Das BBQ and PMA Coffee Shop Are Opening in Midtown at 12th and Everything on Piedmont Avenue | Eater Atlanta

"A neighborhood-focused coffee shop led by a local barista/entrepreneur and serving beans from a North Carolina roaster, seasonal drinks, and pastries and baguettes sourced from a local baker. Located at the front of the 1086 Piedmont building, the shop will be integrated into the larger shared seating and rooftop program, is positioned to coexist with the on-site skate shop, and is intended to offer an independent alternative to the many chain cafés in the Midtown area." - Sarra Sedghi

Google
It’s time to finally leave a review for this disasters location. The service is terrible. I’ve been coming here for about 4 years and the quality and service have declined drastically. There is not one barista that knows how to make a proper drink especially mocha, macchiato and white mochas are the worst from here. They also never have dome lids. They will tell you not for the small cups but even if you order a medium or large if the barista feels like placing a dome lid they will. All the staff are lazy. I’ve found blonde hair in my pastries before. Today was the last straw. The mocha they made looks gross. The whip cream is oozing out of the top. This location really needs to revamp their overall operations.

Google
Nation wide, locally owned coffee chain. Rivals Starbucks in size, set up, options and feel. They are on every corner in this area and serve a decent cup of coffee.

Google
Had a bad experience here with their service. Very understaffed on a Saturday morning (one barista is not enough), and I waited 35 minutes for a simple latte. I asked about my order and was told “just a few minutes”, then 10 minutes later I asked again and STILL had to wait another 10 minutes. I saw many people order after me and get the same drinks first so either they lost my order and lied to me, or they seriously need to work on their ordering system.

Good seating for a small coffee shop. Everything you need to plug in🔌, log on 💻, relieve yourself 🚽🧻, and enjoy ☕️. I wish it was open late.

I’ve never had the urge to leave a review at a Peets Coffee shop before. I just had the most amazing experience. I bought a Chemex drip coffee maker along with some filters and two bags of coffee. At first I wasn’t sure what to buy, luckily I happened to come across one of the most knowledgeable coffee connoisseurs I’ve ever met. I was super impressed with their knowledge, conversational skills, and how patient they were with me. I have auditory issues sometimes and they made me feel extremely comfortable even though there were moments I had trouble understanding or comprehending certain things that were being said. I don’t remember their name unfortunately but I do remember that they had a blue shirt on and they were very kind. If you know who I am talking about they definitely deserve a raise as they seem to be a key employee. Everyone else seemed equally as nice that was working there but this individual really stood out to me. If I ever am able to remember their name I’ll update this post.

Google
This is your typical Peet’s, with the exception of covered pasties, which is a definite plus. If the flies land, they will land on the Saran Wrap and not your food. The baristas weren’t all that friendly but not all the way rude either.

Abraham R.

Google
My favorite Peet’s to take my real estate clients in between showings. The best coffee and a great atmosphere.

Casburn S.

Google
The store has coffee here, unlike any other I've tasted. Smooth and bursting with flavor, I had black coffee, and my girlfriend had a caramel macchiato—what a taste! It's worth coming back for more.

Yelp
Since this coffee chain started on the West Coast and has maintained their original corporate values, I support their location nearby. The staff creates a local experience worthy of review too! They are usually pleasant and helpful. This month I stopped in this Peet's on a hotter day to try the new lavender vanilla latte iced. And then I saw the Pride sugar cookie. Delish! The outside seating on the side of the cafe facing a side street is cozy, the space allowing just a handful or so of people to hang out there. Chain celebrating local vibe here.

Yelp
Nothing fancy about this location and almost prefer this spot over the other coffee spots along Piedmont. Staff friendly, efficient, and make a delicious latte. Space is clean with a warm vibe. No complaint the times I've visited as rarely visit during peak times in the morning. Best way is to order via their app.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Peet's is going down the drain They can not keep the outside chairs available and it takes forever if one is broken or missing. You would think a company which makes billions of dollars would provide better service.
google avatar

King K.

Yelp
Super friendly staff workers, came in to pick somebody's order up real early in the morning and was yawning because I was still tired. One of the employees noticed and offered me a coffee to jumpstart my day, which I really appreciated

Yelp
Nathan was great!!!! He kept his cool while dealing with a very disruptive and disrespectful customer!!! The patience and calm he exemplified was that I myself couldn't do and I salute him for that! I will continue to come to Peets although I hate the prices for just a simple cup of coffee.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Their seasonal fiery mocha was nice, just a hint of spice and bitterness, not too sweet. I tried the ripple plant-based barista milk (extra $1), and I felt like it didn't really impact the flavors, but I know it has more protein so it might have made the drink more nutritious. Probably wouldn't pay $7 for a small coffee again, but it was tasty. I had to wait about 20 minutes to order when I went around 7:30 in the morning, but the drink came out in a few minutes. Free WiFi and plenty of seating were a plus.
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice Peet's coffee. Service was fast and friendly. For a couple dollars. Dining room seemed relatively clean.
google avatar

Loella D.

Yelp
The Piedmont location is great for having a quick drink with a friend, or a stop when you're running errands on College Ave. It has a cozy vibe and the layout is smaller than other locations, because of this I'm not sure it would be great to do work or studying in. I've seen it busy on early weekends but never too crowded and they've never lagged on drinks. The service reliably good here. The location isn't ideal when it comes to parking but it's close to all the shops. I like getting an oat chai latte with cinnamon on top!
google avatar

Bebe J.

Yelp
Terrible cashier and barista. You would think people working at a coffee shop would kno what they're doing. Cashier could not understand the concept of a white peppermint hot chocolate. Once I went over it with him multiple times he rang me up. I ordered the hot drink and one shot over ice. What I got was a cold white mocha. I told the barista hey, I want a peppermint hot chocolate. She then pushed the COLD drink towards me, rolled her eyes and said yes that's it. She then bickered with me that is a peppermint hot chocolate!! lol!! Again. HOT Chocolate. Not chocolate milk. Finally the wheels began to turn in her head. Then I said where's my shot over ice? Cashier didn't understand that either. The barista passively aggressively says to the cashier. Ring her up for the shot. As if I'm trying to get over on a 3 dollar drink. Lastly I get my drinks and my hot chocolate is lukewarm. I didn't have anything left in me to go on about the drink. As I sit down I can hear the barista talking shi7 about me. Find another line of work hun. I get its Xmas eve. It's Xmas eve for me too. Basically be aware of the girl with curly hair. Anything other than a latte she might not get.

Yelp
We were checking out a new place on Piedmont Avenue that was down the street from this Peet's. Yep, we needed some coffee and tea to keep us going so we stopped in and ordered a couple of cups. Service was good. There were at least four employees that we saw, one cashier, one barista, one person taking care of tea and brewed coffee orders and one other employee that may have been either a supervisor or off duty. While there was only one customer ahead of us ordering, the barista was backed up with orders. She appeared to be working efficiently and happily with a smile on her face and while the espresso was steaming, constantly wiping down her station to keep it clean. Our drinks came out fine and the wait wasn't a big deal. However, if the unknown employee was a supervisor, he should have helped get the orders out. If he was off duty, it would be best for him not to be behind the counter.

Yelp
I am fully committed to Peet's. Very loyal. This Peet's was dirty. Wrappers, napkins, drops of coffee on counter. Half-n-half was empty. Clerk-in-training was left alone - took person about 5 tries to enter my request for beans and a splash of coffee. Despite saying I just need a "splash" just to warm me up, I got a full cup and wasted 2/3 of it. Employees could be more Professional all around. Seems like a lot of shouting from registers to bean counter and back.
google avatar

Al L.

Yelp
Was running low on my Peet's coffee. Since I was in the Piedmont area, I decided to stop by this location for some beans. Staring at the fresh roasted beans board, the worker asked if I needed help. I told her I wanted to get some beans and try some new varieties of beans. She asked the varieties that I've tried and she suggested several for me to try. I ended getting the Guatemala San Sebastian and Garuda Blend. Appreciate the time the worker spent with me in narrowing my choices of beans. Great customer service. Now, I'm looking forward to my next drip of these new beans.

Yelp
I consider this location my neIghborhood Peet's, if you will. While Blue Bottle came to the block recently, Piedmont Ave as a general trend as has been losing coffee shops (Gaylord's being the latest - which is unfortunate, as they were the sole non-chain affiliated cafe around), but I really hope this Peet's location can hang on. The barista team here are friendly and 9 out of 10, deliver on the strong coffee & espressos that Peet's is known for. Only thing I miss right now is not being able to claim my table-of-the-day here on those random weekends and people watch, while also feeling the fuzzies from long-time locals who hang out at this neighborhood gathering spot.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
The girls who work here are sweet and I like coming in before work, not a bad place to start the day. I normally go across the street for my coffee but they don't open til 7 so I come here.

Linda T.

Yelp
I ordered coffee from Peet's on Piedmont Avenue for fifty people. The servers had my coffee waiting at the time I had designated and well as cups, creamer, utensils, napkins in a bag. It was perfect. I will return!

J P.

Yelp
Got my usual of a to go latte and sea salt chocolate chip cookie (warmed). The latte tasted great and woke me up, the cookie is pretty big, was warmed to just the right temperature and satisfied my chocolate craving. Other nice things: good amount of seating (but it gets crowded, so it will probably be usually hard to get a seat), music isn't too loud, bathroom was clean and doesn't need a code and baristas are friendly. I haven't stayed here to work yet, so can't comment on how their wifi is. Over all a pretty good Peet's location.
google avatar

Joseph N.

Yelp
Been coming here every day for a simple black coffee and sometimes a baked good. Usually smooth - I just order via the app and try to arrive at the tail end of the provided ETA range on the app. Sometimes I'll have to wait a bit, but it's fine. The staff is friendly. Warning, it can get really busy in the morning. And a bit chaotic because of social distancing. If it's busy, people will have to wait outside because of the customer limit inside the store. So I definitely recommend ordering through the app, so you can just grab and go. Oh, and if you pay by app, you frequently get free drinks because of Peet's rewards. Even more reason to just order through the app!
google avatar

David U.

Yelp
Peet's is by far and away the best major chain coffee you can get. Why would you ever do Starbucks when there's a Peet's?
google avatar

Kyshia M.

Yelp
This cozy Peet's location only has street metered parking and is located on a very busy street, not too far from the Rockridge Bart Station. With that being said patience is a virtue with both parking and ordering once inside. The line was fairly long and they only had three people working. It was a mid week, mid day stop for me so I was surprised to see not an empty seat inside. They have two order stations like all others but you have to pay attention as to which line you are in. When I was the there the staff wasn't very helpful with discovering the right line to stand in. The store is kept clean nonetheless and the room temperature was nice!
google avatar

Lena S.

Yelp
The staff was kind of unpleasant. The food was fine, but it is such a bummer to come and get an iced tea and have an unpleasant experience.
google avatar

Bay_Area 2.

Yelp
A very rich cup of coffee for this windy morning also orderd a hot latte very delicious with a lemon cake or a conchita mexican bread
google avatar

Jamee S.

Yelp
They know how to make a cappuccino!!! I ordered ahead via the mobile app which I would use more if baristas know how to make them dry. I've had to ask for cappuccinos remade because a lot of baristas make them lattes telling me it's the same thing except with more foam. Nope! Wrong. So this Peet's branch made it RIGHT!!! I ordered it dry and my cup of java was perfect! The cup was light. Not heavy. Thank you, Piedmont Peet's!!!
google avatar

Ellie O.

Yelp
This location rocks !! Staff are lovely , all welcoming and just plain friendly . Peet's , always a classic , such good coffee . This location is staffed well . Yelp
Dear Suzan or Susan (Karen), Your attitude towards customer is not acceptable. I am not mad what you told me to cover up my mask because you have the right too and everyone must put on mask at all time. However, I am more concerned about your attitude because you are extremely rude o me. You are definitely not a friendly person and not approachable. I've worked in customer service for 20+ years including restaurants to healthcare, I never make customers feel less or more. I always treat everyone with respect regardless of who they are or what they are. Your mistake is simple--learn how to talk to customer nicely because (1) you need to realize that every customer is not the same: meaning your customers come from all backgrounds, religions or cultures. So when you talk to customer, even if you think is ok but what if the way they interpret your tone they may think you are rude and your attitude shows them you don't like them. (2) when talking to customer greet them and show more enthusiasm vs angry face because you gonna understand customer is always right (I don't recall the drink I ordered last time but luckily the guy that made my drink was there so he knows) and you don't assume or say your store don't have that drink. If you don't know or if this drink looks similar to what your store offer you should recommend that instead. Vanilla cooler from the Midwest is very popular and what your store has is very similar and the guy that made my drink last time he even know what he ingredients are. (3) work on your attitude Karen. You are not a friendly and approachable person. If you don't like working with customers don't work there. You need to work on your customer service skill and please if customers are waiting for bathroom a couple feet away from the door or way far from cashier you don't tell them to step back. (4) I want chicken & waffle sandwich--I know there is cheese inside the sandwich but there is also cheese outside and I asked to remove the cheese from outside. You don't need to give me the attitude and walk away like that. This will be my first and my last time going there and I hope your manager will give you some good lesson on how to talk to customers.

Al M.

Yelp
Came here to get a quick coffee, and while nobody was in line when I arrived, I ended up waiting about ten minutes and getting my drinks at the same time as the most recent customer who showed up and left at the same time as me.
google avatar

Finn L.

Yelp
I am not writing this review out of anger, but rather in the hopes that someone at this location sees this so that they can avoid these situations moving forward. My girlfriend placed an order online at 8:15am. I arrived there 15 minutes after ordering. I was in no rush and having a slow paced morning. I saw there were 5 drinks ready for pick up in the online pick up area. None were for me, but not a problem as I was in no rush. I waited 10 more minutes. I noticed that there were new online orders coming in and being made, so I thought maybe there was a mistake and I am just going to check in. The manager seemed really stressed out and was telling one of the baristas what to do in a frantic manner. I was under the impression either he was new or she was overwhelmed or possibly both, but there was no mutual respect between the two. I understand that it's a tough industry and everyone's trying their best. It didn't seem crazy busy, there were maybe 5 or 6 other customers inside and the barista was hanging at the cash register with no one in line. I asked him about the order and he seemed friendly and said he would take a look. He went and spoke to his manager who then proceeded to tell me with a raised voice "we never got your order!" I told her that I placed my order 25 minutes ago, and she said "well we don't have it." It would have been nice, especially as a manager, to just start with an acknowledgment or apology or offer a solution: "really sorry about that, can you tell me what your order was and I'll get it done as quick as I can, can you wait 10 more minutes?" I was down to wait for another 10-15 minutes, as it was my day off and I was in no rush. Instead I walked away from the situation and went home. I got home and my girlfriend checked if she made the mistake of not placing the order. She has the order confirmation and her bank account was charged for the coffee. It's not the first time I've had a bad experience there. It just seems poorly managed and the service flow/system they have in place seems inefficient. I hope they can figure that stuff out, but the baseline standard for customer service needs to and can be be improved.
google avatar

Lane B.

Yelp
I ordered a small hot oolong, but because they were out of stock of the bagged oolong, I was charged an additional 35 cents for loose leaf. To be clear, I don't care about the extra 35 cents. What I do care about is that no one seemed to understand or care that they were charging me for something I had had no choice but to order. I hope that the experience I had tonight does not happen again.
google avatar

Adriano C.

Yelp
Terrible service today 08/24/2021 at 4:15pm. there were 2 attendants (an Asian woman and a black guy) in the cafeteria and I was very poorly attended by the 2 who didn't even say it was my order, letting my coffee get cold on the table. I'm disappointed in this peets unit.

Cindy L.

Yelp
Coffee's good. It's annoying as hell, though, to wait, and wait, and WAIT for a coffee ordered 10 minutes ago and counting, while orders placed in advance are filled and get cold waiting for people who aren't here to pick them up. Thirteen people are waiting for orders.... Maybe find another way of filling advance orders and take care of the people who are here NOW.
google avatar

T W.

Yelp
I have to agree with other reviewers- little slow at around 8:50 AM given staff to customer ratios. Not organized well. Ordered 2 hot drinks and a pound of coffee. Drinks came out ok but coffee wasn't prepared until I asked for it. If I have placed an order and paid it should just be done. I'm pretty easy going and understand that things are not easy but given the computerized system I should not have to ask for items on my order.
google avatar

FoodLover F.

Yelp
I love Peet's coffee and enjoyed my cup today. I asked for soy milk to add and they gave me the whole box. I also ordered iced tea and was perplexed it was taking a long time. Were they brewing the tea? Then I noticed customers, that arrived way after us, were getting their tea right away I finally asked. Where's our tea? She said I didn't order it. I said, well you charged me for it She had the blankest look. Then she says, oh the new girl didn't tell me properly (but we saw her tell her) It was weird. She then brought us the tea in less than minute. Cause it's pretty easy to put ice and tea in a cup and hand it to a customer. We walked here from MacArthur bart then we took the 51a bus to rockridge bart
google avatar

Lucy S.

Yelp
Friendly and quick service. I forgoy my wallet one day and the barista hooked it up. I was so grateful and relieved.
google avatar

Shawna P.

Yelp
You'd think they Might have figured out their system. Y now. Definitely order mobile unless you want to wait 25 minutes for an americano.

Wanugee N.

Yelp
I like this coffee house on Piedmont Avenue more than the Starbucks just down the street. You know Starbuck's started from Peets. They study them and then went to Seattle and made everything sweeter, and the rest is history. Ever notice that Starbuck's makes everything very sweet? Check the calories on that last specialty drink they are pimping, or your favorite caramel machiatto thing. You may be shocked. Pete's is more about the Coffee than the Sweetner. Their coffee is stronger and well, more coffee like. I also prefer Peet's Classical baroque music that most Peet's play, over Starbuck's pimping the latest lame CD at the counter and over the speakers. For Peet's sake, I guess the average Starbucks drinker doesn't download iTunes or Google Play songs, they still buy CD's? The lighting and seating set-up here is a little better for laptop time, too.
google avatar

Katherine F.

Yelp
Small, but it fit the bill early last Friday morning in a downpour. Hubby was at Kaiser, and I need to get coffee, a snack and be a laptop camper for awhile (Kaiser's WiFi is deplorable) Got the goodies and found a spot at the bar looking onto the street. Spent a good while there...it was a perfect spot. It is well known I am a big *Peetnick* going back to my late teenage years. I love their coffee, and they have a good selection of snacks. Fast and friendly service was much appreciated.
google avatar

Annmarie L.

Yelp
Once again, my small drip coffee just sat under the dispenser for ages. I got my coffee 15 minutes after the due time only because I finally said something. Sometimes they can pour a cup of coffee in 5 minutes, sometimes not. I give up.
google avatar

Victor G.

Yelp
Peet's is becoming my fav coffee chain. (besides hometown peerless). the house coffee has yet to disappoint me. doesn't hurt that they rotate their house coffee daily.... noticed they have sammies, salads now. brew: (house, m.2) -smooth, bold, nonacidic, yum! -short line, in and out within 5 minutes -2 or was it 3 cashiers on duty.
google avatar

Tirzah G.

Yelp
Worst customer service EVER! Went in today and was asked what I wanted by three different staff members. All we wanted was a regular coffee and it took approximately 5 minutes and 3 employees to get it for us. There were 6 employees behind the counter and yet they still had a hard time getting a regular coffee? Then to top off the incompetence they were surly as they gave us the coffee. I said thank you and they were silent. Kindness and courtesy go a long way. I miss the Peets that used to be, with great customer service and competent employees. This store needs training in customer service.
google avatar

Kathleen W.

Yelp
The lines here are crazy on the weekends ... but the baristas are fast and know what they are doing. I remember when coffee used to be a treat and only consumed for those extra tough days. Now I have to drink the stuff just to string 2 words together. I still like Starbucks blueberry muffins more though. I got to enjoy my coffee with some cookies from Bakesale Betty's while watching the men-folk arrange furniture in Tetris-like shapes. Thank god for Peets, it gave me the energy to help move some boxes and pillows around and enough self control not to tackle the Move Commissioner. P.S. Juicy, it was not I who broke your bed.
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
Please hire more people and have better management of mobile v in store drink orders. Waiting over 10 minutes for a drink is unacceptable. I love your coffee and the baristas are kind, understand it is unprecedented times but the wait makes me want to not come here ever again.
google avatar

S H.

Yelp
I started to come to the original Pete's coffee shop in Walnut Square. I was a freshman at UC Berkeley. I have been coming to this Peet's coffee store since 2002. I would say this is my second favorite location. The store has Great air-conditioning. The staff are very friendly. The noise level is very low so that you can relax and be alone or converse with friends. And this store is located In the center of Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. It has the charm of Piedmont with the reality of Oakland. I like it a lot. It is user-friendly for seniors, adults, adolescents and children. At anytime of the day you can see at least two or three generations of local people having a coffee break. This store has all the good traditions from the original Peet' store.
google avatar

Anita W.

Yelp
I think Peets is way better than Starbucks because the coffee is stronger in aroma and flavor! I went to this location a couple times, and had good experiences with the staff. The patrons, meh... let's just say they're anxious for their coffee fixes. I wish they'd use real pumpkin for their pumpkin spiced lattes instead of pumpkin syrup..

Bill S.

Yelp
The wait was 25 minutes this morning. at 9 a.m. People were walking out muttering, even giving up on mobile orders. The staff was laughing, talking among themselves, and excessively chatting with customers despite the lines and waits. Do they simply not care that people have to go to work? Why are they so disrespectful of people's time? It could be great if Peets could put a solid manager in this high-volume location that could have the staff keep up with the workflow.
google avatar

Clare H.

Yelp
I used to live coming here until I asked for a small dry cap and the light skinned person of color with the snarky attitude made it. I asked him to remake it because what he was giving me was a latte with foam. Of course it was my fault and he treated me like it was. I wished I had gone to the Peets on Lakeshore where they know how to make a dry cap without hatred running through their veins and a snarky attitude
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
The coffee is good, but this coffee shop is kind of slow, at least compared with the Peets' on Spear Street in SF. I would boost my rating from 3 to 5 stars if they speed up service and if they start offering light roast.
google avatar

Tam F.

Yelp
I have been to this Peet's several times over the years as it is close to Oakland Kaiser. On the day of Toni's knee replacement surgery, I walked over from the waiting room and got a latte for both myself and my Dad and a cup of decaf for Toni's BFF, Nina who was waiting with us. Service was friendly and efficient and it was the perfect pick-me-up from an afternoon of waiting. The only thing I will say is it is a bit of a trek with more than 1 drink in hand and stupid me forgot the drink carrier!

Yelp
I enjoy Peet's Coffee and Tea but I do not enjoy this particular store on Piedmont anymore. A few weeks ago, I was up way earlier than normal and we had no coffee in the house. I offered to my boyfriend that I'd run out and get some coffee. Usually, I'll go to Peet's on Shellmound where they are extremely friendly and helpful but I chose the Piedmont store that day because I wanted to also get breakfast bagels at Posh Bagel's across the street. So, I go in Peet's, not a huge a line just the baristas filling orders and making coffee. One tells me that someone will be right with me as I waited patiently in the line for whole beans. That was not a problem. When the helper came by, I told him that I wanted two 1lb. bags of Major D, one whole beans and the other grounded. He also asked me if I wanted a cup of coffee, as Peet's offers a free complimentary cup of coffee with a purchase of a 1lb. bag. I said sure and asked if I could have 2 cups of coffee since I was buying two bags of coffee. (Thought it would save me and the bf some time having made coffee.) The helper said no. I thought you get a free coffee with a lb. of coffee and he confirmed that but I just couldn't have two. I said that I can buy them separately then and he said that I wasn't really suppose to do that. I wasn't really trying to argue plus I saw he had a name tag that said he was in training but I just thought that was so lame. I didn't feel like digging in my wallet for the free card I had from my last visit at the Shellmound store so I said, alright I'll get a free coffee and also order a vanilla latte. He asked me how I drank my coffee for the the one bag I needed grounded and I wasn't quite sure since I was buying it for a friend. I told him that and said to just leave it whole and I'll grind it for her if she doesn't have a grinder. Still annoyed by this kid's attitude but keeping cool, he proceeds to tell me that I should really know how I like my coffee before I come in. I'm thinking, "Are you really still talking to me?" He tells me that he will ring me over at the register so I walk over there and he rings me up for the 2 bags of coffee and the vanilla latte. He then turns around and gets my free coffee but places it at the next register. Then he returns my way and looks past me to the customer behind me and asks he could help him. I'm puzzled and I'm still standing there and he looks at me and says, "Oh, do you want a bag?" And I say, "Yes, please." He puts the coffee in a bag and pushed it towards me. I ask him if I can have a receipt. He asks, "You want a receipt?" I tell him yes. (Mainly because I used my debit card and he didn't ask me to sign anything or to punch in any numbers so I just wasn't even sure if the transaction was complete.) He tells the other two working that I need a receipt. I'm asked to move to the next register over. This helper is going through the receipts trying to find mine. She asks, "What'd you order?" I tell her and apologize that I just want my receipt because I don't know if the transaction is complete and she answers, "Yeah that register doesn't print receipts." The next barista over calls out my name because my drink is ready, and I say, just a minute. Call me old fashion, but what happened to saying things like, "Excuse me ma'am, " "I'm sorry" or "Please" and "Thank you" to customers? How about even a smile? These three people looked so unhappy working there. Even if it's early and you hate your job, quit and work somewhere else that will make you happier. The helper finally finds my receipt and asks me to sign it. I do that and I hear my name yelled out again. I walk over to get my drink and I swear to myself, this Peet sucks and I never want to come back to it! I've had several friends in the past work at this store who were great and I've worked on this street for many years in the past and have always came to this branch but they've got it stocked with some mean people who need to learn how to represent the company better. yeah, I was pissed at the answer and attitude I received about not getting a little cup of free coffee but I was more pissed of having to start my early morning off with some bad customer service. I wrote this review today because I went into the Shellmound store and ordered a lb. of coffee. They must have an awesome manager because the staff there is so friendly and helpful every time. I didn't get the free coffee today but they offered a complimentary card for next time on their own and they even ask if you'd like a receipt. When you say yes, they don't give you any attitude. I will not go to Peet's on Piedmont anymore. My 3rd time in a row of bad customer service I don't think was an off day I think it's poor staff training and low employee morale.

Yelp
The first time I ever tried Peets Coffee was at this location. I was so green back then... fresh off the boat from Orange County and so accustomed to Starbucks. Peet kicked my ass. The coffee was like truck-driver strong and it went through me like liquid draino. I think my intestines melted, but have since healed. Peet's...strong enough for a man, not made for this woman.

Yelp
I rarely cheat on Gaylord's but I was here today, just enjoying a hot cup of coffee, friendly barista service, free wi-fi and a great view of Piedmont Ave.
