the chocolates are prepared. If I had to choose one word to sum up Paul A Young Fine Chocolates: irresistible. A bit on the pricey side, but is it any wonder? This is a true chocolate lover's dream, and it's obvious how much love is put into making each piece. Now, all they need is a Juliette Binoche-like vendeuse. Then, it would be truly perfect.

Paul A Young is a purveyor of class A, super addictive, choco drugs. The last time I popped a sea salted caramel truffle into my mouth it sent shovers - literally shivers - down my spine until my toes curled. I've tried a lot of the wonderful flavours from sage and onion stuffing to Xmas pud, from marmite to port and stilton. No matter how bizarre, they are all so very very good. This man is the Blumenthal of cocoa. It's very expensive and I don't care - sometimes you have to pay for quality. If it they were illegal I'd be first in line on the corner with a roll of grubby tenners. The hot chocolate is divine, not too sweet, no dairy, just intense botter-sweet and spicy chocolate. A cup of warn joy. And you can buy it to take home. Bliss. Surely it's shouldn't be allowed. But it is. Get there, flash your cash and buy a piece of chocolate heaven - I promise you won't be disappointed.

If you want absolutely divine salted caramel truffles or to choose an array of chocolates that will blow someone's mind or score you a few brownie points, then look no further. I am determined to try the marmite truffle when I next come here, or collect a chocolate tulip next time the mood takes me. This place isn't cheap but every truffle is handmade, very creatively crafted and the quality of the chocolate speaks for itself. You can also buy small bars of exquisite loveliness too. (Just don't look at the price tag) Instead I advise you to unwrap and taste the chocolate and allow yourself to float off to a cocoa fuelled nirvana. In winter they make hot chocolate too and ice cream can also be purchased. You can also buy pots of their salted caramel by the pot and I strongly advise you to give this as a gift as it won't last long in your cupboard, and if you had any intentions of being on a diet then you can forget about that one too. The staff are always very friendly, helpful and happy to assist on any queries. There are also one or two that are generous and let you taste the odd truffle before buying as well.

I'm going to have to agree with Siany here about the prices- Of course with quality there comes a price tag, and while I didn't expect to spend Thornton's prices for top notch chocolate I was hoping to have some of my student overdraft left after buying some sweet treats. However, this is the only problem with Paul A Young, and the produce really is out of this world. My nearly favourite things would have to be the brownies and the little bags of nuts covered in salty chocolate, but the number one, 'oh my god so good I think I just died and went to heaven' product has got to be the salt caramel sauce. Seriously. It. Is. Better. Than. Sex. For Easter this year my dearest Mum bought me an easter egg from here; It was a dark chocolate shell filled with the salt caramel, and it came with a little spoon which was quickly cast aside. It was the best thing I've eaten this year. Oh god. I'm going to have to cut this review short as I'm getting major cravings, but really, if you have the cash then get yourself to Paul A Youngs, and if you don't, save up and buy a jar of salt caramel, some ice cream and a massive spoon. Or Ladle.

The words wibble and nom spring to mind. But not necessarily in that order. London is, well, if not full of decent chocolatiers, then pretty decently served. I love Artisan - it's not Christmas without their chocolate candied peel - and Mr Curley down in Richmond can do no wrong, but for us North London types, Mr Young is where it's at. As well as being a blooming nice bloke - and sharing his name, sort of, with the blue-eyed soul singer who got me through the early 80s - Paul makes damn fine chocolates. They're the sort of chocolates you give to people and then watch as they idly take one, pop it in their mouth and then gently tail off from what they were saying as they realise that this is no ordinary piece of confectionary. It's good chocolate. It's glorious fillings. It's the sort of treat a tongue was made for.

Expensive but delicious chocolate and chocolate products (aka BROWNIE) sold by unfriendly service people here. I had a great cup of hot chocolate (thick and made with spices including red hot chilli peppers per request) and could only finish a quarter of my small cup as I was full. Definitely stop by before the cold weather is over!

Enjoyed the personal service and of course the orgasmic delights!! My favourite was white chocolate with sesame and a hint of sea salt. Will be emptying my wallet on a regular occassion for friends and a special treat for myself.

If there was one substance I had to choke to death on it would be Paul A Young's Sea Salted Caramel... It is possible that the first few customers to ever try such a thing had a Peter Kay moment a la 'Garlic Bread'. But their bravery would have been rewarded with a juxtaposition of flavours they had never even dreamt possible. Sea Salted Caramel is like mixing a Crocodile with a Bunny Rabbit. On paper it will never work. The Crocodile will overpower poor little Bugsy and not even Mick Dundee will be able to save him from ending up as a fur-ball in the back of Mr. Croc's throat. But for some reason (and I'm no chef here) it just works. The bitter, salty infusion tickles the velvety, honey-rich caramel and they end up in an eternal, passionate clinch. This is no cheap stand-up comedy observation but food-porn at it's best.

You guys need to try the hot chocolate from this place - it's amazing. Although, it is just melted chocolate, so make sure you have someone to share it with because you'll be feeling a little on the sick side at the end of it. With regards to the rest of the chocolate on offer, well it's pretty good stuff. The brownie in particular is highly recommended. It's worth having a try of some of the more unusual flavours on offer - there are some real gems, although I did come across one that tasted of mould (and yes, it was meant to taste like that!). I can't stop the other half from walking in when we stumble past, so I may as well make the most of it! I would definitely recommend some of the product in here for Xmas presents - it'll go down a treat.

They have THE best brownies I have ever tasted! The only way to do the intresting flavours and quality of the chocolate here justice is to visit. If the have ice cream, try it. If it's winter try the hot choc! Enjoy.

A child's dream for those who like sweet the dream of the greedy pleasure in the mouth

If you are chocolate lover, this place is a must. Is one of the few master chocolatiers in UK. I had a chocolate master-class there and Paul Young itself explained us about the different types and different qualities. The brownies are excellent and extremely rich.Highly recommend it!

I once saw Paul A. Young here in the back doing this thing and had to stop from giving him a huge hug for making my rainy Mondays absolutely glorious. I restrained myself, so as not to alarm him and get myself blacklisted from heaven-at-angel (haha get it? ok I write poor puns). HOT CHOCOLATE. Gorgeous, thick, and more than worthy of the praise lavished upon it by everyone. It's not thin or milky, but gorgeous and thick in the brave continental European style. The special trick is that you get to mix in a spice of your choice with every cup - cardamom is my favourite, it is like drinking chocolate blended with flowery perfume. Other spices are nutmeg, cayenne, cinnamon, and paprika. You can only get these to go, but I reckon it is for the best as Mr. Young knows that providing a real place to sit and hang out means that people won't ever leave. Chocolates are exquisite, and very creative. I am from the Philippines and was delighted and surprised by him using kalamansi, these small thimble-sized lemons we grow at home, in his chocolate. The brownie is intense, more like fudge than a brownie, so I am curious what would happen if I were to bake it just a little bit more at home, to make it more cakey? It is absolutely worth it to plan a trip out to Angel just to visit this place. PS UPDATE May 9: Hot chocolate has been repalced with ICE CREAM!!!

Marvellously, exquisitely delicious. The absolute perfect (emphasis on perfect) place to purchase a gift for a chocoholic. I am a chocoholic myself. I eat chocolate every day and am the type of person to have it for breakfast. My guilty pleasure is to buy boxes and boxes of chocolates to devour. Never have I come across a collection that I would want to savour as much as Paul A Young's. I have tasted many collections from Thorntons to Godiva to Artisan du Chocolat to many, many more. Please bare in mind that I once bought 10 various varieties of boxes of chocolate from Artisan du Chocolat and finished them within a week. In my opinion these main brands, though formidable, pale in comparison of Paul A Young. I feel as though I have been on a journey I wasn't aware of and have found the perfect chocolates and the holy grail of confectionary. One must definitely try to understand the greatness of these masterpieces. I opted for a 25 piece box for a fair price of £40 so I could try one of each creation and each brings something unique to the table, it isn't simply just chocolate it is much much more, they have different textures and smells and tastes, I cannot simply put in words how the flavours dance on my tastebuds. I can confidently say that I do not want to purchase chocolate anywhere else besides here. I visited initially for their famous hot chocolate which is rich and velvety a definite must try. I am definitely coming here again to stock up on a few boxes. I am very pleased with my purchases and highly recommend this place for chocolate lovers.

This place is one in a million. Each time I walk past I have to slap myself to not go in and i indulge. Although, I have treated myself to the brownies which are to die for. The fennel chocolate that comes in big squares is also sublime.

Today a man named Paul A. Young introduced me to his chocolate brownie. To say I am unchanged from this experience would be a lie. I knew it was fate from the start, when I felt that first rush as the perfect square was placed in my hand. As the brownie lay delicately before me, I whispered gently "I'm ready to love you. Wholly. Completely." This dark, dense bit of matter suddenly yet calmly met my taste buds in what transformed into a brilliant and timeless pas de deux. I felt my heart cry out to not swallow- the end of something so wonderful would be impossible to overcome. Yet the greed deep within me shouted for me to quickly swallow and take another bite. More, I beg you! More! The greed in me was overpowering. Hours, days seemed to pass us by. We held infinity in our hands, and eternity in an hour. And as the final bite sat lonely and cold in front of me, I felt my eyes began to sting. How could it be over so soon? How can something so marvellous and so pure be thrust in front of me and then viscously taken away? What kind of cruel world are we living in? Why, God, why?! That last bite still sits before me. I am unable to bring this blessed matrimony to an end. There is but one simple solution. I must search my wallet and my soul until I've gathered up another £3 with which to buy another. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow ...but some day. Sigh.... A tad dramatic? Maybe. Bored at work? Definitely. Nonetheless, please do yourself a favour and visit Paul A. Young. If you care about chocolate at all, you will not regret this pilgrimage.
