Nice trail for walking, running or biking. Flat and isolated from any traffic. several bridges and trestles to cross including the big one over the Broad River. This is a 6.5 mile section of a much longer trail across the state. So lucky to have this so close!

My wife and I hiked the almost 11 miles Saturday and enjoyed the mostly flat trail. We saw a water snake along the trail and numerous birds. Since it was a beautiful Saturday morning, we saw many friendly people on the trail. Most were walking, riding, and a few were jogging. There were kids, Boy Scouts, older couples and everyone greeted us with a smile. We plan to take on other parts of the trail soon.

This is a beautiful little trail! So many pretty bridges over the creek. Great for an easy walk with lovely views of nature. The terrain is very flat, stroller/bike friendly, and does have some picnic benches along the way. Very doable for elderly or small children. This access point in Pomaria for the Palmetto Trail is about the mid point of the 10 mile trail. The parking area is to the right and slightly behind Wilson's convenience store in Pomaria. You can access the trail from either side of the main highway. We crossed the road and went to the part of the trail on the opposite side of the road from Wilson's. We were looking for the huge trestle bridge that we'd seen pictures of on the trail, but that bridge goes over the Broad River and is most easily accessed from the entrances on either side of the river further down the Palmetto Trail in Peak. So we ended up driving to that entrance later to see that bridge. Highly recommend for a fun family day!

Well maintained trail with a great river crossing. Unfortunately, it is isolated from the main part of the state trail. So it is essentially a local walking, hiking, and bike path for now.

SUCH A GREAT SPOT FOR CAMPING!! we went on our spring break and we have not been camping before. but let me tell you, i felt so safe and secure here and everything was so peaceful, warm, and inviting. plus Wilson’s Grocery Store in Pomaria saved us from having to leave to get butter😂. i loved the experience this trail has given us. we will be back again, that’s for sure.

Beautiful trail, easy to walk, very peaceful. There is lots to see, wild ferns, water runs on one side, and many marine plants at times on the opposite side. There is a fun spot for camping or a nice picnic right before the rail bridge with no side rails. Really a beautiful spot. If you go here and end up hungry, Wilson's has some phenomenal burgers. We highly recommend grabbing lunch and heading out for a picnic.
