Pea Soup Andersen's

We stopped here in the morning on a road trip to Los Angeles. We waited for it to open at 8:00AM. The pea soup did NOT disappoint? It was delicious. Highly recommend the Danish sausage as well. This is a tourist trap that must be sprung. Can a place have too much atmosphere? We hope to return for the Hap-pea Hour!

The food here is delicious! I’m not sure about the total authenticity, but the flavors were spot on. I tried the Danish meatballs, split pea soup, and salad, while the kids loved their chili cheese fries and hamburger. also liked the cute snack area. I’ll definitely be back to enjoy a full meal.

This place feels more like a classic roadside stop than a destination for great food. The restaurant is very large and clearly designed to serve a high volume of customers, so it works if you are looking for a place to quickly fill up during a road trip. However, the food itself was generally overcooked, and the waiting time for our dishes was longer than expected. The split pea soup with bread was interesting and unique. It is definitely something different and fun to try at least once, especially if you are curious about their signature dish. Overall, it is a convenient stop to get full, but I would not consider it a must-visit food destination or a “foodie” spot.

Such a fun place to visit. In its "hey day", it was an exciting stop and I always looked forward to the cool gift shop. I am a sucker for gift shops and this one is still good! If you collect salt and pepper shakers, this place has some of the best ones I have seen. We ordered the split pea soup and got it to go. It had a good base, but I wanted to doctor it up to give it some more intense flavor. It was pretty flat. I ordered a couple of sweet treats and they were too bland for my taste. The entire place could use an update. The charm of yester-year is valuable and made me want to spend money to support them, but the over arching feel of aged wear and tear made it hard for me to. I love supporting places like these and want them to stay in business! With that said, not sure I would be motivated to stop again.

Always a nostalgic stop for our family! Three generations of our family have enjoyed their wonderful pea soup over the years, making this a cherished tradition every time we pass through. I was truly saddened to learn this is now the only location left — it feels like a piece of family history is slipping away. For a family that doesn’t even eat peas, the Traveler’s Special is still a must! There’s just something special about that warm, all-you-can-eat bowl of split pea soup, paired with their soft, freshly baked rolls and a refreshing drink — it’s simple, hearty comfort food that never disappoints. And if you happen to stop by during breakfast, don’t worry — they even serve soup in the morning! Before you leave, be sure to browse their charming gift shop filled with nostalgic knickknacks and souvenirs to take a little piece of the experience home.

A time capsule of another time. Such a charming cute place. Their pea soup is quite nice. I crave it every few years and have to stop by. The staff is super friendly. The entire building feels like something from the past. You will never see new places look like this. Worth a stop just to cime check out the shop and look around. The food isnt spectacular but good comfort food. Nice fries.

So glad this place is still here. It’s been a minute I’ve been here but I’m coming more now. Only major complaint was I had to season my steak when I got it. Maybe that’s why they have the garlic powder stuff at the table. Pea soup is still top notch!!! Went odd hours so wasn’t busy at all. Their store is still stocked and I love the religious section up front. Sure many may be meh, but for a traveler sometimes just little things like these can bring comfort! Candy and sweet selection is also huge. They have sugar free dark chocolate!!

Rolling down I-5? Don’t miss mile 407 — right across from the TA truck stop there’s Pea Soup Andersen’s. Good eats, fair prices, and old-school cozy vibes. Plenty of parking, fast service, and food that actually hits the spot. One of those rare places that makes the road feel a little more like home. Highly recommend this pit stop!

Pea Soup Andersons! my favorite been in business since 1925, or 24?? anyways great place get the bottomless bowl and bread (crackers) that's all you need and a pepper shaker tuna salads pretty great too !

Great place to stop and eat. Food is good, portions are generous. We stopped by during breakfast and were able to order from the lunch and dinner menu. Service is excellent, staff is friendly, helpful and constantly refilling your drink. Ambiance is cute, lots of space to sit and eat.

Decided to make a pit stop in Santa Nella and I saw the sign "Famous Pea Soup." I was intrigued so my family and I decided to stop here. Apparently this is a very popular tourist spot. As they had a gift shop inside. And public restrooms. Their restaurant is old school English style. There were a lot of options on their menu. They're famous for the pea soup, so that's what we got along with pot roast which comes with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. Their famous color of the pea soup is not so appealing but it did taste good. And my mom thought the pot roast was cold when we received it, so our server took it back to be warmed up and came back with a side of gravy, which the meal needed. Overall, it was worth a try but not something I'd like to eat again.

Nice spot to stretch your legs and grab a bite off the 5 FWY, if you're headed up north. I ordered the famous split pea soup in a cup to try. It was delicious, a must. We also had traditional breakfast, waffles, pancakes eggs etc. The place is huge. They have a gift shop with all kinds of items plus clean bathrooms.

Had never been here over all my years until I came back from wine tasting Im like I gotta see what it's all about Got to sit down fairly quick but it was after the major lunch rush but the place was still busy Place definitely is old as its been around ages but I had to order the pea soup It was alright it didn't blow me away but it was still good and I'm glad to have experienced it Service was great and friendly!

A local bucket list we finally got to check off. Their split pea soup was creamy and pretty good. (Not something I'm very family with but I've had a can before and I didn't like it. ) My husband got the fried chicken. It was fried welll and extra crispy. (They advised this meal would take 20 min to prepare.) He did the Hapa Add on with the bowl of split pea and a chocolate milkshake. Milkshake was thick and good. I had the Danish Meatloaf a shot. The "loaf " meat tasted like compacted corned beef. The brown gravy was decent. The mash potatoes were good and smooth. My son got the Chicken Fried Steak and eggs. Veggies were cooked well. Tender yet firm, not mushy. Everything was a little under salted to our preference but could be intended that way. I'm very happy we tried it together as a family. The memories made it worthwhile. They also have a gift shop attached and a bar in the back.

Having stopped here some time ago and recently hearing the Buellton location has permanently closed of course we wanted to stop when our post holiday road trip took us right by Santa Nella on our way home. I have always loved the Pea soup and looking through the shops at Pea Soup Andersen's, I've been a customer for fifty years! Excited to introduce my granddaughter as well (her 1st visit).. It was concerning that our waiter overcharged not only us, I overheard another customer that came up to pay complain about charges on their bill as well. A practice like this in a well established business will likely detour those traveling our interstate to other "fast food" options.

I-5 in Central Valley is a traveler's desert, punctuated only with unmemorable truck stops, gas station and chain restaurant clusters every so often. And for those familiar, on one of the exits, Andersen's Pea Soup Restaurant is a welcomed break from the mundane, a glimpse of Denmark. It's iconic in its own right, this spot having been here since 1976. Pea soup courses in their DNA, but there's a lot more served, along with trinkets and tchotchkes, with clean bathrooms for customers. It's a nostalgic throwback to the mid-20th century era, times when cross-country travel was when you were king-of-the-road to discover America.

Place is still the same as the last time I came here. A lot of nice items to look around and buy. There's also a dessert to go if you like desserts. Our server is very friendly. Now about our food... it's delicious. Freshly cooked fried chicken. Big portions of food is good if you want to share with others. Just check out my images.

If you like the food at Ikea's food court ( I know I do! ) well then you will find the food at Andersen's quite appealing, especially if you're driving down South on the i5 from Washington State and haven't eaten the whole day. Really like the decor here, reminds me of Solvang...well it's Danish, duh~ Had a really great first time experience here, loved the Pea soup despite it my being canned, the Danish Sausages weren't too heavy, and the Danish meatballs and Sauerkraut Red Cabbage complemented each other fairly well. At first it was sort of too rich for my palate, but then with each bite, it just grows on you. Shout-out to Monica, and the front of the house host, for their professionalism. This restaurant is definitely worth stopping by along the i5. Well considering I was going to park at the Harrish Ranch Steakhouse down in Coalinga, but then found out they stopped allowing big rigs to patronize the place. Nevertheless, this was a worthy stop trucking through and taking a break for the brief moment! Food: 3.5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5

The atmosphere is great! The decor transport you to German or Amsterdam! Menu is extensive from the famous pea soup to much more. Pea soup is fresh and there is a vegetarian one too. Very satisfying!

Highly recommended that we stop over here and have the Traveler's Special : AYCE Pea Soup. Has a separate areas for a Cafe Lounge , Bar Lounge, and Dining Lounge . It has a bakery shop, cheese shop and gift shop! Was seated at the Coffee Lounge for a late lunch! Very large eating area at this lounge with booths set up for big groups as well. Soup special came with 3 pcs of dinner rolls and a choice of ice cream, coffee or soda. Hubby chose coffee! Service was ok with our server still have to be flagged down for another bowl of soup, water refill and coffee. Was surprised for server to add coffee on hubby's half filled cold cup !!! Instead of offering a new fresh cup !! so that made it lukewarm instead of giving another new hot cup of coffee!!! No bueno!! I had the Danish Style Meatloaf. Seasoning tasted so different with the one I am accustomed to . This Danish style had the dill taste which I am not fond of !!! But hubby finished the rest !

Great food, friendly service, lots of seating, cool AC. The food does take awhile to come out but it's worth the wait. The homestyle fried chicken is so good, it comes with homemade mashed potatoes, country gravy and fresh vegetables. Their homemade biscuits were also delicious!! It's a great place to stop when traveling from Northern California to Southern California.

I had a Monte Cristo which was very good. My husband had the pot roast which he said was just ok. The restaurant was clean and tidy. My only complaint was that the server came to our table and sat down at the booth to take our order and everytime she came by, she made herself at home. This to me is so unprofessional as I was a server for many years and we'd be fired if we ever sat down at the customers table.

This place is average at best. The service was lacking and the food was average. It's more a tourist location than anything else. Also, being served a dirty knife is horrible. It means someone physically handled the item and didn't pay enough attention to it when preparing to serve it at a table to notice that it was filthy. I posted the picture.

We always like to stop here on long road trips down the I-5! It's a lovely stop, with a charming gift shop and a restaurant/diner with the best split pea soup you'll ever have (if that's your thing). The food is great, the prices are fair, and the serving staff are friendly and welcoming. Pro tip 1: The Ev chargers out back are Tesla only. No co-op with other brands. So you'll be parking across the street at the TA to charge whenever they get those chargers up and running. Pro tip 2: The local water is pretty horrible. So don't order water for your table, or iced tea for that matter. Go bottled or order soda. You'll thank me.

Whenever I'm down interstate 5 I love to stop by for Andersons legendary split pea soup at their restaurant. It's never changed the feel so having that iconic dated look is not bad. You have to try it if you're into good old fashioned comfort food.

Good soup at a very high price! A bowl of pureed peas for $20...they are tasty peas but geez...kuhching goes the register.

Stopped by for a quick dinner and to try their famous pea soup. Vibes inside were warm and cozy and servers were nice. I tried the pea soup in a bread bowl and the pea soup itself was kinda underwhelming. To me it tasted like chicken noodle soup broth with a thicker texture, but it paired nicely with the sourdough bread bowl. They also give you chives, cheese, croutons, bacon, and ham to top off your soup with. Overall, was fun to try but definitely not worth going all the way out of your way to try.

Whoa my chicken and waffles is the cover photo sweet. I was thinking who else had that dish but it was just me. Good old Pea Soup Andersens with an E. Sadly my doggos couldn't join me on this trip. I was gonna try the app combo this time but went with a slightly cheaper meat lovers omelette special since I'm trying to keep carbs out lately. Ham, bacon, sausage, jack cheese. Don't come here for salad by the way. The salads looked all nasty no offense. It may sound healthy but that is not their specialty. It's diner food.

I've seen ads for this place so many times while driving on the highway, and I heard it has a long history--finally had the chance to stop by and check it out! The whole place has a really unique vibe, from the big windmill outside to the cozy country-style decor inside. Anderson's Split Pea Soup - 3/5 Honestly, not what I expected. I thought it would be smooth and slightly sweet, but the texture was kind of gritty, and it had a strong bean-y flavor that just wasn't for me. Alaskan Cod Fillet - 3/5 Pretty bland overall. The fish didn't taste fresh or flavorful--kind of a letdown. Veal Cutlet Copenhagen - 5/5 This one was a pleasant surprise! It's a ground veal patty that's pan-fried to a nice crispy finish on the outside (even though it's not breaded), and the inside was juicy and well-seasoned. The sauce on top tied everything together--definitely my favorite dish of the meal! It's a fun place to try if you're passing by, but not something I'd go out of my way for.

Me and the boys were driving up to UC Davis, and thought to swing by the famous Pea Soup Andersens . Unfortunately, the outside is where the fun ended. When we got in, we were quickly greeted by the hostess, who quickly seated us. The inside was quaint and rustic. We decided to order several things to share, including grilled danish sausage, pot roast, and pea soup. The waitress left a bad impression, with a kind demeanor nowhere to be found. The food was not much better. The pot roast was tough and dry, and the danish sausage was unimpressive. The pea soup was the best by miles, and even then it was mediocre. Overall, we did not have a great experience here. We suggest you to PEAs eat somewhere else where you can get better food.

We like stop here on our way to Northern California for the split pea soup. The soup isn't as good as it used to be to be in my opinion. The restaurant hasn't changed much in all the years we have traveled through here.

Pit stop on my way to Sacramento . What a gem !!! Split pea soup was amazing, along with their appetizer. Neat gift shop before you walk in feels like you're back in time . Pretty decent service everyone was nice. Very clean and well kept . Prices are also not bad for a famous landmark.

My love and I Frequent Pea Soup Andersen numerous times on the drive to SF. During the weekend rush hour tend to be a bit of a wait for dine in. Today's visit was not hectic, we stop in by 8:25pm on Friday , we were seated fairly quickly, the service we received were exceptional; each one of the staff we encountered were friendly and attentive. Both hubby and I had their daily special prime rib steak with vegetables and sides of choice $29.99 . Veggie perfectly cooked still has crunch . Prime rib had delicious tender flavor. Highly recommend their bowl of pea soup, portions big enough for two to share . They also offer "Traveler's Special ". $17.99 All you can eat soup , include cheese rolls, milk shakes & cofee /tea

This restaurant is conveniently located along the 5 for those travelers making the drive between socal and norcal. Your choices of food along this 200mi stretch of road is a bit limited. You either have the typical food food restaurants, gas stop snack or local diners like this one. The decor in this diner is a bit wacky, which I'm all for it. You get that quick diner waitress service, during the busy and slow times. Their claim to fame is their soup. So it was worth tryng. Its definitely very thick and deep in flavor. Tastes great with crackers but just made the soup thicker. I got the meat loaf with mashed potatos and not veggies. I subbed out the veggies with fries. Not sure why I did that. My little kid brain took over and wanted fries. Meat loaf was a bit dry and flat in flavor. But overall things tasted great. The soup combo came with a drink. I picked up a milkshake on the go. Again...my little kid brain wanted fries and milkshake. I should've got coffee or something. I didn't know I also ordered a side of regrets because the food coma started hitting hard when I was on the road. Overall, you don't really have much choice of food. This isn't a bad choice at all. Watch what you eat because you'll be on the road right after.

Pea soup is a must. Get it loaded if you have the time, otherwise a couple of cans to go should suffice. It's a sit-down kind of place with laminated menus. Service is about what you would expect.

Grab a couple of cans to-go on your way out! :-) [Kicking myself....] For as long as I lived in San Diego, I never did visit the iconic Pea Soup Andersen's Restaurant in Carlsbad, CA. Wahhhh!! Then, the original location in Buellton, CA (near Solvang) announced it's sale in January 2024 with plans to tear down and redevelop. It is unknown if Pea Soup Andersen's will make it's comeback. But, to my surprise PEA SOUP ANDERSEN's still has a location off of I-5 in Santa Nella, south of Stockton!!!! We woke up early to visit our grandfather at the nearby, beautiful San Joaquin National Cemetery, and enroute my brother pointed out Pea Soup Andersen's! We crossed our fingers they'd be open for breakfast, and to our delight THEY WERE OPEN!!! The cutest gift shop greets you at the door. Find the two cartoon chefs, HAP-PEA and PEA-WEE, who were designed by a Disney-trained artist Milt Neil. A hostess will seat you. ORDER THE PEA SOUP!! Our server, Gabriela, was so nice. She provided the best customer service. The four of us decided on the Andersen's Traveler Breakfast Special, which is a choice of the Andersen's split pea soup or fruit, plus two eggs, your choice of bacon, sausage, or ham. Served with AYCE hotcakes, whipped butter and maple syrup. The pea soup STOLE THE SHOW. But the meal was still good and comforting. What a wonderful pea soup recipe. Truly flavorful and aromatic; don't mind the green color. Haha! I immediately wanted more and was thrilled to see that we could purchase the canned soup or the split peas bag with a recipe to make at home. The ambiance reminds me of Solvang, CA. Charming, comfy, and inviting. Afterall, the original owners were from Denmark and France. Plenty of photo opps, especially with the iconic windmill and welcome sign. I would love to revisit when in the area again. If you're on a road trip on the I-5, make it a point to stop by!!

If you happen to be in the area, this is a is must stop roadside attraction at least once in your lifetime. It's located in Santa Nella right off Interstate5. The building is designed in a traditional Danish style architecture with a functioning windmill that stands roughly 77 feet tall. Back in 1976, when they first opened, it was the first of its kind. Currently, there is a restaurant, bakery, bar, and gift shop. Their signature dish is the namesake -split pea soup. It's vegetarian. They even have an AYCE split pea soup offer for about $17 that comes with bread rolls and choice of drink that includes a milkshake option. There is even a breakfast AYCE option of pancakes. The restaurant menu offers breakfast and lunch/dinner entrees. The bakery is a hit or miss. The past times I've dropped in over the years, most of my selections were hard and stale. The cookies are more on the hard crisp than soft moist. The best bet for consistency are the Danish pastries. The gift shop is fun. It has loads of kitschy gift items, snacks, and branded merchandise. They sell bags of the split pea soup contents with the recipe & cooking instructions. If actual cooking ain't your thing, pick up a can of the classic soup. The bathrooms were built to accommodate a large amount of travelers. They encourage folks to come on in to use the restrooms with no pressure to be a customer.

I've been passing by Pea Soup Andersons for years and have never stepped foot inside until today. This is a huge building with bar, banquet rooms, giant gift shop, bakery, restaurant and huge dining room. I ordered three items: Fried Chicken: this was my least favorite dish. It was not very crispy and lacked seasoning. It was ok and the good mashed potatoes helped but for the price, it's not that great. Monte Cristo: this item is delicious. Savory, cheesy, buttery, with a little raspberry preserves to sweeten it. But it was so good I barely used the raspberry. Awesome sandwich. Pea Soup: I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the pea soup. Starchy, comforting, and tasty soup. I had two bowls. Worth eating and even buying a couple cans to take home. Service was spotty but friendly. It was ok. Would I go back to Andersons? Yes. Yes I would.

I love this restaurant. I will always love this restaurant. It is the perfect break on a long journey. Plenty of parking, restrooms, and tables. The waitstaff squeezed in our order, in spite of a table of 12. I appreciate that so much! Cutest kitsch decoration, though the bathroom could use some updating. My husband hates peas, but he loves their soup. It's really delish.

I have been to the other location about 8 years ago and loved it. So when I saw the billboard for this I knew we had to stop. I'm a huge fan of the quirky roadside attractions and good old' mom and pop greasy spoons. The inside is kind of stuck in the 70's/80's, but I personally love that and think it adds to the charm. The service was quick and friendly. Hubby got the turkey dinner which he really enjoyed. I got the pea soup with half a chicken salad sandwich on wheat, toasted. The soup hit the spot. Perfect comfort food. The chicken salad was good too. Great texture and flavor. We picked up a few things from the bakery for the next morning and those were delicious as well. Whether this location, or the other, I'll always make it a stop.

Pea Soup Andersen's is our go-to spot for meals during road trips between Northern and Southern California. Conveniently located in Santa Nella immediately off of I-5. On this trip, for late breakfast, we had the California Omelette with an added side cup of split pea soup and the Anderson's Traveler's Breakfast Special. The California Omelette is an omelette loaded with avocado, crisp bacon, cheddar and jack cheeses, and sour cream and salsa. Andersen's Traveler's Breakfast Special is a choice of Andersen's famous split pea soup or fresh seasonal fruit or fruit juice, plus two eggs and your choice of bacon, country style sausage patty or ham. Served with all you can eat hotcakes, whipped butter and warm apricot or maple syrup. Also included is a choice of coffee, tea or milk. We both loved our breakfasts. The split pea soup is always good and we normally have a side bowl in addition to our main entree. Service was friendly and quick. Portions were generous. Perfect when you are in the middle of a long road trip and eager to continue on with your voyage after a quick stop for food. They serve lunches and dinners in addition to all day breakfasts. I highly recommend Pea Soup Andersen's and I expect to be there during my next long No Cal to So Cal road trip.

I want to personally think Armando the manager on duty for trying to helping my special-needs son enter the restaurant. My son has a problem getting into restaurants, but Armando did everything that he could to get my son in. Thank you, Armando for being such a great and understanding Manager.

This is a nice place to visit when you're heading to I-5 S by 33 E. If you are a vegetarian you have to try their pea soup. They are famous for it. This place has a quiet vibe, huge parking space. And the good thing on this place is the nice dining experience sit-in with someone. It's good too for groups too. Just stop by in here, it's a good vibes of home away from home.

Haven't been back for sometime and after all these years, it's still meets my personal tastes. Soup was very tasty. Staff was as nice as always and I left with a satisfied customer smile. Ambiance is still excellent and clean souvenirs in the shop. Tesla chargers available. Plenty of parking and minutes off the freeway. Good experience overall.

Aaaah, Andersen's Pea Soup, I have eaten their delicious pea soup for over 30 years, first at the Buellton location and now Santa Nella. This is a California institution for sure. I recently introduced my buddy, a lifelong san franciscan to andersen's soup & salad combo on the drive back from LA & he loved it! He bought 2 large soup to take home & later bought the canned version at his nearby Safeway.

The service is great. The split pea soup was just ok. It seems overhyped. I still had 2 bowls though.The chocolate milkshake was amazing. The potato rolls were delicious and their butter is amazing. The ambience is nice. They have a cool gift shop as well.

I've always wanted to try out this place, but I've never been able to until now. It's a cute place with, I think, Dutch decorations? So the pea soup, was it good? Yeah it was good, but it's not something I would go put of the way for. It was mediocre at best, that's why I give it 3 stars. But really, with any review, you need to try the place out for yourself. It was Memorial Day when I went, so it was busy, but the staff are nice. Would I go back? Yeah, maybe if I'm heading down to LA or coming back.

I have been wanting to come here for years and finally got the chance. There is a large parking lot for free parking. The business has been running since 1924. The building is dated in a nostalgic way with a Bavarian theme . They seated us quickly and they were busy with lots of travelers stopping for lunch. I got the soup and salad. The soup is really good even without the meat, not super thick but not overly watery either. The salad was good, crisp lettuce and good dressing. The service was a bit slow but once our order was placed the food came out quick. My uncle enjoyed his vanilla milkshake. I would come back for soup for sure.

I have always passed this place since I was little and now I can mark it off of my bucket list. I ordered the Danish Style Meatloaf and it was actually good. Mash and gravy was good and the mixed veggies was cooked perfectly. Not mushy or very crunchy. If you like peas, then try the soup. If not, I don't recommend it. If you're just visiting California or passing through, this old iconic place is worth stopping at.

I've stopped here a couple times traveling to Northern California but I've never had any interest in trying the pea soup. I'm not a fan of peas. Being an adventurous eater I decided to finally give it a shot. I got to Andersen's close to closing and got a small cup of soup to go. I also ordered some of their pastries. The pastries were so good!!! I got a cone shaped pastry filled with custard and dipped in chocolate. I also got a chocolate croissant pastry. Great late night road trip snack with some coffee. Although be warned, they pastries are so flaky that you will likely make a mess if you eat in the car! The restaurant itself has plenty of seating for their restaurant. All the pastries are on display in a glass case by the register. They also has random trinkets for sale. I had trouble walking away without buying anything. Lastly, the pea soup was phenomenal and I'm disappointed in myself for never having tried it before. It reminded me of a blended lentil soup. I wish I would have bought more to take home with me! The soup was quite flavorful and would pair well with some bread or crackers. I will definitely be stopping by again. Next time I visit, I'll dine in and see what else they have on the menu!

Like most people my family has passed by this restaurant a million times and usually we have the dogs and kids or it's the middle of the night so we don't get off. This time it was just my husband and I right at lunch so we stopped to check in out. The outside of the restaurant is unique and clean as is the inside. I will say it could use a little elbow grease and some more cushion in the seats but all in all it goes well with the kitschy vibes that they are going for. I loved the shopping area... so many unique things, postcards, birthday cards, even Christmas stuff in April. I love it! Service was great. We were cheerfully greeted when we entered, seated quickly without being pressured to order right away. My husband got "The Rich Boy" and of course a bowl of signature pea soup. I got the pea soup as well as the add ins for 5$. Let's start with the soup, creamy and delicious, not overly salty and the add ins were enough to make it a meal(add ins come in small containers but was enough for both bowls). They will bring you a basket of crackers and pads of butter. I recommend putting 1/2 a pad directly into the hot soup and lightly buttering your crackers as well. Now the sandwich, it came piled high with hot fries and a delicious crispy pickle. Honestly we were full after the soup and fries so we took the sandwich home and shared it with some fruit for dinner. It was delicious. They have a huge variety of baked goods and special food items for sale. We purchased a few including a giant smashed cinnamon roll thing that was terribly addictive that night and would have gone great with coffee or tea in the morning....if only it had made it that long :) We really enjoyed it here and may bring the kids next time lol. I stopped here recently during a work trip and it was a good experience. As far as I know, this might be the last Pea Soup Andersen's left since the one in Buellton closed. That being said, it's a cute restaurant with novel decor and decent food. The best thing about this restaurant was the staff. They were so friendly and helpful. The server cracked jokes and made our group feel at home. The food was pretty standard. I had the sirloin steak, which was cooked well and had good flavor but it wasn't anything special. The gift shop and bakery were like a little trip to Solvang, which was really cool. I bought some knickknacks for my family and some cookies as well. Overall, I had a good experience and I think it warrants a visit if you're in the area!

This is an iconic diner to make a stop as a traveler on I-5 for a filling meal. It is best known for its famous brand of split pea soup. On this stop in February, I ordered the chicken salad. It was huge and filling. Service is always friendly. Besides being a place to eat, there are souvenir and gift items plus bakery items and tubs of Danish cookies to purchase.

My friends and I came to Pea Soup Andersen's expecting a fun dinner experience, but we were shocked by a racist remark made by our server Kelly. When my friend ordered a salad with Caesar dressing, the server commented, "Oh of course you would like that. I know you Asians can eat anything," referring to the anchovies in the dressing. That kind of comment is completely inappropriate and offensive. No guest should have to experience racial stereotyping from staff. We left feeling very uncomfortable and disappointed. I hope management provides proper training and takes this seriously so that all customers are treated with respect.

This place is hard to miss, you'll see this giant building with attached mill from the highway in Santa Nella. It is such a cute restaurant! It's large inside and goes with the outside theme. The service is super speed here. We sat immediately, put in our order within ten minutes, and got the food in less than ten minutes after placing. They sell a lot of merchandise inside, along with the bakery, and restaurant. The bathrooms are huge and clean, I loved that. As for the food, we ordered a main dish and pea soup with those. I am not a fan of pea soup but it was surprisingly good. It was so good that I got a bag of their recipe packs to make at home. It's a great place to stop off at if you're passing through.

Every time I drive up north, I ALWAYS stop by Pea Soup. I love their soup, but I also love the store. To expand on my original review, the food is great, service is great - they are always friendly and the decor is on point. However, you can tell that this place has been here forever. The booth seats are lumpy and some things are falling apart. Part of the restaurant is a big gift store where you can buy random figurines to stuffed plushies and Pea Soup products (mugs, soup bowls, canned soup, homemade jellies, honey). The front counter also sells bake goods. They have an actual bar area in the back (by the restrooms) so it's hidden, but they serve alcohol and food. There's also an outside patio for smoking, but I've never seen smokers there and I usually sit there when I have my dog with me. Recently they installed Tesla chargers in the back, probably in hopes of attracting more business and I hope it does because I don't want them to close! They had to close their other location near Santa Barbara. They also have a motel onsite. I've never stayed there but saw that they have installed solar panels to the roof. Anyhoo, it's definitely a great place to stop by for a break.
