Best Restaurants to Try on the Drive Between Los Angeles and Las Vegas | Eater LA

"There’s nothing like the nostalgia that comes with a meal at Peggy Sue’s Diner in Yermo, the ultimate jukebox-shaped ’50s-era throwback with television memorabilia and diner classics that haven’t changed much over the decades. The diner is probably the most complete and compelling place to stop for a meal between Los Angeles and Las Vegas; the maximalist retro design alone is worth a stop for mid-century pop culture enthusiasts. The menu is fairly sizeable considering its location in the middle of the desert, featuring classic greasy-spoon breakfasts, tuna and patty melts, a half-pound “King Kong” cheeseburger, and Southern fried chicken for dinner. After the meal, don’t hesitate to roam the grounds beside, where massive metal dinosaur structures and a lake landscape offer post-prandial amusement." - Matthew Kang

The 29 Best Diners in America | Eater

"A kitschy, time-warp roadside attraction on the drive between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, this multi-room '50s-themed diner offers jukebox entrances, mannequins at the counter, and a menu of cheeseburgers, Philly cheesesteaks, fried chicken, short stacks, and ice-cream sundaes. Beyond the food, the oversized Americana décor—including life-size Betty Boop and plastic backyard dinosaurs—makes the stop as much about nostalgia and photo ops as it is about the meal." - Eater Staff

We had a great stop at Peggy Sue's. The decor was great and it is a fun place to see. I don't think I would rush back though for anything but the milkshakes. Burger was bland and I don't think the fries or the burgers were fresh. Service was perfect and our waitress was very bubbly.

Yes, stop for lunch. Fresh, fast and fun. Kids loved it. Great place to stretch the legs by walking around the diner-saur yard. Chip card only, no tap to pay. Unique atmosphere, typical diner food.

Nice spot to hit up on your way to Vegas. Food is ok, its nothing fancy but the place itself is really cool. They are really busy on the weekends. Steak and eggs with biscuit and gravy $20 and omelet was about $18 with biscuits and gravy.

Google
Authentic 50's diner and gift shop. A perfect place to stop for food about halfway on the drive between Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Very fun atmosphere. Food was good. Service was great. You'll be happy you stopped..and if you have kids, they'll love it. They have 4 or 5 separate rooms with varying themes including a pizza parlor. Just go.

Doing the drive between Vegas and LA you will pass this place and wonder whats it like? So this time we decided to actually stop and try it out. The interior is very different from most places and its much bigger that you think when you first enter. We went for sandwiches (BLT & Turkey sandwich), fries curls and onion rings as sides. We also had sodas and their strawberry shake. We liked it, proper craftmanship and the shake was great! Next time I urge you to actually stop here - I recommend this place.

Google
If you’re cruising from California to Vegas, this vintage 1950s roadside diner is an absolute must-stop. The classic retro vibe alone makes it worth pulling over, but the food is what really seals the deal. The eggs are fresh and perfectly fluffy, and the world-famous pancakes live up to the hype — light, delicious, and exactly what you want on a road trip. Service is friendly, the atmosphere feels like stepping back in time, and it’s the perfect break from the drive. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable, old-school diner experience on the way to Vegas! 🥞✨

Google
Beautiful diner set at the backdrop of the desert. The whole place has a unique charm. We had a strawberry milkshake and a house made soup. Both were excellent! The shake was the right amount of sweet, thickness and temperature. Rita was wonderful and we had a beautiful conversation which I’m carrying back with me for life! 🤍

Google
The food here is honestly a bit overrated, but that’s never really been the point. In the middle of such a remote stretch of desert highway, having a place like this — with character, history, and a sense of nostalgia — is actually a small blessing for travelers. Peggy Sue didn’t build this diner to compete with modern restaurants. She built it to preserve a piece of 1950s American road culture, a place where people could stop, sit down, and take a break from the drive. You don’t come here expecting great food. You come for the atmosphere, the memories, and the simple fact that it’s still here.

Yelp
Peggy Sue's 50's diner is always our one and only stop when driving between LA and Vegas. This retro 50's diner truly lives up to its name. As soon as you walk in you feel like you're automatically transported back in time to a different decade. The decorations are top notch, there are a ton of different rooms with different displays and movie depictions, and there is a super cute gift shop. I love this place solely for the fun vibes it brings to the table. The food is nothing spectacular, just your run of the mill diner food, but it definitely does the trick for those long road trips. I got a regular ol' cheeseburger and my friend got a Philly cheesecake which filled us up for hours. They have all sorts of pie as well, I wouldn't necessarily recommend the lemon meringue, but they have a few other flavors as well as other desserts to try from the menu. The service is also great with everyone wearing 50's diner outfits which just adds to the experience.

Yelp
This is the first time in many years we have passed this place. We are very impressed with the quality and taste of food here. The biscuit and gravy was delicious. Gravy had the right taste and consistency and the biscuit was fluffy. Bacon was thick, crispy, and tasted great. Sausage was good also. The ham was really good, thick slice and perfectly seasoned. The hash brown was crispy on the top and bottom perfectly cooked. Eggs over easy cooked correctly! The superman breakfast was a filling and delicious breakfast. The Mickey Mouse club sandwich was delicious with lots of turkey, ham, and crispy bacon. The bread was toasted perfectly and did not fall apart when eaten. The curly fries were excellent and the coleslaw was the right consistency- not dry or too wet. The Buddy Holly bacon cheeseburger was delicious and seasoned well. The curly fries were cooked perfectly. The onion rings was a surprise, it was fried just right and I was thankful it was not panko crusted or oily! We would definitely stop and have a meal here again.

Yelp
Aloha gang! We decided to make a pit stop on the way back from Las Vegas to Peggy Sue's Diner. It's a roadside diner located in Yermo, Ca. This diner is filled with memorabilia from the 1950's and Hollywood. Plenty of 50's music to enjoy while dining. There are multiple dining rooms, so if you walk in and it's busy, a sign asks to seat yourself.. I just wished there could have been a hostess to help seat guests. When we arrived it was very busy and as we navigated through the restaurant, every room was packed and since we didn't know the layout of this establishment, we felt like we had to make our way through a maze of multiple dining rooms before we found an open table. This place is big. Once we were seated, the staff was friendly and efficient. Our server, Ashley took our orders and delivered our food with a smile, constantly checking on us. She did a great job. The food was satisfying and the portions were hearty. Don't forget to visit the gift shop. There's plenty of snack, drink and gift items available as well as Thrifty brand ice cream to purchase. Drop in and enjoy a trip back to the 1950's!

Yelp
Super fast and friendly service. Our waitress was super efficient and soooo sweet!!! She made the experience a 10/10. I haven't been to this place in such a long time and it literally has not changed but I love that. It was super busy! The place was packed! You could tell even just from the parking lot that there were a lot of people inside. Food came out fast and service was amazing!

Yelp
It's basically a tradition to stop off here either on the way to Vegas or back home to LA. It's something about the fun corky old school diner that's always exciting to visit. It's off the 15 freeway just past Barstow. There's plenty of parking as the lot is massive. Then you have the fun entrance with the massive jukebox as the doorways. And who else better to greet you than Miss Betty Boob. To the left of the restaurant is the gift and souvenir shop. It's a bunch of everything. Memorabilia, loads of Betty boobs items, there's an ice cream shop and tons of candy. The restaurant is to the right. You walk in, the diner would be the first thing you see. Continue walking and there's another seating area which is smaller than the main dining room towards the back. It's broken down to a few different dining area but the one towards the back is the main. It's seat yourself when you walk in. Of course all the waitress are in their fun uniform. It's makes the experience more memorable. Loads of fixtures and displays of old Hollywood all over the wall. This visit, it was an early dinner hearing back to LA. The main dining area was pretty busy which would be the first time I've encountered it. There's always a good amount of people but it was BUSY tonight. Our waitress, Kadie/Katie was sweet. She seemed a bit overwhelmed at the beginning when we arrived. But throughout the meal, she eased up a little. The calm after the storm. Menu wise, it's all your classic diner food. Breakfast, sandwiches, salads, specialty meals and so on. Of course all the amazing pies on displays in the class counter. I alway know what I want for dinner whenever I'm here. The fried chicken meal. It's alway my go too. Breakfast, I have my usual as well. It was a little confusing this visit when ordering. I wanted the fried chicken meal, come with either cornbread or dinner roll. And two sides and either soup or salad. Well, we were instructed that it would take at least half an hour to prepared. Ok, I get it and I know the routine as I've ordered it loads of time. Well, another order was wanted as well which was then informed that it would take at least an hour. Now how did it go from half an hour for an order to an hour for two orders of the fried chicken meal. Aren't they pretty much thrown together in the oil and fried all together. It was a little odd but we were like, it's fine we'll wait. But it was about half an hour for both meals. I figured as I've had it many times and knew the timing. So two orders of the fried chicken meal. One with soup which was cheddar broccoli and the other with a side salad. Also a tuna melt with onion rings and sliced tomatoes. We thought at least that would come out first but it came with the other meal. I did also order a side of onion rings which Kadie/Katie did offer to bring out first so we can have something to snack on while we wait. Food wise, chicken was good. Deep fried as it was hot to the touch. Onion rings were ok, nothing major this time. The sides, it seemed to alway be green beans. Pretty sure it's from a can. Corn bread was ok. With all the food, there was no room for a slice of pie. I need to order one before a meal next time. We enjoyed our meal. The service was good but a little off at the beginning but worked its way. It's a diner which is alway fun during a road trip. It's my fun place which I'll always make a stop for. Also, there's the back area with the pond and picnic area.

Yelp
Always good here! Fun 50's cafe. Typical 50's cafe atmosphere. Wait staff is awesome. Burgers, chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy all fantastic. Chili fries definitely need some work in my opinion. Milkshakes here are excellent. Easy off and on next to the freeway. Great place to rest up your driving hands and to fill up your belly! Plenty of free parking outside. Definitely give them a try...

Yelp
Incredibly disappointed with our experience here. My family and I were returning home from our Las Vegas trip and decided to stop here for brunch. We were already starving but decided to hold out for 2 hours as we drove down to this location, excited to try this spot out. Our first impression was wonderful. The restaurant itself was so cute and nicely decorated. Each room was very different but all fit an overall old Hollywood theme that was super fun. Despite being busy, we were seated only after a 15 minute wait. When it was time to place our orders, I was told that the fried chicken would take longer to prepared compared to the other meals. No matter, I had read other reviews and was prepared to receive this news. I asked the waitress how long it typically takes. She said 25-45 minutes. She offered to ask the kitchen how long the wait would be at that time and came back to say 25 minutes. What luck! If only it were true. The plan was for me and my dad to share the Philly cheese steak and the fried chicken so I told the waitress that we'll start with the cheesesteak while we wait for the chicken to get ready. She took everyone else's orders and put the order in quickly. 15 minutes go by and not a single dish has come out. Not even the grilled cheese sandwiches that we ordered for my two very young kids. 30 minutes. 45 minutes. At this point, I tell the waiter, I really hope everyone else isn't stuck waiting because I ordered the fried chicken. She says they typically prepare all the meals at the same time but she'll let the kitchen know now. Wtf. How was it not clear when we placed our orders? 60 minutes. After 1 HOUR AND 15 MINUTES, our food finally arrived. At this point I was so upset that the entire meal was ruined for me. We had 6 hours of driving ahead of us and we wasted a solid 2 hours at this sub-par diner that had nothing but cool decorations going for them. I had multiple touch points with the waitress throughout our visit and not once did she call out that there would be a delay in our meals. I can overlook the fact that she forgot to bring the other meals out while we waited for the fried chicken, but what continues to blow my mind is how 25 minutes became 75 minutes. And at no point did she think it was important to tell us there would be an unexpected longer wait, and give us a chance to change our order so we wouldn't be stuck sitting around for 2 hours with a 2 and 6 year old. Nothing they served us was worth the wait. I have nothing good to say about this spot. They absolutely do not respect their customer's time. Avoid this restaurant at all costs unless you have that kind of time to waste. 0/5, would not recommend.

Yelp
First time here. We drove from LAX to Las Vegas and this was our halfway point "Barstow". We decided to eat at Peggy's as this is supposedly a popular choice in Barstow. Loved the vibe of this place...has that old school original look and even the way waitress were dressed up and all the decors on the wall. This place is huge. You walk in and just find an open table. Food is great here and so as the customer service. We loved everything we ordered. Would love to come back here to try their pies/dessert as we didn't have room for dessert.

Yelp
You'll probably see this advertised when traveling towards Las Vegas. Finally decided to try this place on a recent trip to LV. it definitely is a busy spot especially for lunchtime. We came on a friday at the peak of lunchtime. They give you a buzzer and ask to wait in the store area. The store area has all sorts of random items ranging from disney to sanrio items. We were seated within 30 minutes. They have a big menu to choose from. Opted for the fried chicken plate and the audrey hepburn sandwich. Both were good but we felt it was nothing to come back for. I should have asked if the bread on the sandwich would be toasted, that probably would have made a difference. The service was great, but probably a one and done for us. Lots of parking available, restrooms could use a little more maintenance since it is heavily used. They do have a changing station for the babies as well in the women's restroom.

Yelp
I came here with my friend because she was raving about it. I have no clue what is going on in the bathroom, but it stunk really bad and needed attention. I really was uncomfortable with how one of their staff was handling dirty dishes in the same place as the customers. The food is generous and pretty good. They have a dinosaur museum and a five and dime, which were neat.

Yelp
The atmosphere at Peggy Sue's is very fun! Lots of older folks eating and working here, I heard staff swapping stories with the diners about memories they had at the diner. The food was nothing too exciting, pretty standard diner food, but it was good and filling! If you're road-tripping between Los Vegas and Los Angeles, I highly recommend stopping here for a meal and a walk through their Diner Saur Park.
google avatar

Francisco M.

Yelp
It's right off the highway and there's plenty of parking. The inside is really neat with loads of old school decor. You can sit right away at any empty clean table. The staff are really friendly and quick to respond. I got the traveler's special. It was a simple breakfast but basically all that's needed. It's really good. The bacon is nice and crispy. The French toast wasn't too sweet and just filling enough. The eggs were eggs. And the milkshake is liquid enough to be easily consumed. They also have a nice dinosaur section in the back for a little walk. I'd return here again!

Yelp
We have seen the signs for "world famous " Peggy Sue's diner many times on our drives, and we decided to take the plunge and give it a try this time. We arrived about one hour before closing, and we were seated right away at a booth in one of their dining areas. They have a larger dining area a bit further in as well. The ambiance is sort of cluttered kitsch with a definite retro theme. I kind of got a sense that the place could use a thorough cleaning, but overall it didn't seem too bad. The service is extremely friendly and attentive which was a big plus. I had the meatloaf dinner with a baked potato and side salad and cornbread. The salad arrived first and was basically some lettuce with dressing. This definitely could be improved. The cornbread was OK but was on the dry side and was quite dense. The meatloaf was OK...but...how do you burn meatloaf? The slices were very dark and crisp. Not bad necessarily but not what I expected. The baked potato was good and cooked all the way through. The green beans were fine but mostly tasteless. I had the blueberry pie for dessert. The crust was quite good, but the filling seemed like a canned filling. It was quite gelatinous, and the blueberries were minimal and quite small. It did not have that "homemade" taste. You are given a slip to obtain complimentary candy in the gift shop after dining, but the gift shop was closed when we left. Thus we were unable to redeem this. Overall, the food was fair and the service was good. I'm not sure if we will return, however. We will probably stick to our usual Denny's...

Yelp
This place was SO good! Best burger I've had in AGES! I've passed this place so many times in my way from Cali to Vegas and now I'm kicking myself that I did! The service was stellar and there's cool and interesting stuff all over the place. It will definitely be a stop on my trips to Vegas from now on! It's a great lil place to stop and eat!

Yelp
I had passed this place so many times on road trips, but this is the first time I actually stopped in. My child woke up displeased so I figured it would be a good break for him. They have expanded the space a lot over the years so when you enter there's a lot more rooms beyond what you initially see. The theme is basically nostalgia. Especially 50s Americana. The diner is full of very sweet ladies, and there is ample seating. Beyond that there's a pizza parlor as well, although when I walked through I didn't see anyone eating in that area. The other side of the building has a gift shop and ice cream shop featuring thrifty ice cream. Outside there is some water features, areas for dogs to to stretch their legs, and dinosaur sculptures. The stars I gave are for the wonderful service and the fun and unique vibe of the place. The food at the diner was pretty lackluster. Corn tasted like it was from a can, or heated in a bag from the microwave. Salad was meh. The mash potatoes were so salty. The fish was actually decent. The corn bread was where it really flopped. They were like oh the home made corn bread is so good! It was the worst corn bread I have ever had. I dont know if someone got their salt and sugar mixed up but it was crazy salty. It also was dry and overcooked, literally hard to chew and grainy. I had also ordered a root beer float, and it was a bit more ice cream than I like personally. I like the drink to still be bubbly and lots of generous scoops make it a bit flat for my taste. Overall there's not a lot of options in the area. Maybe a burger would be a safer bet, or the pizza. The outdoor area can be a nice spot to take a break if the weather is pleasant. I would probably stop buy again to give it another chance.

Yelp
We split the clubhouse sandwich and it is huge! With the two sides it filled us both up. We had waters and had lunch for $17! What a deal. Very good sandwich

Yelp
We have been driving past Peggy Sue's a few times a year for nearly a decade. We finally decided to stop in and try the food. We could have happily gone another decade without it. We received the wrong items twice, and when we finally received our burger and sandwich, they were not worth the price. The mains themselves were fine but small. I upgraded to the onion rings for $1.49 and they gave me 5, two of which were quite small, and one of which did not seem fully cooked. My boyfriend got the curly fries which tasted unseasoned and the coleslaw which he says "was the worst coleslaw I've ever had." Additionally, the women's bathroom was in need of cleaning. Toilet paper was strewn about the floors and stalls. The ambience is fine but dark. You get the best of the diner by just walking through and seeing the pictures and the dinos out back. Will not be returning except to grab spumoni ice cream from the gift shop.

Yelp
WOW!! Been driving by this place for YEARS!!! Why the hell didn't I stop sooner? Lets discuss... Stopped by here this past Tuesday (11/25/2025) because we had a wedding rehearsal in Vegas. We literally passed by this place and I mentioned to wifey we should probably stop and have breakfast. She agreed, so I exited on the next exit and took the street back to Peggy's. Holy cow! What we were missing!! It was absolutely amazing!! Old school feel with pictures on the wall. Katie was our waitress and she was amazing!! 10 stars for her....Kind of a jokester, but I loved it. The food was flavorful and the cherry pie!! OH MY GAWD!!! Delicious! We spent a little under $50 for breakfast, and it was great. I will definitely make this our go to place to stop, on our way to Vegas. One MILLION stars!!!

Yelp
Always said I wanted to try it out since I pass by it to and from vegas. Stopped on. Sunday around 12pm. There was a rush of people when I walked in. Ordered the Mickey minus club with beef and veggie soup. That soup was sooooo good! Enjoyed every spoonful. The sandwich was just ok. Nothing special. Ordered a coconut slice of pie to go. I don't like it. It had a medicine taste to it ‍ I don't know what happened. When I went to use the restroom I was caught off guard completely! I almost went off! Don't be alarmed though! It's fake!
google avatar

Yelp
This place was just ok. But it was really busy so that's gotta say something. I ordered the French dip sandwich with their "famous" curly fries, a garden salad and a coke float. The salad was only lettuce. The coke float was really tasty but you can't go wrong with soda and ice cream. The bun on the French dip was steamed instead of toasted and that was not good. Specially when you go to dip in the au jus. The fries were a bit undercooked. I only ate a few fries and a quarter of my sandwich. Maybe get the burger instead?

Yelp
Wow what a wonderful surprise! On our way to Vegas we saw old billboards for Peggy Sue's and we decided to stop on a whim. Apparently this is a known tourist spot as it was crowded! There were seats available and more room in the back...we sat at the counter. Husband got a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie and coffee. I got a chocolate shake and cup of chili. Diana was our server and she was a gem! We liked it so much we stopped again in our way home. This time we got the grilled cheese, chili fries and chocolate malt...and Diana was our server again. The restaurant is older but it is clean and it is a nice place for a break from the road. Highly recommend

Yelp
This place has been around for a LONG time, it's definitely part of history. When traveling from and to California I always tell myself we need to stop as I've always seen it on the way. So this time we did stop on the way back from California and it was not what I expected. First off driving in we saw how packed it was which I said to myself well that must be a good thing but we quickly learned it wasn't. Walking in you are "greeted" by a older lady with short white hair and to say the least we did NOT feel welcomed, she was RUDE RUDE RUDE I observed while standing by waiting for our beeper to ring to get our table that if you were of color she was not so nice but if you were American (white) she was the sweetest person ever. They provide you with a beeper to let you know once it beeps/ vibrates your table is ready but they advise you it only works with you staying in the small area and if you leave outside it will not work, they advise you to move to the left and stay in the store while you wait to be seated, I get it it's a marketing tactic they want people to walk around the gift shop and buy things but the gift shop is extremely claustrophobic and with very narrow walk ways so once you you do 1 round in there you are shoulder to shoulder waiting for your beeper to ring. Noticed a lot of people complaining about the same things while waiting to be seated. The food is very normal to what you would get down the street at a Dennys or IHOP Prices are very reasonable The only pleasant person was the server as she was on it in every which way. If not mistaken her name was Ashley and she kept a smile on her face and was on top of our group with refills or anything that was needed despite her being so busy she was amazing

Yelp
Stopped here while driving back to CA from Vegas. Saw the signs on the way to Vegas and decided to stop on way back. Was a short wait, around 15 minutes. We looked in the gift shop and outside. Service was friendly and attentive! And the food was really good! We were actually amazed how much we liked everything! From the soup to the fish, all very tasty! They have a large menu, and also a pizza place (gotta try that next time). Lots of seating, many rooms for dining. Lots of awesome decorations too. Stop in if you are driving by!

Yelp
We saw the signs for the place on the highway and decided to stop for some pie. The place has tons of tables and seating at the counter. It was busy and prob always is, but we enjoyed our pie at the counter and explored after. We loved the peanut butter banana pie and the banana split pie was good too. The food we saw around didn't look too great, but who knows. The servers seemed kind of grumpy overall, but ours was nice. The store attached has a lot of retro goodies at prices that seem way too high. The dinosaur park out back is ok.

Yelp
There are tourist traps -- that you immediately regret after stopping -- and then there are tourist destinations, where you're glad you made the detour. Peggy Sue's definitely falls into the latter... especially since the "detour" is only a minute off the freeway. Classic 50's diner vibes, with wait staff in era-appropriate attire, and plenty of oldies memorabilia coving the walls to keep anyone entertained regardless of which of the 3 rooms you're in. Now the food... we went with burgers and curly fries, coleslaw and pastrami sandwiches, omelets, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, and of course an ice cold coke. Everyone was pleased with their food. Nothing fancy, and nothing short of good old fashioned comfort food. Big portions, friendly smiles, and prices that match. The family voted to make this a regular stop on road trips!

Yelp
Very cute diner that's actually quite large. They even got a park and souvenir store. Nice music theme. Self seating and you pay at the counter. Plenty of parking, huge space for truckers. Food has perfect portions, at first it looked really massive.

Yelp
We have passed by this place many times and always wanted to stop. This time we had a chance to. Place is bigger than you think. Different dinning rooms with lots of decor. Small gift shop with tons of Knick Knacks something for someone. Outdoor area very relaxing doesn't even seem like a desert. Lots of shade, pond, and mini water fountain. We decided to try the Mickey Mouse sandwich club. That was tasteful and the onion rings you must try they aren't hard and not burnt more like a beer batter. The pastrami I didn't like was too salty and think pieces. Make sure to order side of bbq it was so Smokey great touch to fries. Service was fast and our server kept checking if we were okay. Gave 4 stars because I didn't finish my sandwich I ate the rest of my wife's but would go back to try the breakfast.

Yelp
Peggy Sue's is an iconic roadside diner, popular among those traveling along the 15 on the way to or from Vegas. It's a large space - full of 50s style memorabilia all over. I've eaten here several times for breakfast and lunch. I have found the food to be okay (breakfast items better). It's often greasy and lackluster. But it will fill you up enough to get to where you're headed. The service however has always been friendly and welcoming. Also the experience of a 50s diner, the touristy gift shop (which is pretty big), and the random dinosaur exhibit in the back makes this place a fun stop.

Yelp
Came here for dinner after spending some hours in Calico Ghost Town. Wow! Super cool restaurant with so much to look at! Lots of fun sayings on the walls too - made us smile. Service was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly with a bubbly personality. Our food was brought out promptly and was tasty. We definitely would like to return to try their other food options.

Yelp
This was a convenient stop for us off the 15 freeway. Definitely a dive, but full of 50's classic nostalgia: Elvis, Lucille Ball (amongst other 50's icons), photos, props, waitresses dressed in 50's diner clothes, a kids menu (huge plus!), seat yourself, a decent selection of menu items, and good iced tea (also a plus!). Service was friendly (Rebekah was so sweet). Food was tasty! My kids were happy with their coloring page placemat. The bathrooms are my reason for the removal of a Star. First, they are exceptionally smelly, stale/musty, and not well ventilated. I almost vomited when I walked in. I understand what goes down in bathrooms... but it doesn't need to be like this! Secondly, the toilet paper. Is half-ply a thing? I think it might be... and it's at Peggy Sue's, sadly. Other perks: *a big gift shop that also sells thrifty ice cream ($2.99/scoop) *an outdoor park-like area with huge metal sculptures of dinosaurs and a gorilla, plus there were living animals (fish, turtles, and ducks). The water needs some attention, but it was a great extra bonus for my kids before getting back into the car!

Yelp
NOT CLEAN! Before ordering, I went to visit the ladies room. NOT GOOD! See the photos attached to see why I was afraid to order food. The bathroom was so unloved and dirty, I wondered about the cleanliness of the kitchen. Then I looked around at the stained carpets, icky salt shakers..... buyer be aware

Yelp
I am in love with this place! A must stop attraction! The building itself has fun curb appeal - it looks like a Jukebox! Inside is just as fun! The place is decked out in floor to ceiling 50's memorabilia, lots of old Hollywood type stuff, and a "yellow brick road" that leads you to the seating area! The waitresses are dressed in very 50's diner style dresses and aprons and they are all very friendly and helpful! I recommend getting a chocolate milkshake with whatever dish you order. The burgers and onion rings are super good as well! Be sure to stop at the gift shop on your way out!

Yelp
This will be a must stop going to Vegas. Don't let the lot full of cars fool you- lots of tables and servers speeding everything up. Food was plentiful and pretty standard for a dinner. But the congenial friendly staff is what makes this place along with the great 50s vibe. Try stopping on your way or coming back from Vegas-it's definitely a nice stopover!

Yelp
This Restaurant doesn't disappoint, the salad was fresh and for a dinner salad it was very large, The fried chicken was good, super hot, just from the fryer, but needed to be better seasoned kinda bland, but fresh. The mashed potatoes are real, not the packaged stuff. The corn needed butter, salt and pepper. If you order the fried chicken, it will take about an extra 20-25 minutes for it to come out, Diana, our waitress said 30-40 minutes. The staff is very friendly, there are multiple seating areas, so check them all out, also take time to walk the gift shop next door. One HUGE plus for us, NO pets allowed! While we were there a lady walked in with her mutt, not a service dog, and one of the waitress told her that they do NOT allow pets. Thank God, we are so sick of eating with pets in Nevada, this was a welcome change..

Yelp
Ambiance! Ambiance! Ambiance! Man! This place has ambiance for days. So much to see from the miles of ads as you get closer, to the doors as you walk in, to the 4 different rooms you get to choose to eat in, to the diverse and tasty menu, to the happy and attentive staff, to the welcoming store you can browse as you depart. And the price!! Was it the best meal I ever had? No. Was it worth every penny? Heck yeah! Our two plates were brimming with yummy food complete with a Lucious amount of sides to pick from. The names of the items were nearly as good as the food. Cynthia was our server and she was a hoot. Efficient, friendly, informative, and a genuine smile. At our table, not only was the server great, but a bus boy attended to my need and the trivia questions in the booklet were so clever. They had us conjuring up memories we should have been too young to have. What a great break from the long drive of the 15. Thank you Peggy Sue.

Yelp
Iconic restaurant on the way to Vegas, finally got to stop by for this trip. We had a root beer float, house special cream pie and some fresh brewed coffee. The diner is filled and over flowed with 50's decor and all kinds of collectibles. The wait staff uniform was also in vintage fashion. I like how they have a family friendly diner, and a more casual pizza palor that serves beer.

Yelp
I pass by here every time I drive to Las Vegas. My second visit, busy place. Had someone frilled Han and cheese sandwich today, with Cole slaw and potato salad. Sandwich was perfect...from order to delivery of food...about 5 min. Sandwich was piping hot, piled high with shaved ham, and melted cheese, perfectly grilled the bread. Had a piece of cherry pie to finish. Love this place. Service very personable....fast...will def be back.

Yelp
Super cool 1950's diner! We sat at the counter (place was super busy Thursday 12:30pm) Courtney was our welcoming and hustling server. We both had patty melts, fries, salad. Excellent! Patty melt was delicious, the perfect amount of grease. Fabulous gift shop and Thrifty's Ice Cream Counter! Out in back you can visit the land of the lost with a few metal dinos. It was too hot for me but here are a couple of pictures from the car.

Yelp
odd - I swear I have reviews for Peggy Sues from before - maybe they fall off after awhile? Anyhow - we did 2 stops at Peggy Sues since we stopped on the way to Vegas and on the way back Stop 1 - Pizza time - now this actually was a first for us - we have been stopping by for decades now but we had never tried the pizza parlor - this time we did - and was it ever tasty! I had a simple cheese slice - but it was perfectly loaded with cheese that when you took a bite it had a cheese stretch to handle lol - the better half had a pepperoni slice which was similar with the added bonus of flavorful but not overpowering pepperoni....we both shared some garlic cheese bread - a perfect side with wonderful crust and loaded with cheese! Stop 2 - This was a more traditional for us stop - we both had the open face roast beef - albeit because we didnt have time to wait for the fried chicken (anywhere from 20-60 minutes with how busy the place was) some drinks - we do this almost every trip with her picking between fried chicken, chicken fried steak, whatever she feels like but me always doing the open face roast beef =) honorable mentions Pies - omg this place has great pie - my favorite is the banana cream Shakes - awesomeness The vibe and the gift shop are great fun too If you need a pit stop between Cali and Vegas - this is one of the best spots =)

Yelp
Food was just awful, felt like it was a tourist trap. The only redeeming point is the server who was super friendly and smiley so I wanted to be really understanding. I got the famous chicken fried steak and it tasted so burnt that it was bitter. The breading slid right off and wouldn't stay on while eating it and it was cooked to black that I thought it was a dish of liver and onions. The "made in house pie" just tasted like canned pie filling baked into a crust. You can tell the blueberries aren't from fresh blueberries. The worst point was the tradition of turning your receipt to the gift shop to claim your free candy. But they close the store earlier than the restaurant and when we asked the staff she just sad it's closed. Wouldn't it have been nice to just hand over one little piece of candy to your customers? I hear mixed reviews and that one worker is particularly unkind... Ambiance wise - idk if it really satisfies a blast to the past vibes for nostalgia... more like outdated and poorly maintained and tbh a little dusty

Yelp
Okay, so along with the rest of the world, I've always wanted to stop at this little restaurant. I finally gave it a shot after, all these years. It was morning so I went for the breakfast of course. The food was okay, not hot, a little cold and my pancakes were a little rubbery. The restaurant itself was older and yes very dated to match the theme. The waitresses were polite and had these old diner outfits. There is also a gift shop. Unfortunately I don't think I will be back. Although very cool, I'm glad I finally stop in for a decent meal. Thanks Peggy Sue!
