Where To Go If You Miss The Old Coconut Grove - Miami - The Infatuation

"This takeout pizza joint has been on Bird Ave. for 35 years. If you want proof, look next to the fish tank at all the autographed photos of ‘90s basketball greats carrying stacks of pizzas. The slices here make Shaq’s hand look small. Prioritize the “famous white pizza” covered in mozzarella and fluffy ricotta. And enjoy it in peace on the picnic table outside while you mumble a prayer for all the people waiting 45 minutes for a table at the Mister O1 in CocoWalk." - virginia otazo

The Old-School Pizza Spots Of Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"This Coconut Grove pizza shop is a takeout-only operation, but there are a few picnic tables next to the store where you can have a hot slice. We love their white pizza covered in mozzarella and fluffy ricotta. The crust is so crispy and flavorful, it’ll turn you into one of those people who leaves no crust behind. The walls of the shop are covered in photos of famous people who’ve somehow ended up at this tiny operation over the last 45 years—from Michael Jordan to Bill Murray." - virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

Pauloluigi - Review - Coconut Grove - Miami - The Infatuation

"If we said there’s nowhere to sit inside, we’d be lying. There’s one chair next to a fish tank. And that’s where you can wait for Pauloluigi's “famous white pizza” while staring at the angelfish and looking at all the signed pictures of ‘90s basketball players. This Coconut Grove pizza shop is a takeout-only operation, so you’ll have to wait until you get home to bite into a slice of that white pizza covered in mozzarella and fluffy ricotta. The crust is so crispy and flavorful, it’ll turn you into one of those people who leaves no crust behind. Pizza and pasta are the best things here. It doesn’t quite make the list of Miami’s best pizzas, but it’s a solid choice for a night in." - Virginia Otazo

Google
My family and I were in the area and decided to eat here tonight. The service was amazing and quick. The cheese pizza was one of the best we’ve ever had (and we get pizza every weekend). The chicken parm pizza was also amazing. Great experience and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area!

Carson S.

Google
We didn’t know what to expect since my family is not from the area and just picked the first pizza place that came up—but we were so pleasantly surprised. Everyone we interacted with, from placing our order to checking in on our food to heading out, was incredibly warm and welcoming. The staff (and owners!) were genuinely some of the nicest people we’ve met. The food was delicious, the quality was outstanding, and it came out fast. I would honestly come back to Miami just to eat this pizza again. We got the famous white pizza!

Alejandro B.

Google
Nice old school pizza shop between Coral Gables and Coconut Grove. It was crazy as I felt back into the 70s-80s per movie references. The service was fast and friendly, the pizza good and plentiful, just be ready for a different atmosphere style, it's likely mkre common for takeout or delivery

Lucine M.

Google
We ordered a cheese pizza, chicken parm pizza, and 6 meatballs on the side. The pizza was perfection - flaky crust, delicious sauce and amazing, melty cheese. Chicken parm pizza was generously loaded with fresh ingredients. The sauce the meatballs came in was soooo good (we kept dipping the parm pizza in it). Friendly, warm and attentive service, with a nice outdoor seating area. Wonderful experience. My family of 6 all ate (with some leftovers, and a liter soda) for $74.

ruben A.

Google
The pizza is delicious, the outdoor place to eat beautiful. And the staff is very friendly. Recommended!!

bonnie B.

Google
No, inside seating, food delivery to table. Great service (just have to ask) and food. There are a few free parking spots. Serving size is enough for 2 people to eat well.

Josh D.

Google
Real Italian food. Full of flavor and huge portions. The pizza 🍕 is fire 🔥 but don’t sleep on the dishes like chicken parm.

Patrick G.

Google
From Queens, NY. I’ve been fleeced plenty of times at the “high-end” Italian restaurants in Miami. We know pizza is not the same outside the city. But this is. Authentic, made with love, the real deal. Don’t get fleeced at the fancy Italian restaurants. Come make small talk and meet the people behind this wonderful family owned business and enjoy real Italian food outside on a warm South Florida night.

Yelp
Solid NY style pizza the slices are big. Good sauce. Not sweet ( Like Casola's) The pasta dishes are good too. Ive come repeatedly, as it's a good, solid Italian joint.

Veronica M.

Yelp
As a NY native in Miami, I've had no luck finding any pizza spot that even slightly resembles back home. Until I found Pauloluigi! Slices are nice and big, the sauce and cheese are so yummy and the customer service was great! I am definitely coming back and already sent this spot to some friends and family.
google avatar

Jorge B.

Yelp
Best Pizza I've eaten in Miami in a long time. In fact I'll probably order it again today.
google avatar

Edie D.

Yelp
Our go-to spot for pizza in Miami. Best place for good authentic pizza that's affordable, and a small local business! Staff is very friendly and will help you carry your order to your car.
google avatar

Yelp
Take out only and the food is always amazing. The white pizza, pepperoni pizza, buffalo chicken pizza- are all awesome and always consistent! The chicken francese, chicken Marsala and chicken Alfredo are fresh and hot! The food always reheats better than the day you got it and the portions are generous.

Yelp
Still great pizza here the white pizza I have ordered time and time again. This time i decided to try something else. I got the Pauloluigi Calzone and it was fantastic! Definitely recommend. I love eggplant so I got the eggplant sandwich and it was HORRIBLE. The eggplant was flavorless all you could taste was egg. It was so thin like tissue paper with no seasoning. Worst eggplant I ever had. It also came with fries they were dry and not good. No rewards program anymore. All orders have a $1 convenience fee added. I was told this is for the cost of takeout boxes and bags. Really a 3 star rating but other items on the menu are fantastic so for that 4 stars.

Gema M.

Yelp
Tiny, to-go pizza spot. There's some outside seating available as part of the very small plaza but it is not a full service sit down dining experience. Place your order and pick it up. The pizzas are huge and loaded with flavor. My favorite is the white pizza (comes as a full pie not by the slice), but for a slice you can't go wrong with anything.
google avatar

BK W.

Yelp
Been coming to pauloluigi for years and it's always a go to pizza spot. They have a good amount of pizza options to choose from or you can make your own. I'd consider this more of a to go spot but there is some seating directly outside. Pricing wise I'd say it's very reasonable compared to come of the other pizza options in this part of miami. Service is pretty straightforward and when you come in someone acknowledges you and brings you your pizza quickly (I've even seen them bring pizzas to peoples cars) I've enjoyed coming here for years and will continue to come back.

Yelp
Pauloluigi is take out only, but the food is delicious. The NY style pizza evokes the corner pizza place, but is missing all the oil . If you're not going to take it home and eat it immediately, I recommend that you order it "lite bake" - an option at the bottom of the on line pizza menu - and heat it up in the oven, preferably on a pizza stone. The pizza can be stored in the fridge for several days and frozen for weeks. The chicken parm is huge and delicious. Also recommend the meatball sub.

Thomas M.

Yelp
The best pizza available in Coconut Grove. Old school location and staff. Very legit.

Stefan K.

Yelp
I go to Pauloluigi's very often as it's on my way home from work. The pizza is delicious and humongous for a single slice. I've had the meatball sub, the chicken parm sub and the sausage and pepper sub, all excellent! Stella is an absolute gem! She's always friendly and always happy to please. It's only take out, but while I'm waiting for my food to eat it outside on the patio, the feeling is friendly and happy.
google avatar

Jenna R.

Yelp
This place is small and down to earth, offering only takeout, but it's a true hidden gem. I know everyone raves about the white pizza here--and there's no doubt it's delicious--but trust me, the sauce deserves just as much attention. The tomato sauce here is some kind of delicious magic--perfectly balanced between sweet and savory, and unlike anything I've tasted at other pizza spots in Miami. The classic Margherita pizza and bruschetta are my go-to choices, and they never disappoint. Pauloluigi is one of those 'if you know, you know' spots that doesn't need the hype to be amazing!

John M.

Yelp
Excellent, authentic NY style pizza. I also ordered a salad and a pasta dish. Big portions and reasonably priced

Colin M.

Yelp
This place is just FANTASTIC!!! Easily the best pizza we have had in Miami! You cannot beat the value (size, and price) for both the pizza and pasta! Service is spectacular.
google avatar

Aaron T.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside it feels "authentic pizza". Pictures of NBA players with owner, mayors, celebrities. Now, the pizza. I've tried many other places and this pizza is the best. Crispy. Crunchy. Cheese is good quality. Ordered the margarita and would order it again. 24" was $52 with tax and small tip. At first I was pissed at the price. Now after eating it. We would order it again and again. Great job pizza place. You made a good pizza.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Pauloluigi! I'm originally from the North East and grew up in Italian Pizza Shops my whole life... THIS IS THE BEST PIZZA/PASTA IN MIAMI (period). Everything is cooked to perfection and the flavors are unmatched My own Father who is a Chef said this food might be better than his.. might now that is the ultimate compliment.

Thomas B.

Yelp
Pizza is and always will be my favorite food. My first pizza experience was at Cairo's in Inwood, New York in 1955. We moved to Miami in 1959, and my favorite pizza was Mama Vivi's on the 79th Street Causeway, a Mafia hangout. A lot of people thought Sonny's was the best pie in town. For me it was Vivi's. Now it's Pauloluigi - a Coconut Grove fixture, I don't do take out. So, I recommend eating it fresh from the oven at one of the few outside tables. Pictures of luminaries on the wall, patrons of Paulo's when it was a dine-in experience. Not shishi, to say the least...just the best.
google avatar

Cristy B.

Yelp
Chicken Pauloluigi is phenomenal and a must try!!! It is our "go to" dish! Customer service is friendly and efficient. They always make sure to take care of us! This is a pick-up only restaurant. Quick receiving area to help you get home to enjoy your yummy food.
google avatar

Lisandra P.

Yelp
The lady at the register had great customer service and helped us with the menu. I order the white pizza 14 in ( good for 3 to 4 people) , caprese salad , and tiramisu for dessert. The white pizza was dellliiicciiiooouuus , with so much favor. The salad was okay ( was lacking spinach and some more greens) and had too much dressing. Now, the dessert, was the best I have ever had. Very rich and creamy!
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
We have wintered in the Grove for five years and we are always searching for good pizza! I'm used to New Jersey pizza which is the best pizza. We were told about Pauloluigi and we figured we would give it a try. It was surprisingly really really good. My hubby was so excited to finally find a place that has great pizza. I had the chicken pauloluigi and it was the perfect combo of good chicken and great eggplant parm! I think we could go here once a week and order a different dish everytime. With COVID rates increasing support this fabulous restaurant that offers delivery and pick up.
google avatar

Mark W.

Yelp
Great pizza with an awesome crust. The meatball sub is also very good. Very friendly staff.
google avatar

Carin L.

Yelp
This is my go-to for Italian take out. Always fresh and delicious. Today I had the calzone, it was really good and plenty for 2-3 people to share. I've previously ordered their pizzas, antipasto salad, garlic rolls and chicken parmigiana - all very good.

Emsley B.

Yelp
Vegan here, former vegetarian. The pizza looked so delicious but they don't offer vegan cheese and I didnt want cheese-less pizza. However, both the soups, minestrone and pasta fagioli soups are vegan. I ordered the pasta fagioli soup and it came with 2 plain rolls that were delicious. The soup was the best I've had and the rolls were a winning complement to the soup. My friends ordered a large cheese pizza with garlic rolls. The 2 pizza critics said it was the best they have had in Miami (they live there; I was visiting) and everyone loved it.

Kevin S.

Yelp
Stopped in for late dinner carry out. The service was great! Very friendly staff. On to the best part, the food was excellent! Ordered Stromboli and baked Ziti. Both were spot on and portions were large enough for lunch the next day.
google avatar

Eloy V.

Yelp
Drove 30 mins ! Well worth it. The owner Paul came straight from NY and has been making pizza in Miami since the eighties. Everything s fresh and made in house. The eggplant pizza was very unique and delicious. The chicken parm sub was phenomenal fresh baked homemade bread accompanied by fresh cut seasoned fries. My daughter loved her baked ziti. DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT THE CANNOLI. (Your welcome!) everything here is made with pride. Great job! Will def be back often.
google avatar

Adam L.

Yelp
It took me forever to come here even though it's right around the corner from my house. First experience went well, order for pickup. The pizza is all NY style and the thin crust was cooked perfectly for my margherita pizza. So why only 3 stars? The mozzarella killed it. Although they advertised it as fresh mozzarella (and judging by old photos on yelp they used to make it that way), nobody could discernibly look at the pizza and say "that's a margherita". You can tell from my photo in comparison with the others from 4+ years ago shows the quality of ingredients has completely dropped off. Unfortunately I will not be returning as that is my go to pizza.
google avatar

Cristina O.

Yelp
Great garlic rolls but the salad, soup & pizza was disappointing. The salad had brown lettuce & didn't taste too fresh. The soup, a Pasta Fagioli which I was very excited about, was bland & had no depth of flavor that I expected from a "homemade" soup. The pizza was mediocre at best & was not what I would consider a "Margherita", especially for $16 for a medium. Again, their garlic rolls are great & their pastas are very good so will probably stick to that in the future.

Fabiola A.

Yelp
I generally don't post reviews. But this place in the heart of the Grove is such a gem, I had to post. Paul has not only been in the Grove for 35 years which says a lot about him, but he also makes everything from scratch and doesn't skimp on portion size. I'm a pizza fan and Paul's Sicilian pizza is the best I've had! Crust is crispy and flavorful. Pair it with his great Greek salad. Soooo good. His red sauce is like no other. It simmers overnight making its flavor extraordinary! Paul's New York style pizza is also fantastic. Try that one too. Eggplant parm, chicken parm and all his pastas and subs are also GRAND SLAMS!! Oh....great tiramisu and cannolis! Paul is a legend! You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Anabella V.

Yelp
Great pizza and huge menu. Hidden in a small strip mall. There's a couple of tables outside you can eat your meal but preferably is a take out
google avatar

Brandon L.

Yelp
This place has become to go for Pizza in the Grove. I highly recommend this place! I've tried the provolone garlic rolls,The Famous White, chicken Parmigiana pizza, and the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. The Famous White and Buffalo Chicken are my go to these days. Tons of flavor and hits the spot. The provolone garlic rolls... oh my!! So good... do yourself a favor and orders these... amazing! 25 mins from phone call to pick up... quick!!
google avatar

Matthew R.

Yelp
The famous white pizza was good! Also really liked the baked lasagna. Meal was cooked in 10-12 minutes and they gave good service. Would come again

Stephany T.

Yelp
It was very good definitely recommend I had the lasagna and it's very cheesy and the bread was really yummy too the service was great
google avatar

Jackie J.

Yelp
If you are looking for the best grab and go pizza place in Miami then look no further. I am originally from Jersey so I grew up in the heart of the best pizza in the country, therefore I'm a pizza snob and I love this pizza place. When my family from Jersey comes to visit I always order from here because I know this is the only grab and go pizza place around that will live up to their standards. We order from here all the time when we have friends and family over and everyone has raves about the pizza. I have tried many different types of pizza from this place and I have yet to find one I didn't like. The Buffalo chicken pizza is my personal favorite. Whether you are a local or just a here for a few days on vacation I highly suggest giving this place a try.
google avatar

Melissa A.

Yelp
Could have been happier. We got there and an employee saw us in the car and courteously offered us menus. When ordering inside, they were very prompt and polite. The wait for the food (take out) was shorter than expected, about ten- twelve minutes. They came out of the joint and took the food to my car. The food was DELICIOUS! My husband said his sub was the best meatball sub he had ever eaten. The bread was fresh, the meatballs were sliced and perfect. My chicken Marsala was so yummy! Best Marsala I've had in a while. Three garlic breads come with the pasta. They were fresh and had the perfect amount of oil and garlic. We were completely content. We will definitely be going back for more.
google avatar

Tony N.

Yelp
To all the ex-New Yorkers , of which I am one, this is the pizza place in Miami. You know what I'm saying.
google avatar

Ricardo F.

Yelp
At the beginning I use to order Pauloluigi a lot.... great product and willing to pay the premium of the price - a little more expensive. However, I stopped buying... why. This is Pizza, you can be cheap with the ingredients. I am paying more, and the pizza is missing cheese.... not good. They need to go back to basis.... if the pizza is more expensive, the pizza must be better. For now.. PPole in Coral Gables.
google avatar

Shemain G.

Yelp
Delicious pizza and I love that it feels like a small, family biz and they treat you like this too.

Sandra C.

Yelp
My son's reaction to the pizza "we should get this pizza ALL the time." We shared a chicken parm & lasagna... I do not eat chicken parm but I can't stop thinking about it since I ate it. A MUST TRY

Greek V.

Yelp
Friendly service, great calzones! I especially like their Hawaiian Pizza. Soups are also quite good.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
This place is a must go to in Coconut Grove! Seriously missing out on some good pizza and great checkout service!
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
i love their pizza, their garlic rolls, their amazing service and the people who work their, and how easy it is to acces them! literally i've never had anything bad from this place. i love their greek salad. so much better than all the other pizza joints within a 5 mile radius.
google avatar

Pam W.

Yelp
After waiting an hour for our food we received the wrong order. Told it would take an additional 35 minutes even if we picked it up & no offer of compensation on this or future order. Last time for us.
google avatar

Haley F.

Yelp
Amazing!! I live close by and have ordered several times. Pizza and pasta is amazing, tiramisu is spectacular. Highly recommend
google avatar

Luis A.

Yelp
Simply put: the best pizza in Miami. If you're looking for a good slice or a whole pie you've got to come here. I've been looking for years for the best pizza in Miami. I think I finally found it. The garlic rolls, the service, and the family feel all makes a slice from Pauloluigi a worthwhile trip.
google avatar

Rae M.

Yelp
Excellent food. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the cheesy provolone garlic rolls. He got the pauloluigi calzone and said he would highly recommend it. I got the Greek salad and was pleasantly surprised. Salads can be really hit or miss but I really enjoyed this one. The ingredients were very fresh, especially the feta. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Monica S.

Yelp
Growing up in the Grove, my mom and I used to walk from the crib on Center Street to Pauloluigi's first outpost on Virginia. During our 15 minute stroll, I'd build up my 10-year-old appetite to the tune of baked ziti and casear salad - after all, Pauloluigi's made it the best. Once we moved out of the Grove, I never returned to my favorite Italian eatery. Nearly 20 years later, I've returned to the Grove and moved into a townhouse of my own only to discover Pauloluigi's opening up literally within 1 minute from my front door. While the new location doesn't cater to those looking for a sit-down experience, the to-go options don't disappoint. On the menu, I found the tried and true baked ziti I'd long missed and the casear as well. Adding to the mix, there's an authentic array of other Italian standards (pizza, calzones, meatball sandwiches, and a variety of pasta dishes). I ordered the 12" margarita pizza the other night and found it to be cooked to perfection. More thin crust than thick, the pie rivaled New York standards. I go to sleep easier at night knowing a childhood favorite is back in my life.
google avatar

Keith S.

Yelp
If you are staying in the Grove, or even close, and you want a carryout pizza, this is the place to go. You can get a 12 inch pizza for two or an 18 inch or 20 inch monster pizza that will feed a small crowd. You can get here from downtown by cruising down US1 and turn south on 27th, then turn right onto Bird. The pizza is about as authentic as you can get, they look and taste much more like the pizza I had in Italy than the chain pizzas. Crust is drier than those others who use a lot of oil, so it's really tasty and has a good crunch. Pairs well with the Banfi Rosa Regale which is a true Brachetto d'Acqui. We always get garden salads to go with the pizza and a cannoli for dessert. I have it on good authority that this is the best cannoli in America, and if you check my reviews you will see I have reviewed them from coast to coast. Parking is better now that they have posted some private parking signs, but be careful backing out, apparently the speed limit on Bird Ave is 100MPH.
google avatar

Rhian P.

Yelp
Nice local Pizza place with good Italian style pizza. Consistent pizza quality every time.
google avatar

Skot S.

Yelp
Paul from Pauloluigis goes way back in Coconut Grove history. He owned and operated the most amazing Italiano Restaurant in Coconut Grove. The only problem is there was always a line to get in, but you could smell the garlic knots two blocks away! So it was worth the wait. Coming from Manhattan my guess we are good judges of Italian food. Pauloluigi has since simplified there business mode, and they are take out only now, with rocket ship delivery. Lots of smiles on the telephone, and the same with the delivery crew. PS the pizza is super, and chicken parm and chicken francrsca is the best! The killer garlic rolls are also a must. finish off with their fresh cannoli Ask for the beautiful Alexandra . So Woohoo for Pauloluigi to go in Coconut Grove.
