Peaches Records Plans Revival of Historic Woolworth’s Counter | Eater New Orleans

"I've long seen Peaches Records as a treasured, decades-long destination for New Orleans music lovers; after moving from the French Quarter to 4318 Magazine Street in 2016, the Magazine Street record store now occupies a former F.W. Woolworth that contains a 1940 lunch counter the owners say was the site of the first sit-in inspired by the 1960 Greensboro Woolworth sit-ins, making it a significant civil-rights landmark. At a June 3 neighborhood meeting the owners outlined plans to seek conditional-use approval to operate as a restaurant and serve alcoholic beverages, and Lee Rea clarified they plan to use the historic counter to host local chefs for pop-ups and fundraising events while honoring its history and "creating a space to strengthen community bonds;" any plan for a daily restaurant is projected three to five years out, and attendees at the meeting seemed supportive." - Clair Lorell

Peaches Records is a New Orleans must! It’s more than just a record store—it’s a cultural time capsule filled with music, art, and good energy. The vibe is all-inclusive and welcoming, with vintage décor and iconic artwork that make every visit memorable. A true New Orleans gem! With local music acts sharing their artistry. Check the facebook or instagram page for upcoming events.

Google
I thought I'd touch base with the last Peaches Location, though it should still be "Peaches Records and Tapes" 😂 ... I still have their record crates from the 80's But after several calls, no answer. And it just hangs up on you, even though you get a digital voice when you call with options. So, Yeah Naaa. ... bummer for the fans

Google
This store is overpriced. Most of their vinyl selection is priced at $49.99, regardless of its market value. Albums that can easily be purchased for $20 to $30 retail are 50% to 60% overpriced. I walked out without purchasing anything. Avoid.

JW S.

Google
Honestly for the space they have the selection was kinda thin and definitely, as other reviews have said, priced at a really hard to justify level. Stadium Arcadium is a benchmark for us and we saw our highest ever price for it at $200. Sealed or no that's... a hard sell. Clearly they make an effort to be part of the community fabric so points for that but those prices man...

Google
Really cool record store, old-school feel, owner told me they’ve been selling records for 50 years, 10 in this location. Good selection of new, eccentric music.

Google
Really cool place! They have all sorts of records in there, and its really cool exploring the different genres! I spent my time in the MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS section, and it was cool seeing the different VINYL and CD's available. Definitely recommend every record lover to check this place out!

Google
Walking in here and seeing all the vinyl records, tapes, and cds brought me back to my teenage years, going to the music stores after school and looking at all the different albums that where hot at the time. Peaches has a plethora of albums that I forgot about or once had, and the price points were reasonable, considering some of the items were over 50 years old and in immaculate condition.

Chase R.

Google
Have been here many times to buy records and they have a good selection but they have some big issues. We were walking around for 20 minutes then were randomly told they needed to take our bag we brought with us and put it behind the register area. We were the only people told to do so in a store where around half a dozen other people had their bags on their shoulders. The entire roughly 45 minutes we were here no one else was told to put their bags anywhere. Either they just assumed? we were stealing despite us not picking up a single thing or they have some rule that they are too lazy to fully enforce. Either way, for whatever reason, it was a stupid one.

Yelp
I love this record store. Every time I visit I'm taken back to simpler times. I'm a very sentimental and love indulging in nostalgia and I love perusing the aisles looking at all of the amazing albums, cds and awesome and fun merch they have here. Shirani, the owner, also known as Momma Peaches is such a delight. She's so welcoming and loves music. I love chatting with her every time I visit. Today I bought an original Beatles album and a Frankie Beverly album, along with some cute Peaches merch. The price was just right even though this was a bit of an unplanned splurge.

Yelp
The 70s Party at Peaches celebrated a vibrant atmosphere & fostered a sense of community. A special shout-out goes to Sa'Rah, Yelp, New Orleans, & Peaches Records. Happy birthday to Sharani Rae! The event showcased service of love & support among everyone who attended. I also made sure to purchase a few vintage records. The value that this establishment places on its community & customers is appreciated. A time was had with my Yelp family.

Yelp
Just the loveliest people and the loveliest of spaces. Best albums on full display, great music playing: Chaka Khan. Nola has my heart in music and making outsiders feel welcome like this place does. They asked to see pics of my grown children and asked for me to return with them? Music is my therapy and my drug. And......this was the sight of one of the first "sit ins" as it was a Woolworths(?) before complete with their untouched counter and stools. I sat in one of those stools before I knew the history and, as a white person, feel like I had no right too but what an honor it was. The stool knew I was a fighter too I think. They were having a free live act the night we were leaving which they invited us too. We were bummed to not be able to attend. Thank you for an incredible experience. XO, Colleen and Don from STL

Yelp
I found Peaches record store walking around Magazine st. We used to have Peaches stores in Seattle back when I was collecting records. It was nice to see this Retro Record shop in New Orleans. The bus stops are near by and the St. Charles St. Car is about 7-8 blks away walk. They have a Woolworth's Lunch Counter with the chairs in tact. But no Food Service. Ask the front desk if you can bring your own coffee in to sit there. The store had lots of CDs and Records on sale. They had small toys, T-shirts, and some artwork for sale. Ask if they have Live Music since there was a small stage in back of the store. You will need to check your backpack or large bags at the Door. Stop by and look around and it might bring back old memories back.

Yelp
A cavern of a place with lots of product. Scored a used Bert Kaempfert for $4.99 but don't really have the patience to flip through everything these days. Staff were friendly and helpful when questioned. There is a small stage area at the back for Live performances and a nice long bar for sodas. Happy hour on Fridays free beer and pizza.

Yelp
I have great memories of my father bringing my brother and I (when we were quite young) to the Peaches in Fort Lauderdale to get one vinyl record each... I even had a couple of those infamous wood crates with the well-known Peaches insignia and I even remember the times changing over to cassettes. Playing music from the Eagles, Bob Marley, Culture Club, Meatloaf and KISS are embedded as part of my youth bonding with dad... and then we grew up and Peaches eventually bankrupted and the Fort Lauderdale location became a HUSTLER store.... Fast forward to today and during a walk along Magazine Street, we came across a Peaches Record store.... I was... "mind-blown". It took me a moment to understand if this was related or associated to the Peaches of the times past. Turns out it's the last store since the Peaches chain bankrupt; the last one. I love the glass store front decor and to be welcomed by some of the owners/staff upon entering. The exterior walls and some aisles are loaded with all sorts of tchotchkes... from funky candles spoofing religious candles to cool keychains, recipe books to tote bags, the famous wood crates, must cassettes, stickers... there's even a Dashboard Jesus (like a bobble head for your car dash). Once upon a time, they had a functioning diner counter; which now look vintage and cool but it's covered with inventory, paintings and music equipment. There's an immense selection of t-shirts.... some classics rock back shirts, some shirts of some popular album covers and some straight up funny stuff. Of course the highlight of the Peaches store is the aisles loaded with vinyl records in blue racks and red accented walls... the offerings are impressive but INSANELY over-priced. I completely understand a rare, hard-to-find record may be priced with a premium but all the records were priced beyond acceptable prices (even the ones easily available). I was able to find a couple records (online while at the store) that are available at Target (who have a very limited offering) and the price here was shockingly higher (some were a lot more than just a couple bucks). If you have money to burn, and you're a fan of vinyl records, then you'll love the "last" Peaches Record store. Unfortunately for me, I would've loved nothing more than to support a local shop and go back to Florida with some great vinyl but my wallet refused to splurge. Love this store (despite the three stars)...

Yelp
We love going to this store on Magazine for fun gift ideas. My hubby lives to look for records and I look through all the fun things. There are magnets, kitchen stuff like potholders and coffee cups, neat keepsakes/souvenirs and plenty of gag gifts!! The owner is quite happy to have you shop her store!! They were to have live music and free pizza and beer later that evening and she made sure to invite our Krewe

Yelp
I'll start off by saying that everyone employed here is incredibly kind, so I have no complaints about my actual shopping experience. That being said... holy tourist trap, Batman. I am not unfamiliar with purchasing music. I have a record collection in the thousands and make a point to visit historical record stores whenever I travel. Compared to dozens of similar stores, the markup here is INSANE. The going price for a new, standard edition single LP is $70. Double LPs that go for $40-50 elsewhere sit at a cool $135. I understand that historical record stores come with a "name tax," but the prices here are laughably absurd. Easily 2-3x markup. I stopped in just before RSD and made note of several albums I was interested in- I found nearly all of them at my home record store (a similarly noteworthy institution on a touristy major city block) for $20-40. They have a small selection of interesting limited releases if you're willing to shell out $300+, but most of their stock is standard issue. Some interesting finds in the used section, but poorly organized and not priced well enough to make digging worth it. Their gift section is... fine? Some cute NOLA/music items but more akin to an airport Hallmark store than a spot for interesting memorabilia. Less rock & roll and more Taylor Swift. To sum it up- super disappointing. Capitalizing on a name and taking advantage of clueless tourists. Not a spot for music collectors.

Yelp
We stopped here after reading that this was theist Peaches Records. I had never been to one, and there was one close to home growing up. My boyfriend talked about how much he loved the place growing up. So, I was excited for us to go there on our most recent trip. It was sort of a letdown, he wanted to get a shirt to take home, and was disappointed in the selection/quality. I had no idea what to expect, he hoped to see peach crates all around, there wasn't. I thought it was neat that it was an old Woolworth's Store with the luncheonette counter from the 40s. Too bad there was stuff (canvases) blocking the view. All in all, I guess it depends on whether or not you have a nostalgic connection to Peaches Records or not. I thought it was a nice store, with cool history, I was more excited to see the luncheonette counter. My boyfriend was disappointed, which was sad.

Yelp
To my knowledge, this is the only and for sure largest record store in New Orleans and for anyone collecting vinyl it is a must visit Location there's a lot of unusual and strange selections available plus everything that's new. We got a kick ass solution of other odd gifts and T-shirts.
google avatar

Isaiah G.

Yelp
We were walking by and decided to stop by. This was is huge. It's like the old school music stores that unfortunately don't exist. There are was a lot of great birthday cards,cd's, records, and a ton of gifts great for a birthday. The place was reasonably priced. You can listen to music with the head phones. If you grew up in the 90's this is a must stop.
google avatar

Patrick A.

Yelp
As soon as we walked in the store my wife was asked to put her bag by the store entrance clearly to cutdown on shoplifting. I get it. However, the bag was for earrings. Nothing you could even hide a cassette tape. Just an unfriendly and and very unaccommodating staff.
google avatar

Avery B.

Yelp
Terrible service, overpriced records, they make you check your bag at the front with no one watching them. She insisted she would watch them but when i came up there no one was around. When i went up to the register the older lady was so rude and mean when i didn't know i was supposed to ring the bell and shamed me, questioned me because i was only buying one record. I asked for a plastic sleeve for my record and she charged me $2 for one. Just order records online at Amazon and avoid this place.
google avatar

Paul H.

Yelp
This is a great record store especially if you are looking for records, CDs, memorabilia, etc.. I understand that they have been in business since the mid-70's and this current location used to be an old Woolworth's store. In fact, the food/seating counter is still there ! They also had a few video games that you could jam out on. I was hoping that there were more records available in the used "digging" area as most of there stock focused on new and reissues. Overall a cool store with super retro vibes !
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
It's impossible for me to travel without searching out the local record store and Peaches was recommended to us by a local friend. It's based in an old Woolworths, that still has the old soda shop counter along the side. When you walk in, there are rows and rows of records and CD's stretching all the way to the back. It truly is a music lovers' dream...until you look at the prices. I'm always one to support an indie shop, but as a traveler, knowing it would be hard to transport records, and a collector, who knew they were charging $5-$10 or more over the realistic value, I didn't end up buying anything. If you're looking for something hard to find, and have the money to spend, this is an ideal place to check, but if you're buying a new record that you can find elsewhere, I might get it there. Overall review, cool shop but overpriced.

Michael T.

Yelp
This place is a museum not a record store. New Records are double what they should be. Used records are quadruple. I did find some out of print records from 2015-2018 time period that were priced at $30-$35 but couldn't be had for under $150 online. This was only because they don't sell much and you get a lot of records that sit for years or even a decade before they are purchased. Not recommended although I hear the owner is nice and does a lot for the community.

Johnson J.

Yelp
Awesome family owned record store. They have a great selection of records for all genres and the staff is great.

Arianna C.

Yelp
I come to this record store every time I visit out of town. It's one of my favorite shops in New Orleans. This is not just any ordinary record shop, it has such a variety of everything for everyone. The variety includes: new/used vinyls, new/used cds, movies, shirts, sweaters, sunglasses, keychains, cookware, and so much more! This family owned business has been around for many years and makes you feel right at home the second you walk in the door. If you do take a visit make sure you say hello to the beautiful Mama Peaches herself.
google avatar

Kyle H.

Yelp
Independent record shop, in business since 1975. I liked the selection of new LPs, but have to agree- vinyl prices were outrageously high. I liked the independent mission and had a great conversation with the owner lady. Needing the new Spoon album in my collection, I purchased the CD which is fine. They have a great curated selection, and are pretty famous, on Magazine Street.

chinchin

Yelp
The lady at the register who calls herself "mama peaches" was extremely rude. Every time someone tried to walk out of the place without buying something she stopped checking people out to loudly shame them and try to get them to come back in and buy something. She would sit there and say to people "why are you leaving" and then grill them until they either ignored her and just left or stayed in the store. So unless you are 100% sure you are going to buy something don't walk into the place. The prices in this store are also insane. With shopping at a local place of course there has to be some mark up but some of the prices of normal reprints were 3x that what you would find at amazon or barnes and noble. They also were selling posters that came from 5 below for $20. Don't come here unless you want to waste your money and get bullied. I would give 0 stars if I could.
google avatar

Eric F.

Yelp
It's a nice enough shop. Decent selection, friendly employees. I really, really love to support independent record stores- but Peaches Records is one of the most overpriced shops I've ever been to in my life. I do expect to pay a markup when I'm shopping independent shops, but this was extreme. If Amazon charges $20-$25, Peaches charges $40. If Walmart charges $30, Peaches charges $60. I understand that profit margins are tight for record shops, but this was way too much markup for me.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Super friendly staff! The lady who I suspect was the owner was very hospitable and greeted everyone with some sort of small talk. The selection of music is huge. They carry many genres of music. Very clean inside. Street parking.
google avatar

Jakia N.

Yelp
This is a really cool spot to get records and things you never knew you needed. The decor takes you back in time in the best way possible. I went here because I just got a vinyl record player and wanted to see if I could find some records by artists I like. I was greeted as I arrived and no one bothered me as I browsed the record selection (I love that). I do think the records here are overpriced as a I saw some of the same records at other stores and online at a significantly cheaper price. I ended up getting a few candles. They have holy candles with a bunch of local artists and other popular artists on them. These were so cool and I got a few as gifts. I also got a cool car air freshener with Tupac on it.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
I do not live in New Orleans but it is my favorite city. My best friend sent me to this store because of her visit on a past trip. This was the best store find on my trip for sure. The staff was friendly and helpful pulling down an Anthony Bourdain shit for me. The selection is fascinating. I bought Tupac socks, the above mentioned shirt, an awesome purse in the shape of a mixtape: I don't really care about vinyl (and they REALLY do at this store and the layout is awesome) and I still had PLENTY to see, buy, and almost buy. This store is a fantastic find all the way around.
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
This is a fun shop to browse in and the selection is good for both records and CDs and other merchandise like shirts and books. It is true that the prices are high to outrageous. The "whats hot" wall is full of overpriced records that is fun to flip around and gasp at the price. One example was Madonna's first album going for $70. Far from rare or obscure I doubt anyone who know anything about records or her career would spend that much on a piece of vinyl that sold millions. The rest of the items are just regularly overpriced so i would suggest that when shopping here you need to know the value of the item (easy to do in this age of smart phones) and shop wisely. I visit this store on all visits to the city and have always found a few items that are hard to find and also not priced too much. Despite the high prices i still give this 4 stars because it is fun to shop here and the owner and staff are also great.
google avatar

Maryellen S.

Yelp
Really cool place for records and gifts. They have a full-size lunch counter in the store. It must have been an old Woolworths or something. Lots of used CD's as well as new music with listening stations. The new Boneramma CD was $10.00 more here than at other places. Watch out for over-pricing on new or local stuff.
google avatar

Esther G.

Yelp
Love the store - love the people. Always a good experience. They've got a great selection of vinyl to satisfy a variety of tastes.
google avatar

Kenneth B.

Yelp
For new music media this store seems just fine. But a good chunk of floor space is devoted to used records, and it is in that regard that Peaches is rotten. In decades of record buying and collecting I have never encountered a store so massively disconnected from pricing trends. As I flipped through a stack of albums I was struck by prices of $79 and $99 for ordinary, not at all rare, and rather worn copies of records sold in the $10-12 range at stores elsewhere in NOLA (and all around the USA). Others around me flipping through the stacks had similar jaw-dropping experiences, and we shared our astonishment. Peaches performs an amazing service for its peers by providing concrete and palpable evidence for every other used record store in NOLA to claim to be a discount shop. Peaches: Price the Pain Away

Charles E.

Yelp
The service was amazing. The selection was the best I've seen in my life. They had everything to choose from. The records were a little pricy but it's not insane.
google avatar

Courtney K.

Yelp
I feel so lucky to live within walking distance of Peaches. Most people come for the amazing record selection, but I absolutely love the fun, one of a kind cards and all the whimsical and irreverent gift items. The owner always recognizes me and we have a nice chat every time I pop in. A must-stop while strolling Magazine Street!
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
I've been a loyal follower of Peaches Records since their former residence in the French Quarter. Their new digs in the former Woolworth's space uptown on Magazine is the crown jewel of that block--(sorry Miss Mae's)--and I've made several pilgrimages for music and gifts since their grand opening. Music greets you first, pumped through outdoor speakers. Next, bright lights, fun product in the window and a catchy sidewalk sandwich board at entry. They've got everything! Vinyl, CDs, tapes and used versions of all of the above. Band merchandise; t-shirts, stickers, posters, books and videos. For non music related gifts their are socks, candles, cards, incense and MORE! Need an album that's out of stock? No problem! The staff are pros and from my experience know when to expect their next shipment. They'll even let you prepay and call you when it arrives for quick pickup. Overall, this record store romanticizes the music stores of yesteryear by preserving the past and continuing the important work for the future of non-digitized music. There's SO much more here than highlighted in this short review so please put Peaches on your to do "playlist" and give them a spin!

S B.

Yelp
I came in to the record store which is very cluttered looks like a deserted thrift store no one said hello and as I was picking things out from pen area for gifts for holidays and shopping on magazine street the owner whom appeared to be a foreigner stopped me from Shopping after I had been in store almost 10 minutes picking out stocking stuffers she asked me to check in my bag without asking if I needed help or a hello I felt targeted as a person who lives in the neighborhood and a local artist myself who does music ...artists and locals are the ones who made this an icon place and feel discriminated against I refused to make a purchase with the encounter understanding I was shopping in my neighborhood and feel unwelcomed...I am owed an apology and hope this discrimination or inappropriate treatment of costumers stop and see this place going out of business soon now I see why there were no one else shopping there pathetic you have to jump to higher over priced items because your customer service sucks now I see why we shop online these days don't waste your money on these over priced records and knock offs...going out of business sale might get us regular prices but online I go what an encounter and I just spent money with two stores before I encountered her guess shopping spree over for me on magazine street. I will make a complaint with better business bureau about treatment as I was heckled putting her items back as I was leaving my shopping experience at magazine location. This is Harassment while shopping. I called the number listed on store website to address my public humiliation but just like the crappy customer service I received in person why would I think someone would answer the phone or have a voice mail no answer called several times for my humiliation so here I go publicly to tell all locals to boycott peaches records I might protest out front the store cuz this was something I did not respect... why stop me from shopping you should be standing outside welcoming people in this dusty establishment by the looks of no customers everyday I walk by this site but now I see why she has no customers she drives them away and price gouging of artists music is ridiculous should be illegal the price hikes #boycottpeachesrecords

Robbie L.

Yelp
Good selection, nice and helpful staff! Got two Vinyls Plastic Beach and Random Access Memory (RAM) for what felt like a good price sealed. tBest to support small, local businesses :) I had an issue with the plastic beach vinyl slipping so i brought it back, they listened to the whole record and gave me some advice on how to set up my record player for newer, thicker vinyl. Added a quarter to needle. Now no skipping!
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
Incredible selection. Came from out of town and always look to support local shops but I've NEVER seen prices this high. $50 for common LP's I could get delivered to my doorstep for 1/2 the price. I'm no major collector but in all the shops I've ever been, this place takes the prize for the most outrageous prices I've ever seen. Cool shirts, dated knick Jack's and memorabilia thats more reasonably priced.

Yelp
Awww man..this place brings me back to better days in so many ways. First of all, thr variety of music genres alone is glorious. They range from vinyl, discs, all the way to cassettes! I wouldnt be surprised if they had 8 tracks. Would any of you even know what that is?!?! Second of all, this goes way back for me because they used to be in Gentilly. I used to go in there all the time when I was a teenager. I bought a few vinyls back then. Its so nostalgic to be able to come into tbis store and see the same people working in there. Like time stood still. Only this time, the store is 3x bigger and they sell so much more than vinyls..soo much more. This store is huge and aisles are roomy. Clean and well stocked. Prices are a lil pricey but if you look hard enough, you may find a bargain. The whole store will take you at least an hour just to walk through and look around in it. I love that they incorporated the old Woolworths diner into the design of the store. It makes it so much more unique and memorable. So glad to be able to visit this place. Just walking through is an event in itself. There is something for everyone here. It eould be awesome if the diner was a working station..but it doesn't take away from the place. Just somewhere to sit while my cousin looks for anything Mariah Carey. Located near the corner of Napoleon and Magazine, it is a great tourist attraction and I hope they continue to do great business.

Yelp
Loved the old record store! What a flashback to my youth! The staff was very friendly and there was no end of things to shop through. If you are in the area it is for sure worth a visit.

Yelp
This is an Amazing & FUN place to check out! If you like weird, fun, exotic things and LOVE MUSIC - you need to come check this place out. If you're like me - you will be here a while Looking through their many music selections. If you can't find what you're looking for - and you shouldn't - simply go up to the register and ask they ladies there. If they can't find it - they will order it for you! The service is amazing!! They actually have the Woolworths counter from the Academy Award winning film, The Butler - recreated indentical to the Woolworths that had the 1st Civil Rights protest sit-in! Come give these lovely ladies some love by shopping and sharing your experiences. My friend NANCYLEE turned me into this and it was awesome! I bought some souvenir gifts as well as a few things for myself! When I am back in NawLINZ I will Most definitely plan on coming back for more fun things to bring back with me. Thanks for reading my review. I usually just write about food - but I wanted to share this cool spot as well. Will Gotay aka The FoodPro! Instagram: @willgotay4real YELP: Will G. Yelp
Nice selection, but their vinyl prices are ludicrous. For example, public domain European jazz and blues reissues ( on labels like Waxtime) should cost in the vicinity of 20 to 25 bucks (and closer to $18 online). Here? Fifty bucks. That was typical of the markup on new and used vinyl. I like supporting local stores, but I have my limits. And this store found those limits and blew right past them.

Timothy M.

Yelp
Peaches is obviously a "legendary" shop to some, and while I understand the sentimental connection many locals have with what it once was, I feel like it's now mostly famous for its absurd prices. And, when I say absurd this isn't hyperbole. We're talking used, regularly found records, priced $20+ above their average. And used cds, yes...used cds, which cost $5 on Ebay, priced at $20. Is this a record store or a museum for repackaged music? Maybe they've made so much money in the past, and they don't feel the need to price records competitively, or even appropriately. My friends and I joke about how they don't actually want to sell records any more, and maybe use it as a front for something else. You should go just for the amusement. Be prepared to laugh as you walk the aisles, almost like you're on a hidden camera show, or an SNL sketch. The business model simply doesn't make any sense at all, unless of course you're the guy who says, "Actually I'd like to pay $60 for a $20 record. I like wasting money." After years of record shopping, internationally, roaming truly great stores like Amoeba (CA) and many others, this place is, by far the most expensive vinyl shop I've found. I'll end with a positive, sort of. Their collection is solid. They'll likely have what you're looking for, or close, but the prices will depress you. The level of OUT OF TOUCH is at an 11. New Orleans deserves better.

Yelp
Despite other patrons being able to walk around freely with tote bags and backpacks, I was asked by a weird employee in a rockabilly outfit to leave my small grocery bag at the counter as if I was going to use it to steal. Then he just hovered around the section I was looking at and eyed me down creepily for the rest of my visit. Well he certainly has a high opinion of the store because there was nothing worth stealing in the entire place. It's all stupid knick knacks like you'd see in a Barnes and Nobles and the type of records you could find at an Urban Outfitters. I recommend anyone with real taste to visit Euclid Records and Sisters in Christ.

Yelp
I'm no record connoisseur by any means. I literally just doubled my record collection from 2 albums to 4, so if you're a record junkie take my review as a beginner's critique. The hubs got me a lovely record player with speakers last year and I have been meaning to expand my itty bitty collection. Back when Peaches was on Decatur, I would walk by nearly every day. The only thing I purchased was a super cute black tank with the Peaches logo in shiny gold (btw handwash or the shininess will come off). This Sunday I finally stepped into their new location on Magazine and I love it!!! I found every album I had wanted (though a few I'll be coming back for) as well as oodles of fun gift stuff (as you can see by my pictures). I mean when a store carries my favorite accessory, a fanny pack, they're doing it for me. They also carry my buddy's badass balloons which makes me love them even more. I love how they kept the Woolworth's counter and installed the listening like they had in their old store. We were asked if we needed any help while perusing. The owner was working the register, and was very pleasant. I went home with the Greatest Hits by Tom Petty and a James Brown record, sure to be back for a fanny pack, handful of patches, rockstar pins and all the other fun stuff they had.

Yelp
PLEASE READ! I really wanted to support local this local business especially after covid, these shops took a big hit. Everyone needs to put food on their tables and I completely understand. However, all the understanding in the world could not make me fathom paying $89.99 for a vinyl and $30 for a cd. I am currently getting into collecting vinyl and I quickly realized this is not the place to do it. There is a record store on Bayou Rd. that you will have better fortune with. They have less options but great prices. The last time I went in the store was to retrieve a cd that was ordered. I was already over this place because they charged me three times the price because the cd was sold out on the artists website. I had to call constantly to find out if the order came in because no updates were given. After badgering and wanting to exchange they magically found my album. They also wanted me to buy a cd cleaner and after I said no she kept pushing me to buy it (I didn't buy). I will never return to this store.

Yelp
Peaches was bro1's go to record store in the 1970s... when it was on Causeway Blvd near the mall (I think). Same logo as back in the day so I'm guess the same folks. This location is a great use of the former Woolworth's on Magazine Street. It's a huge space so they have beaucoup crates of albums, tapes and CDs. PLUS they have all sort of novelty gifts, tshirts and whatnot... and I do mean whatnot. From silly trinkets for the youngsters to naughtier trinkets for your friends, they probably have gag gift of your dreams. They also seemed to have some of the Bayou Shirts HowAhYa stock that is sold at Jazz Fest. Super friendly staff. And I love that the old lunch counter is intact, even if it's just for show.

Yelp
Peaches back in the 70's was the store you went to for Records & Tapes. Also they had great in store meet & greets. Then one day they were bankrupt.. Now I'm not sure if this place is part if original chain or not but glad to have them around to keep selling music. I'm sure you will find something you want so browse around or grab a shirt. Do something to help keep this store alive.

Yelp
I vividly remember my first impression of Peaches. I was utterly stunned. Besides Amoeba in San Francisco, it's the largest store I've ever stepped foot in. A two-story tower filled with records, bustling tourists and inviting décor. However, record stores are for records. And after my third visit a few days back, Peaches has really distanced itself from the top of the leaderboard. I found plenty of noteworthy records, several I would've added to the collection. But like most others who nag on Peaches, it's difficult not to discuss price. About 90% - 95% of the records here are overpriced. Which means I could search Amazon, visit an artist's online store or head to any other record store across the country and find it considerably cheaper. I'm not a stickler. I'm not the type to storm out of a record store because of an overpriced record. Nevertheless, I ended up buying a Bob Dylan 7" single and an Arctic Monkeys 10" EP. This ran me $41 after tax. In the vinyl world that's simply unheard of. But I was on the vacation, so I took a bite (or two) of the bullet. Most of the staff are friendly and will carry on striking conversations with you about bands or hot spots of New Orleans. But you can tell they're trained to act like car salesmen. Every two minutes, you'll have an employee ask you, "Do you need help finding anything?" I believe I speak for all vinyl-lovers here that when you're searching through stacks of records, you want your privacy. Ahem. Peaches will see my face many more times, but hopefully I'm a millionaire by then, because the bank has already been broke.

Yelp
Talk about a blast from the past! Do y'all (30+ folks) remember actual music stores? When I was a kid, my favorite was Musicland at Oakwood Mall. I remember on one side of the store they had a selection of records, through the middle of the store they had CD's and along the wall they had cassettes. I used to LOVE spending time in there looking over the music to see what I wanted to treat myself to, with what little money I had. Peaches Records brought all of those memories flooding back. I happened to be in the area, so I popped in here just to see what it was all about. There were no other customers, but the woman working gave me a friendly greeting. I think that this store could have everything you could possibly want: new and old records, used CDs, tshirts, cassettes- you name it. It's as old school as you can possibly get. If you are any kind of record collector, and you are looking for something specific, this should be your first stop. I loved that along the side wall they have headphone kiosks where you can listen to music. I remember that from back in the day too! I didn't find anything I wanted to buy on this trip (although I was tempted to buy an old Dolly Parton record), but I will definitely be making a habit of checking this place out, on the regular, just to see what they have to offer. I like that their used music CDs are well priced and they have a good selection of new stuff. Note: I love that the space is an old Woolworth's complete with diner-area. I wish it was operational!

Yelp
i have to be honest with this review. they have a great selection and staff but the person pricing the vinyl needs a reality check. they are overcharging for some of the most average records i've ever seen. i was looking at a particular repress which usually goes for about $35-40, and they had it marked at $70. laughable. A lot of their "vintage" is pretty all over the place as well. You cannot charge $79-100 for a beat up record just because it's old. If you want to support a local record store and don't mind getting GOUGED, then this is the place for you. Again, the staff is very nice, but the prices are just simply not acceptable.

Yelp
This is an awesome shop located in a great spot. They have records, CD's, casettes, posters, record players, and hilarious greeting cards. Basically, if it has anything to do with music or pop culture, they will definitely have it here. They had loads classic music, but also stuff like Skrillex on Vinyl and sountracks from new movies. I would definitely recommend to stop by this place, even if its just to browse and kill time. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
I love Peaches! This is absolutely the place to be. The idea is coming here and once you go inside then you'll know what you need. This place is the place to be its clean, friendly, stocked and they have what you need. They've been doing the right thing for years.
