After a fried chicken dinner nearby, a stroll around this charmingly quaint little town and visit to the antique store, I spotted this place and from the look of the outside, we had to stop in for a beer.
The barmaid greeted us with a smile, and was friendly and open to conversation. She appeared to be also discussing business with another employee, but was prompt to serve us and did not neglect us in any way. In fact we chatted quite a bit as they weren't busy, and she was kind enough to give us some recommendations on the Indiana chicken thing. When we left, we were thanked for coming in, and asked to please come again.
Good sized bar, designed with an antique look. I could see a dining room at the rear. We learned this is one local joint that does NOT serve fried chicken, but seems to focus on German influenced cuisine.
Place was very clean, as were the restrooms.
Normally I would probably give 3 stars due to it being a brief visit only at the bar, but in justice I felt the need to counterbalance what seems to me a very inappropriate review below. Does not seem right to slam a place because you were listening in to a private conversation and didn't like what you heard.
