Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen Has Butter-Sopped Plans for Nashville’s Opry Mills | Eater Nashville

"I found a listing on the Visit Music City website suggesting Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen is coming to 701 Opry Mills Drive—right beside the General Jackson showboat—though restaurant representatives haven't confirmed it; Deen's team said the opening isn't scheduled until sometime in 2020 and that announcements will follow. This would appear to be another comeback attempt by the famously controversial Food Network chef, and the location would be part of a chain that's more casual and commercial than her famed Savannah restaurant, The Lady & Sons, offering familiar dishes like fried green tomatoes, biscuits, and fried chicken." - Delia Jo Ramsey

Let me start with the things I liked. Our server, Kay, was phenomenal. Because it was Christmas Eve, a lot of their second shift servers didn't show up and she stayed over from first shift. Although I felt her exhaustion, she had a smile on her face and always kept our drinks full and served the food while it was fresh and hot. I love the Georgia Peach Sweet tea, the cheddar bread, the fried chicken, and the creamed corn. Food wise, I wasn't a fan of the broccoli casserole, macaroni and cheese, the spare ribs, or the mashed potatoes. My mom liked the mashed potatoes though. The mashed potatoes are made with sour cream which I normally like, but for some reason I thought that tasted spoiled; however if they used buttermilk or something like that, it would account for why I didn't like tge potatoes and my mom did. Another thing that was off-putting was that the bathrooms weren't clean and smelled terrible. They could honestly use a full remodel for the bathrooms from what I saw. I don't like that there were no paper towels to open the door with. Overall, my experience was OK but it wasn't what I was expecting for a restaurant of that caliber and expense. I'd be willing to come back and try some of the other dishes though, because they had sold out of the pot roast and the meatloaf looked good too.

This was my first time going here and you get a ton of food so be ready. I love that we got to sit at a round table with a lazy Susan so we can just move the food around easily that was awesome! The service was a little bit slow even though it was a early for dinner, but it wasn't horrible by any means. When asked for more napkins I was given a couple cocktail napkins I fall apart when you wipe your hands and they're not very big at all. Besides that this place was excellent The view out of the back window was beautiful watching the sunset the meatloaf was great the biscuits were delicious and the fried chicken was FN awesome!!!!!!! Then to top it off the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake (that I had to take home to eat because I was so full) was sofaking sweet and tasty!!! Definitely will go again when I come across one.

Delicious Family-Style Southern Food with a Beautiful River View My family and I had lunch at Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen in Nashville, TN, and it was such a great experience. We were pleasantly surprised by the spectacular view of the river, which made our meal even more enjoyable. We didn’t realize ahead of time that the restaurant serves family-style Southern food, where you choose your meats and sides and everyone shares — and we absolutely loved it. It was perfect for our family and made the meal feel relaxed and fun. We ordered the ribs, chicken and dumplings, creamed corn, broccoli casserole, poppyseed salad, and mac and cheese, and everything was delicious and comforting, just what you expect from classic Southern comfort food. The kids especially enjoyed their custom blueberry lemonades, which were a big hit. The food was great, the portions were generous, and everyone left happy (and full!). If you’re looking for family-friendly restaurants in Nashville, Southern cooking, or a place with a great river view, Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen is definitely worth a visit. I only wish I had taken a photo of our food!

First time trying Paula Deen's for dinner! It was very good! Loved the family style! So many choices! Our favorites were the pot roast, creamy potatoes, and broccoli casserole. Service was okay not the best for the money that you pay! Overall it was a great night out for dinner! Loved the decor and store too!

For the most part the food didn't disappoint, however the Mac n Cheese was way off. It was one of the sides that we were most excited about, but we left more of it then we ate. The bread was out of this world amazing. The chicken, chicken n dumplings, creamed corn, green beans and creamed potatoes was on point. I would gladly stop again and eat, but I would stay away from the Mac n Cheese, sadly. Our server Tony was excellent and if back in will ask for him. The store had some cute items. I'm glad we stopped and enjoyed lunch.

Google
I don't like making negative reviews. Solo customer. But it starts off with waiting 20 minutes for my first refill of a drink. The biscuit that you get on the table was like cake for biscuits. It was good. The broccoli was good. The mac and cheese, chicken and dumplings, green beans, and cream potatoes taste like they came out of a can. The pork chops tasted from the frozen section of the dollar store. Very, very disappointed. At least the price of $35 was close to the low-quality food and service. I normally tip 30-50% but I go old school. Refills mean the server is giving attention. This time was a very rare no-tip.

Travelled from DC to Nashville just because . On our trip, we visited Paula Deen's Family Kitchen. They sit you down and bring these dense garlicky biscuits that mimic cheddar bay biscuits. They were good but just dense and will fill you up quickly. We ordered from the all you can eat menu that offered 4 main dishes, and 4 side dishes. We had the catfish, barbecue ribs, pork chops, and the fried chicken. Our sides were mashed potatoes, greens, green beans, and sweet potato's. For our drinks, we had the blueberry lemonade and the peach tea. The drinks were really good. For dessert, we ordered the "ooey gooey butter cake", the "chocolate cake", and the banana pudding. The catfish, ribs and fried chicken were good. The pork chops (I don't recommend) were soggy (even with the gravy on the side) they were also salty. The green beans and greens were good but the greens were a tad too salty as well. I didn't care for the sweet potatoes because they were flavorless just like the mashed potatoes. The desserts were horrible. It's nothing Ooey gooey about it lol.. the chocolate cake was flakey (just like the "butter cake" they both look exactly alike just one brown and one yellow and was more like a stale store bought brownie, the banana pudding was literally one spoon of pudding (which i quickly realized why all desserts were 99 cents). The service was good and the restaurant itself was very bright and clean. I would go back but I would stay away from the desserts and pork chops!

Google
Would have gave 5 stars but they did not have corn on the cob and the chicken and dumplings was hard and the broccoli casserole was just ok. Now the chicken was great mac and cheese was ok and the creamed potatoes was ok. I personally did not like the rolls but my wife and son loved them.Nothing was bad just not as good as we expected. The lady that waited on us was a real hustler she was all over the place and would definitely give her 5 star she was wonderful very friendly and professional and helpful her name was jasmine l. The restaurant was nice and clean. I would definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
not at the level of what we expected. chicken/dumplings looked and tasted as pre-cooked and RE-HEATED in a microwave. biscuits were great, BUT we could not get a refill. veggies were CANNED NOT WORTH THE $$

Yelp
While visiting Nashville it was recommended I try celebrity Chef and TV personality Paula Deen's restaurant. She's been featured on the Food Network, hosted her cooking show and written several cook books. So, with a resume like this my expectations were high. The southern style menu had all the favorites from; fried chicken, pork chops, fried okra, chicken and dumplings, fried fish, greens and a variety of flavorful sweet teas. The warm cheese butter biscuits served before the meal were delicious and was a great starter. All of the dishes were seasoned well and had good flavor. The fish followed by the greens were among my favorites. However, I did find the chicken and dumplings lacked both seasoning and flavor. The restaurant is large and has a retail area where guests can purchase shirts and other souvenirs items memorializing their visit. I'm told Paula visits the restaurant frequently and on occasions does book signings for her quests. It's also better to visit during the week to avoid the weekend crowds.

Yelp
I'm a local who decided I'd finally try this place since I was craving fried chicken. The short version of my review is that I won't come back due to it being a strategic ripoff. The food tasted good except the salad was obviously not fresh. You are forced to order "family style" at a minimum of $26/ person. They bring small portions to the table. Our server did not clear the table of empty dishes including a glass of diet coke we did not order. When she brought out the correct drink, she just left the wrong one for us to stare at. She also left all other empty dishes. We asked for a second serving of fried chicken, the only item we requested seconds for, and it took more than 10 minutes to get to our table. I say that to point out that their system seems intended to slow down consumption of their "all you can eat" offering. We had to ask for all drink refills even when glasses were clearly empty. A fair price for this meal would have been about $18/person. Also the bussers slamming dishes into bins at the empty tables all around us was very unpleasant.

Yelp
The fried chicken and the butter cake dessert - delish! Its huge, and reminds me of a cafeteria but its serves its purpose! Mac and cheese is pretty good too

Yelp
I'm a huge fan! I love both the Nashville and Pigeon Forge locations. The family style meal is fantastic and the main courses are always fresh and delicious. The sides are also wonderful. The service can be hit or miss, but this place consistently stays busy. The food is quality, especially for the price.

Yelp
Nichole was our server. Friendly and attentive. Reservation were requested but upon walking in , We were seated as a walk in. Not busy at all on a Friday evening! Yay... Located on the opry mall parking lot. Plenty of parking, we ordered the savanna which consisted of three meats and 4 sides to share as a family thanksgiving feast, all items can be requested to refill. 3 meats ordered were best ever southern fried chicken, chicken fried pork chop,Georgia fried catfish. Sides ordered were collard greens, fried okra, Mac and cheese and fresh candied yams. Pricing $27.99 pp Drink I ordered savanna bourbon Bellini, I rate this meal an 5/10. Food on meat options, chicken delicious, fish and pork chop not fried hard enough , so a bit mushy in my opinion. Sides fried okra delicious, yams and collard greens I was told were good, Mac and cheese I didn't like at all. Ooey gooey butter cake was yummy. Gift store had great items for purchase from food mixes to kitchen items to souvenir bags etc. priced reasonably.

Yelp
We went on a Grand Ole Opry tour, and saw Paula Deen's on the way out. Seemed like a perfect one-two punch of country goodness. We were told that these are "family portions", where we share massive plates of food. And indeed the food was amazing as you'd think, and there was a lot of it. For $29.99 a plate, you get to share 4 main dishes and 4 sides. For the mains, the fried chicken was crispy, yet tasted light. The dumplings in the chicken and dumplings were beautifully savory in a creamy soup. It was more about the dumplings, but that was fine by me. The short ribs were fall off the bone tasty with an excellent sauce. The catfish was lightly breaded, and like the chicken seemed light. The sides were the greatest hits of country: the mac and cheese was creamy, the broccoli casserole was good enough to have as a main dish, and the creamy mashed potatoes were perfectly buttery. The coleslaw was overdressed, but there was so much else here that it didn't matter. We were looking forward to taking the massive amount of food with us, but we were told that that is not allowed. We were also never told that it was all you can eat. This must be why they forbid leftovers: I'm sure that some people would order a refill of food, then try to take all of it home with them. If we had known this, we probably have ordered just two main courses. Or walked out without ordering. My wife ordered a spiked fruit punch that was so incredibly sweet that she couldn't even drink it. What was less sweet was that it cost $15. We put a dent in our meal, but it definitely was not worth $125 for three people, before tip. The server made sure to remind us that the tip was not included. We were, however, able to take desserts home with us: two different kinds of brownie and peach cobbler. They were rich and tasty. But, we almost never order dessert. I suppose the only way this place works is if you come with a gigantic appetite, particularly if you're able to get a second portion. We ate maybe half the food before we were stuffed. Since I can't take the food with us, there's no way I could ever get close to my moneys worth here.

Yelp
The fried chicken is outstanding, fried to perfection. All the food is phenomenal. The service is impeccable and the ambiance is so cozy and inviting. This is a must do experience especially if you're with family.

Yelp
Came in for lunch and was very impressed with the layout and concept of this restaurant. The menu idea is easy & plentiful with an all you can eat; no leftovers to take idea! We enjoyed our entire meal: southern fried chicken and barbecue ribs with coleslaw, baked beans, candy, yams, and macaroni and cheese with a side of peach cobbler and some coffee to end it. My favorite was very hard to choose, but I did like the coleslaw had a different type of taste to it little sweet and crunchy, but my second would've been the baked beans which had a twist of shredded chicken I believe in it, which was also good. The gift shop is just so inviting and prices are very reasonable The staff is truly southern charm and friendly with refills of the best southern tea there is!!!! We will definitely be back again and I would highly recommend this restaurant as your first choice if you're in the Opry Mills area

Yelp
As out of town-ers, and our first time trying this...We were so excited to try this place and ready for the butter, but it didn't execute very well. The best part of the meal was the bread for the table. We went with the Savanna, a choice of 3 entrees (fried chicken, chicken fried pork chops, and meatloaf) and 4 sides (mashed potatoes, greens, candied yams, and Mac & cheese.) The fried chicken was so dry, we left it alone. The pork chops and meatloaf were ok but only moist because of the sauce. The yams were the best side. We initially ordered the broccoli casserole, but it was horrible. The restaurant is huge, and the store concept reminds you of a smaller Cracker Barrel feel. It wasn't very packed and our server still wasn't very attentive.

Yelp
Drive almost 2 hours to try for my birthday and it was definitely worth it! The restaurant is so bright and clean on the inside. The service was excellent and our hostess was so helpful and polite. The food was super delicious and fresh! My whole family got full just from the first round. To top it all off you get a free dessert of your choice with your meal. I ended up ordering the banana pudding it was ok I'm not a big fan of banana pudding tho. My family loved it tho.
google avatar

Chia C.

Yelp
This was close to Opry Mills and the Grand Ole Opry ... so we thought we'd give it a try. Different format of 3 options with varying number of entrees and 4 sides ... that all in party had to agree on. Kinda like an unlimited buffet with set entrees and sides that were served by the waitstaff. We chose and only got only 1 order of (ok) catfish, (salty) pork, and (not crispy) fried chicken ... but the chicken & dumplings was pretty decent - so we got a refill. Sides to complement included fried okra, mac/cheese, collard greens, creamed corn, green beans, and candied yams ... but nothing really stood out. The Southern Punch was definitely better than the Lemonade ... but they both came in a souvenir plastic cup to take come. Nice gift shop at entrance ... but overall, might not look to go back.

Yelp
Brilliant restaurant concept...How to get people to spend $25+ on a $15 meal pp. Price point determines if you get 2-4 mains with 4 sides. Food is served family style and proportions are limitless. Great choices, sure to please most. I went with Fried Chicken and Pot Roast. Both were good but not remarkable. For sides I did Collards, Broccoli casserole, fried okra, and yams. It was my wife and I and the only seconds we asked for was chicken and yams. Nice that I could specify which parts they brought out. It's AYCE in the restaurant but no to go if you have leftovers. I think that's more than fair. You even choose included dessert for each person but only one serving is included. This was plenty! Choose from seasonal cobbler (no ice cream), banana pudding, or ooey gooey cake. Wife had peach cobbler and I had the cake. I was so full, I ate half. You can get your dessert to go. Quality-wise it's average, quantity-wise, a satisfying deal. Worth trying for sure!

Yelp
We had quite the feast tonight at Paula Deen's Family Kitchen, sampling a variety of classic Southern dishes. Here's what we tried: Main Dishes Pot Roast with White Rice: Good, but not exceptional. Catfish: Lightly breaded and delicious. Chicken & Dumplings: Unfortunately, the worst I've ever had--it tasted like raw dough in gravy. Not recommended. Sides Mac & Cheese: not creamy, more on the grainy side White Gravy & Brown Gravy: Both were flavorful accompaniments. Creamed Potatoes: Smooth, creamy, and more like mashed potatoes. Fried Okra: Crispy and tasty, not overly greasy. Creamed Corn: Outstanding--thick, sweet, and perfectly creamy. Everything was served with Paula Deen's cheddar biscuits, which were warm, fluffy, and slathered in melted garlic butter. They were absolutely amazing! Desserts Ooey Gooey Butter Cake: A standout--rich, sweet, and perfectly indulgent. Red Velvet Cake: Dense, rich, and packed with flavor. Service Our server, Dee, made the experience memorable. She was prompt, friendly, and attentive--everything you'd hope for in great service. Overall Experience While Paula Deen's Family Kitchen was an experience, I'm not sure it's a must-visit spot in Nashville. Some dishes stood out, but others fell short. If a friend asked for recommendations, I'd say it's worth trying for the novelty, but not a top priority. Portions were very large, but very pricey. I will add, it is all you can eat family style. As a side note; the restaurant is clean as are the bathrooms. Great gift shop.

Yelp
We went to Paula Deen's after a tour at the Grand Ole Opry. We were a bit disappointed that it's a chain, but it is a chain that we don't have in the north, so we chose to ignore that fact. The restaurant is huge, and they have you entering & exiting through a gift shop. (I did succumb and buy a few things on the way out.) As others have mentioned, everything is served family style, and it's priced per person. They will refill your dishes, but you can't take home leftovers. The group gets to choose meats and sides. We got the fried chicken and pot roast as our meats and macaroni & cheese, salad, baked beans and green beans for the sides. They brought some amazing cheddar biscuits for everyone as well. The chicken was really good. The mac & cheese was a little grainy, but still very tasty. I loved the salad -- it was something we had refilled. I also bought some dressing on the way out. The baked beans were good as well. We were surprised by the pot roast, though. We expected it to be chunks of beef with potatoes, carrots, onions, etc. -- the way we all make it. But instead, it was more like shredded beef, and it came in a dish with the beef on one side & rice on the other. I didn't mind it, but it wasn't what we thought it would be. The desserts were ok -- way too sweet, though.

Yelp
We went here for Thanksgiving, so our experience is a little different than what it would normally be. There was a fixed menu, but all of the food was delicious. We had a feeling there would probably be a wait since it was a holiday, but the wait was only about 20 minutes. The restaurant is large, so it can accommodate a lot of parties. The meals are served family style, so it's perfect for trying different things and sharing, if you come on a regular day. For thanksgiving, the main dishes were ham, turkey and pork loin. The sides were mac and cheese (which was amazing!), sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and green beans. Of course, you are also served rolls with butter! All customers are given their choice of dessert as well. I went with the chocolate gooey cake and it was deliciously rich. I wish I had brought it back to the hotel to have with some ice cream. While everything is a fixed price, you can get as much food as you want, so there are no to-go boxes for anything except your dessert. We definitely plan to come back when we are in town again!

Yelp
Great option if you're hungry. Service was friendly and helpful- my coworker needed to listen with her earbuds to a few mins of a conference call so they seated us away from others- we appreciated that. So much food! We enjoyed all the sides and our two different chicken entrees. Best biscuits ever! We couldn't even finish our initial servings- no need for bottomless refills. Comfortable dining area- friendly staff.
google avatar

Cyndi G.

Yelp
You want a taste of the south then step into Paula Deen's! Served family style so y'all have to agree on what you want to eat! But the kicker is you can have seconds, thirds etc of what you orders! Who can't live that. But no take home except dessert. So come hungry. We have tried almost every entrée and loved each and every one of them but it's the fried chicken and greens that calls us in here. Every item is served fresh and hot. Serve is great, friendly and timely. Restaurant is clean and casual. Make sure your whole party is here or you just can't be seated because it's a group selection! Don't forget to stop off at the gift shop!

Yelp
My husband and I couldn't stop raving about our meal. We chose the pot roast and chicken and dumplings with collards, broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes, and fried okra. It was all amazing. The okra was crisp and light. The pot roast fell apart completely it was so tender. The biscuits were worth the visit themselves. Definitely enjoyed ourselves. Wish Indianapolis had one.

Yelp
As a big Food Network fan, visiting Paula Deen's Family Kitchen while sightseeing in Nashville was a must do! This place was awesome, providing good old fashion southern food & hospitality. Our server was friendly & very attentive. The light & airy dining room was huge, beautifully decorated with a soaring high ceiling & chandeliers. The enormous windows provided a great water & greenery view too. The oversized booths & tables, were large enough for eight or more to sit together. The menu is family style, where dishes (with unlimited refills) are passed & shared by the whole table. Of course country music was playing in the background. We ordered "The Albany", which consisted of divine Cheddar Bacon Biscuits, two "home" dishes, four sides & dessert. We choose (from a list of eight), the Fried Chicken & Chicken Fried Steak with a rich white cream gravy. These were delicious - very crispy & juicy. For the sides we choose the Creamed Potatoes, Baked Mac & Cheese, Corn on the Cob & BBQ Baked Beans. (From a list of thirteen.) The sides didn't quite hit the mark, the potatoes were too creamy for my liking & the Baked Mac & Cheese & Corn on the Cob needed a lot more seasoning. The Baked Beans were wonderful, however, I just didn't enjoy the green peppers that were in the dish. We brought our desserts home & had a Chocolate Brownie & Peach Cobbler later that night - they were yummy. Go hungry & enjoy! Be sure to stop by the gift shop, it's right there next to the restaurant. The shop sells many products from the Paula Deen line, including her signed cookbooks. Paula Deen will be there in person on 12/7/24 for a book signing.

Yelp
Thurs 11/6/25, Party of 1. The fried chicken was excellent; it was the only thing that was excellent. The chicken & dumplings was starchy clumps of dumplings w/ very little chicken. The green beans were tasteless and overcooked. The yams probably would've been okay if there'd been butter to put on them. The creamed potatoes were also tasteless (bland) and the texture was unappealing. The service was decent: polite if not friendly, checked on me once after delivering the food. The ambiance - well, it was a quiet and well-lit dining room, not overly decorated or homey or cozy. The price: outrageous. $27 for one dinner and not allowed to take home any leftovers (although the only leftovers were the bland side dishes and I didn't want to take them home). Save your time and money - there's got to be better places in Nashville to eat.

Julia C.

Yelp
Amaia is an amazing waitress. She checked on us often and we never ran out of drinks or food! We sat by the window to watch the river and seen the General Jackson come in. It was a great experience and we'll be sure to bring visitors here for Southern Cooking!
google avatar

Yelp
First time in the actual brick and mortar. I can't wait to see how this food taste. See if it's better that the restaurants had a the old Harrahs Casino in Southern Indiana. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Nice and homie, staff are friendly and gave a warm welcome. Food comes out family style. You can have as much as you want. Nothing to go. So come hungry. It was all pretty good.
google avatar

Nancy M.

Yelp
We had a positive experience at Paula Deen's restaurant. It's a large restaurant and quite popular so we had a bit of a wait for our lunchtime visit but it wasn't unreasonable. Our waitress was friendly and explained that it was all you can eat but no carryouts were allowed. The food itself was good. We had our favorite items - the chicken and dumplings were great. The environment itself was clean and comfortable. One star deduction because the hostess staff was a bit crabby but otherwise a positive experience.
google avatar

Kristina N.

Yelp
If you have a big appetite then you are more than recommended to eat here! I only gave it 3 stars because I felt that most if the sides were bland. Also, this is all you can eat and you can't take home leftovers! So be mindful of what you order and how much I saw a lot of waste on other tables. The best things we ate were the proteins, the fried chicken was legit and lord I could come back for just the biscuits! Our waitress was really sweet and so was the manager. The restaurant itself was clean and of course, very representative of Paula herself. The good news was you can take the desserts home if you're too stuffed which was what we did. I did enjoy the ooey gooey butter cake and it warmed up nicely!
google avatar

Jacey H.

Yelp
Paula Deen's is a unique and fun concept. It's a true family-style restaurant, where the entrées come with unlimited servings. When your group can agree on two entrées and four sides, it's definitely worth it. I'm not sure where some of the negative reviews come from, we had nothing but great and efficient service the entire time. They also made their no-leftovers policy clear from the start. We definitely got our money's worth, and if we're nearby, we'll be back!

Family style UNLIMITED restaurant run by Paula Dean located in the Opry Mills Mall in Nashville. The food is plenty and delicious. This is a major upscale Cracker Barrell as the food is southern style, unlimited as the food keeps coming till you say stop, and there is a shop. BTW...you have to try the biscuits...AMAZING. Try this place, you will leave stuffed.

Yelp
The dumplings were too dense. The biscuits were too dense. The collard greens taste canned. The pot roast was too salty. The meatloaf was good. Fried chicken was good. Butter cake was doughy. Apple cobbler was too dense. Service was great. Overall: Meh. Would I recommend? No.

Yelp
My review is similar to other recent reviews. We won't be going back. With all the excellent restaurants in Nashville, this one does not warrant a second visit. Salad was wilted, collard greens were tasteless, fried chicken was very small pieces and hard like it had been sitting for a while (and it was only 12 noon!). The okra was very small pieces with much too much batter and greasy. We did receive enough food for two people, and our server was very pleasant and brought refills without being asked. Since there have been so many negative ratings lately, one would think some changes would be implemented.

Yelp
Don't waste your money! So this place is a total scam. It is "family style" which in this case equate to "All you can eat" but with small portions.... Don't worry I will explain. So I had three adults in my party and we ordered the 2 entrees and four sides. So when everything gets to the table it is NOT enough for 3 people. There was what equate to one ( cut in half ) chicken fried steak and 4 pieces of chicken. The sides were what can only be described as a large portion for an individual . The food quality isn't bad...but about the same as a Cracker Barrel at about 3 times the cost. To add insult to injury, when you ask for a "refill" it seems to take 15-20 minutes. The waitstaff is not what I would call "top notch". There was a light above us that kept cutting on and off. We asked to sit at a different table because it was going to bother us. We got eyerolling and silent judgement; though they did move us. The ambiance in the restaurant feels like the kitchen section of a WalMart. There is absolutely nothing special about this restaurant, which is kind of a shame because the outside of the building looked very charming and welcoming. It does need to be said that Mrs Deen seems to love photos / paintings of herself because they are EVERYWHERE. Much like a Cracker Barrel, you are forced to make your way through the gift shop in order to actually get to the restaurant. One thing I would like to add is that on the day we visited the restaurant was hot.... Like the gift shop must have been 85 degrees! The tables were somewhat better, but still not Nashville in Summer Air Conditioning comfortable. If you are considering eating herself do yourself a favor and head over to the Bavarian Bierhaus or any other other great restaurants at the mall. And if you really want "American dining" then just save yourself some money and go to Cracker Barrel.

Yelp
Overall beautiful restaurant. Great views from inside and outside. The food is served family style. When ordering, you choose between 2, 3, and 4 entrees. Each of those options comes with 4 side dishes. Prices are a bit steep as it's per person, but the nice thing is it's all you can eat. As soon as you're out of an item, they'll refill it and come with seconds. Nouk was our server and he was so energetic and fun. Our group enjoyed the experience in large part due to Nouk. Will definitely come back to this place if visiting Nashville again. Very cool experience.

Yelp
We ate there last night and we were beyond disappointed. First, I was given a glass of water with red marks all over it. I asked if they were bloody handprints, but the waiter quickly took it back and mumbled something about strawberry. Ok! Next, the food was marginal or forgettable at best. The fried fish was limp and thin and lacked flavor. The sides were just awful. The creamed corn tasted like it was straight out of a can, but with extra sugar dumped in. The mashed potatoes were over whipped and too thin, plus lacked flavor. The mac and cheese ... well, they had to try hard to mess that up, but they did. Maybe it was just a Monday night and all of the sides were leftovers from the weekend, but none seemed fresh, just tasteless mush. The only dish we liked was the okra.

Yelp
The food here is simply not good. Read the reviews before I came because my husband and I were invited for a Father's Day supper. I really hadn't plugged in with any of Paula Deen's endeavors after her racism scandal, but was willing to give it a shot because I had fond memories of watching her show growing up. The initial biscuits they give you are excellent - like a much richer version of a Red Lobster cheddar bay biscuit. Best thing of the day. From there, things went downhill. The fried chicken was so salty it was inedible. KFC is definitely a notch or two up. The mac and cheese was grainy and reminiscent of Stouffer's. The broccoli casserole was mushy and tasteless. The green beans were okay, but watery. I did enjoy the creamed corn and the meatloaf - both were tasty. But definitely not worth coming here for. Our waiter was friendly, but you don't get much service here because it was family style. We didn't get seconds on anything and we took our desserts home (they did allow that despite their no take home box rule). I ate the gooey butter cake at home and it was extremely rich and dense. They had a Cracker Barrel-esque shop at the entrance and the AC was out. I went to the bathroom to change my baby and it was warmer in the bathroom than it was outside. VERY stuffy and I wasn't sure if they were doing anything to address it? It made it really uncomfortable for those browsing the store or using the restroom. Thankfully it was better in the dining area, but still warm. This is unfortunately another tourist trap and I do not recommend.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend has gone a few times. Whatever you get you can ask for refills like chicken and mashed potatoes and you can stay as long as you want until you're satisfied. I recommend the mashed potatoes fried chicken and the banana pudding!!

Yelp
Very convenient for dinner before going to the Ol Opry. Decorated as a contemporary restaurant as opposed to classic southern. Food was ok, but how can you go wrong with deep fried? Fried chicken is definitely the go to! The ribs were good. Unfortunately we weren't impressed with the frid Catfish nor chicken fried beef. It was an enjoyable meal served with outstanding service.

Yelp
Great food and friendly service. This is what dining should be. Family style in the center of the table on a lazy Susan rotating circle. The meatloaf was good. The fried chicken was perfectly crispy and tasty.

Yelp
The meatloaf was great, but the service was terrible. Our waitress struggled when it came to the menu. We asked if there was pork in the green beans -- she said no, just potatoes. When the green beans arrived, there were no potatoes, but chunks of ham. And when the bill came, there was a $27 charge for a $9 glass of wine.

Yelp
Come hungry! We had the pot roast, chicken & dumplings, macaroni and cheese, creamed corn, candied yams, and green beans. They'll keep bringing the food until you're ready to pop. Again, come hungry. For dessert we had the butter cake and banana pudding. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was awesome. She goes by "Sexy Chocolate". lol The atmosphere is homey and comfortable.

Yelp
We enjoyed a birthday meal here for lunch. The poppyseed salad and pot roast were my favorite. Everyone gets a dessert with their meal!

Yelp
Not bad for the price and it's AYCE plus dessert too. i love the peach tea. It's sweet so add some unsweetened tea and it's perfect. The salad dressing is very good. Chicken is season well.

Yelp
We came out to Nashville for my friend's daughter's 21st birthday. We decided to take a trip out to see the Opry because my husband had never been and she wanted to hit up the mall. The server was amazing but I didn't recall his name. It was clean and beautiful inside of the restaurant. Fried chicken was great and ribs were fall off the bone. Everything else was pretty bland. That is the only reason for the 3 stars.

Yelp
We are regular visitors to Nashville and was REALLy looking forward to this place because we're fans of Deen. Ambiance was nice, but the empty dining area when we went in should have been the first clue. Waitress asked if it was our first time in and we confirmed that it was. Knowing that, she provided No explanation of the ability to order more dishes we liked or their left over food policy. Nothing. Also No follow up or check in during our meal to ask/offer more of the the dishes we liked. It would have been nice to know with our party of five adults. When we wanted to take our left over ribs, she said that it wasn't allowed. No explanation, just that it wasn't allowed. If it had been explained upfront that we could have ordered more during our meal this policy makes sense, in order to prevent over ordering and patrons taking a lot of food. I suspect it's done to maximize profit for the $29.99/person. They did on our visit. As it turns out I learn about this on my own after our visit. As far as the food, the fried chicken was really good. Everything else was just so so. We will still be fans of Deen herself, but Sadly, with our experience, we will not return on future trips to Nashville.

Yelp
I live in the area and would not come back here. We had some family in town and took them here. The service was good and the restaurant itself was beautiful. It was easy to make a reservation. I feel like I am taking points away for the food. The Blueberry Lemonade and Strawberry Lemonade were a bit sour. My kids wouldn't drink the Strawberry Lemonade. The Blueberry Lemonade was a bit too sour for me. I really liked the Georgia Peach Tea. The biscuits were fine. They were very buttery and cheesy but just a bit too sour for me. Now onto the main courses. We got the catfish and the meatloaf. The catfish was really good. It was probably one of my favorite things we ordered. It was really flavorful and I really liked the sauce. I also loved the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were my favorite thing from the entire meal. The meatloaf was not good. It seemed like really low quality meat. There were weird bones when I was eating it that I had to spit out. Way too much sweet ketchup sauce. Just not good. Macaroni and cheese was fine. Nothing wrong with it but nothing memorable either. Coleslaw was fine. It was fresh. I liked the Broccoli Casserole but I wish they broccoli pieces were smaller. There were some huge pieces that you had to try and chew through. Dessert, I got the peach cobbler which I really didn't like. It was watery and not good. I tried my son's chocolate ooey gooey cake which was basically a brownie which was really tasty. The server also brought me the vanilla ooey gooey cake for no additional cost. That was one of my favorite thing of the night, so delicious. All in all, it was a decent meal but it was very expensive. The fact that one of the main dishes had the bones really was unappetizing. I think our meal was close to $200 for the 6 of us (including 2 kids). Also, our kids did not eat anything here which was disappointing. They should consider possibly adding a small kids menu. I am not rushing back.

Yelp
Very pretty decorations and clean interior, good food and fast service. Shoutout to our server Lover Boy, very attentive

Yelp
Food was ok. Potatoes were so salty I couldn't eat them. The veggies were amazing. Cute shop to look around in. But not worth all the hype. Family style only so if you don't eat a lot it's not worth it.

Yelp
My family, fiancé and I had just eaten lunch in the area and were looking for somewhere to stop for dessert, specifically peach cobbler. Paula Deen's popped up on our search so we decided to give it a try! First off I'll say the ambiance of the place is very fancy. Not five star steakhouse fancy, but an afternoon at the country club type of fancy. Like I could feel the privilege type of vibe from the restaurant. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing but take it how you wish. We were seated right away since we stopped by at off hours and on a weekday so it wasn't too busy. When our waiter came by to get our order we let him know we were only there for dessert and ordered our peach cobblers. I believe my sister and her husband got the butter cake and a peach cobbler as well. Unfortunately the waiter misunderstood when I ordered and gave my fiancé and I each a peach cobbler when I had only wanted one to share. I'd definitely say one is big enough for two, depending on how hungry you are. If you've just finished a meal like we had then one is plenty to share. I wish they offered a La mode with their desserts. Ice cream on top of the cobbler would have been amazing. I would say the peaches were just ok, didn't taste like they added any cinnamon or some type of sweetener to enhance the flavor. It was a bit bland. I felt like there was something lacking. Honestly nothing else on the menu really stuck out at me when I skimmed it. I probably wouldn't come back because the vibe of the restaurant personally isn't my type of place. I did like the storefront they have when you first walk in though. They sell a lot of Paula Deen merch and cute farmhouse type of decor. Paula Deen even has a vending machine full of mid-priced jewelry which I thought was interesting. It's a cool place to stop at maybe once but due to the lack of flavor in their dish I wouldn't really be interested in returning.

Yelp
Fist time in Tennessee and Nashville and we found ourselves at Paula Deen's cause who doesn't love comfort food and butter right? There was 7 of us and we were able to be sat immediately which was great. The interior decor is lovely, very rich southern grandmas house vibes. The server was very attentive and always there to give us refills. The food was delicious! We got the ribs and they were the most tender I've ever had, just fall off the bone. After we finished eating we spent plenty of time in the gift shop! Such a fun experience! The only reason for the 3 stars is their policy is that they don't allow you to take leftovers because their sides and entrees are unlimited refills so I think this is to deter people from refilling right before they leave but this causes a HUGE food waste. We asked the waiter if they give this food away or if the staff gets to at least eat it and he said no they throw it all away. Not to mention the fact that this is food we PAID for just getting thrown away. I probably wouldn't eat here again just on that principle alone which is such a shame. I hope they consider changing this

Yelp
Food is underwhelming, very salty, and quality feels not up to par for the pricing. Family style meal is a nice concept and I know it's a classic restaurant, but the food is not good enough to make me want to come back. It felt like I was getting grocery store deli food. Our server was very warm and friendly, and helped make recommendations. They do accommodate large group reservations which was helpful for our work holiday lunch. Also it is disappointing they do not let you take home leftovers... I hope they are doing something to save the food being wasted!
