As a Texan I was in the area so tried the BBQ. Very nice location great for dining and conversation. Entering the place you can smell the smoke. Setup to order is simple and staff very helpful and friendly. As I looked around, I began to wonder where the meat was being smoked. Well outside was a smoker, but it seemed to be there for decor. My Texan BBQ red flags begin to go off. Food arrives served on recyclable trays like places in Texas. Brisket has a nice color, inside light brown, red ring just under the outer burnt coat. Looks great, is tender and cuts with a fork. Flavour is where this meat is not impressive. No flavour of smoke, sweet or spice. So of course I being to wonder where did they bring this in from. I’m not a link guy but their sausage link was a great surprise. Nice spice kick, not greasy, but again no taste of smoking.
If you haven’t had true Texas BBQ this place will suffice. Just know that deep in the heart Texas, BBQ has a definitive taste. It is a serious thing.
