"It’s closing time for Pax Americana, a Montrose restaurant that once served up some of Houston’s most acclaimed dishes. The restaurant, which debuted in 2014 led by Chef Adam Dorris and owner and restaurateur Shepard Ross, posted the news on Instagram yesterday that its last day of service will be Saturday, January 12." - Adele Chapin

I was a bit underwhelmed by pax. I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars though because the service was super and it is a decent place to try fine food. I just don't think it was suited to my taste. The food was a bit wanting. I did enjoy the bone marrow and the flavors with that. However the Korean red pepper pork ribs were disappointing. It was way too fatty and too acidic. The Farro and Texas oyster mushrooms were a little on the greasy side but did have good flavors. Almost tasted like risotto. I very much enjoyed the snapper, but I think for the price, it was only average, not amazing as a place like this would demand. The dessert was phenomenal. We had Eton mess and I found the cilantro ice cream to be light and refreshing. Overall, my impression of the food was average. Let me know what y'all think.

Amazing variety of food, great quality, very friendly team, drinks are creative and brilliant. Ambience is gorgeous. Too bad this place is closing :( Really bummed about it.

A friend and I came for dinner in a Saturday evening. The staff and service were great. We tried a few items from the menu: tomato tartine (difficult to share, but great flavors), Nashville hot chicken (messy to eat, great amount of spice and flavor), summer peaches (peaches were perfectly ripe but the chorizo was an unusual addition). Overall, great spot for dinner with lots of fresh, flavorful options!

My wife and I came here for dinner on a whim on Saturday. The food and service were excellent and the ambiance is quite charming. Overall I’d highly recommend.

I have heard from friends whose opinions I respect that Pax has slipped and is not so great now. I don't share that opinion. The dinner we had recently was absolutely outstanding. The flavors were bright, fresh and creative, and the presentation was pleasing. Our knowledgeable waiter recommended a couple of wines that complemented our meal very nicely. We dined at a table this time but usually we just eat at the bar. There's good energy there. I recommend it.

Tried the tasting menu, it was great! Would definitely recommend. The restaurant also has a very nice atmosphere and is conveniently located in Montrose. The food was very interesting and overall everyone in our party liked it. The service was great as well! Although I must add that some of the dishes were more disappointing than others.

This was awesome. A tad loud inside, but it is a smallish, cozy place with a very unique, different menu. Everything we had was exceptional. From the cocktails to the dessert. Whatever you get, it will be great. Service was excellent, easy to get to, valet parking, and handicap accessible. If I had one complaint, it would be the 3/4 inch ride in the threshold, had to back my wife's wheelchair in as the small front wheels got hung up. But that is pretty much nit picking.

I absolutely loved this place! Lots of savory food with a home-cooked feel. Service was very attentive. The bourbon cocktail I had was very tasty and bold. It really is farm to table with class. The only small downsides were the closeness of the tables and the noise. Would still highly recommend to friends.
