Best Restaurants to Try on the Drive Between Los Angeles and Las Vegas | Eater LA

"There’s nothing like the nostalgia that comes with a meal at Peggy Sue’s Diner in Yermo, the ultimate jukebox-shaped ’50s-era throwback with television memorabilia and diner classics that haven’t changed much over the decades. The diner is probably the most complete and compelling place to stop for a meal between Los Angeles and Las Vegas; the maximalist retro design alone is worth a stop for mid-century pop culture enthusiasts. The menu is fairly sizeable considering its location in the middle of the desert, featuring classic greasy-spoon breakfasts, tuna and patty melts, a half-pound “King Kong” cheeseburger, and Southern fried chicken for dinner. After the meal, don’t hesitate to roam the grounds beside, where massive metal dinosaur structures and a lake landscape offer post-prandial amusement." - Matthew Kang

The 29 Best Diners in America | Eater

"A kitschy, time-warp roadside attraction on the drive between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, this multi-room '50s-themed diner offers jukebox entrances, mannequins at the counter, and a menu of cheeseburgers, Philly cheesesteaks, fried chicken, short stacks, and ice-cream sundaes. Beyond the food, the oversized Americana décor—including life-size Betty Boop and plastic backyard dinosaurs—makes the stop as much about nostalgia and photo ops as it is about the meal." - Eater Staff

Very cool place with a lot of things to look at. The shakes looked good but i didn't have one. I had the king Kong burger it was pretty dry but the onion rings were tasty they charge almost $4 for a soda so probably settle for the water with your food.

Stepping into this restaurant feels like traveling back in time to the 1950s. From the servers’ outfits to the style of the check, every detail captures the era perfectly. It was such a nice experience to see a place like this in real life, not just in the movies. The food was good, and of course we had to try the pie – definitely worth it. The atmosphere is charming, especially in the original section, which feels authentic and full of character. The newer extension feels a little less natural, but still adds space for the many guests. Be prepared to wait, as it’s very popular and not meant to be fast food – but the overall experience makes it worthwhile. One thing to know: they don’t accept NFC payments, so you’ll need a physical card or cash.

This was our 3rd time stopping in. As truck drivers we appreciate the space to park and eat. First, I love diners so finding one we could park at was the first allure. Second, the ambiance and decor captured my attention. Thirdly, the experience with the customer service and the food has been great with each visit. Personally the pizza was not for me. We did get one to go for us to have later but the food itself has not disappointed. Will continue to stop on when we can.

Peggy Sue's Diner is a delightful step back in time with an authentic 1950s vibe. The food is fresh, delicious, and perfectly complements the nostalgic atmosphere. It's a fun stop for a meal, unique candy, or retro memorabilia shopping. As a woman, I loved the surprising touch in the ladies' bathroom—a quirky highlight! Not sure if the men's room has a similar surprise, but it's worth checking out. Conveniently located, it's the perfect break on the drive to Las Vegas. If you have time, visit Calico Ghost Town just across the street, a mile up the hill—another must-see! Highly recommend!

Big shout out to Danielle! Shes the engine of the place besides the cooks who make the delicious foods. She fills the place up with kindness and good vibes. Food: We ordered ham, eggs and hash. A Veggie omlette with biscuits Dessert as a guilty treat since they're homemade. Strawberry-rhubarb pie. Highly recommend the pie. Would come here again for the diner experience and it's got a cute Park out back with turtles and ducks.

Atmosphere is what it's all about here. Enjoy your time at a 50's diner full of history. Food was delicious, try the root beer float. Service was great, very knowledgeable and accommodating. Stop by...you won't regret it.

Courtney was very kind and welcoming. We had to try some classics, like the Peggy Sue Special and my partner had the Patti Page Patty Melt. Both were delicious. The sides are so good too. The potato salad was tasty. The root beer flow was so good! Nostalgic decor that highlights all of the patrons that have walked through the doors adorn the Diner. Such a historic diner!

Google
You have to go there. A true 50s style diner with all the trimmings. The menu is awesome. I had the Groucho Marx and it may be the best sandwich I ever had. But don't forget to save room for pie. Delicious. Our waitress was amazing. This is a destination with great food.

Yelp
This Restaurant doesn't disappoint, the salad was fresh and for a dinner salad it was very large, The fried chicken was good, super hot, just from the fryer, but needed to be better seasoned kinda bland, but fresh. The mashed potatoes are real, not the packaged stuff. The corn needed butter, salt and pepper. If you order the fried chicken, it will take about an extra 20-25 minutes for it to come out, Diana, our waitress said 30-40 minutes. The staff is very friendly, there are multiple seating areas, so check them all out, also take time to walk the gift shop next door. One HUGE plus for us, NO pets allowed! While we were there a lady walked in with her mutt, not a service dog, and one of the waitress told her that they do NOT allow pets. Thank God, we are so sick of eating with pets in Nevada, this was a welcome change..

Yelp
I had passed this place so many times on road trips, but this is the first time I actually stopped in. My child woke up displeased so I figured it would be a good break for him. They have expanded the space a lot over the years so when you enter there's a lot more rooms beyond what you initially see. The theme is basically nostalgia. Especially 50s Americana. The diner is full of very sweet ladies, and there is ample seating. Beyond that there's a pizza parlor as well, although when I walked through I didn't see anyone eating in that area. The other side of the building has a gift shop and ice cream shop featuring thrifty ice cream. Outside there is some water features, areas for dogs to to stretch their legs, and dinosaur sculptures. The stars I gave are for the wonderful service and the fun and unique vibe of the place. The food at the diner was pretty lackluster. Corn tasted like it was from a can, or heated in a bag from the microwave. Salad was meh. The mash potatoes were so salty. The fish was actually decent. The corn bread was where it really flopped. They were like oh the home made corn bread is so good! It was the worst corn bread I have ever had. I dont know if someone got their salt and sugar mixed up but it was crazy salty. It also was dry and overcooked, literally hard to chew and grainy. I had also ordered a root beer float, and it was a bit more ice cream than I like personally. I like the drink to still be bubbly and lots of generous scoops make it a bit flat for my taste. Overall there's not a lot of options in the area. Maybe a burger would be a safer bet, or the pizza. The outdoor area can be a nice spot to take a break if the weather is pleasant. I would probably stop buy again to give it another chance.

Yelp
We have seen the signs for "world famous " Peggy Sue's diner many times on our drives, and we decided to take the plunge and give it a try this time. We arrived about one hour before closing, and we were seated right away at a booth in one of their dining areas. They have a larger dining area a bit further in as well. The ambiance is sort of cluttered kitsch with a definite retro theme. I kind of got a sense that the place could use a thorough cleaning, but overall it didn't seem too bad. The service is extremely friendly and attentive which was a big plus. I had the meatloaf dinner with a baked potato and side salad and cornbread. The salad arrived first and was basically some lettuce with dressing. This definitely could be improved. The cornbread was OK but was on the dry side and was quite dense. The meatloaf was OK...but...how do you burn meatloaf? The slices were very dark and crisp. Not bad necessarily but not what I expected. The baked potato was good and cooked all the way through. The green beans were fine but mostly tasteless. I had the blueberry pie for dessert. The crust was quite good, but the filling seemed like a canned filling. It was quite gelatinous, and the blueberries were minimal and quite small. It did not have that "homemade" taste. You are given a slip to obtain complimentary candy in the gift shop after dining, but the gift shop was closed when we left. Thus we were unable to redeem this. Overall, the food was fair and the service was good. I'm not sure if we will return, however. We will probably stick to our usual Denny's...

Yelp
We have passed by this place many times and always wanted to stop. This time we had a chance to. Place is bigger than you think. Different dinning rooms with lots of decor. Small gift shop with tons of Knick Knacks something for someone. Outdoor area very relaxing doesn't even seem like a desert. Lots of shade, pond, and mini water fountain. We decided to try the Mickey Mouse sandwich club. That was tasteful and the onion rings you must try they aren't hard and not burnt more like a beer batter. The pastrami I didn't like was too salty and think pieces. Make sure to order side of bbq it was so Smokey great touch to fries. Service was fast and our server kept checking if we were okay. Gave 4 stars because I didn't finish my sandwich I ate the rest of my wife's but would go back to try the breakfast.

Yelp
Wow what a wonderful surprise! On our way to Vegas we saw old billboards for Peggy Sue's and we decided to stop on a whim. Apparently this is a known tourist spot as it was crowded! There were seats available and more room in the back...we sat at the counter. Husband got a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie and coffee. I got a chocolate shake and cup of chili. Diana was our server and she was a gem! We liked it so much we stopped again in our way home. This time we got the grilled cheese, chili fries and chocolate malt...and Diana was our server again. The restaurant is older but it is clean and it is a nice place for a break from the road. Highly recommend

Yelp
Peggy Sue's is an iconic roadside diner, popular among those traveling along the 15 on the way to or from Vegas. It's a large space - full of 50s style memorabilia all over. I've eaten here several times for breakfast and lunch. I have found the food to be okay (breakfast items better). It's often greasy and lackluster. But it will fill you up enough to get to where you're headed. The service however has always been friendly and welcoming. Also the experience of a 50s diner, the touristy gift shop (which is pretty big), and the random dinosaur exhibit in the back makes this place a fun stop.

Yelp
We saw the signs for the place on the highway and decided to stop for some pie. The place has tons of tables and seating at the counter. It was busy and prob always is, but we enjoyed our pie at the counter and explored after. We loved the peanut butter banana pie and the banana split pie was good too. The food we saw around didn't look too great, but who knows. The servers seemed kind of grumpy overall, but ours was nice. The store attached has a lot of retro goodies at prices that seem way too high. The dinosaur park out back is ok.

Yelp
There are tourist traps -- that you immediately regret after stopping -- and then there are tourist destinations, where you're glad you made the detour. Peggy Sue's definitely falls into the latter... especially since the "detour" is only a minute off the freeway. Classic 50's diner vibes, with wait staff in era-appropriate attire, and plenty of oldies memorabilia coving the walls to keep anyone entertained regardless of which of the 3 rooms you're in. Now the food... we went with burgers and curly fries, coleslaw and pastrami sandwiches, omelets, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, and of course an ice cold coke. Everyone was pleased with their food. Nothing fancy, and nothing short of good old fashioned comfort food. Big portions, friendly smiles, and prices that match. The family voted to make this a regular stop on road trips!

Yelp
Super cool 1950's diner! We sat at the counter (place was super busy Thursday 12:30pm) Courtney was our welcoming and hustling server. We both had patty melts, fries, salad. Excellent! Patty melt was delicious, the perfect amount of grease. Fabulous gift shop and Thrifty's Ice Cream Counter! Out in back you can visit the land of the lost with a few metal dinos. It was too hot for me but here are a couple of pictures from the car.

Yelp
Very cute diner that's actually quite large. They even got a park and souvenir store. Nice music theme. Self seating and you pay at the counter. Plenty of parking, huge space for truckers. Food has perfect portions, at first it looked really massive.

Yelp
Interesting place. Fun tourist stop. Once was enough. Food was diner worthy. Service was good.

Yelp
This was a convenient stop for us off the 15 freeway. Definitely a dive, but full of 50's classic nostalgia: Elvis, Lucille Ball (amongst other 50's icons), photos, props, waitresses dressed in 50's diner clothes, a kids menu (huge plus!), seat yourself, a decent selection of menu items, and good iced tea (also a plus!). Service was friendly (Rebekah was so sweet). Food was tasty! My kids were happy with their coloring page placemat. The bathrooms are my reason for the removal of a Star. First, they are exceptionally smelly, stale/musty, and not well ventilated. I almost vomited when I walked in. I understand what goes down in bathrooms... but it doesn't need to be like this! Secondly, the toilet paper. Is half-ply a thing? I think it might be... and it's at Peggy Sue's, sadly. Other perks: *a big gift shop that also sells thrifty ice cream ($2.99/scoop) *an outdoor park-like area with huge metal sculptures of dinosaurs and a gorilla, plus there were living animals (fish, turtles, and ducks). The water needs some attention, but it was a great extra bonus for my kids before getting back into the car!

Yelp
My steak and eggs was just right! Service was excellent! Atmosphere is definitely '50s! Place was busy at about 6-6:30 on a Monday!

Carole W.

Yelp
Fabulous stop on the 15! We have been driving by for years and finally stopped. The breakfast and burgers were good and reasonably priced. The servers were over the top professional and efficient. The place is a museum and a delightful place for all. As a tip, do not get gas across the road at the Shell station. The gas bays were empty and the price was sky high. 3 miles down the road, the gas was more than a dollar cheaper! I didn't check in there so I am writing this bonus paragraph.

Yelp
I am in love with this place! A must stop attraction! The building itself has fun curb appeal - it looks like a Jukebox! Inside is just as fun! The place is decked out in floor to ceiling 50's memorabilia, lots of old Hollywood type stuff, and a "yellow brick road" that leads you to the seating area! The waitresses are dressed in very 50's diner style dresses and aprons and they are all very friendly and helpful! I recommend getting a chocolate milkshake with whatever dish you order. The burgers and onion rings are super good as well! Be sure to stop at the gift shop on your way out!
google avatar

Yelp
This will be a must stop going to Vegas. Don't let the lot full of cars fool you- lots of tables and servers speeding everything up. Food was plentiful and pretty standard for a dinner. But the congenial friendly staff is what makes this place along with the great 50s vibe. Try stopping on your way or coming back from Vegas-it's definitely a nice stopover!

Yelp
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. From the moment we walked in, the general manager made it clear we weren't welcome. We politely asked to be seated at a larger table to accommodate our group of 5 more comfortably at a table for 6 -- nothing outrageous -- and were met with rudeness and attitude- manager declined and sat us at a table for 4 and a chair at the end- Instead of working with us or offering options, the manager acted dismissively and made us feel like an inconvenience. Should have been our first reason to get up and leave right away. But decided to give it a try since we are locals and wanted to give it a try. To make matters worse, the food arrived cold -- not lukewarm, cold -- and completely lacked flavor. It was honestly some of the worst food I've had in a long time. Hospital food tastes better m. We barely touched it, and no one seemed to care or check in. Customer service and hospitality are everything in the restaurant industry, and this place completely missed the mark. Between the unprofessional management and poor quality food, we won't be returning -- and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My son had to hold his plate and eat uncomfortable since the GM refused us a bigger table. Totally unacceptable.

Yelp
Stopped by as a breakfast before Vegas! Let me just tell you it was such a perfect halfway mark from Los Angeles. The vibes were cute and i had so much enjoyment walking through. The food was honestly average to be honest, it was nothing special but I will say it was great for breakfast wise. I got pancakes and hashbrown, it was good kinda of bland. My boyfriend got the chicken steak and eggs and it was defiantly better. Milkshake needed more flavoring. It had a great outside areas, definitely a great place to stop by if you want some food before going to Vegas.

Yelp
Was a little hesitant after reading reviews about the customer service, but I'm glad we gave it a shot. Hanna (I think?) was the sweetest, and all the other waitresses were all smiles too. The food was meh but honestly, you come here for the experience and not the cuisine. We were driving back to LA from Vegas and had to make the iconic pit stop. The place was packed when we arrived, but the lunch crowd thinned out pretty quick. Just seat yourself and someone will come by with menus. The whole vibe is like stepping into a time machine, 50s décor everywhere. Soak in the nostalgia :)

Yelp
Ambiance! Ambiance! Ambiance! Man! This place has ambiance for days. So much to see from the miles of ads as you get closer, to the doors as you walk in, to the 4 different rooms you get to choose to eat in, to the diverse and tasty menu, to the happy and attentive staff, to the welcoming store you can browse as you depart. And the price!! Was it the best meal I ever had? No. Was it worth every penny? Heck yeah! Our two plates were brimming with yummy food complete with a Lucious amount of sides to pick from. The names of the items were nearly as good as the food. Cynthia was our server and she was a hoot. Efficient, friendly, informative, and a genuine smile. At our table, not only was the server great, but a bus boy attended to my need and the trivia questions in the booklet were so clever. They had us conjuring up memories we should have been too young to have. What a great break from the long drive of the 15. Thank you Peggy Sue.

Yelp
Iconic restaurant on the way to Vegas, finally got to stop by for this trip. We had a root beer float, house special cream pie and some fresh brewed coffee. The diner is filled and over flowed with 50's decor and all kinds of collectibles. The wait staff uniform was also in vintage fashion. I like how they have a family friendly diner, and a more casual pizza palor that serves beer.

Yelp
I'm not surprised that this place doesn't have very good reviews the past couple months. If you park on the side where it says handicap only through the entrance, so I went in, tried to talk to 4 waitresses just to be ignored and they walked right by me. So I went to the front checkout, waiting in line. A lady was cashing a customer out and literally just walked away when I got to the counter. I stood there for a good 10 minutes or more before someone actually said a word to me other than "excuse me" because they have to walk by to get to the kitchen and say "corner". So I ordered a chocolate malt and coconut pie slice. Took about another 10 minutes just to get it, THEN she cashed me out. She doesn't know basic math..... The total was $13.66... I gave her $15.06. She gave me my food and I waited and she just looked at me funny. I asked for my change. She said oh I thought you gave me the exact amount. I said no I gave you $15 it was $13, thats $2 difference, but you owe me $1.40. She handed me $2 and I handed her $1 back and said no, you owe me 40cents. Lordy...... Our education system is crap. The coconut pie was fake whip cream, the coconut flavoring was nasty synthetic flavoring with terrible aftertaste. So this went straight to the trash.

Yelp
When it comes to dining in the California desert, you want something quick but delicious. That's just what my family and I received on our way home from our weekend stay in Las Vegas. We were still several hours from home and needed a roadside break from Sunday's traffic. So we stopped. Now, I've been traveling both directions of Interstate 15, and each time, I've been interested in discovering Peggy Sue's Diner, a 1950's themed restaurant, located in Yermo, for sometime. You want something hearty and quick? You've got it! We seated ourselves and was greeted by Cindy, who shared the history of the restaurant, brought ice cold waters and a Coca-Cola as we looked on with menu inhand Our dining experience met.expectations of a '50's diner. We loved it! So, the next time your travels' takes you through the high desert, stop in and enjoy the air-conditioned rooms, the food, and the ambiance of a time gone by, but not forgotten.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner on a roadtrip. It's always a favorite! Ordered the meatloaf and the portion was huge! The mash potatoes were good and gravy was tasty. My fiancé had the King Kong burger and you could tell it was home made. The curly fries were delicious.

Yelp
Okay, so along with the rest of the world, I've always wanted to stop at this little restaurant. I finally gave it a shot after, all these years. It was morning so I went for the breakfast of course. The food was okay, not hot, a little cold and my pancakes were a little rubbery. The restaurant itself was older and yes very dated to match the theme. The waitresses were polite and had these old diner outfits. There is also a gift shop. Unfortunately I don't think I will be back. Although very cool, I'm glad I finally stop in for a decent meal. Thanks Peggy Sue!

Yelp
Originally opened in 1954 this little retro diner in tiny Yermo is famous to us Southern Californians because it is halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Growing up in San Diego I would also pass this same area as I took the I-15 all the way to Vegas. After this stop it's about another 90 minutes to 2 hours to Las Vegas so it's a perfect place to stop during your journey. As the name suggests it's a classic retro diner specializing in Americana and 1950s aesthetic. I love how local and down home it feels inside and you can tell the place is filled with locals and travelers as well. The entire staff was extremely friendly and stepping inside looks as if you are in a movie revolving around a small town diner. Inside is quite large there are tons of seating options from tables, to booths, to counter seating. There's also a ton of parking out front so you'll never have an issue finding a space. Also, in the back is a small outdoor stage and walking garden with fountains, trees, turtles, and metal statues. It would be especially fun to see for kids and is a small version of the Cabazon dinosaurs. I am happy to report that the food here is also really good. As always, I started with a cup of coffee and this blend was a medium roast and very strong, which is my favorite type. For my entrée I chose the Chicken Fried Steak and honestly it was one of the better ones that I've had in a while. The steak was extra tender and packed with flavor, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The hashbrowns were a little bit too overdone in my opinion, but overall, I thought it was a great dish and I really enjoyed all of it. I would say this is a must stop if you are in or near the Yermo area and would be a great place to plan for a midway pitstop if you are traveling between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Yelp
Nice 50s diner on the road to Vegas/Cali They have nice typical homey diner food. Nice waitresses in cute outfits Got a chocolate milkshake with our meal And they have a small dinosaur park in the back. They also sell pizza in the back I believe Military base across the street I would at least try it once for the feel of it which is flashback to the 50s :)

Yelp
Godzilla Omelette was my order and my brother had the Traveler's special. Overall our food was as the sign states, "good food." Our meal was well portioned, tasted good and was served with excellent service. Our waitress was very friendly. I don't need to go into too much detail regarding the location and ambiance because this diner has history. These are the types of business we need to support.

Yelp
Taste: 5 Creativity/Authenticity: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Service: 5 Bang for your buck: 5 It's hard to believe that this place has only a 3 star! This place is incredible. Finally came back here after eating here as a kid back in 90s, and there nothing like this place. The food here is amazing, I dont think you can do no wrong, unless you don't like diner breakfast meals and the best pie! Service here is great, for how busy and big this place is, our drinks were topped off and food out so fast is like they knew what we wanted. The Ambiance is special, because they don't make places like this anymore, and even though this is older than my childhood, it still brings happy memories and glad to see so many families in here doing the same! Glad I came back and will def come back soon! Check this place out! Worth the stop

Yelp
Don't know why I've never been here from my decades of doing this LA-Vegas drive but now I'll be going here for food. Our server was great and we just made it before the lunch crowd arrived. From the looks of it this place seems like a must for European travelers. Our food was fine and the price is reasonable. Their garden space with the man made pool is great to walk and stretch those legs.. Saw lots of turtles.

Yelp
Went to Calico Ghost Town and stopped by at Peggy's Diner. Been wanting to go here for years, but never had the time. I went inside and found and felt I had stepped back into the 1950s. Ambiance was nice, lots of memorabilia, nice and cool inside, and employees were very nice. The food was surprisingly very good. I had the French Dip and onion rings. My favorite were the rings! I had a chocolate shake and it was delicious. Lots of food items on the menu to select. They also have a pizza parlor in the rear. I went to the gift shop and enjoyed the many things they had. There is a very small dinosaur exhibit in the back. Overall, this is a nice place to take a break before you head off on the highway. I definitely recommend this place and will return again.

Yelp
Located halfway to Vegas from LA in Yermo this spot serves up some solid 50's diner type food. For the price and portion we really much enjoyed our visit here. Everyone was dressed up and they had some older waiters that came and served us. I got these items. Chicken Fried Steak - Got them with biscuits and gravy and honestly was pretty good. Its a beef piece so don't expect it to be chicken (almost like a burger). I liked it overall. (4/5) Buddy Holly Bacon Cheeseburger - Solid cheeseburger and all the toppings are given on the side. Comes with 2 sides which is awesome, we got soup and curly fries. Flavor wise it was good, no complaints for the price. (4/5) Overall its a nice place for a pitstop if you want a quick bite. I can finally say I checked this spot out after seeing so many billboards advertising it on the drive to Vegas. Would I be back? Sure it's pretty decent and the pricing IMO was reasonable. They give you a small ticket to go to the store next door to pick up pieces of candy (basically hard root beer candy or a tootsie roll).

Yelp
Overall thoughts: interesting place, good food PRESENTATION & CREATIVITY- I believe all food is art. This meal was neat and good. QUALITY & TASTE- Everyone has their own opinion of preferences of taste. This meal was tasty and lots of fries came with my meal. I got the ham and cheese sandwich. SERVICE & HOSPITALITY- One aspect of a great experience at an establishment is the service of the staff. At this location, they were friendly. VARIETY OF OPTIONS- Some establishments offer very diverse menu. At this establishment, I've never seen so many options. You'll find something for you. BANG FOR YOUR BUCK? Is this too expensive for the quality of food? Yes! EXTRA NOTES: lots of parking, interesting place

Yelp
Always stop here on the way to LA from Vegas. They do get busy but pretty quick to seat you. This time we came to try out their pizza parlor. It's a cute little section of the restaurant. You can get a slice of pizza or individual size. Of course they have other sizes for the pizza. We got a slice and individual size alongside cheese bread and 2 sodas. The place is so fun and enjoy coming here

Yelp
Good food . Fast friendly service! Will return . The 50's atmosphere was like taking a trip back in time. Loved it!

Yelp
This is a very decorative and fun place! If it weren't for the aesthetics and how much fun we had just exploring the place, unfortunately, I'd give this less stars. Diner: the staff were friendly, they seemed busy and seating was confusing since they said sit anywhere and there were several rooms and the pizza parlor place was confusing since it faced the dinosaur park but wasn't the diner? We sat down and ordered drinks. The menu wasn't overwhelming, mainly burgers and sandwiches. Breakfast and dinner seemed typical as well, the fried chicken was going to take 30-45min and since this was a quick stop we opted for the cheesesteak sandwich with curly fries and onion rings (extra) and also the bacon cheeseburger with curly fries and homemade soup (beef and vegetables). For my toddler, we ordered Dino nuggets and curly fries. Soup came first, it was hot, had what I'd find in canned vegetables (tomatoes, potato, green beans, carrots, onions) and beef. Came with crackers and it was ok. The burger looked great, a bit dry unfortunately, I added ketchup and assembled it again. The Cheesesteak was very cheesy but had a lot of bread. Curly fries were ok, not as crispy. Onion rings were great, I asked for ranch but they gave us blue cheese which got me confused but I saw the cheese and was relieved it wasn't just bad ranch. The kids Dino nuggets were crunchy, plenty of curly fries. For some reason, my kid was gagging eating it. He also threw up so we stopped feeding it to him. It may be due to something he ate previously before. We didn't order dessert, it was getting late and my kid was being rowdy. The store next to the diner had ice cream and other snacks and candy. The bathrooms were not as clean but it was fun because there was a mannequin inside that surprised me. Overall, I'm glad I stopped by at least once. Might not come back again unless we want to stroll the park and get ice cream. Dino park: very cute and somehow I assumed it was bigger. It had a few dinosaurs and King Kong. There were turtles and ducks in the water. The dinosaur gift shop was closed when we got there around 6pm.

Yelp
We pass this every time we go between Vegas and Cali. Since the wife wasn't with plus this time I got to make the decision to stop. Glad we did Great classic diner menu. Liver was well prepared and the burger was large and delicious. Liver came with what I would consider the classic diner salad :D Waitress performed well on her first day at the counter. We wandered around to see the dinersaurs after we finished . Good food good service and a reasonable price seeing as how they could gouge. Definitely will stop again

Yelp
Cute little diner on the way to Las Vegas! Actually this restaurant is super huge and spacious on the inside with two different sides of dining (the diner side and "pizza" side but both parts serve the same menu. The back side of the restaurant serves as a dinosaur park which is very cute. Lots of great photo ops! Food is very nostalgic and yummy!

Yelp
I've passed by this place on the way to Vegas every time and always wanted to try it. I just walked in for a quick milkshake, and... wow... this is one of the best vanilla milkshakes I've ever had.

Yelp
Our 2nd visit in 3 days to Peggy Sue's! We always make a stop at this diner. It's cute, the waitresses are wearing the 50's apron style dresses, the nostalgic photos or the celebrities during the 50's fill the dining rooms, their gift shop...and the dinosaur park out back is another added plus! I ordered liver and onions again, ya'll. I LOVED it! I never have it since mom passed, so when a restaurant is brave enough to have it on their menu, I order it. My husband got the meatloaf the other day, and today, on the way back from Vegas, he got the breakfast sandwich with hash browns. My daughter ordered pancakes and bacon. Everything was delicious! The serving by Danielle was awesome! OK, Peggy Sue...till our next road trip to Vegas, we will see you then!

Yelp
April was my server. Super friendly and attentive despite the large amount of tables she was helping. Good job lady! This place has all the '50's ambiance you can ask for. I was serenaded by juke box huts from a day and age long gone, but never forgotten. Do not forget to visit the five n dime store on your way out. Brings back memories for sure. Also they have a dinosaur park out back for kids to play around. Very family friendly. Now let's talk food...yum. I ordered the Groucho Marx sandwich, turkey bacon and Swiss on grilled sourdough. Was good and good size. The curly fries a were nice as well, but they were not seasoned so be ready for that. All in all a solid 5 for the whole thing, I'd give the taste of the food a 4.0, the portions 4.5. Definitely worth the stop Along the Vegas trail

Yelp
I ordered a French dip and the meat was dry, my partner ordered the chicken fried steak and the meat was a rubbery texture. The decorations are cool but some or definitely a bit dusty and dirty. The food is reasonably priced for what you get

Yelp
My wife said she always wanted to stop here. So on this trip we did. Is a pretty cool place. The store has nice little things to buy. And when you sit down to eat it has all the nostalgic 50's diners food you can think of. The only thing that dampened this trip here was the older lady at the front desk. I mean I get it. She deals with 100's of people on a daily basis but she was just extra grouchy and downright rude. We were out back and we were told that the buzzer might not reach in the back. So my wife simply went up and said we were in back and just wanted to make sure we weren't called. She answered in a snapping way that she didn't call us. Ummm.... Alright. Then there was a lot of people waiting. She rudely yells that we need to wait in the store and keep the area clear. That's ok too. But just tell everybody. No need to yell at us like we are little kids lol! I was going to file a formal complaint but my wife talked me down so I just carried on about our day. The food was pretty good. The shakes were amazing. Cool pictures on the wall and our waitress was just the sweetest thing. I strongly recommend stopping here if you're in your way to Vegas!

Yelp
If you've ever driven to Vegas, you'll see tons of billboards telling you to visit Peggy Sue's 50s Diner. I'd been once maybe over 10 years ago and I remember it being pretty cool. So on this latest trip to Vegas I actually listened to the billboards on stopped in. Peggy Sues has ample parking so that's not a problem. Once you're inside the restaurant is on the right, the store is on the right and bathrooms are straight ahead. We were told we could sit anywhere except the reserved seating. We got our waters and menus and we waited. There's lots to look at but the place felt old. I ordered the Cisco Kid chili omelette. The omelette and biscuits & gravy were very tasty. The hash browns were on the oily side and not seasoned. Ketchup was a must. Service was OK. It was super busy even on a Thursday so I'll cut them some slack. The 5 & Dime store was pretty cool. Lots of touristy goodness. Games, decorations, postcards and candy. There's even a counter for shakes and malts. You can take your receipt and get a free piece of candy. A tootsie roll or something else I don't recall. In the end Peggy Sue's isn't a place I'd go every time I'd go to Vegas, but the occasional trip doesn't hurt. The food overall was pretty good and service seems to be hit or miss. The store is worth a quick peek and I didn't even check out the dinosaurs. Maybe in another 10 years.

Yelp
We always pas by on our way to Vegas and back. Finally decided to stop to grab a meal and just check it out. Service was great. We were seated pretty quickly placed our orders and received our items fairly quickly. Unfortunately, my sandwich was horrible. It was just a basic turkey club. The bread was very hard like if it was stale. You have to add your own mayo on the turkey was dry. It was just a really bad sandwich. The fries and the onion rings were delicious but the food unfortunately for everybody was lacking. It's a very cute diner. Lots of decor lots of things to look at and see the store is really cute, lots of good stuff in there the bathrooms are filthy very dirty smelled and lots of trash on the floor

Yelp
This is my go-to spot during a road trip to Las Vegas from Los Angeles. It's 1/2 way in between which is perfect. There's a gas station at this exit as well. I've been several times but finally leaving a review. Last time we dined here was Thurs., 3/27/2025 and it's refreshing to see diversity up in here! The Blob is very good!! Was my first time having it and will definitely get this again! Super cute 50s diner! @travel_lifestyle_chow

Yelp
Good ole' Peggy Sue's. We always have to stop by on our Vegas to Cali road trips. Just your typical roadside diner. we love sitting at the counter which has that old school 50's diner feel. Service is always great. If you stop by during a rush those waitresses hustle. Portions are generous and the food is always good. We have tried a number of different items and haven't been disappointed yet. Prices are reasonable too.
