Guide to Mississippi's Secret Coast

I normally don’t write reviews, but this one was worth sharing. The room and location were great, but the service was excellent. The staff was patient, understanding, knowledgeable, and gave good recommendations on restaurants and bars. The morning we checked out, our company vehicle wouldn’t start due to a dead battery. Not only did the staff go out of their way to give us a jump start to continue our drive home, but they also rescued a stray kitten trying to take shelter in their vehicle. I do believe customer satisfaction is important for a business to thrive, and these girls displayed a level of kindness and willingness to help others to achieve that. Highly recommend, and have a Merry Christmas!

I stayed at this hotel when evacuating from Milton in Florida. Required a four night minimum at a rate of almost $500/night. Gouging! Desk was unhelpful. They did not provide a pass to navigate around an event that was in the area and did not provide parking as described on their website. Room was dirty and noisy. Bathrooms in the lobby were filthy and not fit for an animal. Wanted to discuss issues with the GM but the front desk would not provide contact information. They said her name was Sarah but refused to provide a last name. What GM of a reputable hotel does that? The optics are that the GM knows they are doing something wrong and are hiding from it. I would not recommend ever staying here unless you enjoy nightmare experiences. ============================== Hotel's response is full of discrepancies as expected. The front desk would not provide contact cards or last names. I was not there for Cruising the Coast. Entire hotel was noisy, not just outside rooms. Strange that they are determining how noisy my room was when I was in it and they were not. I stand by my rating.

Very nice weekend getaway, bay front balcony rooms, very clean and updated, extremely knowledgable and helpful staff. All within walking distance of a colorful night life with live bands, 5 star restaurants, beach and marina. The only minus is limited onsite parking, plan ahead arrange parking at time of booking

I really enjoyed my stay at the Pearl—a weekend getaway for my wife and me. It is a fabulous location, surrounded by many restaurants and places to have a drink. Very clean rooms. The only thing for me is I wish they had water to drink in the pool area and lobby.

We came here for a couple days to celebrate our anniversary, and it was delightful. Very well appointed, and very comfortable. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. ||Just a couple notes - be sure to get a room with a nice size balcony overlooking the harbor/beach. We stayed in 215, but I suggest a higher floor because there's construction across the street that will soon block the view. Also, this is a downtown location with minimal parking. The hotel has gated parking a block up (with an extra charge), but this can be cumbersome with luggage if it is raining, as it was on our arrival. This is really out of their control because space downtown is limited, although a golf cart shuttle for guests would be ideal. :)

Google
Best hotel of our 8 hotel holiday. Wonderful hotel, clean, modern and located within walking distance of shop, bars and restaurants. This is a friendly town, but the staff here stand out as being friendly and helpful. My wife needed a hairdresser within walking distance and they sorted it (there are 2 hairdressers, one was on holiday and the other had changed location). A big thanks.

Google
Absolutely the best place to stay in Bay St Louis. Wonderful local people to meet everywhere. Now, the hotel is a 5 star to my wife and I. We enjoyed the Pearl as soon as we walked through the doors. Friendly, courteous, professional staff awaits you upon entering. All of our needs were meet far beyond our expectations. I would love to keep this place a secret but I’m afraid it’s already out. The rooms are super clean and uber comfortable. We were very fortunate to a great balcony view of Beach Blvd. next to the Bank and was able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the day and evening. We are already planning another trip. See Y’all Soon!!!

Yelp
A pleasant stay and convenient to all the special offerings of Bay St Louis. I never post negative things about anything, but I don't won't people to think that the employees are a reflection of people in the south. The front desk staff needs some guidance on friendless and customer service! Clean hotel and nice view.

Yelp
Overview: Clean rooms, mostly friendly staff service (except for one attendant who was rude), relaxing location, conveniently connected to a coffee/breakfast place, a bar, and a restaurant. The Good: -Fantastic rate that we booked at the time (mid-April, less than $150/night, stayed for two nights) -Rooms were clean the hotel was mostly quiet -There was room service available from the three adjoining establishments mentioned above. -In Room temperature control worked well, it cooled the room well -Most of the staff was friendly, helpful, professional, kind, and speedy with any questions we asked or requests we had -The bathrooms, the elevators, the hallways... extremely clean. Loved that! -The happenings of the hotel and surrounding places is posted in the elevator in an itinerary style laminate. Very cool. -This may not sound like a big deal... but it is: the TV and remote both worked and made sense! -The location of the hotel is in walking distance of the beach, and bunch of fun restaurants and shops. It has a small town beach vibe to it... but that is the charm! The Bad: -The rooms, though being nice, did have a bit of dilapidation on them. Not sure how, since the place is so new. -One person up front was particularly rude, and when we asked simple questions cut to the quick with rejections or with one-word answers without making eye contact. Typically if we asked another host, the answer was friendly and different, so not sure what this person was going through during our stay. -We booked our stay and were not informed that two days, the restaurant had been rented out for special events. This kept us from enjoying any of the cuisine there. -The reserved parking is around the corner in a gated lot, not connected to the hotel and not covered, so your vehicle will be exposed to the elements. Overall, we loved our stay. And plan to stay again sometime! It's a hidden gem.

Yelp
Everything was clean and comfortable. Towels are so soft. It's a nice hotel and staff was pleasant. We really appreciated the location and walkability. Our only critique is the price. We had a four night stay and tried to add on Friday, but the price jumped from $160 a night to $419 a night. We asked for a discount, as we had been there for days, and they said the could do 15% off. We obviously passed as we just couldn't justify that large of a jump in price for a hotel that offered nothing special.

Yelp
High schoolers or extremely young, rude adults checking us in. No manager on duty to ask why the $20 per night parking fee on a $650 per night room. Other front desk attendant interrupted our conversation (while answering another person's question). Spend your money on a VRBO where you don't have to encounter rudeness. Waiting to hear from a manager as per our request with a business card presented to us. We were told to send an email. Nice and clean hotel, however don't expect any customer service.

Yelp
I don't take to this platform often, and my reviews are pretty much always positive. Regarding this Property, Don't book by looking at slick website. This is a holiday InnExpress, minus free breakfast, wrapped up in a package of a Boutique hotel. It has some redeeming qualities. We put the AC on 68 degrees. It achieved that. Aveda amenities do not a boutique hotel make. The answer to everything was a resounding No. paying full rack rate, when hotel was at most 40 % occupancy, and requesting a later checkout... No. Requesting a room upgrade, No. proper Glasses ( water/wine, No. Landscaped Courtyard view, Well notice photos were taken at night. Great website, but the reality was far from what was advertised. I'd far recommend Bay St Louis Inn. FAR better value, and expect to get what I pay for. Bay St Louis has become a bougie overpriced destination. I'm not looking for something for free. It was beyond underwhelming.

Yelp
Oh my! Such a lovely brand new boutique hotel. The lobby, rooms, hallway and restaurant all reflect cutting edge design. There are so many little details in the room that are praiseworthy of a really upscale big city hotel. The staff are awesome and the servers and mangers at The Thorny Oyster (hotel restaurant) are engaging, helpful and perfectly delightful. Our service was without criticism. The only concern I had regarding this property was the shower. It was magnificent, however, the shower floor became very slippery when water and soap it hit. But our stay at The Pearl was delightful and we will be back.

Pretty and newly built hotel. but after that there was no bell service there was no parking no room service not even coffee Pool not available to early check-in pool not available for late check out after 50$ upcharge no service at the pool food or drinks . Front desk not that great but of course they have no services so they can't really do anything for you.

Yelp
Would rather stay at a more customer centered establishment. There is no unloading zones for luggage and no onsite parking. They should add a loading parking spot. You will need to carry all luggage from off street parking upon arrival and departure. Upon departure we got caught in a thunderstorm at brunch. We called to let them know we would need a late checkout. It is $25/hour after 11am checkout. This was a little understandable because they were fully booked during a summer weekend stay. After paying $50 for a late checkout I went to the pool. My key card would not work. I went to the front desk and they informed me that I could no longer use the pool. After spending almost $500 for a 2 night stay I would expect the least they could do for customer service sake is let me end my weekend trip reading a book by the pool. The hotel is gorgeous I feel like they can work out these kinks in customer service which is why I gave 2 stars instead of one.

Yelp
First time in Mississippi, i found this small new hotel to be charming. The staff was wonderful. My room was more than adequate, and housekeeping was SO friendly. I have been fortunate to travel the world, and i have never had housekeeping personally write a welcome letter to me. I highly recommend this quaint spot. Negatives - no workout facility and no room service. But there are restaurants and bars adjoining and close.

Yelp
Beware! Our room was dirty and the pool was nasty. We found bugs in our room. Overpriced and inconvenienced!
