The 14 Best Bars In Baltimore - Baltimore - The Infatuation

"While the city has more than its fair share of craft breweries, none of them scream Baltimore pride quite like Peabody Heights in Waverly. The brewery is even located at the literal site of one (of several) former Orioles baseball stadiums. Despite the players memorialized on the walls, the vibe inside is decidedly not sports-bar-esque. Peabody is known for its inclusive atmosphere and constant stream of events, including hosting Beer and Ballet, Bmore Flea, Baltimore Record Bazaar, and Queer Made Market. Beers range from IPAs to sours and seltzers. The brewery also has a retro arcade room, The Dugout, where a day-use entry fee grants you unlimited plays on nearly 50 new and vintage games, including pinball." - michele berry

My boyfriend and I visited Peabody Heights Brewery for the first time and had a great time. We loved the variety of beer on tap (cherry basil and grape gatorade) and the food truck on site was delicious. We couldn't leave without playing a few of the vintage pinball machines. Definitely recommend this brewery!

Google
Great beer great times! They have a great mix of spaces where they have a traditional tasting room, outside beer garden, pinball room, and best of all huge arcade room! They have pay and play with old school and new cabinets. this is a welcoming place that has a space for everyone.

Google
My favorite brewery / place to hang out in the city! Great beer, great vibes, wonderful staff! I love how much of a community space it is – Peabody really supports and elevates other Baltimore small businesses and makers. There are fun events, live music, and of course, the arcade games! You can bring your own food or games/activities, and my dog loves that she gets to come (and gets a treat at the bar)! I also love the outside space in the warmer months. There is always something for everyone. It is a perfect spot for everything from birthday celebrations to a casual happy hour. So grateful to have such a fun and reliably fun spot in the neighborhood. <3

Google
They have a great variation on tap and everything tastes great. My partner is a big fan of their seltzers as well. The arcade in the back is a favorite spot to spend a chill afternoon and their events calendar is always packed with some of my favorite events in the city. Been a longtime supporter and lover of this place and really appreciate the way they engage with the community.

Google
Excellent brewery. Something for everyone. Beers, seltzers, food truck, pinball, and an excellent arcade. Favorite spot in Baltimore. I drive here from DC on the reg, it's so worth it. I only wish they were open longer.

Google
Such a vibe. Came when they had MagLabs visiting and it was soo fun. Beer, Live Music, Crafts, and food trucks all in the same place. Parking was surprisingly easy as well.

Google
You can really find your community here. Peabody offers such a wide range of events like: book festivals, trivia, plant or clothing swaps, record bazaars, live music. We once watched a Shakespeare play on the back patio. We’ve met and made so many friends here that we run into someone we know every time we visit. Kid friendly. Can order in or bring in your own food. Arcades, a free room and a payment required room. Their West Coast IPAs are my personal favorite. The location is fantastic, right in Charles Village, free parking, or plenty of street parking availability. The employees and owners are always wonderful and friendly.

Baltimore Lauren

Google
One of the best breweries in Baltimore. They host a number of events for the community through the week — plus they have ample pinball and arcade machines! I appreciate the staff and the general vibe of this place. If you like good beer, you’ll like Peabody.

Yelp
This was a great spot for a professional event, and they had a great selection of beers too. But my favorite part of the visit was the old baseball cards for sale from the 80s and 90s. I bought a few packs and gave them to my dad. As he opened them, he could tell me a random fact or stat for every single player. They were all players from when he was growing up, which he considers the golden era of baseball. He was really excited to brag to his brothers that he had these "new" old baseball cards. This was a really nice connection that I got to make with my dad. Anyway, I think this is a really good example of how businesses don't exist just to turn a profit, they also exist to uplift the community and its members.

Yelp
The brewery looks awesome and they had a fun vinyl event but we were there to check out the arcade. Totally not worth it! More than 50% of games didn't work. $15 each for three people. Walk around and decide if it's worth it before you pay and play. It also stinks like a brewery. Not sure that it's kid friendly. Not worth the hour drive and the $$. Check out the brewery or the market but don't come for the arcade. You will be disappointed.

Yelp
This is the kind of Urban Brewery location I prefer: minimal effort that is naturally Baltimore Kitsch. Nothing too fancy or artificial, just a cool space to drink good beers with your friends. The beer is good, the mood an excellent, and the food from the little Ramen stand was delicious!

Yelp
Great way to start off Pride month. Enjoyed a fabulous drag brunch and tasty beer while celebrating a friend's birthday. The beertenders were fantastic! The flight was delicioso! I love how PBH celebrates Baltimore with unique local brews. Charming brewery in a cool neighborhood. Great service!

Yelp
I've been to this brewery a few times since moving here last month. The people working here are super friendly. There's a large seating area inside and they also have outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. Each time I've been here, they have had food trucks or pop ups. There is a room full of pinball machines and also an arcade room. They also have a room for events. We happened to be here one evening when they had a local market and drag show which was fun! As far as the beers, there is a good selection mixture of styles and I've enjoyed all of the ones I've tried! Overall, it's a great brewery and fun place to relax.

Yelp
I've got to be honest: I was expecting better. The beer just isn't anything even remotely special, and I tried a lot of different varieties. Some kind of Belgian, a fruity Brambles and something beer, an American light beer that I asked to sample and they brought me a whole 16 oz glass without request. I was able to return it and get it taken off my tab, and replaced it with a second Unforgivable Curses, which is okay. I tried a couple more beers that didn't blow me away first. Look, I have to compare this to Brewers Art, where I was happy with every beer I've had - as well as an experience at a different brewery I encountered in Atlanta. It's just...not on the same level. Not close. The service is okay but the table is sticky, and the beers are just not stellar. They're fine. They're just fine. I could get just fine from a corner store, for less. I don't mean to seem like a snob about this but the gap between Peabody here and other options is substantial. It's not bad. It's just...just beer.

Yelp
Had the most fun here! Came here for the first time for my brother's birthday and man we had a ball. It's def a vibe and the good reviews are well earned. It's a perfect spot for many kinds of interests. They are family friendly (you can bring kids!) and LGBTQIA+ allies so you can expect things like drag brunches in their programs. They have live music and other events during the week like even a chess club. They specialize in beers with a lot of options so you can hang out at the bar if you like. And of course the main reason we came was for the arcade! The arcade is $12 entry during the week and $15 on weekends (Fri-Sun). You can call them but sometimes they don't pickup so be aware of that. They have a small free parking lot and street parking nearby. There is an outdoor space for the live music from local bands and they have food from a food truck. The arcade was so much fun!! they have a whole room for pinball that is pay per play with coins but they have a cash to coin machine on site. I only took off one star for food because it was pretty bland. Cooked through but no seasoning on the chicken burger or the bibimbap/fries I ordered for $21. The pork belly my brother got was good so I would recommend getting that. Overall it was a great experience and I would happily come again.

Yelp
This is my second time at Peabody Heights Brewery, and I cannot wait for a third time, and more! The first time at Peabody, I attended 2023 Yelp Awards and their game room was opened that day in particular, and is a great addition to the establishment! The second time as Peabody, I attended a drag SLAYmas brunch and had the besssst time with my mom! I don't think Peabody has an in house kitchen, so it's typical local businesses that'll partner with Peabody and serve at the customers payment (Ekiben the first time, and Nana's the second - both delicious). My mom and I ordered a flight during the drag brunch (including H8erade, Old Oriole Park Bohemian, Mount Claire, and Pineapple Upside Down Astrodino), and thoroughly enjoyed most, with H8erade being a fan (or house) favorite! I love Peabody on a cold day, and can only imagine the outside dining being used during warmer months! I'll have to note Peabody in 2025 as a place to go during the summer!

Yelp
Peabody Heights Brewing is a huge venue and it has areas. There is the taproom, an arcade, a place where gamers hang out, and an outside area as well. On my visit there was a food truck with Indian food that was awfully good. The place is old Oriole baseball themed. In my opinion, it is well thought out, because there are pockets of coolness everywhere. If coolness even is a word? To order beer you have to go up to the bar and there is no bar seating. It is both family friendly and fur baby friendly. Dogs are welcome here. The BEER: Speed Gal fruited Gose 4.4% ABV... I got ginger and some kind of fruit, very light, slightly sour, but did not get much sea salt like a typical gose. This would be good for those who crave Seltzers. Triple dry hopped Astrodan NEIPA 7% ABV... so much fruit forward in the nose and on the pallet... this is absolutely delish The Night Razzler Belgian dark ale 5.3% ABV... I got licorice on the first sip, and I frowned. Did not love this, but didn't hate it either. Raisin and pepper, didn't love it, didn't hate it either. *Awight* Unforgiveable Curses Belgian Tripel 9% ABV... prrrrr...fection!!!!! This is a super star. Fire!!! Old Oriole Park Bohemian Lager 4 5% ABV... smooth, clean, all day crushable Lager and very low in IBUs. This is a perfectly balanced light lager Grain Birds barley wine 11.5% ABV... WOW and WOW. This Barleywine is not as boozy as I expected. And in general, the beer here is so very good. Trashbuster porter 6.2% ABV... malty chocolate goodness and not too much acid like subtle coffee porters. I am very impressed by how crushable this porter is. So far, my brewecation in Baltimore has yielded a gem of a brewery here at Peabody Heights Brewery. Shout out to Katlyn from Peter Pourhouse for recommending this place. PEABODY is EXCEPTIONAL. PEABODY HEIGHTS BREWING is in a schetchy area of Baltimore, but if you need a family friendly, safe environment to experience exceptional craft beer, this is the place. What a wonderful place for fantastic craft beer.

Yelp
Always the best beers! Also a great spot to just hang out and meet people, listen to music, try some new food. Always a good time here. The folks who work here are really nice too.

Yelp
I cant believe i havent reviewed Peabody yet! I love this place because they have a variety of beers I like and they program the space well! Ive been here for private birthday parties, for markets or just to have a drink and each time it was a great experience. I also love the addition of the arcade in the back, it has games ive never heard of but are fun to try. As far as the beer goes i feel like this is subjective. I am a light, crisp, clean kind of beer girl and they always have a good pilsner or lager that gets the job done for me. I also like peabody because they have fun seltzers for my non beer drinking friends so no one feels left out.

Yelp
Peabody has a wide assortment of beers for almost any palate. The bartenders are fast and kind in serving beers. They do have a flight option as well. I really enjoyed the H8terade, which was sweet and tangy, almost like a cider. I am not even a big fan of grape-flavored anything, but this beer is defintently worth the try. They do serve bar snakc, like chips. The night I went, they had a taco truck out back. They are also dog-friendly! The atmosphere was spacious, with plenty of seating. They have a bacl room full of different pinball machines, as well as an arcade space. Be sure to check out their social media as they host a variety of different events, including a chess club on Mondays.

Yelp
First time visiting this brewery today! Came in for a drag brunch! The place was very spacious. The layout overall was nice as I didn't expect there to be so much room. The staff were friendly and pointed me in the direction of what I was looking as far as drink options! There was a parking lot to the right of the facility and also plenty of street parking! Would definitely return!

Yelp
THANK YOU to the Peabody Heights Brewery for hosting the Baltimore YELP Chapter Awards & Christmas party. Had a great time and sampled several of the bier choices. If I lived in Baltimore this would be a great place to unwind and socialize with friends at the end of a work day.

Yelp
LOVE the Dugout! $12-15 unlimited play and it's own bar... a great way to spend a few hours! Plus everyone is amazing at PHB and they do a ton of activities to support and bring comminuted together

Yelp
When we visited Maryland, we initially came here to experience a piece of Baltimore's history and maybe to grab a beer or two. We were warmly greeted, had a great conversation, and learned so much about the Baltimore Orioles and Terrapins. This place oozes history and charm. We tried their IPAs, kombucha, ciders, and sours because of the wide variety of tap selections they had. They are pet-friendly and have indoor and outdoor seating, and after our mini tour and playing arcades, we sat outside to enjoy the live music. There were also food trucks outside, a lot of space for parking and just looking around everyone was having a great time.

Yelp
Dope brewery. The Ube Arcana is my favorite, I wish they would package it and sell it!!! The staff are always super friendly. Love going to Bmore Flea here on Sundays as well. Very cute and vibey inside too.

Yelp
I've had and bought Peabody Heights beers for years, but it took me three years of living in Baltimore to make it to the brewery! But I finally visited for a friend's birthday a month or so ago. The bartenders were really nice, but the brewery was just soooo loud that they couldn't hear my little baby voice at all. It was that loud because they have ... video game competitions? I don't know, but it seemed like a lot of people were there competing at some sort of video game thing shown on a large projector screen. It's large, but loud and hot and crowded - and dogs and children and large groups and birthday parties everywhere. And wow do I sound old. But it just wasn't a chill place to enjoy a few beers. I'm sure I'll be there again soon for a party or on a friend's invite, and I'll just try to channel my younger self. But it's not a place I'd choose to hang out with my old grumpy self.

Yelp
the short - everything you could really want when you think of a brewery experience. They have a great tap selection with tons of variety (IPAs, kombucha, ciders, sours, and more) and they have fun events here ALL the time. What they're doing is great and you should totally check them out. the details Located in a corner of Baltimore, the ambiance of Peabody Heights offers the "brewery" experience done really well. They have tons of drink options, regularly scheduled food trucks, and events either every day or close to every day. The staff is so kind + friendly, the venue is LGBTQ-friendly, there's indoor and outdoor seating available, and is pet-friendly. I think what really sets Peabody Heights apart from most breweries are the events that they host. They have events ranging from drag brunches to plant swaps to trivia nights and try to make everyone feel welcome. I would connect to their social media to stay in the loop for any future happenings if you haven't already. PHB is a great spot to check out if you haven't already. I would recommend visiting one of their events - they're fun!

Yelp
Very funky little brewery that my friends took me too! I'm a sour drinker and got the H8erade and it really tasted like a purple Gatorade. They had some little market going on inside that seemed to fit the vibe of the place. The guy that originally served me was very upbeat, but then I talked to a girl about getting some tasting glasses and she seemed a little irritated when I asked her for those and some stickers. There were dogs inside, however I'm not sure if they allow them all the time. They also had a food truck outside as well. It seemed like a great place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon. I'm sure it's very fun to hangout here in the summer!
google avatar

Yelp
I hate parking in Baltimore but it was pretty easy and free to park in the road. I love anime and games so the games for $15 all you can play was so worth it! If you like rythmn games from Japan this is your wonderland! Definitely is a must go for people who love rythmn games.
google avatar

Yelp
Huge brewery! Half beers and beers. Fun names and the lagers were terrific. I went for the taste of the 14th district so there was amazing food which I'm not sure is always an option. Lots of on street parking. I grabbed a spot about 10 blocks away which I didn't need to do. Great spot for events, music and more.
google avatar

Ahra J.

Yelp
I recently visited PHB again and it was better than the last visit! They added an entire arcade area which is awesome because it adds another layer of activities you can do while you are there. Despite the location of the brewery, they do provide a large parking area so you do not have to worry about walking far. With the nice weather, they also have an outdoor area that you can sit in and the weekend I went, they also offered a small "kitchen" by the main entrance. I am unsure if the same vendor is there all week but something you could call and ask if you're interested in food. Otherwise, I am not aware of any other food options. The space is huge and can cater a large crowd. They also offer cans you can purchase and take home! They have a pretty extensive menu of drinks you can choose from. My favorite from my last visit were the selection of "gatorade" flavored drinks. It was the perfect pair to sip on a sunny day! I personally adore the Baltimore themed decor as well as I am a huge Baltimore/MD fan! Give this place a try!!

Yelp
Nice venue. Extremely fam friendly. Good brews. Game room. Many free games. Iffy parking. Friendly staff..

Yelp
If you're a beer drinker and love those old school arcade games, this is the spot to be in. I visited to support a friend's participation in karaoke night. Yea, Tuesdays a few times out the year there are team karaoke competitions. It was a wild experience lol. There's plenty of seating in the various parts of the hall AND two bars. Sit in the main hall with all the action or head to the back and sit in one of the game rooms. Play for the games in the back is approximately $12 but you can play all you want. The pinball machines in the front are coin operated and the have a change machine in case you forget to break your coin jar open. We've not been drinking so we were able to grab a couple of Boylan sodas from the bar. The staff seems pretty nice and clearly they have regulars whom they are more familiar with. It shows based on the interactions everyone was having. Great spot to visit. They don't have food so come with your own. Have to balance the buzz and burgers.
google avatar

Aaron A.

Yelp
Great vibes, always a good brew selection, great place to take a group of friends to relax

Bianca S.

Yelp
Great place good people. The venue is perfect for meet up and date night. They have live music nights all summer
google avatar

Nairobi C.

Yelp
They allow us to take up space and hold our readings there free of charge. That is huge for a small business. The vibe is great and the prices are still within reason considering the gouging going on everywhere else. Great local joint and meetup spot.
google avatar

Ravon H.

Yelp
I was in the area for an event but seeing early so I figured I would come to Peabody Heights to kill some time. I found some street parking right by the front door so that was convenient. When I came in there were two people ordering at the bar so I didn't have to wait long. They had the O's game playing so I had something to watch. After I ordered my Corsica from the friendly bar tender I took a seat at one of the tall tables.sun area was empty but there was something going on PJs off that HS everyone's attention. I went into the game room to enjoy some of the free video games. Some of the pinball machines weren't working so hopefully they are repaired soon. Guess drunk people and pinball don't mix lol. They don't have food on site but there was a food truck in the lot when I went. I only stuck around long enough ti have one drink but I enjoyed myself for the short time I was there's

Yelp
The beer is fresh and tasty and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming to everyone. It is a true neighborhood gem.

Yelp
The space is pretty cool. The service is pretty good. The beer is very Meh. Your cousin's home brew is better. Overpriced as well. Decent parking though.

Yelp
Love the mozzarella sticks! Efficient service and just a beautiful historic renovation.

Amy R.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to go for sure! Best beer in town. If you get lucky you might see their brewery cat, Jeppson!

Yelp
Peabody is a little out of the way for us but it was definitely worth it. The beer was awesome, the staff was super nice, and the drag show was so fun. There were so many different beers on tap. We loved the variety and everything we tried was delicious. I loved that the menu had tasting notes so i could decide which ones to try. They didn't do flights during events but they did let us do half pours which worked out well. They had a nice indoor and outdoor space. It might have been because it was during a drag show, but the environment felt really inclusive and I see they have more queer events as well, which is always a plus. Thanks for a fun Saturday Peabody!
google avatar

Ken Y.

Yelp
I recently found about this brewery through a posting at Zeke's. What a space! On my first visit, I checked out a record bazaar, where folks perused crates and crates of vinyl, while listening to a live DJ spin some really good house music. My second visit was on a beautiful warm Sunday where DJs spun in indoor and outdoor spaces. What's cool is that this space accommodates a variety of community events from bazaars to crafting. Speaking of crafts, that's what brings us here! PBB offers a variety of adult beverages on tap and canned, so there's something for every beer aficionado.
google avatar

Grace B.

Yelp
Went for the queer art market and it was INCREDIBLE! such a huge space with all kinds of seating, tons of beers and ciders and very personable staff! the market aspect had maybe 2 dozen queer vendors of all different types of artists and I loved walked around their space both in and outside! seems like they regularly host events that are queer, bipoc, and/or socialist forward! what an amazing find while on a quick trip to baltimore to dc! a must visit!

Alicia W.

Yelp
Peabody is such an incredible community institution!! They always lookout for those who need the most in our community regardless of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, or citizenship. I personally have found my chosen family at this place bc it's such an intentionally welcoming place where people feel safe. People like me who certain political leaders would rather ignore and pretend I don't exist. There are very few places LGBTQ BIPOC people can casually become regulars at and host events at without having to worry about being harassed or mocked. Peabody is a gem!!

Bernadette E.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere, fantastic events, innovative beers! An excellent gathering place with a welcoming staff!

Elias E.

Yelp
Always great beer here! Bartender Aidan is an excellent server and the vibes are always on point.

Lorena E.

Yelp
Love Peabody!! Used to live a few streets down and the atmosphere was great!! Amazing beers and great people, plus they've hosted some fun events!!

Julia R.

Yelp
Peabody is great - just easy and fun to be at, with an arcade section, a bunch of different rooms with big and small tables - fun for groups, fun for just a few people, nice to just stop in after your day. A go-to.

Sarah F.

Yelp
I'm new to Baltimore & went to Peabody during the summer when a friend came to visit with her family. The kids loved the arcade area and we loved the drinks. I really enjoyed the laid back vibe & knowledge of the staff (I do not like hoppy beers & the staff were able to recommend something I liked, sorry I don't remember what it was now!). I will definitely be back in the future as it's also in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Baltimore. Highly recommend.

Chris G.

Yelp
One of if not the best brewery in the city! Friendly staff, great beer and an awesome arcade room with lots of rhythm games!

V S.

Yelp
Great local brewery. They're very engaged with the community. They also have a pretty sweet arcade.

J F.

Yelp
A community staple. Kind, inclusive, with a nightly events from karaoke, the science gong show, open mic standup, community meetings, record and book sales. The arcade is fantastic. MAGA hates it because we kicked out their burger guy. What's not to love?

Beth W.

Yelp
Love to support local artisan brewery! Great staff! Everyone is welcome and treated with respect

Yelp
This continues to be one of the best breweries in the city. Today I bike up to Peabody from SoBo. We got there a little early, but the staff were kind enough to let us hang out on their patio until they opened. When the bar opened my friend and I each got a pint to enjoy outside (although indoor seating is allowed). Overall I was impressed by their covid safety. There was hand sanitizer available and everyone wore masks. Disposable drinks are was provided and tables were sanitized. While I didn't get any beer to-go on this visit. Their canned offerings are among the best in the city. We have all grown used to $16, $18, even $20+ 4-packs, and occasionally you will see very premium offerings like that at Peabody, but overall their beer is beyond reasonable. Don't get me wrong, the beer is easily as good as the beer you are paying $16 a 4-pack, but instead they are selling it for $10-12 for a 6-pack of 12oz cans. Finally, I think my favorite thing about Peabody is the vide. People are Friendly. They will chat with you, they are likable... it just feels like so much more of a part of the community than a place like Diamondback.

Yelp
We discovered Peabody Heights Brewery at the Asia Collective Market. Prior to arriving, we checked their website and it stated that Juiced: Orange Cream Popsicle Fruited Sour, Cool Waters: Blueberry Peach Kulfi Fruited Sour, and H8erade - Grape Sour was available. When we arrived, that was not the case. I sampled the Water: Hibiscus, Cherry, Lime Hard Seltzer and Boom Meringue Fruited Sour but wasn't a fan of either. I wanted to purchase a 6-pack variety of IPAs but was told they only do it during the holidays. This brewery has a nice arcade and dog-friendly patio. It was nice that they had their own parking lot but some car parked right behind our pickup truck and we had to do a 20-point turn to get out of the lot.

Yelp
Yesterday was my first time visiting this brewery. They have a fairly extensive list of draft beers you can order in a variety of sizes, starting at 5oz to growlers and in some cases you can buy the beers in cans. They have a cute tray that houses four 5oz glasses in a flight, but you could just order all the beer there in that size at the same time, making for a super flight. I went with the regular flight and quite enjoyed 3 out of the 4. I also sampled some of my friend's beer that I didn't have in my flight and that was good too! I'm definitely a fan of Peabody brews. That said, the place is a dive. There is no food onsite and it's very close to some sketchy areas so it's not like walking to get a bite and bring it back is really an option. Worst of all, there were children EVERYWHERE! I do not like kids in bars and breweries, a lot of times they have no chill and are very distracting when I'm trying to get my drink on. Overall good beer, iffy environment.
