What a lovely addition to the Seaport! Set on the corner of Peck and Front, lays Peck Slip Social. A gorgeous new bar that offers bourbon, community, and delicious food.
The bar was a six year vision of bar owner and local, Alex and her partner -- and the passion is clear. Once you walk in, you feel at home. I rolled in on a wet Friday night to meet a friend and got a wave of welcome.
Inside, is a good vibe - a long L-shaped bar (with plenty of hooks and outlets for us chronic phone-dyers), and a pool table that adds a playful touch. A live band was playing 80s hits--including The Go-Go's!
The menu is diverse and delightfully budget-friendly, with no drink priced above $17--a rare blessing in this economy.
The menu is diverse and budget-friendly, with no drink priced above $17--a rare gem in today's economy. For my first round, I ordered The Mitch (a twist on a dirty gin martini with Botanist gin, olive brine, cucumber bitters, a dry vermouth wash, and toasted capers) and The Laura (a Sazerac reimagined with Redemption Rye, simple syrup, Creole and Peychaud's bitters, absinthe, orange, star anise, and a smoked finish). Both were exceptionally well-balanced and packed a good, strong kick.
For the second round, I went classic with a Negroni, while my friend tried The Lydia (sparkling pear cider, Aperol, soda, and orange juice). The Lydia was light and refreshing, and the Negroni? Easily one of the best I've had in awhile.
For snacks, we went with the hummus and the garlic confit.
The hummus was the true stand out. Well spiced with a sort of tomato, cucumber salsa onto a nice bed of hummus. My only gripe was it only came with two pieces of pita! Way too little for such a delicious dip.
It's great to see another bar in the area--while I hold a deep love and appreciation for Jeremy's, it's comforting to have an elevated haven like Peck Slip Social nearby.
