The 21 Best Restaurants On Cape Cod - Cape Cod - The Infatuation

"This French bistro in Wellfleet works well for lunch outside on the picnic tables or a sit-down dinner inside, but is best for the excellent to-go options at the bakery. Stop by for watermelon gazpacho soup, quiche lorraine, and lunch sandwich specials like boursin cheese, bacon, honey, and scallions on a tasty baguette. Or, pick up picnic provisions like housemade pâté that comes with dijon mustard and pickles, a loaf of french bread, chocolate or almond croissants, and some canned drinks on your way to Lecount Hollow Beach down the street." - jennifer mattson, carlo mantuano

This is a must stop during a visit to the Cape for any Francophone or food lover alike. Baguettes, croissants, sandwiches, pastries, cheeses, jams, and other French food. The line may be long but it’s totally worth it! We’ve been visiting pretty much every year since they opened. A small pocket of France in Wellfleet.

Everything you could want in an American French Café. Went for lunch and there was a plentiful selection of both breakfast pastries and lunch items (e.g. pizza). Coffee was exceptional, as well as the danish and pizza. Cramped inside gives an authentic feel, but plenty of beautiful outdoor seating and decoration. The french wording, Eiffel Tower model, and kind customer service really decorate this place well. 10/10 would recommend.

We were so excited to visit PB Boulangerie in the summer of 2023 for some authentic French treats. Coming from Boston and being a pastry chef myself I expected It to be good but not to be blown away. I was wrong! Every pastry was better than the last. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere was wonderful. We came in for breakfast and immediately made a dinner reservation for my partners daughters 21st birthday later that week. I had the steak frites and it was phenomenal, followed by the raspberry tart that I still think about. The server was amazing and the restaurant was warm and inviting. Fast forward to this summer, July 2025, PBB was of course one of our first stops on our Cape vacation. We got the strawberry danish, apple turnover, pear tart and raspberry macaron. All were AMAZING! The Danish and turnover were perhaps two of the best breakfast pastries I have ever had. This time we did feel a bit rushed. We came right as they opened and the staff was clearly trying to keep the line moving which we totally understood. We probably would have spent a good walk more time and money if we hadn’t felt so rushed but my waistline didn’t need it :) and it gave us a reason to come back another day! We went back this morning, we got in line around 6:45 and were third to enter. We did not feel rushed at all this time and were able to look more thoroughly. My boyfriend got the ham and cheese croissant and both he and our dog LOVED it! It was warm and flaky, the ham was salty and crisp, it was really perfect. I came back for the Canelles and they did not disappoint! They were crispy and sweet on the outside, and custardy and moist inside. You could taste the rum just enough, they were as close to perfect as I have had. As someone who works in the industry, I absolutely love what they have done here. It’s like a little bit of France in Massachusetts. I enjoyed it so much that the first time we came in I reached out to see if I could stage while we were visiting! Unfortunately our schedules didn’t align but maybe someday! We were so sad that the restaurant wasn’t open this summer, it is clear that staffing issues have taken a toll. Hopefully they can reopen soon because it is really a special experience to dine with them. You can feel the love that is put into everything they do. Keep up the great work!

We came here based on a friend’s recommendation, but nothing really blew us away. The complimentary tomato bisque was great — fresh, with nice flavors of cream, onion, and garlic. We also had the baguette, éclair, mille-feuille, strawberry tartare, and coffee. The cream in the mille-feuille was delicious, but the éclair was very average, as was the tartare. Coffee was just coffee. We visited on a Saturday around noon and had to wait in line for about 15 minutes. Not sure if it was worth the wait. Probably won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Biked over with my boyfriend and parked out front (they have bike racks). We waited about 20 minutes to get in. It was warm and a little cramped inside, but everything in the cases looked amazing. I got a chocolate almond croissant and a tomato basil mozzarella sandwich. Both were really good and came out fast. Prices were a bit high but fair for the area.

Story: As a local I remember when PB was being built. In fact, I worked for the company which built it. As a member of the community I remember some folks talking about replacing a seafood shack with a bakery was not going to work. And I remember laughing to myself that they didn't know what was coming. Review: A wonderful must stop in treasure in Wellfleet and all of the lower and outer Cape. Whether breakfast, a quick treat, coffee or lunch for the beach, you will not be disappointed. The food and la pâtisserie are trés magnifique! The staff and ownership are attentive, caring, and hold the French ideals of elegance and refinement in everything they do. Take away: make sure you stop in!

Google
The pastry, cookies, and croissants were amazing. I definitely recommend it. Be prepared to wait in line. We were there early in the morning as it was an easy detour from the bike trail. The woman who helped me was great 👍. French chef owns this establishment.

Yelp
We were recommended to try this place while on the Cape and I am so glad we did! It is a small, unassuming spot but worth the drive! They have a large variety of fresh baked breads, pastries, sandwiches, quiches... everything you could imagine! They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar. I had the raspberry tart and a cappuccino. The tart was not too sweet and the fresh raspberries were perfectly tart and ripe. Both were absolutely incredible! It was so hard to choose what I wanted, because all the pastries looked so amazing. I definitely want to try their eclairs and their quiches next time. Everyone that worked there was so friendly and helpful! Definitely an adorable spot that's food transport you to France.

Yelp
Probably the best boulangerie we've been to outside of Europe. Worth the wait in the long line. We had croque monsieur, quiche Lorraine, the daily soup (OMG), and lots of pastries. Prices were quite good considering what you got. Their croissants were SO good. The Suisse was the best. We never got to try the roast chicken, but this would be a great place to order takeout from to eat in. Order pickup stuff the day before (by 3 pm) to skip the line. Right off the bike trail, too, so super easy to get to by car or bike.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing, world-class baked goods. My apricot danish was perfect. Eclairs and pear tarte both superb. Great sandwiches too!

Yelp
Simply amazing food! The range and breadth of this amazing bakery is unparalleled. Not just in the Cape, but anywhere in Mew England. My only issue is actually not with the business, owners or staff, it's with the patrons. Please pay attention and show up with a plan for your order BEFORE you pull into the parking lot! It's the dopey old coots that stand on line jabbering and and walk in with random dumb questions that create the lines outside and slow down the experience for everyone else who just wants to get a great coffee, croissant and baguette. Wake up and move it along people! French KISS!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're fortunate enough to have been to Paris, then you know about the length of time you'll remember that first, perfect croissant. I've had many decent croissants here in the states, but I'm pretty sure the best is in Wellfleet MA on Cape Cod. But don't stop at the croissants, as you'll miss the perfect pain au chocolate, the incredible tartes, and delectable pastries. After my visit there yesterday, I couldn't stop thinking about the place, so I popped back down first thing this morning. Whatever the distance, it's worth the drive, but especially in a convertible!

Alisa R.

Yelp
Loved it great pastries and my friend gluten free and they had a nice selection Definitely would go back
google avatar

Yelp
What a special treat on the Cape! Visited here two mornings in a row and bought bread to take back to Boston because we just couldn't get enough. Don't miss out on this gem.
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! I'm in love with the koughan ahman or however you spell it. Look at my picture! It is divine! Buttery flaky layers of puff pastry to die for! And the Lindsor tart was amazing!!!! Everyone is so nice here and the pastries are absolutely delicious. This is a must stop!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious does not even begin to describe the plethora of offerings. Breakfast, lunch and take out choices are amazing. The bacon, egg, cheese croissant will ruin you if you eat one anywhere else. Pastries, bread, etc are sublime. One day, staff came around and offered (warm) just made samples of raspberry strawberry jam. Authentic, French food and pastry. I could literally eat there for the rest of my life
google avatar

Jen R.

Yelp
So many choices! We stopped in for a pastry. My husband had lemon meringue tart. I had something with a French name that was cinnamon and sugar. The server was incredibly knowledgeable and patient with our 100 questions. The shop was set up exactly how it should be very simple, and easy to follow. We were hoping to make it back and get a sandwich to bring to the beach the next day but by 11 o'clock the line was down the sidewalk. Next time we will order sandwiches in the morning.
google avatar

Carol N.

Yelp
Delicious pastries!! Very friendly bakery wait staff! Only suggestion is that the restaurant needs to have a system for recycling; it's shameful for a commercial food business to not recycle, especially at the beautiful and wild Cape.

Pan F.

Yelp
This place is totally overrated! You wait in line for hours to get just okay baked goods. Service is soooo slow! Express was not open when we went - joke! Its sad because it is a great location! NOT WORTH THE WAIT!!

Yelp
This spot is very conveniently a stone's throw from the Wellfleet trailhead of the Cape Cod Rail Trail, so I decided to pick up a chocolate eclair & cream puff before my biking journey. I admittedly don't think I've ever had an eclair quite like this one--I ordered it expecting to have the chocolate topping, and the vanilla/pastry filling. It was filled with a very dense semisweet chocolate filling, and was quite heavy (I wasn't able to finish all of it). The cream puff was quite good, and I enjoyed that. I think if I am in the area next time, I'll try to check out the chocolate croissant/some of the fruit danishes. There are a handful of casual/sit-down tables outside, and the place is pretty popular, so there was a steady straem of customers, including mid-afternoon. Overall, a nice spot to check out before/after a bike ride, especially!

Yelp
Beautiful French pastries, fresh juice, and espresso served with expert courtesy and care. I can't imagine being on Cape and not stopping in at least once.

Yelp
Pricey but tasty French bakery and restaurant with a yummy baguette and foie gras platter, delicious cookies and a great almond croissant. Wasn't a fan of the quinoa salad/tabbouleh. Friendly service and plenty of seating. Really charming spot.

Yelp
We enjoyed lunch here on our way up to PTown at the suggestion of a colleague who is more familiar with the area than us. The full parking lot and long queue outside was a little bit intimidating but seemed like a good sign. The line took some time to get through but nothing prohibitive. I appreciated their few vegetarian options and ordered their tomato mozzarella baguette for lunch as well as a kouign-amann and OBVIOUSLY a croissant. GF ordered a salmon club or something of the like. The pastries are gorgeous and belong in a pastry museum. The baguette was nice and long. The sandwich was fucking delicious but tomato, mozz, and pesto are classic flavors with which you can't really go wrong. I will admit the sandwich plugged me up for DAYS as those ingredients leave something to be desired in the fiber department but 10/10 would recommend. The pastries were better than sex. I actually literally dropped the fucking container about 1/2 inch short of putting it on the counter at our guesthouse, causing the pastries, and all associated pastry shavings, to go all over the fucking floor. Fortunately, this was after the photo shoot and after I had sampled both of them.

Yelp
We loved this spot for lunch. It was a bit crowded but very much worth the wait. Authentic, high quality, delicious baguette sandwiches...totally hit the spot for lunch and I would absolutely go back here next time I'm in the area and recommend it to others.

Yelp
Dinner is a pre fix menu but not one of those boring ones that only have a few options for each course. The octopus was absolutely amazing, I would eat it over and over again. Much larger portions than expected from a French restaurant too. You can add on oysters and cheeses between courses too if you're feeling exceptionally hungry. Service was great; quick and knowledgeable. Sat outside on the cute patio and they played some authentic French instrument mid meal. Such a great experience. Going back asap and if you're reading this, you should too!

Yelp
This is the first of countless restaurant reviews that is admittedly quite tough. The food is deserving of five stars. The ambience is wonderful if you are seated at the main dining room. The service we received was so poor it was comical. We did not know that only the dummies dine on the porch. The main dining room was lovely, lively and busy. The menu is prix fix at about $100 per person for 3 courses. Heavily weighted for local seafood with an excellent French flair. We may have been subject to this untrained and lackadaisical waiter as the porch is Siberia but I bet the other waiters are likely competent. Over 2 hours to get served is too long and we had to beg for the check and took home dessert.

Lenore T.

Yelp
This place has great fresh French pastry to die for. Expect a line and a wait. I never phone in an order but might be a thought!

Sara M.

Yelp
As a bakery their breads are very good but we had a horrible experience in the restaurant and I will not go back. There are other bakeries in town w just as good products

Diana P.

Yelp
Fantastic sandwiches for lunch and lovely wines by the glass indoors. Wish there had been more umbrellas so we could have sat outside but 5 stars because the food was wonderful!

Yelp
PB Boulangerie in Wellfleet, Cape Cod offers a delightful French dining experience. From the moment you step in, the rustic yet welcoming ambiance sets the tone for an extraordinary meal. The menu boasts a variety of French delicacies that are sure to please any palate. Start your culinary journey with the escargot, tender snails bathed in a delectable tomato spinach sauce. The mushroom tart, with its flaky crust and flavorful mushroom medley, is a savory delight. The succulent duck, cooked to perfection and accompanied by a luscious sauce, is a standout main course. For a refreshing option, the tuna sashimi shines with its delicate slices of fresh fish rolled in wasabi. Indulge your sweet tooth with their exquisite Creme brûlée, featuring a caramelized sugar crust and velvety custard. And don't miss the chocolate mousse, a silky and decadent finale to your meal. The restaurant's warm tones, antique accents, and French bistro-inspired decor create a charming atmosphere. The attentive service and knowledgeable staff add to the overall dining experience. PB Boulangerie is the place to go in Wellfleet for an authentic taste of French cuisine. With its dedication to quality ingredients and impeccable flavors, it promises a memorable dining experience you won't soon forget.

Yelp
This was my third time there. Every time I go, the food gets better. Also, our waiter. Michael was wonderful. Ambience was also very good.
google avatar

Yelp
PB has some of the best French pastries on the Cape. Their full service restaurant is also outstanding, with many great dishes, bringing us back for more every time. By far one of the best restaurants on the outer cape!

Yelp
Croissant Sandwich (croissant, ham, cheese) Plain croissant Iced coffee Total: $26.00!!! I know this is wellfleet but phew. There are no breakfast sandwiches worth 15 dollars and this is no exception. Croissant was overcooked to boot. Good but not good enough for this price.

Thao T.

Yelp
I always make an attempt to visit this bakery every time we're in Wellfleet and usually get pastry/bakery items along with a couple of extra sandwiches to go. Absolutely love the tarts and croissants, they make the usual wait in line worth it. On my last day on the Cape, I went first thing in the morning to avoid the long wait. The staff person helping me with my order wasn't the friendliest, but wasn't super rude either. Because I was in a rush, I didn't notice until I got all the way home that my white chocolate bread was burnt and the chocolate croissant was substituted for an almond chocolate one instead. The croissant substitution normally wouldn't bother me (it was delicious!), but I wanted the chocolate croissant for my nut-allergic child who couldn't have the substitute. As for the bread, it was disappointing to eat because it ended up being too dry and burnt on top. On a different occasion, I've gotten this bread and it is delicious when done right. Overall, a very good bakery with usually top notch items. Just remember to double check your order before you leave.
google avatar

Ben M.

Yelp
When we visited for lunch there was a lengthy line - for good reason! In addition to the assortment of pastries we got that were very tasty, the French Revolution sandwich is among the best I've had. The combination of Boursin cheese, crispy bacon, and scallions on a baguette was delicious.
google avatar

Alison L.

Yelp
Love this spot! The breakfast sandwiches and pastries are all amazing! Def want to try their dinner service sometime.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
Thank God, the PB Bistro, Chef Philippe, Eliza, Chloe, and magnificent staff are open! What a meal-two soups (tomato & green), sea bass (amazing), tartin (dessert), fresh raspberries (dessert)-we were thrilled. Merci Chef! jrd

Yelp
Stopped here on the way back from Provincetown and was impressed with the pastry selection and the ham and cheese croissant had a hidden layer of the most amazing bechamel sauce. We bought some items to take to cook for later including the best parmesan risotto on earth as well as some assorted items. My mother in-law wanted sandwich bread so she got a loaf of pain de mie as well as half a loaf of white chocolate bread... I later found out that she hid the white chocolate bread from her husband and ate it all. That's how good the white chocolate bread is I would highly recommend PB Five Stars
google avatar

Yelp
Sumptuous...prix fixe...watermelon gazpacho..eggplant caviar appetizer..roasted vegetables..scallops with spinach and pomegranate...chocolate tart and sone other dessert..plus a baguette to go...wonderful friendly service..I ordered the beans as my side -I didn't care for them so the waitress let me order sautéed vegetables and brought me mashed potatoes while I waited - I'm not a mashed potato person but these were to die for...pick up something from the bakery and the little French grocery in the restaurant
google avatar

T. G.

Yelp
We loved this spot! Parking is easy and they have a beautiful outside patio. We went 2x on our trip to the cape! Delish iced coffee, sandwiches, desserts and pastries! Loved the bacon, egg and cheese on croissant, the beautiful apricot danish, cheese danishes, assorted cookies. Basically loved everything! A must stop by if you can! Note, they are CLOSED Tuesday's!
google avatar

Liz C.

Yelp
This is a great little business! Excellent coffee and mouthwatering chocolate croissants. I haven't been there for dinner yet but it is definitely on my list. For now you can't go wrong with anything in the bakery. The express line was great too!
google avatar

Andres D.

Yelp
Great French pastry shop! Huge selection of delicacies and every single thing we tried was excellent. Pastries were the big appeal for me, but there's also a huge selection of breads and cheeses and other fine things. Very cute indoor ambiance too, and some nice tables to sit outside. It struck me as a very random location for a fantastic French bakery, but don't look a gift croissant in the mouth! GO!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Great croissants and coffee. A must stop for breakfast! The express line is much faster and offers all the coffees as well as plain and chocolate croissants!
google avatar

Natacha F.

Yelp
Just off the Cape Cod Rail trail and a perfect place to take a break. Food is delicious and VERY French. I highly recommend the flan as well as a ham baguette.
google avatar

Ann P.

Yelp
Best croissant, hands down, on Cape. Flakey and light and sensational. I have tried croissant at a few other bakeries on Cape, non can compare. In fact, all their treats are wonderful. The French grocery, not to miss. Off season, short lines and a more relaxed experience. No matter when you go, it is worth any wait.
google avatar

Alyse H.

Yelp
A little taste of France on the Cape. Pastries are amazing. Though busy during the lunch hour, the staff were attentive and friendly.
google avatar

Pam H.

Yelp
French pastries so good ya can skip going to France. Thank god there's often a line, otherwise we'd go every day which would not be in the best interest of our health! Still the line moves reasonably quickly and it's totally worth the wait. The most difficult part is deciding what to get because everything looks and smells amazing.

Jay C.

Yelp
I don't understand how this business gets an average of 4 stars. In my experience over a few years, the bakery goods are reasonably good, although the service in the bakery is terrible. And the prices are reasonable for what you get, as long as it is fresh. Sometimes it is not, and once one has left the bakery it is way too much trouble to get back into a long line to complain. The restaurant food is incredibly overpriced and underwhelming. I was served an entree recently that hadn't even had any salt added, never mind any other flavourings. Fresh fish is nice with any number of herbs, or shallots, or even a little reduced white wine. It had nothing - not even salt, and to make matters worse, it was poached in what must have been water. I have eaten seafood all over the world, and I think I can safely say nothing has been as disappointing as my experience as PB's. Never again, mes amis.
google avatar

Diego S.

Yelp
Coffee is good pastries as well ! Nice place on the cape cod Massachusetts! U have definitely have to stop at PB
google avatar

Lori G.

Yelp
We enjoyed an extraordinary dinner here in June, 2023. Chef Philippe and his incredible staff pulled out all the stops for our private party, serving our group of 33 an astonishing, elegant and sumptuous multi course French meal. My husband and I had, to my chagrin, failed to notify our host in advance that we were vegetarian and Phillip and his team pivoted without blinking an eye and added incredible, bespoke entrees especially for us, to substitute for two of the meat courses that we couldn't eat. Had we anticipated SO many courses, we'd have never said a word as there was so much food anyway, but in truth, each delectable taste was special and well worth the experience.
google avatar

Lana K.

Yelp
Food is wonderful, service was great but we didn't know that they have a $95 pre fixe dinner only. Appetizer, entree and dessert. Too much food for me but I didn't want to just leave. The take home loaf of bread was a bonus. Nice ambiance.

Isabel V.

Yelp
We have been going to PB Boulangerie for the past 5 years. Last night we went for the first time this summer and it was a huge disappointment. The restaurant was not very crowded when we arrived for our 6:45pm reservation, so we were taken aback by all the issues. Starting with our drinks - limited beer selection and one of the taps wasn't working. It was pouring red wine instead of beer, and had been since last week. Why hasn't anyone fixed it? Ran out of Aperol for the Aperol spritz. It was listed on the menu as an offering. The appetizer of escargot tasted as if the lid of a salt shaker came off over the dish, dousing the appetizer in salt. I tried one and was surprised; tried 2nd and gave up. It was not edible. The waitress offered to bring something else, but I opted to wait for the main course. The salt off the 2 escargot was so heavy, it lingered in my mouth for most of the meal. While the bernaise was cold and textured like mayo, the steak was prepared beautifully and seasoned perfectly. The mistake I made was leaving the table for a few minutes. When I returned she'd removed the steak (there was more than half left) and French fries (although not great as they were a bit soggy; I had not given up on them) and disposed of my meal. My entire meal in the trash. Couldn't have waited for my return? I've never eaten at an upscale restaurant where they remove and dispose of your meal without asking if you are done, or if you want to take it home. I'd been storing morsels off to the side for my dog. My dessert while good was missing the almond dacquoise. She comped my wine and cappuccino for the inconvenience. The check was still close to $300 dollars. We cancelled our reservations for this upcoming Saturday. I'd recommend sticking with the bakery and their lunch sandwiches.

Yelp
This place is the BEST place to eat in wellfleet!! I love their tarts, I've had pear and raspberry. Every morning I just want to roll out of bed and bike there. I've also had their pizza du jour, very yummy.
google avatar

Sally B.

Yelp
This place has the best desserts! Secondly we love their take out dinners, I've never had such delicious roast chicken! Everything I order here is really good and consistent. Now let's talk about the breads and pastries. OMG! Really! That good!

Mike K.

Yelp
This place is amazing, must try on the cape. The food in both the bakery and restaurant is out of this world.
google avatar

Van V.

Yelp
This place's problem. The line is way, way too long. I have attempted to stop but when line is 10 people long and does not move in 20 minutes, I give up. Fortunately, my daughter had better luck late Sunday afternoon. The bonus for our dinner: amazing baguette and exquisite pastries. The owner woman helped daughter with a fantastic selection. The one with the whipped cream...out of this world. But all the pastries were amazing. Just so tasty and flaky and the perfect buttery, not too sugary recipes. Now our problem: pastry crumbs are all over the table! As good as Paris, truly.

Yelp
Have been a loyal fan for about a decade now. They are AMAZING! Closest to France croissants I've found in the U.S. stop in for pastries, sandwiches, prepared foods, coffees/teas, specialty market items & more! Love love love them!
