Pedro Lemos

"An interesting choice both in terms of its cuisine and its location in Foz do Douro, where the waters of the Douro meet those of the Atlantic. The attractive building, part of the city’s architectural heritage, is split between two levels, with one on the charming ground floor (home to the wine cellar), and the other, the main dining room (with a more cosmopolitan feel), upstairs. Pedro Lemos concentrates his cuisine on three tasting menus (one of which is vegetarian), all of which feature elaborate dishes that highlight the freshness of ingredients from the local area and, more generally, from other regions around the country. We highly recommend hailing a taxi to get here as the restaurant is situated in an historic district of the city with narrow streets where parking is difficult." - Michelin Inspector

Google
Superb restaurant. We visited Porto just for Pedro Lemos, and it was absolutely worth it. The service, the atmosphere, and out of this world food. We tried the tasting menu, and every part of it was just perfect. I cannot say enough about the food, it just needs to be experienced. The staff were very friendly, especially our server Katarina, who went above and beyond, and to top it all off: on our way out, the head chef - Pedro Lemos himself - came out to say "hello." This is what I call a perfect experience.

Google
Excellent service that you would expect from a mission rated restaurant. I would say the service quality is more akin to three Michelin stars than one. We did the eight moments set course. It was delicious. For a one Michelin star restaurant I would say this exceeded expectations. If this was a three Michelin star restaurant I would say it's below expectations. One of the appetizers (with the spider crab) was amazing, and the squab and squid dishes were fantastic. The lobster and red snapper dishes were good but not special. However, The restaurant is intimate and fancy. However, it was also a bit boring and lacked energy. Loud the music was very slow. I wouldn't expect loud music or a bustling atmosphere, but it was very much on the low energy. Overall, we had a very nice experience.

Best meal of my life! Best service in the world! I’ve eaten at many internationally renown restaurants in many big cities, and this is by far THE best! Service, atmosphere, whole comfortable experience.

Google
The dining experience at Pedro Lemos' Porto riverfront location exceeded expectations on all fronts when we tried their 7-course tasting menu. Truly exceptional execution all around, a Michelin Star well-deserved!

Google
Wow! Pedro Lemos was recommended to us by a friend we took the recommendation without looking into what we were about to experience. As we walked in we told the manager that greeted us about the friend's recommendation and she replied, "that must be a good friend" and proceeded to hype us up for a fantastic experience!! We had the 8 course tasting menu (they do 6, 8, and a vegetarian tasting) with a wine pairing. The menu wanders through traditional Portuguese flavors with modern techniques and presentations. The menu changes with the seasons, but the foie gras has been on the menu since they opened in 2009. The texture of the foie is perfectly smooth and whoever prepares it is a master. Finally the cheese and honey dessert they served us was one of the best dishes I have ever had.... The location is in a very cool old building in a safe neighborhood, and the entire staff was super fun to hang out with and eat their art!!!!

Google
PHENOMENAL EXPERIENCE. Birthday dinner was a success. Food, service, and atmosphere is why it rightfully has its Michelin backing. Pictures don’t do it justice Food: Chef Pedro’s understanding of sauce and flavor profiles comes out in every dish. Each item on your plate is able to shine in its own light, while intertwining with the rest of the dish to bring you a masterful experience be in each bite. Also the vegetarian tasting menu (partner is vegetarian) is a unique option for fine dining and did not disappoint- one of her all time favorites Service: every single member of the team worked in lockstep to make sure you were taken care of from the moment you walk in. Celebrated my birthday here and they went above and beyond. Atmosphere: intimate experience, comfortable seats, great decor. Would gladly go again, night after night.

Google
Celebrated our anniversary in Porto with an extraordinary 12-course dining experience at Pedro Lemos after months on the waiting list. It was absolutely worth it! The food was superb, the ambiance magnificent, and the service outstanding. Definitely one of the best Michelin-starred restaurants we’ve ever experienced! 🌟✨ highly recommended!

Yelp
What an experience to say the least. My friend and I are traveling abroad and selected a nice dinner spot for our last night in Porto. The food with every round of food was significantly amazing, it is a culinary experience tailored to my very specific diet. The team's service was to be truly amazed for, they adjusted the menu for myself as a vegetarian and I am excited to return during my next trip to Porto. If you have the opportunity make sure to give this Michelin Star restaurant a visit on your trip.

Yelp
Recommended by our tour guide. Made reservations on their website and received email confirmation right away. We had to take a taxi because it was out of the center of town. We were seated promptly. There are only 8 tables upstairs. They started us with 3 complimentary appetizers- fried oyster, duck in a crisp shell, and quail egg truffle "macaron". All 3 were absolutely delicious. The rest of the meal was also excellent. The only dish I didn't love was the squab which is because I'm sensitive to gamey meat. My friend didn't notice at all. All of the sauces were really delicious and not too strong or heavy. The complimentary Madeline at the end was easily the best I've ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have a nice meal in Porto.

Yelp
An incredible dinner in this beautiful neighborhood. We did 6 course option with every course wowing all 6 of us. Service, Sommelier and Chef deserve huge praise for everything

Yelp
OVERRATED! Small portions, too salty or over cooked. Service was lacking and management was very rude when we complained about the long wait even though we had reservations. And then they pressured us to leave for the next table waiting. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

Yelp
This is my third Michelin star rated restaurant in Portugal and although it is 1 star..it is better than both of the other two star we've been to. Great service, great presentation, simple and chic venue, and of course, amazing food. Everthing you'd expect from a Michelin star rated restaurant. The wine pairing is a must and by far creative yet subtle tastes Portugal has to offer in an exquisite compilation. Please do come experience the craft at Pedro Lemons!!

Yelp
We wanted to go to a Michelin star restaurant while in Porto and were deciding between the restaurant at the Yeatman and Pedro Lemos, and went with PL. 20 minute uber ride from Aliados ave - very easy to call Uber for the way back. Service was phenomenal and the food was incredible. We went on new year's day so tasting menu was the only option available - got me to try things I wouldn't normally eat like foie gras. My absolute favorite was the tuna but loved all the dishes. This is the place to go for an occasion or just a very nice dinner. Also, they emailed us the following day offering to book a tasting with a Madeira winery they serve wine from because we told the waiter we were visiting Madeira on our trip. Truly exceptional service

Yelp
On vacation in Porto and following a very good news that we received my wife and I, we decided to celebrate in a starred restaurant. So I used the TheFork app to find and reserve a table on August 25 at Pedro Lemos. Once there, the Uber driver and we found the restaurant closed, while it was listed open on TheFork, Google Maps and Tripadvisor, the driver also noticed on his phone that the restaurant was listed as open. Very disappointed, we returned to the hotel and celebrated in a great, unpretentious little restaurant. The driver was lovely to us by the way and apologized for the restaurant, what a shame. A few days later, I discover that my credit card has been debited from 170 €, I write to the support of TheFork which explains to me after almost 10 days, that it is about a "No show" that is to say that the restaurant indicated that we did not go to our reservation. It's very simple, the reservation was actually confirmed for August 31st and not August 25th. I happened to have noticed this a few days before, and tried to cancel the reservation without success, I just had an endless loading wheel. I didn't look any further, not knowing (or at least forgot) that TheFork had imprinted my credit card and that charges could be applied in such a case ... big mistake. I then contacted TheFork and the restaurant who did not want to know. To put it simply, the answer was that since we didn't show up on August 31st, we lose the € 170 (which is no small amount). No voucher, no negotiations possible, nothing. After telling the restaurant that I found this unfair and that I was therefore going to share this bad experience on the internet, I was simply entitled to a threat of legal action. I found that just lamentable, and especially from a Michelin-starred restaurant. Our experience with this establishment therefore remains a more than bitter experience, and has somewhat spoiled the image we had of Porto (even if it's stupid to think like that, we are aware of it, but the pill is frankly hard to swallow). We are disappointed with the way LaFourchette handled the situation, clearly placing himself on the side of the restaurant by washing his hands of this story (the restaurant also allowed itself to put in cc in the emails, employees of TheFork, history to send us a clear message that we are not going to see our money again). We are very disappointed with the behavior, communication and mismanagement of this restaurant which was indicated as being open on August 25, 2021. We would have avoided the uber round trip, unnecessary and disappointment, and above all we would have immediately noticed the technical bug on the reservation of the application. We were on vacation, I wanted to take a break from the emails, and I didn't read the little line in the email that says you can be charged $ 170. I should have insisted on going through the reservation cancellation process and tried again at another time. For that, I admit my mistake, when I saw that there was a bug I should have made sure that the reservation had indeed been canceled, but I could not imagine what was going to happen. In short, of course we closed our TheFork account, deleted the application and it is obvious that we will never eat at Pedro Lemos's. Beyond the loss of money, what I criticize most about the restaurant is the way they treated us by phone and email. It was cold, condescending, and the restaurant didn't care about us and the situation. In the end, they got 170 € effortlessly, which is good for them.

Yelp
Michelin starred restaurant did not disappoint. Impeccable service from the reservation by email as to the reception, service and delicacy and attention. We opted for the 5 course tasting menu with wines. There is a precise menu selected where you can choose the entree, main courses and desserts that please you or leave the chef's will. We were presented with 2 tastings before we started dinner properly. The first was an entree of buffalo muzarella with roasted tomatoes and tomato sauce. The second pork of the Alentejo delicious, melted in the mouth. Starting then dinner the first entree was one of my favorite dishes: Caramelized Foie Gras on thin dried fruit bread and roasted apple chutney. The second entry was a prawn with mushrooms among them trumpet of death. The first main course was steak, pure mashed potatoes, celery and mushrooms. The second meat of Imperial Pigeon with Foie Gras, fennel and roast sauce (I did not imagine I could eat it. The meat looks like a liver in taste plus texture and more pleasant). Before they served the dessert they presented us again with a sorbet of strawberry, vodka and basil. And the dessert closed with a golden key: São Tomé's black chocolate with blue cheese ice cream and roasted pear. An explosion of flavors! And when we thought that we would not have any more surprises, they presented us at the exit with the menu that we tasted along with The Wines on a roll of elegantly decorated paper

Yelp
A1 service. The place was amazing, in the cutest little street in the middle of Foz. Only 11 tables available and we were lucky enough to get a table during lunch time. We had the 8 course menu and they were incredibly accommodating with our likes and sillies. Also their wine selection! Don't get me started! Amazing! All topped by the warmth and charisma of the waiters.

Yelp
If there is one fancy place you want to try in Porto then this is the place. The food is absolutely delicious, inventive. The restaurant is incredibly accommodating. Portions are reasonable and generous for this type of multi course tasting. Foods are local and are a great homage to Portuguese produce and local foods. Their wine pairing is amazing. We loved the fresh shrimp, perfectly seared tuna from the Azores, meagre white fish, fois Grois, etc. Let's not forget their unforgettable desserts, our favorite being their life like home made citron fruit made of white chocolate shell with an almond cake/tart lemon mousse surprise inside. And of course like all Michelin restaurants, their service was attentive, anticipating, and accommodating. Cannot have a more enjoyable dining experience. Pro tip: ring the doorbell on the right before desperately trying to pull and push the door. Pro pro tip: you absolutely need a reservation for this place so plan ahead and will require a credit card.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful. The restaurant is in a nice part of Porto on a quiet street. The restaurant has two levels and the staff is so very accommodating. We did the tasting menu and it was a fantastic experience. The seafood was so fresh and cooked to perfection. Best part of this menu is that the portions for each course is actually quite large so we left completely full. Loved it.

Yelp
This would be 3.5 stars if I could, but as the food was so great I will give it 4 but I actually wanted to subtract stars as it was such a ponderous evening. There was something very disquieting about our dinner at Pedro Lemas; actually several somethings. One could never, never quibble about the food--you could not do better preparation-wise or taste-wise. Everything was delicious. And I was somewhat prepared for the formality of the restaurant, or so I thought. I had read a lot about Porto restaurants and saw Pedro Lemas mentioned so often I knew we had to eat there, but I could not access the menu through their website or any website. So I had no real preconceptions. But being on vacation in lovely Portugal and having eaten already at many great places we were not prepared for not only the formality of PL but the sheer weight of eating there. Nowhere had I seen mentioned the enormous commitment of TIME it would take to eat there-- our meal stretched 3 1/2 hours, and not by our choice. There seemed to be a deliberate effort to stretch the courses longer and longer, with pre-amuse bouches and amuse bouches; post-main sorbets and wine pourings. The price was a surprise too, as I had never, as said above, been able to access a menu online-- well over €125 a person (we chose the 5 course tasting menu)....and I have absolutely no issue with paying big €€€€ for a great dinner. But the meal was just....ponderous. The servers wore gloves, changed silverware every one of 7 or 8 courses (including the amuses), choreographed the servings with flourishes and explanations..... we are NYCers and pretty well-travelled but this was just .....a drag. I found myself antsy by the main courses and itching to get out before dessert, and I was one of a party of six who all concurred. We practically jumped on the waiter by dessert to bring the bill (we politely waited until then) and actually, passed on our (included) after-dinner wines because it was almost 1AM and we were so antsy. If it had been a lively atmosphere, or more fun, we would have enjoyed lingering. But we found the formality oppressive and more important, not fun. It totally detracted from the food.

Yelp
It was my first Michelin star experience, so I expected a lot out of this restaurant. I live in Los Angeles, I am a foodie and I traveled the world and know what good food and good service is. First of all it took 80 min to get our appetizers, I understand that in Portugal everything is very laid back and slow, but in 80 min they kept bringing us bread and then they offered us more bread and some more bread. When we finally got our food, I wished I was still eating bread! The food was so salty, it was 4 of us, so we each had an opinion, and each got something different, everything we got was so salty that I could never believe that you could damage food so much with salt! I couldn't sleep all night, I woke up bloated, and couldn't stop drinking water! I would never ever recommend this place to my friends, not for food, or decor...waiters yes, they were considerate and worried that our experience was not reaching up a Michelin star level. I would not recommend this place or would not go back to it

Yelp
Amazing food that makes you feel connected (even for a few brief moments) to the area. It gives an imaginative new twist on the established tradition. The pigeon dish was simply divine. The desserts to die for (and I am not a dessert lover). The service was impeccable starting from host coming out and offering to take our picture when he saw my husband and I taking pictures outside and ending with the offer to call us a taxi. Must visit!!

Yelp
Finest restaurant that I experienced in Porto! We had the tasting menu with the wine pairings and it was beyond spectacular. The wine pairings were unique and included some 1990s vintages of Douro Valley wines. The atmosphere is beautiful and they have a wonderful outdoor rooftop patio (covered, so no sun) which is where we chose to dine. The service was absolutely perfect as well. I highly recommend this restaurant and will absolutely return on my next trip to Porto!
