Okay so first trip to Solvang ever! I read amazing reviews about this place, and it really good! But to be honest, it wasn’t nearly as amazing as people made it sound. It’s a GOOD sandwich (I had the Mortadella with everything on it), but a couple notes (this is for me personally: 1) sandwich was PACKED with delicious ingredients, but I didn’t feel like they jived together. They tasted separate as opposed to one amazing flavorful bite. 2) the bread was amazing! Truly great, nothing wrong there. 3) Get the sandwich how YOU want it. I’m the kind of guy who can eat anything, but I wouldn’t get the house spread and sauces they thee on there again. I think that’s potentially what brought disharmony to the sandwich for me. Atmosphere is SUPER awesome, nice outdoor seating and the woman working front of house was really nice!! TLDR: Would come back again, but take my expectations down and make the sandwich EXACTLY what I want. It’s a pricey sandwich for the high-quality ingredients, so that’s worth it if you got the dough.

If you haven’t tried this place, you need to! The most scrumptious freshly baked bread (in house) for the most delicious sandwiches. My husband had the Godfather and I had the Brady and we were both in heaven. Their baked Dutch bread is to die for! I had to order a few rolls to take home. You won’t regret this gem of a restaurant. Bonus is the fantastic arcade connected to the deli with games like vintage TMNT and pinball machines. Will definitely be frequenting this place. Yum!

Amazing food, great service and lovely spot. The Sofia Loren special has got to be one of the most tasty sandwiches I’ve had. It’s a special so if it’s there when you go, definitely get it

A grab & go joint from Peasants feast offering phenomenal sandwiches. They also have a great arcade with some classic pinball games, video games and air hockey. Great for the whole family. The sandwiches are pretty big and could definitely be split for a smaller eater.

I've already shared this on Yelp, but I'll share here again too. These are perhaps some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I can't even begin to describe the flavors, but the combination of ingredients in the sandwiches were perfect. My friends and I shared "The Godfather" and also "Chopped Italian Sandwich", and we were thoroughly impressed. The deli is a small spot with some limited seating in the shop, but there is an additional arcade area where there is more seating available. I believe Sarah, one of the owners, may have been the person who helped us with our orders. The day we came in, it was raining hard, so being in this shop was a pleasant surprise with its cozy décor and comforting space to take a break from the weather. The place also has a very clean restroom, which is always something I appreciate. I wish I could take home sandwiches as souvenirs for loved ones.

I stopped here and got an amazing pastrami sandwich. Ingredients were great and delicious, I highly recommend.

Two part review: 1st.) ordered the Kobe roast beef sandwich. Generally it was amazing. All of the ingredients complement each other well. The star of the show is the Kobe beef. It was Smokey and all of flavors balance out the sandwich. Horseradish hit/creamy ness from the aioli, the nutty ness from the cheese, and a good crunch from the bread. We swapped for lettuce but the arugula would provide a good bite of bitterness for the sandwich. 2.) I split the sandwich with my Fiance, my sandwich was great but unfortunately hers had a hair in it. I alerted the manager and she was courteous with addressing the issue. Offered a refund. Staff was kind and quick for recovery.

We were waiting for our table at Peasants Feast when we walked across to street to look into the Peasants Deli. We quickly changed our minds and decided on the deli, over the sit-down restaurant. What a great decision. Even tho we had several people in our group we were able to find seating on the indoor and outdoor tables. Between us, we order just about all the sandwich options available. And we can confidently say we made the right choice with the deli over the Feast restaurant. I got the hot pastrami sandwich which was so good. One drawback, I should have asked for melted cheese as that is my preference for hot pastrami sandwiches. And the lady behind the counter taking our order was awesome. Even tho it was busy, she was quick and accurate to take care of all of our special orders and helping with other needs. Even getting a cup of ice from next door for me. We will definitely be going back to Peasants Deli the next time we are in town.

Over the weekend my friends and I went to Solvang and we grabbed a quick lunch a peasants deli and I was blown away! Peasants Deli specializes in artisanal sandwiches, and as a sandwich lover I knew I had to give this spot a try. The sandwiches are on the pricier side, but it is very high quality and delicious. Perfect for taking it on the go or eating in. The deli is really cute and very nicely decorated. Service was also good. Right across from Peasants Deli is also their restaurant Peasants Feast, which is a New American restaurant that has a Bib Gourmand award! So I will definitely be trying it the next time I am in Solvang! We got the Pastrami Reuben to split between the 2 of us! The Pastrami is house brined, smoked and steamed. It has a peppercorn and coriander crust. The sandwich is loaded with sauerkraut, Emmental cheese, their secret sauce. The pastrami in this sandwich was insanely flavorful and smoked so nicely. Paired really well with the Emmental cheese. The sauce and sauerkraut was really flavorful and added a nice tang to the pastrami. The corn rye bread was also delicious. Might be one of my favorite Pastrami Reuben sandwich I have ever eaten. The pickled was pickled so well, but could have been a little crispier. Everything about this $18 sandwich was great. Everything went so well together. 9/10 My other friend got The Godfather...I did not try it so I can't rate it. But from the looks of it, it looks really delicious but the bread seemed to be too chewy.

Strange to say but the sandwich (Godfather) tasted so much better 24 hours later. We came in for sandwiches to take to the park. Great place! So fun to be able to play with the arcade & have a drink while you wait. The games are fairly priced which was nice. We brought our picnic to the park and ate less than half of my sandwich 2 hours after ordering. Was not very good- I was disappointed. I took it home and ate it the next day and it was SO GOOD. All the oils & seasonings melded into the bread. So so good.

stopped by here on a whim since restaurants were so crowded, wait times was crazy! i love sandwiches so def wanted to try it out. i got the mortadella sandwich, option to make it spicy. not sure why the banana peppers (love them!) were removed, chili oil was added instead. the meat was good. the bread was only ok, it was chewy and hard :( maybe it was an off day. but i would come back for their godfather! that sandwich sounded so good. staff was super nice. outdoor seating was super convenient since we had our dog with us.

Deli, arcade, and comics! Great service! The sandwiches included fresh ingredients. I didn't like this type of French bread - usually not that chewy.

I just came across this deli when looking at what type of restaurants were in Solvang. The pictures of the sandwiches looked really good so I decided to try it out when I was in town visiting. WOW! This deli lived up to the reviews and expectations! They make really good sandwiches here and is definitely worth trying when you visit Solvang!

This shop is cute but really small inside. 3 bistro tables inside and a coin arcade in the next room. The Godfather sandwich had really yummy meat. By default, it comes on their special bread. I forget what it was called but it had sesame seeds on top. You could switch it out for another bread upon request but I wanted to try it how it's originally made. I like a bread with a good crust on the outside and soft on the inside (like a Dutch crunch), but this one was a little thick and tough on the inside. You gotta have strong teeth to get through the bread! My jaw got a workout for sure. They have a partner restaurant across the street and a lot of workers from over there were walking in with containers of food (from the restaurant) and would leave with containers of food (from the deli). It was a bit distracting overall with the constant in/out and passing by us, as we were trying to enjoy our sandwich. The place is really small as it is so I'm unsure if this is typical or just on the day we happened to visit. Lots of folks would come in to pick up their to-go orders and would check out the arcade while they waited.

Love the ambiance of this place-- unassuming place with an arcade. I got the Marinated Mushroom sandwich, which honestly, was not what I expected it to be. BUT I'm happy with my pick, nonetheless. It had a nice kick from the guindella peppers. In the 30-45 min I ate there, I noticed many customers come in, who the employees all knew, and they ordered and wandered into the arcade to play a few games. Great food with a family friendly atmosphere. What more do you want? Only regret is not getting more sandwiches :P

While walking around we found this little spot! We didn't want something super heavy, just something to fill us up. Inside they have a couple of tables in the main area and they have a side area with a bunch of arcade games! I got the Kobe roast beef sandwich, and it was pretty big! For the price I was glad that it got me full! The sandwich was delicious, I do wish that it had a little more flavor other than the mayo and balsamic. Other than that it was delicious and filling! The workers were all really nice and ready to answer any questions we had!

This place should be called the Royal deli. Fancy delicious food but also pricey. We ordered the godfather sandwich, caviar cone, jamon iberco, squid and chorizo pintxo. For one person working the service was good. We chose to sit outside because it was a nice day. They did have a couple tables inside also. The godfather sandwich was delicious and a good size (wife and I split a sandwich). The combination of all the flavors work so well. I really liked how they put a lot of lettuce on the sandwich, normally I have to ask for extra lettuce. The caviar cone's manchester cheese espuma had an airy feel and i could taste a slight game flavor (very slight), while the caviar had that salty briny flavor. The jamon iberco had that nice nutty flavor. Together the flavors went well, but I wish our side order of iberco came out at the same time so we could have added more iberco to eat with the cheese. The squid and chorizo pintxo was small but a nice treat. It had that inital lemony/citrus flavor then chorizo with smoky saltiness. The squid had a soft chewy texture. Kobe carpaccio was more cooked than I had expected. You could taste the mustard while the anchovy added the smoky saltiness flavor. This place has delicious food worth a shot tasting. Portions are small due to high quality ingredients (sandwiches are a good sized portion). The arcade is also fun to play the old school games.

Tucked a way from the busy street of Solvang is a sandwich lovers dream! Service is wonderful and quick. There's also a random arcade inside to play around in once you're full.

The best European style tuna sandwich. Made fresh on the spot, so you have to wait for the process..... You cant even imagine or describe it. We take people to Solvang when they visit Santa Barbara and then stop in for a sandwich. Everyone usually says, "well Tuna is not my favorite sandwich" and order something else. Then our sandwich comes out and they ask to taste it. Then they say "Well we missed out! Let's come back next time!"

This is such a great place for amazing sandwiches! It is right across the street from Peasants Feast (which I would highly recommend) and there is street and public parking around. I ordered the Kobe and pastrami and was blown away! This isn't some Subway! It's a gourmet deli with delicious sandwiches. Both of my purchases were equally amazing in their own way. I will say the pastrami had a little kick to it but so many amazing flavors! I appreciated the wife beverage selection (alcoholic and not). There is some seating inside and outside which is nice. The owner and family were there when I went and are beyond friendly. Go check this place out!

The sandwich was a lot of bread...it was too hard and too much to compensate for what was inside. I eat a lot of tuna sandwiches and this was like a 2/5 stars for me. But they were really nice they let us use the restrooms across the street at their sister restaurant even though it was closed. The surprise arcade was also amazing and really made our tiny humans day.

We ordered a few things, the caviar cone, kobe beef carpaccio, jamon iberico small, squid & chorizo pinxto and the godfather sandwich. The carpaccio was pretty much roast beef although I think roast beef is probably more rare than this supposed 'carpaccio' we got. The caviar cone was ok. The jamon iberico was the best. I barely eat pork because I can't tolerate the taste of it because most pork has a strong boar taint taste to it but because I know iberico pork eats only acorn it diminishes any pork flavor and instead has a very nutty taste. The squid & chorizo pintxo was delicious and came skewered. We split the godfather sandwich, it was really good but the bread was so chewy that it made it nearly impossible to eat it clean. I like that the ratio of meat, veggies and bread was proportionate so you don't end up with only bread towards the end although this bread was too chewy to portion each bite equally. They also have an arcade in the back! I grew up playing at the arcades especially playing Area 51(a shooting game). That gun was the most calibrated gun out all Area 51 arcade games I've played growing up. I would come here again for the sandwich, the jamon iberico, and definitely to play at the arcade.

Yum, Yum, yum! This place is adorable nestled in the heart of Solvang. The smoked Turkey sandwich hit the spot. The sandwich was huge and I loved the shredded lettuce. The staff was friendly and I will definitely be back when I'm pending time in Solvang.

Tried it because of the good ratings. Excellent tuna and turkey sándwiches. Obviously expensive for a deli but the sandwiches were delicious and large enough to fill you up. A good choice for takeout in an over-priced town.

The owners of Peasants Feast brought more flare to Solvang with the addition of this deli. While they close early, it's fair reason to get out and about early in order to make it during their open hours. The godfather is fresh and well balanced, giving you everything you would want in a good sub. To me, the Rueben is where it's at. Always get the pastrami cut thick since their house smoked rub shines through the more crust you have. Easily the best sandwich in the Santa Barbara area.

Our friends recommended this place. They visited two days in a row. We ordered The Godfather. It's salty and tang and spicy. It's also messy! The vinaigrette drips and drops. This is a sandwich that must be finished in one sitting. It's also a large sandwich, approximately 10-12 inches. Large enough to share. We enjoyed our sandwich and the ginger beer. Yum!

Came here a few days ago after arriving to Solvang for the night. Initially had plans to go to peasants feast, but decided on the deli instead. The food is definitely overpriced roughly 20 dollars a sandwich, however the ingredients are top notch. My biggest gripe is that the ingredients being amazing means nothing when the bread is almost inedible. Very tough and really after half of my godfather sandwich my jaw started to get tired. The other sandwich we had however the chef special pastrami Reuben was fantastic! The only reason I am giving this place a 4 rather than a 3. Is the workers were extremely kind. The shop was cute well kept and the arcade had an AMAZING selection of games. I would go back specifically for the arcade. All the best games from the 90's My decisions on whether or not I like a restaurant is my desire to come back. I do not see myself coming back unfortunately. I am willing to give peasants feast a try though.

This week's special sandwich is the Monte Cristo. Healthier (not deep fried) with smoked turkey, tender ham and real Swiss cheese. Berry jam brings it all together. (Sorry, no photo. I ate it all!)

Best sandwich I've had in Solvang, LA, or the Bay Area so far! Shop is slightly away from the main hustle and bustle of the town but close enough that we could sit outside and enjoy seeing horses pass by several times. And wow, sandwiches are delicious! Unique and savory bread, with the best sandwich ingredients. Wine was great too.

Call your order for faster service. It was a Saturday which was expected to be a little busy but we waited about 25 minutes for 4 sandwiches. We ordered Smoked Turkey, 2 God Fathers, and a Kobe Roast Beef. Sandwiches were okay. Nice clean place but was really tight when you order you have to play Tetris with others in line to walk out. There are 3 tables inside which are all 2 seaters. They do have outside seating too, but not enough seats so people were standing while eating.

Great food, cute spot, rough service. I asked the woman behind the counter about the difference between a couple of sandwiches and she remarked that "it's exactly what it says on the menu." Wow... how helpful. The restaurant "Peasants Feast" across the street has friendlier service without the sarcastic tone.

Hip, cute, affordable, fun deli. It feels like every item on the menu & every item in the store are from a refined eye which has perfectly manicured them to have a fresh environment and palette of goods, esp in a touristy spot like Solvang. Service was really nice and attentive to boot. Oh yeah, they have an arcade with everything from pinball to air hockey (they should get an Area 51 Machine so the millenials like myself can really relive our youth).

I've been seeing people talk about this new spot on Facebook, so had to come try it today. The prices seemed a little high for sandwiches, but figured they must be worth it! Called ahead to place an order for takeout and it was already bagged and ready to go upon arrival. Not the easiest area to find parking at, especially for Solvang on a Saturday. We ordered the Godfather and the Smoked Turkey. All of their sandwiches come on a sesame bread that is sooo good. I opted for adding pickles to the turkey sandwich, which was delicious. The sandwiches are HUGE! Their lettuce is shredded super fine and everything was really fresh. We will definitely be back!

Hands down the best turkey sandwich I've ever had. Had to go two days in a row to get my fix before heading back home. Will be back just for this goodness. All other menu items looked amazing as well, but we don't eat pork product so we kept it kosher with turkey and loved it. There's a vegan option with portable mushrooms but we didn't make it that far on the menu. Highly recommend-- worth every penny and then some.

Delicious bread and a very filling sandwich. I had the roast beef and thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe more horseradish. A great place for lunch.

The bread was very tough. I expected crusty in the outside and soft on the inside. But it was just tough all the way around. Service was great, the overall taste was great. It's not cheap, you can definitely taste the quality of the ingredients. There's not much sitting room, one small table inside and one small table outside.

Wow! Amazing quality! I was just saying how sad I am we don't have good quality lunch meat in the states. This is the spot!

Hands down the BEST turkey sandwich I have eaten. Succulent turkely, beautifully seasoned and carved thin, perfectly dressed with shredded lettuce (legit for a great sandwich) and "the works". And the pastrami - Holy Smokes! This one runs out fast so grab it while you can.

Omg! The sandwiches are awesome! But the must try is the caviar, jamon cone. It's to die for. My hubby calls it his love language. We were headed to Peasants Feast when we accidentally wound up here instead. Got The Godfather sandwich and that was one amazing sandwich. Finely chopped lettuce and the spread or red pepper relish was so good. I have a bit of FOMO by not going across the street to Peasants Feast, but that sandwich made up for it.

Wow!!! This deli is amazing!!! Its so good. We had the marinated mushroom sandwich and the smoked Turkey sandwich. The house smoked turkey was shaved so thin it was absolutely delicious. Shredded lettuce was also really fine. I loved it. Really high quality ingredients. The bread was really good but was a touch too crusty. I love crusty bread but it was a little hard to eat. the flavor was awesome. The marinaded mushroom had a really unique flavor with a little chilies in it. It ended up being our favorite sandwich which surprised us. Finally someone doing a vegetarian option and putting some thought behind it. I wish I lived closer. I want to try EVERYTHING on the menu. Definitely try this place!

Although the menu is very limited, what they do have is perfected. We took our sandwiches to go and had them at one of the wineries during our tasting (an ideal plan if your winery allows food). I got The Godfather and I must say it is the best Italian I've ever had. The meats and cheese were all of the highest quality and were complimented perfectly by the dressing and spread. The sesame bread topped it off. My gf got the roast beef, it was equally as impressive. I do not like roast beef, until I had this sandwich. It is simple but fantastic, a Smokey flavor makes the roast beef a must try. Overall the sandwiches are a bit expensive, but I'd buy them again without hesitation. And again, I cannot stress enough that these should be ordered to go for your day wine tasting, a perfect combo.

WOW we stopped in today for a quick sandwich and talked about it the whole way home! We went for the pastrami Reuben and it was by far the best sandwich we've ever had. The flavors of each ingredient went perfectly together and the homemade pickle on the side was like no other. We also got to chat with the owners while we ate and you can tell that this deli (and their restaurant across the street) is a true passion project for them. This deli will be the reason that we will be making much more frequent trips up to Solvang!

For years, I would drive all the way down to Santa Monica every few months just to get my favorite sandwich from a fairly famous spot... Peasants Deli has completely blown that out of the water! The Godfather has everything you love about a classic Italian Sandwich but is taken to a new level with the highest quality meats and ingredients. I really can't say enough about how much I love it. I have also tried the Kobe Roast Beef and Ham and Cheese and they are both phenomenal as well. The Dijon that they use on the Ham and Cheese has a slight kick to it that really makes the sandwich sing. Everything I've had thus far has been out of this world and I can't wait to try more with the Tuna being next on my list. I'll try to get pictures before we absolutely devour everything next time.

Wow. I'm still speechless (and full) from our lunch a couple of days ago. We thought we were going to get a normal deli sandwich, but this place is far from normal. With a wide selection of high end meats, creative sandwiches, and a great presentation, you can't go wrong. They take pride in each sandwich and it shows.
