Yelp
Yelp has helped me find a lot of great eateries over the years, but if I've learned anything, Yelpers definitely have a blind spot for pizza.
Peels on Wheels wasn't terrible, and I'd give it 3 stars if not for the way too high price point, inconvenient hours and ordering system, and worst of all - BURNT CRUST.
Want to show up on a whim and grab a slice? Nope. Only during lunch, and only if they have any left. Want to stop by and grab a pizza without ordering ahead? No way, they'll likely be out or you're waiting over an hour. Also, better follow them on social media to make sure they're actually open or not on a weeks long Holiday somewhere.
Those issues aside, with the rave reviews here and elsewhere I still had to try it so after one previous attempt to score pizza here, we tried again. This time we ordered ahead and made a special trip up.
The pizza was on the bland side and the crust was overly charred and completely inedible. The sides and sandwich we ordered were decent, but again not worth the trip or inconvenience of eating in the car since there's no seating. That's not their fault though that we're not local, so I don't count that against them.
Why a 2 star review if at least some of the food is decent? Because I strongly believe the "burnt crust is cool" trend in pizza is one that needs to end. I don't know why I see so many people pretending to enjoy burnt crust on pizza. I know there's differences in opinion, but I refuse to believe there are taste buds out there engineered to enjoy charred, black pizza crust. It's gross. Quit it.
