This was my first visit. Omg! I feel like a local Italian restaurant vibe. I ordered pink lemonade and recommended calamari, and it was just right seasoning, crispy and delicious, so my husband and I ate it all in an instant. The beautifully blooming clam flower on the Vongole and the Pomodoro pizza are fantastic, too. If I recommend an Italian restaurant nearby, it's definitely here.

Food was SO GOOD!!! I don’t remember the exact dish but it had meatballs and tasted so amazing it gave you had that “O.M.G!” thought. Desert was absolutely a chefs kiss, like a godsend. Very nice staff and comfortable atmosphere, overall another splendid add to Vienna and would definitely recommend going out with friends or colleagues.

Really disappointed. My office is in Vienna and we drive by this place all the time. They do a lot of communty functions so check before you go. We went on a Tuesday night, early, the place is totally empty, but the hostess sat us at a table outside of their up coming community event. The place got really loud. We are halfway through the meal and the musics starts up. Its too late to move(our choice) but the rest of the restaurant is empty. Yeah, I should man up and move but I really just wanted to get put of the place. Good wine selection, the upsell on the Barbaresco might have been worth it if we could enjoy it. Packed it to go along with a pizza. Francesco, our waiter, was gracious and apologetic. But management and the hostess really did suck. As new diners I guess we don’t matter as much as the regulars. The dessert was extremely nice, exactly as Francesco explained with the wine. Not what I was expecting nor what I wanted after work. Maybe we could have asked about any events going on, but isnt that really on them? I don’t think I will be back.

Google
The food was fine. They had two waiters, the male waiter was absolutely rude! We simply asked him to take a photo, and he replied (I’m not paid to do that), yet they charge 20% tip.

Wow! I was given a gift card to this restaurant and boy oh boy do I wish I had gone sooner!! The food was absolutely incredible, the atmosphere is very Italian and the service was on point! We had a Quattro Formagi pizza to start, a caprisi salad, the salmon, the zuppa, pistachio cheesecake and tiramisu- it was all absolutely amazing. The food was served in perfect timing, at perfect temperature and the serving sizes were absolutely perfect! I highly HIGHLY recommend!!

Google
Was here for a concert and took the family out eat. We chose Italian and we could not have picked a better restaurant, the food, service, and atmosphere was amazing. Everything we ordered, was perfect. The antipasta was so delicious. Thank you all for a great experience and some of the best lasagna I have ever had.

Google
Great cozy place to eat with the family. The food is always top notch, and the staff are very polite. Theres a wide variety of dishes, I haven’t tried anything I didn’t like. The garlic bread are *chef kiss*, the meatballs are the right amount of tender and the lasagna was very rich. I got the agnolotti carmela and it was very flavorful, really good. Stop thinking about it and go try them out!

Google
Disappointed Cobb salad was pathetic, 3 lettuce leaves + 2 unfresh slices of avocado for each person. You can see the black parts. I showed it to the server. He said it’s fresh, it was just cut, so what can I say. The egg in the salad smelled weird too. Chicken wrapped Spanish in risotto was meh, chicken old and smelly. Hubby’s pizza was mediocre. Lastly, atmosphere feels good when I walked in however served put us 2 in a tiny corner where the room has no one sit in. So I didn’t feel the lively atmosphere in another room.

Yelp
Wow!!! Outstanding restaurant! I researched restaurants near Wolf Trap and saw the reviews on this place and decided to try it before we went to a performance at the Wolf Trap. Very cozy date night restaurant! The staff was very polite and friendly. The food was delicious! I wished we lived closer to come more often. Best waiter service I've had at a restaurant in a long time. Adorable place with delicious Italian food.

Yelp
This review is an exception as we've never experienced such poor service. We came for celebrating anniversary and left with embarrassment. Food was good and we all enjoyed it. Extremely disappointing with our waiter Mauro. Not a good thing to scold the customer in front of their family and the whole restaurant.

Britny N.

Yelp
I really had high hopes for this place and was looking forward to it because of all the good reviews. Upon entering, I was immediately turned off. The place itself seems kind of dirty, stuffy & dusty. We ordered arancini, which I was very excited to try, but I'm not sure why they tasted strange. They tasted like they were either made a while ago and frozen and have freezer burn or tasted kind of soapy. For our entrees we ordered rigatoni with eggplant (added meatballs) and my husband had a pesto shrimp dish (I don't remember the name). These were surprisingly pretty good. I liked the big chunks of eggplant but I do think there was too much sauce. I also ordered a cocktail, it was their Palermo and I'm so sorry, it was horrible. We had to ask the waiter to take it back and I just got a glass of wine. Overall I just really don't think it was worth it, each of our dishes were $30. I know people really love this place, this was just my experience.

John W.

Yelp
We go here fairly regularly and enjoy the food and service. I always say this place is like Dolce Vita in Fairfax City. Pazzo has a more extensive menu, but the food quality is very good. The restaurant has a nice side room to get you out of the hustle and bustle of the open kitchen and the Bar area in the back offers a pleasant adult dining experience.

Claudia L.

Yelp
I've dined at a Pazzo numerous times - finally remembered to write a review! It's definitely a favorite in my family for casual friendly Italian; especially their gluten free pizza. I love the Melanzane Parmigiana e Capellini (eggplant Parmesan) as well as their salads. One minor issue: I feel like the salads (especially the house salad) are overpriced for the serving size - but that's certainly not a deal breaker. For dessert, the baci are always excellent!

Soo C.

Yelp
Service great. Ambiance cozy and welcoming. Food mixed. The quality of the food was great. Fresh ingredients. We had two salads which were both a lovely combination of flavors. The pizza had an excellent crust with loads of cheese yum. Our pasta dishes were a little on the bland side and it wasn't hot. Barely warm. I'd return for the pizza; however, the tomato sauces to me were disappointing. The desserts were both perfect and not overly sweet. Excellent

ZH B.

Yelp
I had a bad experience here. The service was rude and unhelpful, it ruined my dinner. The food was so so. I will not be back.

Tracey D.

Yelp
It was a typical Saturday night but when I asked for regular cheese not vegan cheese I got told how busy it was. It wasn't a huge difference from sprinkling one cheese rather than the other and I wasn't sure what I was getting since it was so busy he couldn't promise the change. I ultimately received the regular mozzarella cheese. My husband and friend both had the gnocchi and my daughter the pasta. Everything was fine but nothing was great or anywhere near exceptional. The bread was ok and served with butter, Parmesan cheese and oil. I was never asked if we wanted a soda or anything to drink but water was on the table. The dessert menu didn't look great and nothing gluten free for me so it was time to pay and go.

Claudia R.

Yelp
Great service here. Seems like all the locals come to this little Italian place. Food is ok. Not amazing and we had 3 different dishes but the vibe makes up for it.

Yelp
I've only been here for work dinners before so tried it on my own dime last night and it was worth every penny! The house Pinot Grigio was quite good and reasonably priced. We shared some sort of tuna tartare salad as an app and it was delicious! Tuna was very fresh. The kitchen split it into two plates which they didn't need to do, but it was very nice of them. Gluten free pasta is available here so I had a pasta dish with pesto and shrimp. The pesto was soooooo yummy! My husband had the veal special, and it was so large he had leftovers. For dessert we shared the mousse. They put the biscotti on the side for my husband to make it gluten free for me. I don't usually like mousse, but this was the lightest fluffiest mousse I've ever had! Our server was wonderful and very nice. The restaurant was very busy but noise level was fine.

Yelp
First time trying the food and I took my order to go as the place was packed on a Saturday night. As I have had pappardelle Alla Bolognese (Ragu) in Italy, what I had was nothing recognizable other than the fresh basil leaves on top of the dish. Pappardelle is usually freshly made 1/2" wide flat noodles and what I got were lasagna noodles from a box. Although the amount of ground beef was generous the sauce was bland. Sad to say I had to take out some Parmesan to give it some flavor. I would say the blandness would be great for those that can't take any spice or sodium. It was piping hot which was in contrast to the arancini which definitely seemed like it came out of the freezer and got minimum time in the oven. It was barely room temperature in the center of the rice ball but the melted mozzarella and little bit of sauce that it was baked in was better. I am not sure if I will go back as it was disappointing and since the sauce was bad the pizza will have similar issues. If I were to give it another try I would opt for something not served with a red sauce. Also the credit card fee that was not mentioned at all until I saw it on the credit card receipt was another thing I did not appreciate. If you are going to punish people for using credit cards you need to put a sign by the register and on the bill as the staff are unreliable to convey this information.

Yelp
My family and I love this place. We stumbled upon it one evening when looking for a new Italian place to try and haven't gone anywhere else since. Everything from the service to the food to the ambiance gives you the full on family Italian restaurant vibe. Definitely give their garlic bread and Greek salad a try for an appetizer. The chicken Marsala and pappardelle bolognese are awesome but even venturing away from the typical dishes will reward your taste buds. The dessert list is no joke either. I can't recommend this place enough.

Chad N.

Yelp
After having been here several times the food is quite good. The lasagna in particular is a personal favorite. The ambiance is pleasant although crowded at times. They have an excellent wine selection. One recommendation- if you order takeout in particular -pizzas. Check them before you leave. The pizza I ordered last night had the four ingredients put in four separate corners. I don't understand it but can only assume I was given the wrong order or someone in the kitchen was having a bad night!

Hyeongseo K.

Yelp
Cozy sized restaurant with small tables so coursing is extremely important. For appetizers we had their garlic bread and bruschette miste which was a generous portion size and well seasoned. We ordered the penne al salmone affumicato and gnocchi sorrentina to share. Between two people we were full from appetizers already but the pasta was cooked to a perfect al-dente that we could not resist to eat a little more. My favorite was the salmone affumicato as the sauce was so creamy and rich. I wish we had room for dessert but maybe next time. Service was a little slow but we went around peak dinner time so was to be expected.

Kevin L.

Yelp
Delicious authentic Italian cuisine. Had the pappardelle and pizza. The pappardelle had good flavors and and a sizeable portion. The pizza was delicious too and a good dish to share. Lots of choices on the menu too, so worth coming back to try some of their other dishes.

Kassity L.

Yelp
We've been to this place many times, and unfortunately have to say that the service has always been pretty bad. Normally, they are just slow to get to your table and take your order - they always seem to have too few servers ... and they're running around trying to serve too many tables. The food also comes out slowly. The last time we went, they completely forgot one of our orders too, and when we asked about it, the server actually seemed to be in disbelief about it. So bad service all around. Now setting aside the service (if you're ok with it being shitty), the food is generally ok which is why we do come back. I find their calamari to be salty, their bolognese to be good (though usually the sauce lacks depth - just a simple tomato meat sauce), and their ravioli and other pasta dishes to also be decent (nice creamy flavors, though salty at times as well).

Grace S.

Yelp
I was pretty disappointed :( Calamari was amazing 10/10 Bolognese had no flavor at all. The sauce was watery and flavorless. 5/10 Pesto special was good, 6.5/10. Ambiance was really not my favorite - very pizza place that has tables versus quaint restaurant that serves pizza.

Godmother B.

Yelp
Great environment, warm, authentic decor and helpful staff. Pizza was a stellar standout, wood fired authenticity in every bite with the cheese melting in your mouth. A bit pricier than other Italian places nearby but the pizza was well worth it!

Lisa S.

Yelp
Came back for the seafood pasta and also tried pizza this time after receiving suggestions. The seafood pasta was superb like the last time and the pizza was amazing. Finished the night with tonight's special dessert - a slice of rolled cake and a scoop of gelato and it was fantastic!

Vivek P.

Yelp
We're a vegetarian family of five and went on a whim, not knowing what to expect. It was awesome! The food was incredible. Well crafted, with some creative tweaks. I used to live in Boston and my wife lived in Providence and this place is better than most of the Italian places up there. The staff was very nice and personable and funny. It felt like a family-run restaurant without being too informal, overbearing, or intrusive.

Lynn M L.

Yelp
Great lunch with friends today! Our server, Mauro, was fantastic and handled 7 people with separate checks brilliantly. When I ordered a glass of wine he recommended one he thought was better and it did not disappoint. The arancini was tasty - better than what I've had in Sicily. I enjoyed the special Penne al Barolo and brought some home to save room for Limon cake. A cozy respite on a rainy day.

Shelby P.

Yelp
5 stars for Francesco. One of the best wait staff I've ever experienced. He was so welcoming and friendly. I would eat there again just for him. Food was pretty good. We got the paperdelle, salmon and gelato. Nothing was out of this world memorable. The paperdelle noodles were very good themselves but the sauce was lacking in the consistency as well as the depth of flavor. The wine list was great and there were many options.

Holly G.

Yelp
Love coming here for a special Italian night! They have many gluten free (and normal) options and everything is delicious. Gluten free options cost 2-3 dollars extra but to be able to get the same delicious Italian food it's definitely worth it. The ambiance feels like Buca di Beppo but if your Italian grandma designed it, perfect for a date night. Our servers have always been kind and helped us decide between the many menu options.

Sadia K.

Yelp
Have now tried this restaurant twice - one sit-down and another time takeout. The takeout was for margherita pizzas, and we weren't particularly impressed - primarily the sauce was pretty unforgettable. The restaurant itself is charming and cozy, and I can see what it's popular with the locals. For our sit down meal, our meals were not anything special, which is a shame - we really wanted to love it! Service, on the other hand, is very friendly and attentive.

Tim M.

Yelp
We've been to Pazzo Pomodoro or gotten carry many times in the past and were always pleased with the food and service. Our most recent visit, however, was disappointing (except the bottle of wine). One of the people in our party was vegan and before we ordered the flatbread we asked if it had cheese and our waiter said "no." When it came we again asked if had cheese and again he said "no" when there was clearly cheese and another waiter confirmed it. We all ordered pasta and it was OK but nothing like we were used to getting there. One of the waiters tending our table also made a rude comment to one of the women in our party that she didn't even eat half her food despite clearly eating a good amount of a healthy portion of pasta + bread and an appetizer. We're hoping it was just because it was a fairly busy Saturday night but certainly not what we expected and are used to experiencing!

Dhillon W.

Yelp
I came to Pazzo on a Saturday night and it didn't disappoint! For appetizers, we shared the calamari and the aranchini. For my main course, I decided to order the lobster ravioli special. Everything that I got was delicious. Service was great. Mauro was very nice and attentive. Great place for authentic Italian food!

Jay P.

Yelp
This place is not meant for vegetarians; their vegetarian options are bland and basic. Their breads were basic, too. Sadly to say, Olive Garden might be a decent alternative here. I came here for dinner and had some red wine - which was the best part - but unfortunately, that was the only best part. The customer service was average but our waiter, Ivan was wonderful. An Italian place like this could thrive if they put effort into the decor, the flavoring and even seasoning/options of breads. This place is unfortunately basic at best. I sense a lack of effort here.

Marian K.

Yelp
Authentic Italian food, awesome atmosphere with great service. The waitress was attentive and checked in often. Both meals were divine. I added fresh Parmesan and crushed red peppers to the pesto dish. My cousin enjoyed her gnocchi. So many other dishes to try. Definitely coming back

Mariam A.

Yelp
My experience here was great! The waiter my party and I had was fantastic and helpful. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and it was so good! It was flavorful and crispy. The bread was also delicious with the butter and olive oil. I ordered a penne pasta with smoked salmon and wow my mouth is watering even typing the dish! I can't wait to go back and order it again The salmon was smokey and the sauce went well with the pasta. I can't wait to come back here again!

Chris C.

Yelp
Sundays at the bar in Vienna (ask for malloch!) they have live music 9-12am. Food and drink specials, and even a late night food menu that runs until 1230am! 10 beers on tap, 50+ bourbons and whiskeys; it's paradise. Wood fired Pizzas, homemade pastas, fresh seafood, great specials, and a fantastic reserve wine list (25% off Mondays btw). Just added a second private dining room as well. Word on the street is, they just purchased the spot a few doors down to start selling Italian sandwiches with fresh meats, wines, and pastas to go. There's a temporary sign up already announcing it's arrival in early 2022

Lindsay N.

Yelp
decent food and our server was very helpful! we also ordered calamari which could have had more flavor

Alexis M.

Yelp
Went here with my friend and we loved it! We got the garlic bread, a beats salad, butternut squash ravioli, and chocolate cheesecake and a cannoli for dessert and it was all amazing. Every single thing was good. The service was good as well although the food came out a bit slow but I think they were just really busy as it was a Friday night so that's okay. We also got espresso martinis and they were delicious. Definitely give this place a shot if you're in the area!

Michael Hoplight H.

Yelp
In my opinion, this was a very nice restaurant. The staff very intent on making your visit enjoyable Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. Very tasty. Very fresh I had a little problem. I asked the server if they make anchovies and spaghetti with olive oil and he said yes. So that's what I ordered. What I received was spaghetti with a red sauce and a can of anchovies dumped on top. I never like to make an issue when I go to a restaurant so I tried it. Usually the spaghetti is put in a frying pan after cooking it al dente with anchovies and olive oil have been warmed . I am sure the server did not understand what I was asking for. Next time I'm in Vienna Virginia I will definitely stop at this restaurant

Steve S.

Yelp
Went for lunch after haircut next door. Place empty except for a couple of local tables. I was ignored as a single. Lunch menu poor for an Italian restaurant. My meatball sandwich that I had to defer to was one of worst I ever had besides taking 30 minutes to arrive in an almost empty restaurant. My server was inattentive and would not ever turn head to check on me but profusely adoring to one set of regular couples that had come in. I had to walk to wait stand to get my check and was given one from someone's else table for $70 plus bucks. When I put my glasses on and the waiter saw I was going to inspect the check said Oh I guess I gave you the wrong one. Do not recommend for lunch unless retired in area and want to gab with three other friends and not in hurry. Food not good. Service very bad for a single.

greta g.

Yelp
Wonderful food, service and atmosphere! Love this place! Very nice wine and beverage selection.

Healtheelicious D.

Yelp
Another healthy and delicious spot in NoVa. The wine is amazing. Best red wine ever. The flat bread was not my favorite ( not healthy and not worth the calories, not the best I have ever had). The lamb chops and the oyster dish were great. Pistachio gelato is way to go. If you are a red wine lover/ snob like me try this wine and let me know what you think.

Sam L.

Yelp
The food was good, the service was attentive, but the kitchen was slow. Our entrees did not arrive until until an hour after we were seated (we had appetizers). Here's my pet peeve -- a credit card "surcharge" added to the posted prices on the menu. Seems to me the more ethical thing to do if you accept credit cards is to post the actual price on the menu. If you want to give customers a discount for paying in cash, that's OK, no one complains when they are paying less than the price on the menu. Right now, the surcharge is a surprise adder at the end of the meal.

Jill V.

Yelp
We love this restaurant! The staff is attentive and the menu is extensive. Thanks for the fun evening!

Su T.

Yelp
Our regular pizza joint. Fantastic knowledgeable staff, cozy old-style comfort ambiance, amazing pizza-Neopolitan style (would surely satisfy the AVPN requirements!) Great bar in back for a different vibe.

Bella J.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place and have been coming here frequently last 2 years. 1. Reservation - you can always find a seat. This is a big establishment with lots of seatings. 2. Food - amazing After having tried almost the entire menu. I think I love their grilled calamari (they also have deep fried if you like), Zuppa di Pesce della Costiera Amalfitana and their pizzas. I can go on about how amazing their zuppa is all day long. But, instead of reading about it, do yourself a favor and go have one. 3. Drinks - wine selection is expanse and their owners work hard to maintain their selection as well as the rating. Last time, I tried their Barolo by the glass and it was great. 4. Service - it is like a good wine, they're getting better each time I come here. There was a brief few months when service was sub-par but whatever the management did is working. I absolutely love their service and what a pleasant experience they can give you. 5. Outside seatings/covid precautions They have tent outside for those who want to avoid being indoors. Staff wears mask and tables are placed far. It is a great place for date night, family meal, friends get together or even business meal. Highly recommend, I am so glad they're located so close from me.

Katie P.

Yelp
Love discovering local favorites and WHY it is so. Food - we had the Pappardelle Bolognese and Penne Salmone. Absolutely delightful. I had the pappardelle and I loved the balance of the meat to the sauce (tip: you do need to tell your server to make sure they add tomato sauce if you want what I had) and I'm told the pasta is homemade! The penne was exactly what my husband was looking for: light, yet creamy. We topped off dinner with Tiramisu, with a taste of the Baci di Sofia Loren. Again, everything is homemade/made at the restaurant so it didn't disappoint. Location/COVID precautions - tucked in a shopping center so there's free parking. They have a tent set up outside for outdoor dining. All the staff are wearing masks and gloves. We felt safe eating here. Staff - this is what makes this place 5+++ stars. I'm sure you'll be taken care of regardless of who is serving you, but tonight I want to give a special shoutout to Jerry. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. He knows the menu well and made great recommendations on both food and wine! He has passion for what he does and it was evident with every table that he attended to. Verdict: go here, bring everyone, and have a GREAT family meal.

Lama H.

Yelp
Service was ok- but please do not believe the hype, the pastas here lack seasoning , flavor, and depth. The only thing we enjoyed about the pastas was the texture. We Ordered 4 different types , and all of us ate one bite and could not believe how this place is so highly rated ... we felt bad asking for boxes immediately after getting our food and ended up going somewhere else. If you are looking for real Italian cuisine -this is not it, I would compare this place close to one step above Olive Garden but that's it..

Philip S.

Yelp
This impression is from one visit on New Years. I phoned in an order, to go. I would not recommend the combination of major holiday, phone order, and custom pizza at the Pazzo Pomodoro. They have a good oven, pretty good ingredients from what I could tell - though I could quibble about the anchovy (very salty) and the strange brown mushroom looking things that tasted like wood char that I didn't order for my pie - and a great server staff and environment. So where's the problem? Everything about communication failed. Over the phone I clearly said my name, my order (Margherita, add garlic, artichoke and pepperoni and some sides) and waited in the parking lot for 10 minutes before going in. At the concierge I am told they do not have an order for me - they did, just the wrong name. I found my order by the items on the bill, but... they had anchovies instead of artichoke on the pie. They were very responsive to try and get it right again (good!) but got the pie wrong again. (Plain margherita add garlic and artichoke, but they forgot the pepperoni.) I walked out with two wrong pies, one gratis. I understand that holiday staffing could be an issue; I also understand the noise level in the restaurant was pretty high. Yeah, I understand. Tough to rate: the staff was 4~5, the food was 3~4, the experience was 2~3. Between a 3 and 4, but certainly not a 4. There are a few Neapolitan and New York pizza places to use for comparison to the Pazzo Pomodoro; of the three I have tried the Pazzo would not be my favorite place to phone in a pizza order.

Tim M.

Yelp
Some of the best pasta you will ever have! The pasta is handmade and you get to really enjoy the pasta and sauce flavors. Lot of their ingredients are from Italy . Nice ambience , certainly there has been some thought put into the decor and overall feel of the restaurant. The service is not on point but at acceptable level. Go for it !

Matt P.

Yelp
Best Italian food in the area. So delicious. Also the staff was absolutely wonderful. Can't say enough about the food at this place. I will say the ambiance is blah, but who cares.

Tammy L.

Yelp
sooooo gooooot ma, food so good, small price, big food, very full, very gud, satisfaction.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
We took our adult daughter to the Vienna location for her birthday at her request. We were a party of 9. The restaurant is extremely noisy. My husband chose a bottle of wine, but refused it after tasting (his first refusal of wine in his 55 years of dining out!). The wine master agreed the wine was sour. We then had 3 bottles from a fresher case. The food was mostly just okay. Pizza is good, as were appetizers. One of our party sent the bucatini/ seafood's dish back because it was tasteless (they forgot the capers). Our waiter was somewhat sullen even though we were charged a mandatory 20 % tip. This restaurant wants to be good. It's just not there yet

McKenna C.

Yelp
good italian food but a bit expensive. the little berry chocolate desserts are delicious!!! the gnocchi is my favorite.
