This was our first visit to Pei Wei Store and we absolutely loved it. The front staff girl is friendly and helpful. I was impressed to see how she helped an elderly couple taking their order. There was a wait time for about 20 minutes which we were already informed while placing the order. The food was fresh and the portion size is good. It was a good experience and we’ll definitely be back.

Got surprised with the delicious food. Perfect spice blend and amazing spring rolls. We had Kung Pao fried rice with tofu. Being vegetarian they had all menu items with tofu

Last time I had food at Pei Wei was about 10 years ago in midwest US. They had more choices on the menu but now it’s more like a fast food restaurant. Food tasted good but probably not on the healthy side. The flavor of the drunken noodle was unique and just right, although the chicken in there didn’t absorb the flavor at all. Anyways it was good to have tried it again after a decade. The restaurant is clean and organized.

It’s been quite some time since I have been to this place. Prior to Covid actually, and I was looking forward to going again because it used to be terrific. Sadly, it’s gone downhill in both quality and atmosphere. The food used to be excellent, with fairly large portion sizes. I would say the quality of the food now is just average and the portion size has gotten smaller. Making it worse, is that the size of the proteins are just very inconsistent. From one bite of chicken or shrimp to the next, the size varies greatly. See attached videos; means the smaller pieces are over cooked and nearly inedible. They have also done away with the fancy soda machine and replaced it with a much cheaper model which dispenses soda that is basically flat with next to no carbonation. The staff was fine, very little interaction with them but they were nice enough. The inside of the restaurant just looks worn down, night and day difference to the way the place presented just a few years ago. Disappointing to be sure, I think there’s much better value for your money in the area.

Started with the Vegetable Spring Rolls, Dan Dan Noodles, Signature Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and for me the new Thai Basil Chicken (they needed to add more than 5 basil leaves in this dish I think.) Food here is always made fresh and delicious.

Google
It was a cold evening. We arrived around 7:15pm. There is a large display menu of dishes with pictures and descriptions, so we can have good expectations on what we are going to get. We said to have dinner in their dining area, but the staff said they will close soon, so only for to-go. Our orders were quickly done within ten minutes. The Thai Coconut Curry Chicken on brown rice was in averaging flavor. The Spicy Drunken Noodles were difficult to roll up using the plastic fork. The Kid’s House Special Chicken was simply chicken and pineapple in sauce on top of brown rice. We sat outside the restaurant, and finished our dishes at around 7:45pm wearing our winter coats in cold weather. When we looked into the restaurant, they were still open! We could not understand why they did not let us dine in!

Google
Too much sauce like they put soup in to the order, i can’t eat . I trying call to tell them but no one answered

Google
Food and staff were good but THERE IS ZERO HEAT. It was 50 degrees inside and they had 3 plug in heaters running. An employee said it has been this way for a long time. We will not be back until summer. Shame on the owners.

Yelp
i felt conflicted about writing this review. i've been going to pei wei since way back in 2007, when they first opened in reston. they had a really really unique way of cooking tofu and it was so incredibly delicious. the sauces had great flavor and spice and i was consistently impressed. i usually got either the pei wei spicy or kung pao. my friends and i went all the time, all throughout high school-- we were truly their biggest fan. the ambiance is nice too, cozy and dimly lit, and pretty quick casual service. the one is reston closed back in 2019, and i can't even express how bummed i was. i decided to try it again YEARS later, and while the sauces are still pretty tasty, the tofu is such a disappointment. they've surrendered to how other places deep fry, except they don't even do it as well. the skin peels off and it makes for a consistency mess. pei wei, i'll always be a somewhat loyal fan, but god damnit bring back that slim sheet-like tofu. you really had something special going.

Yelp
I came in here on a Saturday right at lunch hour. I would expect there to be a little bit of a crowd in the dining area, but I was the only customer. The food came out quick and was definitely hot. I had to wait for it to cool down a little. It tasted good and was an ok portion for the cost. The only issue was the "lettuce cups" was iceberg lettuce quartered. Not really what one would expect, nor did I want that.

Yelp
We came back for dinner after quite a while and the place was not very busy and we were seated immediately although food did take a good 20 minutes to arrive. The food was nice and piping hot, although the flavor and taste were bland as usual.

Yelp
Chicken pad Thai is a winner, but I must say that the crispy lettuce wraps were disappointment. The last time I ordered them they were 99% water chestnuts with very little chicken making it a very expensive appetizer. They might as well not have eggrolls on the menu because they are not good and the dumplings are tiny and just OK. I think I'll be getting my pad Thai elsewhere from now on. ADDED: I followed the advice in the response and sent the same review to corporate. The response was 2 $10 vouchers.

Yelp
Food is Fresh and amazing service, is on point, thanks for a great experience I definitely going to come back.

Yelp
Got to go. Food was fresh and delicious. Would order there again. Had the coconut curry chicken, Mongolian beef and pad Thai. All were good as fast food, but not as authentic as going to a Chinese or Thai restaurant.

Yelp
Place has significantly gone downhill. It's a crime to eat here, especially now, given all the non-chain amazing Asian restaurants in the area. But I was nearby and convenience won the day. I very much regretted it. The kung pao shrimp had almost no veggies in it, about two pea pods and about five very thinly sliced pieces of carrot, and maybe 5-6 small shrimp. 90% of the bowl was just rice with a tiny bit of sauce. There was nothing "kung pao" about this dish, it had almost no spice, and even after adding two of the chili paste packets they gave me, it was barely flavored. Worst still, I'm someone who almost never gets indigestion no matter what I eat, but I had horrible heartburn for about three hours after eating here. Never again!

Yelp
Just left about 30 minutes ago and the young lady at the register was amazing. Food as expected. But what struck me was the wonderful young employee. Keep it up! She's an asset.

Yelp
Read some of the reviews and really felt compelled to write mine since the last one was 7 months ago. I've never been to Pei Wei, so i don't know what to expect. I usually go to small mom and pop restaurants. But this exceeded my expectations, given some of the negative reviews, and that this is a chain restaurant. Came in for lunch on a Tuesday, and the dining area is clean and spacious. Carlos, my host, was pleasant, charismatic, and attentive. I ordered Mongolian Beef, a spring roll, and a soda. Eight minutes later, Carlos brought my meal to the table. The food was fresh, hot, and tasty. If I could only give one critique, it would be that the sauce had a little too much sodium. But this is a personal preference, and i do not use a lot of salt. Other than that, this was really good. Carlos even took my plate from my table, even after saying he did not have to. Carlos replied, "Not a worry, sir, my pleasure," as he took away my dishes. I would definitely bring my family in here if in this area or would come back if it was just me. Hats off to Carlos. This guy is working the dining area. Cleaning tables, interacting with guests, the staff, filling napkins, utensils, etc. He must lose 5 pounds a shift as much as he's moving around. He is a testament to working hard in a tough industry, where so few want to work. Great job, Carlos, and thank you for making this a great experience.

Yelp
A solid 4.5 stars. Tara Thai in Lexington Virginia set the bar very high for all Asian restaurants. PeiWei's Firecracker Tofu & veggies is an excellent choice. The tofu was crispy, juicy and flavorful. The veggies were fresh and the fried rice was ok. The side chili sauce was an excellent additional choice to my meal. What would've made this review better is more scallions, fresher veggies (so they snap when you bite them). This is a very good Chinese American restaurant. Head and shoulders above Panda Express.

Yelp
I had to put in an order for a department party tomorrow and EZ Cater told me you guys were closed. Panic set in so I called in and I was saved. Liz Janeway thank you so much for saving the day. Customer Service 10/10.

Yelp
My office provides us with lunches from local restaurants in the area. And Im super grateful but this place was not my favorite. The food had little to no seasoning. My rice was dry and clumped together and the shrimp was soggy. This establishment won't get any of my coins.

Yelp
I wanted something quick & easy before heading back to the MD side. The extremely friendly & helpful staff were all hands on deck. Especially if you're a first timer as you will get all the necessary 411 on the ordering process. A fast casual Asian restaurant where you build your meal from Rice Bowls, Bento Boxes, Noodles ( four different types), Salad Bowls, Sushi, Small Plates with a few Cauliflower & Gluten Free options. All orders are made on the spot with dietary preferences closely being adhered to. I get excited when I get the Vegan General Tso Tofu prepared to my liking with just the right crispiness, spiciness & sauces. It was a heaping plate of flavorful & delightful goodness giving me more than enough for later. I ordered a glass of wine & the employee came out to apologize for the wait, as she stated there weren't any clean wine glasses at the moment & went to wash one herself...thank you again. A Veggie Spring Roll, an enormous plate of tasty GS Tofu & a nice pour of Cabernet came to $16.00. That & the great customer service was worthy all around. I wonder if there are any plans to open locations in DC & Maryland. To note, their parent company is P. F. Chang's Bistro.

Yelp
I am disgusted. Not only was my food hard but i ordered low me in and got over cooked noodles with no sauce. Then as im eating my orange chicken i find this??? W T F IS IN MY FOOOODDDD

Yelp
Rain or shine, snow or no snow I will & definitely be there to eat my favorite Asian food. It's all delicious & worth coming back. Love this place!

Yelp
Pei Wei is one of my go-to for a quick and delicious Asian fix! Whether it's the zesty hot and sour soup or the comforting wonton soup, they nail it every time. The speedy service and spotless restaurant add to the cool vibe. Pei Wei - where fast meets fantastic!
google avatar

Christopher S.

Yelp
+You can customize the level of spiciness, for each entree. +They use real woks to cook your made to order food. +They have a loyalty rewards program. -The flavors can be a little off compared to most typical western Chinese restaurants in the DMV region. However, they do indicate they're an Asian fusion establishment. I got the Kung Pao Beef and it was pretty okay! Will probably skip the 'very spicy' customization, next time.

Yelp
Whenever I have a job down here in Sterling Pei Wei is my go to lunch spot. Great pricing and the food is ALWAYS great and piping hot. I've almost tried every dish and everytime I am super satisfied. The last two weeks alone I've gone 9/10 days for lunch! Great and friendly staff and whenever I need something I'm served with a smile! 11/10 one of my favorite places to visit.
google avatar

Bill A.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. It's my favorite fast-service Asian restaurant. I make sure to stop in at least once (if not multiple times) any time I'm in a city that has a Pei Wei. It doesn't get much better than their Mongolian Steak or their Dan Dan Noodles.

Kayla W.

Yelp
Firecracker shrimp is on FIRE! Clean restaurant with friendly staff. I signed up to be a rewards member and earned points for my order tonight!
google avatar

Nova A.

Yelp
Gluten free options is what's keeping me a loyal customer. There GF menu has a wide variety of dishes. When ordering via a door to door delivery company, one can personalize the ingredients for the entree selected (I.e., no onions.) Restaurant is not cozy. Seems too dark and sterile looking.

Dejuan W.

Yelp
Just came back once again "silly me" lord the teriyaki chicken dish was soggy and tasteless Never again ! I'm for real this time lol sheesh smh

Heather K.

Yelp
Upon exiting the restaurant the door swung back knocked my food out of my hand and spilt my drink all over my shirt. I went back to tell someone and they couldn't be bothered. I now have no food and a wet shirt. What I did get to eat was good, but nothing really to write home about. The could have least replaced my dinner.
google avatar

Lorraine N.

Yelp
dark and i inviting food was not good and the attitude of the order taker was sour. skip it and go to panda express
google avatar

Heather E.

Yelp
I don't know what has happened to this place. It used to have decent food. My go to is dan dan noodles and hot and sour soup. They no longer have the soup and the noodles had barely any sauce on them and looked anemic. I ordered a side of extra sauce and I got a super small portion maybe 2 tablespoons and paid extra for that. They use to give a much larger portion. Needless to say I will not be back.

Yelp
I went today and ordered beef and broccoli meal realized I had left my wallet at home and the manager Malcolm who took my order offered you paid for my meal ...I enjoyed my service and food..I love it

Shera B.

Yelp
The service alone was wonderful!! Today I l drove from Columbia Md to come because of Malcolm Pei Wei in Dulles I got my food quick and with no issues. Right before I was leaving the Malcolm the manager pulled one of his teammates aside to correct him on something and that team member starting yelling and cursing at the manager. The Malcolm keep asking him to stop and listen so he can understand then in that same situation the young man claim the manager told him to grab the little boy. Which I witnessed the manager did no suck thing. He just asked him to ask the customer what they needed help with. Malcolm's handle that like a pro but he needs help he looks drained.

Yelp
Average tasting food. I ordered a shrimp dish and it was honestly not very good. The brown rice that it came with had a lot of dark spots (most likely brown rice that had gone bad).

Candice W.

Yelp
My Husband and I went in for dinner. we customized our order to eliminate certain ingredients. Upon pick up Malcolm realized that the order was incorrect and immediately got a replacement order working for us. No questions or hassle. I appreciate him taking the extra steps to confirm our order and make the necessary corrections without being asked. Kudos to Malcolm!

Yelp
Shot out the lady at the front on 12/15/2020 with the really cool haircut! I don't know her name, but I remember her cool cut! She was friendly and helped with the menu. I ordered the Mongolian Beef and she offered some suggestions. The food was really good! Just a tad salty, but still edible and delicious. Good help is hard to find these days, so I appreciate when people offer superb customer skills. She brought my food out to me, instead of just tossing it on the counter. Just a nice vibe she gave and was super cheery, I will for sure be back to this location. Nice large portions for that dish and if you like mushrooms, you love it! They place was very clean and everything went smooth as butter baby!
google avatar

Tamara K.

Yelp
I love this place. I have some unusual food allergies and the ability to custom order dishes at Pei Wei on UberEats is just such a joy! I have no worries about eating and can enjoy a cuisine I often have to miss out on! Not to mention - the food is always delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
No flavor. I would not recommend this place. I got an egg roll, firecracker chicken, and the donuts and they were all subpar.

Yelp
It's been YEARS since I've been to Pei Wei, maybe even a decade. I never usually crave Chinese Food, and when I do, I prefer the kind where everyone that works there speaks very little English. With that said, I was meeting a friend for lunch who suggested Pei Wei because it would be quick and easy. And surprisingly, it was. They have quite a different (and diverse) menu from what I remember. They have sushi now? and Poke? Ok, I'm here for it. My friend and I both ordered the Spicy Polynesian Poke Bowl and my friend ordered a 4 piece Spicy Tuna Roll. I doubt they have a Japanese sushi chef on deck waiting for the sushi orders, so the sushi wasn't exactly pretty, but it was pretty good. Our poke bowls were a decent size, although that may have been because there are a lot of ingredients in it: spicy tuna, California roll, ahi poke, avocado, pickled ginger, crispy shallow, sliced cucumbers, chili sauce, rice, and some cilantro. None of the fun add-ins that I like in a more authentic Poke - furikake, or maybe some roe, but good nonetheless. Poke really needs to have the freshest ingredients in order for it to work, and I am happy to report that everything in my bowl was. The fish was also fresh which was definitely the main concern. No, it wasn't the best poke I've ever had, but it was good. Yes, I was starving an hour later, but that's what I get for not going the sesame chicken and rice route. Overall a better than expected experience. Quite a few people behind the counter and in the kitchen and very few people in the dining area so maybe cleaner tables would have been preferred.

Yelp
My girlfriend and her whole family, got food poisoning eight years ago on Christmas Eve from this place. Thought it should be known.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
This place has really gone downhill! Food was meh. We asked for bowls to share our soup, they gave us another soup container. All plastic ware, no real plates or silverware. It's also very empty feeling. Maybe they're are getting ready to close??
google avatar

Ana L.

Yelp
The place looks dark.. tables aren't cleaned, floor has crumpled napkins and wet drips all over. The young kids in the front and kitchen just shooting the breeze. Would have liked a friendly smile and asked what I'd like to order- instead I got a dead eye glance and a "what did you want?" The food is alright. To me it would have tasted better if it was clean and inviting.

Matthew W.

Yelp
Team was great and the food was Hot N Fresh. Love the Firecracker chicken.

Yelp
And the 200th review goes to --- Pei Wei. Yes, I know---how anticlimactic but it is what it is... After our disastrous experience at the Herndon Pei Wei, we were given gift certificates. Since we don't plan to ever return to the Herndon location, this one was the next closest. We got here around 5:30 p.m. on a Sunday night and encountered a line to order our food. With the gift certificates, dinner ended up costing us $3.47 out of pocket, so can't complain about that! We disliked this Pei Wei for entirely different reasons. First of all, the acoustics are terrible thus making for a very loud dining experience. I don't know why they bother piping in music since no one can hear it. Also, the tables are a bit too tightly packed in the place. As for the food---typical Pei Wei food which is to say *meh*. We both got the teriyaki bowls with vegetables and tofu, which had way too much rice in them and not enough veggies. As for the flavor---not bad but nothing to write home about either. As to whether or not we'll return---with bad acoustics and *meh* food---it's highly unlikely.

Sakita D.

Yelp
Love the quality of the food and the price is really spot on for the sizes they give you. I can never finish a dish! The veggie spring rolls are one of my faves, so DO try them. Since this is like the fast food version of PF Changs, you really can't go wrong. The decor is nice, the tables are clean and the service is good. We wanted to sit at one of the booths but the table was wobbly. I told the lady that worked there and she sent someone over right away to fix it.
google avatar

Jodie C.

Yelp
I've been here three times in two years. I work nearby and we come here for meetings once in a while. I have only good things to day about the place really. Easy to order. Customer service meet and greet is with a smile. Get your own drink, utinsils, napkins and what I liked was getting my own to-go box. I'm ready to go. I have leftovers, I get up and get my own to-go box. How easy! Veggie Fried Rice is good. Large portion. Wow. Also tried Sushi for the first time..I was nervous. It was ok. Spicey Tuna. Better than I thought it would be. Establishment was clean and well lit. Organized condement/utinsil table. No problems coming here again.

Jimmy H.

Yelp
Overpriced TV Dinners. Everything was hard, almost like they toasted the food in an oven. I remember eating at this Pei Wei 3 years ago, it wasn't the best, but it was much better than what it is now. Definitely won't be back.
google avatar

Yelp
I thought I would give this a try as I was staying near this restaurant at a local hotel. It was within walking distance so I figured, why not? I previewed the menu before heading over and had my heart set on pad Thai. I walked in and ordered from a gentleman behind a TV screen that had the menu on it. I ordered the edamame, small, the crab Rangoon, also a small, and the shrimp pad Thai with extra shrimp. I walked over to Wegmans across the plaza to get something to drink while my food was prepared.I came back to the hotel with my order and sat down to eat. I started with the Adam mommy, and they provided salt on the side, which I appreciated. Let's be clear, it's hard to screw up edamame. Next they went with the crab Rangoon. It was odd. It was small, the ends were overly crispy and too Brown, and the texture was just not up to par. But it was the Pad Thai which was the worst part of the meal. There was more tofu in that bowl then shrimp, and the flavor, well let's just say there really wasn't any flavor. I even squeezed the lime on it, I tried to help it along with the leftover chili sauce from the crab Rangoon. I couldn't finish it. It was without color (including the shrimp! See photo- Ewww!), gray, and unappetizing. No matter how convenient this place might be, I will never eat there again. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Gerry N.

Yelp
I ordered basic beef with broccoli with brown rice & a side of wonton soup. My entree was swimming in oil & pretty much the only domineering taste was ginger & sugar. The soup tastes like hot water with a splash of salt. Hard to imagine but their dishes while saturated with oil, sugar, & salt, still come out tasteless. Would love to support this place in light of the pandemic but there are smaller Chinese takeout places with better, higher quality food at half the price!
google avatar

Dan G.

Yelp
Can't beat the price for the quality and quantity of food. I got the orange chicken and vegetables for $6 (promotion pricing). Overall the food was on par to slightly better than other Chinese food restaurants in the area, but their different daily specials and promotions really put this over the top. The staff was polite and the good was prepared fresh, hot, and quickly.
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
The beef in my dad's dish was over-floured.... where's the beef? Any meat that is over-floured or over-starched is horrendous to eat. Fried rice also isn't like fried rice... I ordered the Pad Thai and thought it was ok... Not real pad thai but passable enough at these prices... until it ended up giving me a horribly upset stomach. And I don't have a sensitive stomach so I thought "well ok, let's see if it really is Pei Wei food" and tested it out over the next few days on my leftovers. Results: Pei Wei serves food that is horribly unclean or a strange poisonous combination of ingredients.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
The McDonald of Chinese food. Definitely an Asian Fusion place so if you're into that, then you might want to give place a try. Its concept is different where you pretty much order and pay for you food at the register. I do like the the simplistic menu where it doesn't overwhelmed you too much. However, they messed up our order and when I politely told them that was the wrong dish, the person gave us an attitude. We had to talk to a manager to get the order right. I am kinda of surprised of the attitude since they're telling me I don't know what I ordered? Service - bleh. Food - Decent I would only try it again IF there's no other option for me.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in after my trek to CarMax. In a very busy shopping center, a challenge finding a nearby parking spot even for lunch on a Friday. I was looking for a healthy option and my thoughts turned to their lettuce wraps. Always fresh, a great light meal. I'm amazed at how they always seemed to find the perfectly shaped lettuce. I like to sit at the bar and watch the orchestra of action behind the grill. These guys know their craft well. They were quite busy so it was fun to watch the four cooks spring into action as the main guy would read off the orders...in spanish no less. It's asian fast food but it's tasty and good and entertaining all at once.

Yelp
I would give pei Wei itself as a chain 4 stars! But this particular location only gets 3 stars I ordered online and made a mistake of ordering the "small" portion instead of "regular". The meal contained a large order of rice with zero meat. I literally counted 8 tiny pieces of chicken lol...I guess I will have to order the regular size next time. What a waste of all that rice! And then they didn't give us any fortune cookies in our bag :( that's one of my favorite things about this chain (the vanilla flavored fortune cookies) so sad! But I will be back
