"Don’t even think about passing by this nondescript convenience store outside of Lake Charles. Peggy’s Superette sells more than booze and grocery staples. They make their own boudin fresh daily, along with other specialty meats. They even have sacks of live crawfish in season." - Beth D'Addono

Overpriced, cold boudin supposed to be hot, not same as old boudin from years before. I grew up down street, don't recommend.! When I visit from now on won't be coming here, staying away, wasting your money.!

I don't know what happened to Peggys boudin they used to have some of the best in southwest but they changed the ingredients or someone else is making it now it doesn't taste the same at all as previous years I'm not the only one that says this. I wish they brought back the old way they made it i dislike it now and very disappointed

I have been driving all the way from San Antonio five or six times a year for decades to buy 20 to 30 packages of frozen spicy Boudin. It is the best ...and the drive is totally worth it. I pray that it will reopen soon. I would like to commend Peggy‘s for their very compassionate and generous free meal today. I sure wish I could be there. And we in San Antonio ... Some of Peggy’s boudin fans are keeping the lake Charles community in our prayers. Chris in San Antonio

I love their boudin. I've been going here for over 6 years for my boudin.

I had been getting boudin from this place since I was a little girl ! Ever time I went to visit my grand mother or on a road trip I would make a stop no matter how far we were the road . I currently live in Northern California and haven’t had a chance in years to stop by, but I wish like hell they shipped!! If anyone reading this would like to be my hero and ship me and my family over a couple pounds, I would be ever so grateful! Omg I can literally taste it.

Historically, tough spot on a "busy" street in a low income neighborhood. They close much earlier than they did on my high school days. Traffic in the area doesn't seem as hectic as it once did. Their boudin is a North Lake Charles tradition that you don't come to this city without experiencing! (The mild is really hot and the hot feels like a personal assault. I don't like their boudin but I'm not from here.) NOT FOR THE WEAK!

Peggy's might be a little out of the way but don't be afraid of that part of the town it might be the hood with neighbors are nice and the boudin's always wonderful

Yelp
I grew up on Peggy's boudin on our frequent trips to Louisiana as a child. Now today, it is still one of my top two boudin's in La. The recipe has changed over the years, but now it's pretty close. The original was omg 5 stars all day.

Yelp
This is a staple in Lake Charles. Great little hole in the wall. They have the best Spicy Boudin in town. There are many great spots in this little town for Boudin but if you like it spicy Peggy's is the place to go. You can purchase it hot, fresh, and ready to eat or frozen to take with you for later. We ALWAYS make sure to stop here and stock up to bring back home.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST boudin I've ever had in my life. I'm from Houston and my family regularly drives down here to load up on their boudin. It is to die for. So flavorful. So tasty. So worth the drive. Just make sure you get more than on pack. You WILL finish it fast! 100% recommended. I just wish they shipped. Oh well. Still good.

Yelp
Not the best looking establishment and not the most trustworthy patrons standing and walking around outside, but the food inside is to die for. This place still has the best Boudin I've ever tried (and I've tried a lot). I have to get the spicy cause it's just not the same without the kick. You can buy the links upfront and eat it all nice and hot, or you can buy the frozen blocks (5 links) in the back of the store for about 10-12 bucks each and eat it later. If you can overlook the neighborhood and the exterior of the store, you'll be in for a treat if you want some dang good Boudin. I drive all the way from Houston to stock up every month. Come in a group if it makes you feel safer, but the staff there is always friendly and welcoming. You gotta try the fried turkey wings too!! Man my mouth is watering just talking about it. I'll be there tomorrow to get my fix for sure.

Yelp
I DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE FOR MY SAUSAGES OR BOUDIN. They hit the spot so hard, it will having you (like me) drive from Houston to Lake Charles just to have them! I always order the spicy boudin, I need that kick of a flavor! The staff here is always wonderful. The area isn't an extremely pleasant area, but you know what they say, hole in the walls are the way to go! The people that runs this place is a Grandma and her Daughter. Their grandson/son recently passed away in April, so now they're taking care all of the hard work! Making and cooking the boudin and sausages themselves, so be reasonable people! I believe they are closed on sundays as well! BUT DEFINITELY, try it!!! I recently stocked up on a life time supply of boudin and sausage.. that's right probably spent a lot more than I should have but oh wells! It's that good, I will be back every time I head down to NOLA or Biloxi, or rather head home to Houston!

Yelp
Their boudin is so GOOD!!!! Tried it once and had to ask to get more because it is that tasty! It has the right kind of spicy to it without it being too spicy! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
This hole in the wall place is definitely small but it is a hidden gem. It is located In the hood, but don't worry because people here are super friendly. Beware that Their Boudin is spicier than most places, but it is packed with flavor. They have frozen, cold, and ready to eat boudin. Owner is an old sweet woman who also gave us free links of boudin to eat on the road because we bought an ice chest full of frozen boudin! We try to come down every chance we get. They also have garlic sausages that are out of the world good. It is great in gumbo, spaghetti, or smothered with okra. That southern comfort food!

Yelp
I've been going there since 1986 and tried Boudin all the way through Louisiana and none will hold up to the taste as Peggy's boudin. It is so awesome I come from Orlando Florida to get it every year sense August 1986

Yelp
This is the best place to pick up Boudin. If you are a cajun food lover, this place is a must stop.

Nicole S.

Yelp
Do not be dismayed by the Vietnamese ( I think) who now own this place. The boudin here is a staple in my childhood. Since they have bought the store, they no longer sell gas, have torn out the petrol pumps, and have fired the originator of "Peggy's boudin" after they acquired the recipe. For awhile the boudin all tasted different, now they have honed the recipe for uniformity.**Only buy the fresh links, not the frozen as they are water logged and flavorless.**

Kelly T.

Yelp
A little convenience store that's always the first place I stop by when I'm in Lake Charles. Their boudins are mouthwatering!! It's full of flavor and they're the best boudins I've ever come across. The owners are super friendly too! :)
