I can get just the right amount with no wastage. Always like to try their fresh flavors at the hot and salad bars.and today's bonus for me, Eco tea all leaf Yerba Mate.

What a gem this store is! Super clean, well-organized and a wide selection of both basic and specialty items. There's a stand for sandwiches, cheese, pizza and of course the standard butcher counter. They have a surprinsgly good wine selection and some baked goods as well. This is in the bottom of a housing complex, so parking is underground but well-lit and secure. Enter through the ramp on the west side of the building (22nd Ave). The first section is marked for PCC customers only and then the residential section has it's own gate. There's an elevator if you need it, but also stairs.

Stopped in to pick up lunch & they had a great selection. Parking in the garage was tight, but I would do it again. Lol. Great cheese bread selection. Deli had several options.

This is just…….bizarre. I’m an older woman with short hair. It’s short, actually, because after chemo it never came back as full. So I have one of those boring, old lady short haircuts. Anyway, my short hair is all I can think of that possibly triggered this man. I was checking out, chitchatting with the cashier and bagger. The gentleman bagging was retirement age. I mentioned I was in Seattle for a couple of months and I really thought the fall here was gorgeous. One of them asked me where I was staying. I said west Seattle near Alki Beach and he said, “Really? You look like you live on Capitol Hill. You must feel safe around Capitol Hill, they go for all that alternative stuff.” What? I was wearing a forest green gap sweater , a black rain jacket, and Athleta dark blue pants. And olukai shoes. The most absolutely bland middle class outfit you can possibly imagine. My whole entire life, I have never felt *unsafe* because of the way I look. Until that man opened up his mouth. What the ever loving hell? I am the most boring, Talbots-wearing, pbs-viewing divorced middle aged woman you will ever meet. Ask the cashier, a young gentleman. He was very nice. It was so *strange.* It was unsettling. Makes me want to start dressing like a witch or something, if I’m going to be targeted when I have always dressed to disappear. Edit: I know I sound out of touch; I think this just shocked me because I was in Seattle of all places. Plus, I still don’t know what I “look like” lol. It was just something I never thought about. I just had short hair now. I think it’s good, because it reminds me I have to be a more active proponent of respect for all people. I just didn’t know I personally had reason to be afraid if I was in a conservative area. Now I know. And I’m glad I’m counted in the “out” group!

Worst prepared food section of any pcc. Never stocked during morning and afternoon meal times. Shelves also poorly stocked for common items as well.

Google
Yeah! Organic & mostly local and owned by the customer!! Higher prices? Then think about how low your medical bills will be...

So clean and pleasant. Great selection of local stuff, including beers and wines.

I'm an East Coast transplant and a certified pizza snob, so when I find good pizza in Seattle I rave about it. I just had two of Sophie's - PCC Pizza Maker Extraordinaire - Chicken, Bacon, Ranch slices and can honestly say that they were phenomenal slices! Thank you, Sophie!

Yelp
Everyone working behind a counter in this store is amazing, as well as a few of the cashiers. Only reason I'm giving more than 1 star. Everyone else needs to check themselves. I'm talking about the folks who work checkout. It is so uncomfortable checking out and this is my home store! I shop here almost every single day I'd say half the time I feel like I'm being watched over my shoulder. Recently an employee straight snatched something from my hands because I used a salad bar container for hot sides and thought I was trying to get hot food for a few dollars less. I selected hot bar, I even pointed at the screen and they were looking like the gestapo had the wrong house. That was the final straw. Doesn't matter, you need to instruct your employees that making physical moves like that is not okay and will lead to someone getting legal action involved at some point, it's only a matter of time. Like if you're so concerned about people stealing and not checking out correctly then maybe stop relying on self-checkout. Because the alternative has your employees alienating regulars. Now I'm going out of my way to drive to another store, you just lost an everyday shopper.

Yelp
Today at 2;45 pm as we were checking out a young associate named Amanda, aggressively came up to us at the self checkout line insisting we did not weigh our hot food correctly. She was profiling, and was very nasty with her tone. She insisted that my husband did not choose the Hot box option on the screen (which he certainly did) After her stepping inbetween us which is very rude and disrespectful of our boundaries, she then doubled down on accusing us of trying to get the box cheaper. I told her to weight it herself, and she did and it came out to the same price as when we did. No apology, no nothing just nasty talking insert her breath. She told us she was doing her job, which is fine but to insist we did something we did not, should have come with an apology. I advised her that she was wrong and my husband decided not to buy the food at that point. The most disappointing part of this is i work for the city of Seattle, and this is the same type of profiling we try so hard to fight against. People like Amanda have no place in public spaces and in service, with racist and prolific undertones. I would like a manager from this store to contact me immediately.

Yelp
I just had my last coffee at PCC. Why? Because their compostable lids leak all over your clothes every time you take a sip. So please go back to what was working. Perhaps it's not as "green" as some in the community would like but consider this: 1. Having to wash your clothes more often from coffee stains is not green. It's a waste of electricity, water, cleaning products and time. 2. Green is not good if it's a massive downgrade in performance. Go back to what worked and change again if and when you find a green product that performs. 3. These cups leave a sour taste in my mouth about all things green. I am sure I'm not the only one. My clothes now are stained and I smell like coffee. Its the opposite effect I was looking for. It's likely the opposite effect you were looking for, too.

Yelp
The Central District PCC has become my go to for groceries but lately I haven't been having the best experiences. Today felt like the third strike. Strike 1: A couple months back we purchased a jug of orange juice. The next morning upon pouring myself a glass a huge chunk of mold came out. I went back to the store to return it and let the cashier know. They acted like they didn't care. I get that this kind of stuff can happen but good customer service is acknowledging a bad experience the customer had. Strike 2: Two weeks ago we purchased PCC brand chicken sausages and went straight home to cook them. The date was still good but the meat was rank and smelled terrible. I immediately went back to the store to return them. The cashier seemed a bit more sympathetic especially after opening the bag they were in and could smell them. Strike 3: We were shopping in the store this afternoon when all of a sudden a tall, sturdy male employee came around the corner of the salad bar into my walking path. As a female I get pretty freaked out when a large male is coming quickly towards me and as a result my reflexes triggered and it was one of those things where you don't know which way to go. The employee said in a loud tone, "DUDE!" and kept walking. I understand refrigeration issues can cause spoilage but having an employee act this way towards a customer really spoiled my experience shopping there.

Yelp
Dangerous parking garage. Witnessed one car scrape a pole and delivery driver parked in only handicap spot in just one trip to store. Astronomical prices with 10$ for strawberries and 16$ for hot fudge.

Anna D.

Yelp
horrible cashiers. walking around and snooping like vultures. I do not recommend making purchases at the self checkout bc they'll assume you're stealing, and they don't even make a living wage, like stop boot licking and stop assuming.

Roger H.

Yelp
We rented a house for a few nights a few blocks from this market. I was pleasantly surprised to find great quality items in this store. They have great baked goods, excellent selection of wines, a great selection of prepared foods, and an ample selection of all the grocery store basics and staples. It reminded me of a smaller version of Whole Foods before they were bought by Amazon. Checkout workers were friendly and efficient.

Johnny M.

Yelp
The tall Caucasian gentlemen from the front that wears the too little plaid shirts, lied out loud and yelled that my dog jumped at some children to attack them! Stated other things about my dog that I didn't appreciate ! Then had the manager to follow me in the store so uncomfortable! While I talked to the manager the guy comes up and I interrupts our conversation yelling and called the cops and said we are disrupting shoppers . And she she let him. Omg !! I couldn't believe that. At the end of the day it was racist!

Yelp
To the beautiful associate that does produce at 7 am in the morning!! I needed coffee and she went beyond to help and try to get some and found out they was all used up or cold But her pleasantness , smile and customer service made my day more pleasant Her name was Cheryl /sheryl short adorable lady

Yelp
A very unpleasant experience to say the least if you're black. The employees won't help you, which isn't the main problem. It's the constant watching and stalking throughout the store while only having few items for breakfast in our hands. I noticed the man at self checkout with a mustache moved over when my mother and I went to checkout. We needed help with the self checkout because the machine thought we didn't ring an item out. He proceeded to check every item we had to make sure we weren't stealing and then got another employee to come over and watch us walk out. Not even mentioning the man at cheese counter who thinks he's security watching you walk through the aisle and again, didn't even ask if we needed help. This was not how I wanted to start my morning and if you're black, I suggest you save yourself the trouble with employees who think they're better than. I've been going to PCC with my mom since I was a kid and this the first time I've ever had this happen.

Yelp
PCC is a great grocery store to have near our house. Convenient to access walking, but also has a parking lot for those that drive (and it feels safe / clean). It's not a giant store but they a great selection for the size. Their prepared food section is amazing!! Key callout is that it is $$$.

Madison M.

Yelp
I gotta give a shout out to this store because when other grocery stories were out of nearly everything during the snow, PCC was up and running with fully stocked shelves. Also, unlike some other stores in the area, PCC had all of their Holiday hours clearly placed on the glass doors/windows. It made it super helpful when walking around trying to find something open! This was my first time in for a specific thing but will definitely be back, the pizza looked pretty tasty!

Yelp
I enjoy frequenting PCC for what it is and when I want stuff. I've been shopping this local PNW chain since just before the old small & charming Seward Park location closed. A new prominent fixture on a cozy corner right in the CD, this moderate sized natural/organic grocery store is a welcoming & refreshing update with a nice thoughtful art installation overhead. Well stocked, clean and airy are a few of my favorite things. You can't refill bulk spices here (nearest refill is at CC) but there's still plenty of good staples in the packaged & produce sections. My favorite snack is the Kasha Bar that happens to be naturally vegan and quite wholesome, I might add. The garage is decent; be aware that upon exiting the sidewalk is a blind spot and as such approach it very slow or treat as a stop sign. Room for improvement: Similar to the CC location, the parking garage design just seems mediocre. Probably becoming an industry standard, they seem designed for medium to compact vehicles. My favorite pet peeve is incorporating the floor columns into the parking stalls and not even painting them a good safety color. I hope they paint a mural along the empty north wall; that would be sweet.

Yelp
I was a little surprised that a PCC just opened up at 23rd and Union this week -- after all, there are plenty of other grocery stores within just a mile or two. Will PCC offer something different enough to compete with the Trader Joe's, Safeway, QFC and other nearby Central District stores? The store is on the ground floor of an apartment building, so it has (some) underground parking below. You kind of have to circle the block to find it, it's toward the back and not currently signed. There aren't a ton of spots and street parking is limited at that intersection, so maybe they're counting on foot traffic from nearby? Inside, the store is kind of a mini version of other PCC stores in the area. It has most of the same departments, just a smaller selection. When you walk in, there's a produce section, flowers, and a small bakery area (everything is pre-packaged, no bakery cases). Next are drinks, to-go cold meals, and a deli section with cheese counter. At the back, there's a tiny wine section with a single cabinet of liquor, then most of the back is for the hot bar and meal stations -- pizza, sandwiches, etc. (Those weren't fully up and running yet, but probably will be soon.) There's a small meat and seafood counter, dairy case, and then dry goods on shelves. Oh, and a nut butter/olive oil/maple syrup fill-your-own station! Prices are PCC prices, a buck or two more than a similar product would be at a regular grocery. I probably wouldn't come here for a full weekly shop because $$$$, but I'd stop in if I needed a couple of things right away or wanted to pick up dinner. They do have a small selection of gifts and home items (soaps, novelty socks, wine stoppers), so this would actually be a pretty good place for an emergency hostess gift or to build a food gift basket! Seeing as they've opened during COVID-19, they were able to incorporate that into their build-out, so there are social distancing stickers on the floor and plastic shields at the registers. They clean the shopping baskets and ask shoppers to wear masks, so it feels pretty safe to shop. Overall, this PCC is probably too fancy for me to shop at often, but good for those who want a big selection of organic produce and lots of options for lunch or dinner to go.

Yelp
I've been to several PCCs in Washington, a member for about 3-4 years, and my experience is similar at all locations roughly 75% of the time. Location: If the location isn't a predominantly "affluent peoples" neighborhood, it will be soon. Nothing says progressive blue state like feigning ignorance to the displacement of BIPOC communities. Prices: I usually double check prices online for items at PCC and Co-ops, you can easily find items marked up by roughly 25-40%. If those profits are used to pay staff, let's see the breakdown in those emails for free products no one likes. Customer Service: Great! Sometimes I get the occasional "forget to ask if I'm a member", but that's to be expected in a neighborhood reaching peak gentrification. Atmosphere: I know you can't judge a company by its patrons, but this is probably the worst part of shopping here. I have to mentally prepare myself each time I go to shop, to be accosted by impatient shoppers. If I had my phone ready to start filming, these fine folks would be very displeased when they discover they have a new nickname on social media. This is especially problematic in PCC metro area parking lots which are so small that impatient drivers/pedestrians quickly resort to name calling, and passive aggressive sneers (probably something that can be addressed). Pros: Other than that 4 stars!!! Love eating organic and local foods! Especially in neighborhoods previously occupied by fast food, liquor, and payday loan sharks, it's nice to be able to get healthy food options without having to adventure miles away. Dear, PCC marketer, please don't respond with a line to contact for resolution. These issues are systemic and not per individual. If you figure out how to bring equity to poor BIPOC neighborhoods without displacing, alienating, or demeaning its previous and current residents you will have achieved something no one else has. Good luck. I hope you figure it out before the next "coming soon" sign.

Jacob K.

Yelp
Although more expensive than most places PCCs assortment of prepared foods is unmatched

Banango F.

Yelp
Be mentally prepared for discrimination experience. I will definitely not going back there or other PCC location ever again, I had panic attacked 3 times going there:( from the fine customer and from the fine staff there, for example the fine staff who works at the cheese bar, unreasonable unfriendly, most the time they won't acknowledge me or ask if I needed help BUT if I go there with the Caucasian folks I get helped right away... I'm a member of PCC since 2015 The organic food are great a bit pricey but worst thing is unacceptable racist experiences!

Yelp
As a black person I normally would have tried many other options before PCC, but as it was late, raining and I was hungry I made an exception last and am still regretting it. leaving my vehicle in a rush I put my coat on inside out, this lead everyone inside the establishment to assume, I'm guessing because I'm also black and have an afro that I was homeless. by the time I made it to the hot food, all eyes were on me. Customer Service was immediately called and several employees came out from the kitchen to stand guard and watch me collect the sub-par food. Despite this massive overreaction none of them seemed to have the ability to articulate their suspicions, so they were just waiting for me to dash with bated breath. Must've been at least 6 hourly employees just watching me, plus however many curious PCC customers pretending not to notice and me feeling downright trapped in this interaction. So I marched the food to self-checkout paid nearly 30$ for it and would have left and repressed the whole thing if not for one last interaction. As I was leaving, an employee, another black man, with hair far wilder than mine, obviously ignorant to the fact that I had just paid full-price for this food that I had been implicitly on trial for stealing for twenty minutes, leaned in to Snarl at me "HAVE A GREAT DAY!" and now I'm here. do not go here. especially if you are black or happen to in any way resemble a poor person. because if they think they can, they will treat you like garbage.

Arika S.

Yelp
Pricy but delicious! Great looking little space with a good selection for the size. Bakery and deli items are not to be missed and good ready to eat meals are plentiful.

Yelp
Came to the store this morning for a shopping at 7:30am. I needed to get one pound of Cremini mushrooms. The boxes were almost empty I would say two more pounds of mushrooms left and I had to choose whatever they had. In a couple of minutes a guy with name Daniel brought two full boxes of fresh mushrooms and I said I would love to choose the fresh ones for me. Looks like he never liked it and asked what is wrong with the ones that I choose? I said they look wet and I don't like them just want to get a fresh ones. Then he asked me again are they bad? I don't know if they are bad I just don't like the mushrooms I had to get because they were the last in the box. I've seen that Daniel is asking me too aggressively and I thought I'll go and get some apples until he leaves because I feel uncomfortable when someone is aggressive around me. He left two boxes of fresh mushrooms and added the old ones to top of the fresh ones. When he left I came back and wanted to get fresh mushrooms, then he came to me again and said - don't put bad mushrooms there (the ones that I had to pick earlier, the old ones) I said they are not bad I just want to get a fresh one. Even if he thinks that the mushrooms are bad why do they sell them and let people choose them? He left. I got a pound of fresh mushrooms then he came back again and in front of me started to throw the mushrooms back toward the store quickly and very aggressively. The mushrooms were everywhere down the floor in a produce section I was shocked and scared of him. There was a lady behind me she looked at him with scared eyes and run away. I was very calm and asked if I can see the manager. He said - You know what? I am a product manager! I asked him, Why are you so aggressive with the customers? You're scaring me. He came right in front of my face was laughing and saying some bulls**t about how he cares about customers. I said, I don't want to talk with you anymore you're too aggressive I don't feel safe with you and I left. Just want to let you know I was talking very calmly and politely and never said any bad words at all. I always knew that the PCC store is the best place where you can get the freshest groceries and the best customer care. I have never had anything like that in my entire life and I don't have enough words to explain to you what is happening to me all day because of him. Definitely, I'd never suggest you to come to this store while they have employees like Daniel ! Nov 22, 2022. 7:30am

Shelly D.

Yelp
Please check your receipt before you leave the store because I got charged twice for one item! I find this quite upsetting because I didn't given purchase that many items for this error to occur. It would have been obvious to the cashier to have corrected that mistake, disappointing. Overall the shopping experience was okay. The location is smaller than other PCCs hence you'll find a smaller selection of items. The store is clean and organized. The customer service is okay, the cashier asked if I wanted a paper bag, and that was it. As I left, there was a friendly lady that thanked me for my visit. This wouldn't be my go-to neighborhood grocery location, they don't have enough items due to the size. I'm want to give this location another chance so I'll check back in a few weeks (and I'll check my receipt)

Micah M.

Yelp
I'm writing this with a grin on my face, as I am sinking my teeth into their Cuban Chicken with Chipotle Lime Yams meal, one of the many grab and go deli items from PCC that are made by ACTUAL people who ACTUALLY know how to cook flavorful, balanced foods the way my grandma used to make (disclaimer: my grandma was a pioneer in her day and actually owned an independent health food restaurant, store and deli back in the 1970's). In other words, PCC is doing the way my grandma did: Make GOOD FOR YOU food and sell it at reasonable prices. And I mean good--have you tried their coconut curry vegetable soup? It tastes like I stayed home all day chopping fresh vegetables for it and letting it simmer for hours and hours until all the flavors were perfect. YOU DON'T GET THIS AT ANY OTHER STORE, especially Whole Foods. PCC, I'm obsessed. I will be your loyal shopper forever. Please please don't even think about going anywhere! Truly and thankfully yours, Micah Madison First Hill, Seattle

Yelp
The latest PCC is among the best. With time to prepare, they have optimized it for hygiene and safety. Ample free parking in the slightly hard to find garage (parking is on 22nd at the building's west end!), and easily accessible stairs if you want to bypass elevators. Staff clean all carts and baskets as they are returned. Surfaces are cleaned constantly. Checkout has plexiglass dividers and other precautions to prevent surface-to-surface contact. Masks were mandatory and used by 100% of staff (who also wear gloves) and all shoppers on two visits since opening. Very high ceilings also mean a lot of air circulation and air volume, which is another comforting factor. I've been a PCC member for 25 years, and this store lives up to the quality and selection of produce and food that I expect. The staff is doing a great job to be upbeat and helpful in the midst of making sure that all safety rules are met. I'm so glad to have a market nearby that I can trust going to right now, and to spend my dollars locally and know that they are also supporting local farms, ranchers, and other businesses.

Pearl H.

Yelp
Shopping here is always a pleasant experience. It's clean and the staff is friendly. Their hot food bar is also pretty tasty. Two things to note though: -their baked cookies tend to be a bit hard -the biscuit breakfast sandwich, while mostly tasty, is often hard at the bottom from being on the hot display case for too long.

MarsAttacks ..

Yelp
Nice clean store. Of course a bit expensive. Gluten Free options in the deli and baked goods is almost non-existent.

Jeremy A.

Yelp
If paying double for items in smaller quantities/vegan desserts are what you're into, this is your place!

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
Good groceries. Quality produce. Very convenient to where I live. Friendly people as well.

Christian A.

Yelp
I used to be doubtful about PCC because I've heard that the prices are expensive. I've finally went to one and I have been convinced otherwise. I think the biggest takeaway is the produce and meat quality. They are way better and at a different level than say a Trader Joe's. The price for produce is somewhat comparable. But other than that the other grocery items are indeed expensive. I've tried the sandwiches and pre packaged hot bar items and pastries, and they are all delicious and great for a quick pick up meal. The quality is definitely there, but it does come with a price and you get what you pay for.

Yelp
i often frequent pcc because i work across the street , i came to purchase food for lunch and was never greeted or acknowledge by a cashier named "charlie' half way thur the transaction i brought his horrible customer service to his attention,he told me while scanning my items that he didnt see me , i hope that this kind of behaviors is rectified because he was just out right wrong !!

Aj O.

Yelp
Paid $10 for 2 pieces of French toast and 2 pieces of sausage from the hot foods section and French toast was still goey on the inside and undercooked. And me writing this shows how pissed I am.

R D.

Yelp
Really nice grocery store that's got great prepared foods, wine selection and local products. The staff are great, helpful and knowledgeable. It's a very good addition to the Central District!

Yelp
Great place unless you want to risk being profiled and risk having a terrible experience. maybe they hired a few bad apples, maybe these people or this locations lacks the basic human benevolence, maybe i just get unlucky and this never happens to others, maybe what i experienced was just another example of the true lack of compassion people and companies show despite an outward presentation of good. you will most likely continue to support pcc despite my review, but i want to remind everyone that it is necessary to be critical and mindful of a company's claim and image of inclusivity and care. it is their efforts to create a profitable image with humanity and heart as secondary bonuses that are far less important than the profitable image they masterfully create for themselves. from my own experience i can not go to pcc with even the most simple expectations to not be profiled by my appearance. i will not share my race, economic class, gender, etc because that should not matter.
