"South Loop: Longtime pizza spot Pauly’s Pizzeria is permanently closed after two decades on State Street, according to a sign in the restaurant window first spotted by Sloopin. Popular with neighbors and area college students, Pauly’s featured New York-style pizza by the slice, deep dish and stuffed pizzas, and calzones." - Naomi Waxman

This place was so great! Bright my husband up to Chicago for his birthday and this started it off right. Super yummy pizza. Light crunch on the crust. Very cheesy! Calzone was so yummy. Real ingredients speak for themselves. No need to add a bunch of stuff if you're dealing with the best. Reminded me of my Aunt's cooking. Definitely recommend this place. Thank you!

As I was walking by this restaurant I smelled the welcoming aroma of cheese and fresh baked bread that I had to enter and get a slice of the good stuff.. I ordered a slice of their Deep dish cheese pizza to go and I wasn't so impressed 😔 Though their service was really nice, the pizza wasn't the Chicago deep dish I thought it out to be. It was quite cheesy, but the base was over bearing and dry. Probably a one time try for me .

The pizza was okay. Got a slice of deep dish. Big portion, about worth the price of $6 something. Not Giordano's/Chicago style deep dish though. The sauce was under the cheese and the crust was just thick and not anything special. Barely gets four stars from me. Three and a half would be more accurate.

It’s not the best pizza....it’s not the worst. I probably wouldn’t come here again—shouldn’t have gone in the first place, but for a big deep dish slice for $6.69 (including tax), I thought, “why not, I’m hungry and feeling like pizza”. The crust is breaddy and lacks flavor (I had to add pepper flakes, oregano, and parm’). The pizza was warm—because of a reheat, but cheese was a little burnt and not cheesy.

I ordered a deep dish pizza and wings for delivery on Saturday at 4pm. I ordered via their online system, which was a pain in of itself. The user interface is very user unfriendly. I couldn’t scroll up the menu without the triggering webpage refresh on mobile. Refreshing the page also emptied the check out cart, so it took several tries to get my order right online using mobile. My order qualified for the free garlic knots coupon they had on their website and their brochure, and I made sure it was in my order when I was through ordering it. At 5:15pm my order was delivered...without the garlic knots. I called the restaurant immediately to report this, and was met with a nonchalant “oh, well it didn’t show up on our end. We’ll make it up to you next time.” And I said “what do you mean?” “Well do you want to come pick them up or...?” I said there won’t be a next time. I’ve always been more of a Lou Malnati’s fan anyway. Food itself is good, my only recommendation is to call your orders in to the restaurant itself and go for pick up instead of using their online service using mobile. Ps: the deep dish pizza I got is NOT deep dish. It’s just regular pizza with a thicker crust. I’ll be ordering from Lou’s in the future instead.

We ordered a deep dish 12-inch. Ingredients tasted fresh and the pie was perfectly seasoned. Awesome service and nice, cozy locale. Will definitely visit again.

Absolutely delicious. The way an Italian beef should taste. Flavorful meat, delicious au jus, crispy fries. The staff is super nice and the food comes out fast. Highly recommend

The woman that was our serve was absolutely wonderful. She was patient and helped is make a decision. The pizza was good but pretty greasy. They are good for picking up a few quick slices. They also have some seating available but it's a limited. The menu has many side dishes and Italian foods other than pizza.
