"This historic Falls Church restaurant, a favorite of President George Bush and visited by countless other American leaders, serves up Peking duck, with leeks from its own farm, in an old-school white tablecloth atmosphere. Diners can round out a meal with dishes like black pepper beef or hefty egg rolls. To find even more duck, check out China Wok in Tysons Corner, where a Peking Gourmet alumnus is cooking up the iconic dish with particularly crispy skin. Peking Gourmet has some of the best Chinese cuisine in all of DC Metro area. I know they are popular for the duck but I encourage everyone who dines here to try their other dishes from the Chef's Special menu! Great service, and excellent experience!

We had a great time and great food at Peking Gourmet. The food was hot, fresh, and flavorful. Come hungry- The serving size is very large. I think one entree is good for two. We did not get the duck but the two entrees we had, beef and chicken, were both very good. Regarding gluten free, they can make many of the entrees gluten free, but not the appetizer or soups. While that was a bit disappointing, I was very impressed that our beef did not have flour because it was crispy and delicious. We will definitely be back!

Ok, so I was a bit thrown off because I know the area, but I never knew this gem was here. I was invited by my friends and they raved about it so I gave it a try. BEST DECISION MADE! The interior is small but very cozy. The service is impeccable, Sara was an absolute darling, as was John. The food is served family style, and this was a great touch because it made the dining experience much better. We ordered the Peking Duck, which was crisp and Juicy. The Garlic Chicken was outstanding, I've not eaten chicken that delicious in quite some time, and ya'll know I LOVE good food. The crispy beef strips were also great...the fried wantons were deliciously crispy and full of flavor. It is pricey, but the portions are huge, you can feed 10 people easily, and everything is fresh, hot, and well seasoned. I am looking forward to taking some friends and family for a nice meal. Oh, be sure to get reservations. Otherwise, you will wait. Great job. You've gained a new customer who appreciates a fine dining experience.

Google
The only reason I give 4 stars is because of price of the pecking duck. We were able to do a half order at lunch for $38. That comes with the pancakes to wrap, a sauce and some green onion slices. I do not believe the hype about this for this price. It was good food, and great service. It is very out dated especially the bathrooms. For the price of just the duck alone they should be able to do some upgrades. We had an order of General Taos that was tasty and came with soup, egg roll, and rice. That was worth it. Would not make the trip again, it’s 35 minutes from downtown DC area.

Google
Best Peking Duck you can buy! The atmosphere is beautiful and the walls are covered with pictures of famous customers. The waiter carves the duck table side and the fat is separated from the skin. My husband loves the walnut shrimp! I could not recommend this place enough! The menu is huge! The service is always phenomenal. You will not be disappointed.

Google
A really old fashioned Chinese restaurant that looks and feels like what Chinese restaurants used to be in the 1970s. Known to be a favorite of Presidents and celebrities. Peking Duck is why people show up, but for anything else, expensive. Table service excellent, but the duck was a bit dry, the sauces a bit top salty and overly done. Not quite authentic Chinese, but if one views it as Chinese American cuisine, then you can't go wrong. Should order Chinese banquet type food; it feels like a location where one should be eating banquet food. Expensive compared to other Chinese restaurants, but it is popular. Most Asian locals are familiar with the restaurant - it's a restaurant where people go for special occasions, not necessarily a place to hang for a regular dinner.

Google
This is the first time I've visited this restaurant in 30 years and the food is still delicious! 😋 Never judge a book by its cover! Go inside and you will be surprised! This place has a lot of history! While I didn't order the Duck. It is the absolute best! These pictures are what we had today!😋

Google
This place has been a staple since before I even came to DC, and everyone comes for the duck. We had a moon cake festival dinner tonight, and the food spread was amazing! I only got pix for a few things.

Yelp
For the past 30 years,I went back many times. The food standard and service stay the same ,it's a nice restaurant I will visit and recommend it to my friends.

Yelp
Food and service is amazing. I love this place! Peking Duck is the best in America!

Yelp
We came to Peking Gourmet Inn for a birthday celebration, hoping the fame of this place would translate to a memorable meal. Unfortunately, it was memorable for all the wrong reasons. The food took ages to arrive, and when it did, everything was room temperature at best. Service was shockingly neglectful. Our server, Yang, spilled sticky sauce from the Szechuan beef all over my boyfriend's brother's hair, neck, shoulders, and shirt, then casually gave him a pat on the back with a half-hearted "sorry." To make matters worse, the dessert--a cheesecake for my boyfriend's mother's birthday--was served frozen. As for the food quality, it's hard to understand the hype. The $79 Peking duck was disappointing; you'd get better quality for a fraction of the price at a local supermarket. The green beans were drenched in oil, the Szechuan beef tasted sugary rather than spicy or crispy, and the calamari was so tough it was almost inedible. We thought the calamari would be fried, but I guess you would've had to specifically ask for that, which we were unaware of. The highlight of the experience? The water. After waiting what felt like an eternity, we finally got a refill. Overall, Peking Gourmet Inn was a huge letdown. Save your money and your time!! There are far better options out there.

Yelp
Pro-tip: The duck is a must, you can probably skip everything else. The wrap for the duck is a bit thicker than what I've had in the past, but it works. Highlights: The duck is one of the best I've ever had and I've had it in Beijing where the ducks come with birth certificates. From the way they cut the duck meat so long, the generous portions of sliced cucumbers and scallions, the juiciest portion of remaining duck meat - it's all perfection. I regret not eating more duck and filling my stomach space with the other dishes. Lowlights: Servers are a tad pushy with recommending dishes to order. The orange beef was really tough. The green beans are salty.

Jamie G.

Yelp
This place seems iconic in DC! The restaurant is homey and covered with pictures of celebrities and government officials. We went on a Sunday afternoon and had a reservation but it doesn't seem 100% necessary. The star of the show is definitely the peking duck! it's definitely cooked well and taste delicious! The spring rolls and soup were also delicious! After the duck we were so full and the extra entries and fried rice seemed unnecessary and a little lack luster. The beef and chicken entrees we got seemed to lack in flavor.

Yelp
Echoing other reviews here, Peking Gourmet Inn is expensive and the quality of food here is most definitely not worth it for the price. They do give you a big portion size, but I would prefer if we cut down the pricing and cut down the quantity. I was here for dinner last Friday with a few others and we found majority of the dishes to be pretty bland and boring. PEKING DUCK - 79 $79 for peking duck, with peking duck pancakes that tasted old, hoisin sauce, and the whites of a green onion. They do a whole performance with carving the duck and plating. At the end, we didn't even get to keep the leftover meat or duck carcass (I wonder if you have to ask?) and they took it back to the kitchen without asking. The duck was fine, but on the drier side. The skin was not that crispy and more on the greasy/soggy side. This was just OK. I wouldn't come back here for peking duck since it was expensive and it wasn't that good. GARLIC SPROUTS WITH PORK - 46 This is one of their signature dishes, but I thought it was just OK. The garlic sprouts themselves were fresh and crunchy, but the pork didn't add much value or flavor to the dish. It lacked a lot of "wok hay" flavor which was disappointing. FOUR-SEASON STRING BEANS - 29 This was fine. Pretty standard string beans stir-fried with onions and sauce. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I can't believe we paid close to $30 for a plate of string beans. You can definitely get something $10 cheaper elsewhere. JEO-YEN SHRIMP - 49 A couple of my friends really liked the seasoning and texture of the jeo-yen shrimp. Personally, I didn't like the batter they deep fried the shrimp is. The seasoning was fine. I personally wasn't a big fan, unfortunately. SEAFOOD PAN-FRIED NOODLES - 49 Lots of baby bokchoy, snap peas, king oyster mushroom, scallops, shrimp, mushrooms, etc. The king oyster mushroom was very rubbery and unappetizing. I did enjoy the bokchoy and snap peas though, since it soaked up the flavor of the sauce well. The noodles were not the shape or texture I thought they would be. Normally, it's a thin yellow noodle with a nice crisp and char on the bottom and a gooey, gravy filled top. These noodles were super thick. The dish for the most part was pretty bland. I felt like it could use a bit more seasoning. I ate the most out of this one, but only for the veggies. The interior of the restaurant screams peak 1990s Chinese restaurant. The decorations are definitely out of style, but somehow still comforting to me since it took me back to my childhood dining experiences as a kid. Unfortunately, the food is not good enough for me to want to come back, and it's very expensive.

Johnny K.

Yelp
This place is very good, but if I were to go back, I would only order the picking duck. All of the other dishes were pretty subpar for the price. The service was attentive. This restaurant is old, so the decor and ambience was a little outdated. I would go back for the picking duck, but the other dishes

Yelp
I came here for my mother's birthday, and it was probably one of the most disappointing experiences I've had. I normally post pictures with my reviews, but it is not worth it for a restaurant like this. We ordered Peking duck, Szechuan beef proper, green beans, and calamari. The beef was absolutely terrible and tasted like they poured bags of sugar into the dish. The other dishes were also just okay. The worst part of this experience would be the service. The servers name was Yang. He spilled sauce from a dish all over my brother's head, neck, shoulder, and arm. He simply said sorry and tossed a few packaged wet wipes. He then pats my brother on the back telling him he's okay as if he was his friend. Not very professional to say the least. The service was completely unprofessional and uncaring. The server just moved on like it was no big deal. It's safe to say, we will never be going back.

Yelp
2.18.24 My generous friend took me to celebrate a very belated birthday. I ordered the pricy peking duck, which cost $79. Apparently you can purchase half a duck even though it's not noted on the menu. My friend ordered the Sea Bass in Black Bean Sauce, which came with fried rice. We shared our entrees and really enjoyed everything. However, there was sticker shock when she received the check and was informed that the lunch price is only applicable during weekdays. It was noted in fine print and she didn't see it. The lunch price is $41 and dinner price is $68. The portion wasn't that big for $68; however, chilean sea bass is pricy. Although, I LOVE peking duck and it was good, I can't say it was much different or better than other restaurants to justify the price. I am likely to go someplace else where it's more reasonably priced. Our server was friendly and attentive so I give her accolades on her customer service.

Elaine S.

Yelp
Excellent Peking Duck! We celebrated a business lunch birthday, and had the party of five menu that included a variety of delicious choices including soup, and it was fantastic! Will come back here for this again. It was truly worth it!

Mary N.

Yelp
You quack me up! You'll walk into walls filled with photos of celebrities/presidents who have eaten here. The best peking duck place I've had so far. Not only is the duck good but the wrap is too. Other places just don't make the wrap the same. Yang Chow fried rice- a little wet/soggy but flavor was good Battered shrimp- crunchy but lacked a bit of flavor alone. So dip! No honey walnut shrimp here

Frank O.

Yelp
We came upon recommendation from friends and found the whole experience to be great. Half was delicious, half was underwhelming, service was excellent, price was a bit staggering. Overall 4 stars seems appropriate. Peking duck was the highlight of the meal. There is a show of cutting the bird at table side. I really liked that the crispy skin comes off, then they remove a layer of fat, and then sliced off lean meat. The wraps are a bit larger and thicker than other places. This might be less 'authentic' but makes it easier to prepare. I was a bit surprised that cucumbers with the duck are an extra charge? Jeo-Yen Shrimp was another excellent dish, large prawn that are lightly breaded and fried and then topped with a robust spice mix. The broccoli was for garnish (maybe blanched but is cold). Beef with snow peas, Mandarin LoMein, and 4Season string beans were all solid. The Chinese Eggplant was slightly Americanized, not quite the authentic sauce and the eggplant itself was slightly overcooked and squishy. Black Pepper Beef was a disappointment. The dish usually has small beef cubes and the beef is grilled, yet this one had large pieces and was fried, two changes that we think made the dish worse.

Kamryn E.

Yelp
Always a great meal! Definitely need reservations and you will rushed through your dinner as they pump food out and flips tables quick (only downfall) Must gets: The duck, always consistently amazing Crispy beef, 10/10 my go-to and favorite item on the menu Fried rice, delicious Green beans, expensive for green beans but they are SO good and it comes with a massive portion Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything!

Samantha G.

Yelp
Deliciousness is all I can say! This was one of my first meals out in 2024 and I loved it. The service is fast and the atmosphere is bumping. There were so many people there which did make it feel crowded but I loved the food. The drive was worth it! Will definitely go again when I'm in the area

Adrian B.

Yelp
I lit this place up several years ago for not being what it once was, but after a recent visit, it redeemed itself. Previously, they'd changed the pancakes that come with the duck to paper thin, but they reverted to the old recipe. Additionally, there was no wait with reservations. The prior time I was here, they were massively overbooked with a line out the front door and an hour wait with reservations. The only knocks were beverage service. I would have ordered drinks if given the opportunity. It seems like a lost revenue opportunity. The must haves in my book are the duck, jeo yen shrimp, green beans, Szechuan beef proper, and kung pao chicken and shrimp.

Yelp
Peking Gourmet Inn was a popular destination for Thanksgiving lunch! We got there early (a hair after 11) and were seated in the back dining area near the restrooms. One of the first things you'll notice when you want in and while walking through the dining area is that there are large photos of all the celebrities and dignitaries who have dined here. Being from Delaware, one in particular caught my eye. It was that of former Lt. Governor and U.S. Senate candidate S.B. Woo (from the late 90s). I may be the only one in the whole restaurant who would appreciate spotting this picture, but it was nice to see him celebrated like that. As for the food, expect to pay more than your standard Chinese fare. The Peking Duck is their specialty and the servers are very happy to demonstrate how to eat it with all of its fixings. Fatty part of the duck tasted a bit like pork belly. We also ordered the Hot & Spicy Beef. I liked the larger than usual sliced vegetables (carrots & celery) which allowed the strips to be a little more 'raw' and crunchy. Singapore Mai Fun was a little strong (curry) for the kids. Their standard rice has some peas and egg mixed in. As we walked out, around 12:30, every table was occupied. A little bit of a tourist trap, but definitely worth the visit. Not sure we'll go again soon, but glad to have experienced it.

Jessica L.

Yelp
Haven't been in in over a year and they've changed quite a bit. The old menu books are gone, they now offer cocktails (they're just ok), the duck is $79... Peking Gourmet is an institution and I believe that historic clout is all that keeps them going now. The food isn't bad, just not worth the ever climbing prices they're charging. I wanna say the whole duck was $50-60 even just a year or two ago and that was already pushing it. They don't even list a half duck on the menu anymore (though you can still get it if you ask). They charge $6 just for cucumber to go with your duck and the other dishes on the menu are overpriced as well. ($40 for snow pea leaves?!) Anyways, the duck is good but not amazing. The skin's not crispy and I've had better at newer high end Chinese restaurants in the DMV. I do still enjoy the tableside service. My bf likes to ask for hot peppers on the side. A whole duck is enough to feed two hungry people. We were starving so we also got the seafood pan fried noodle. That dish was absolutely enormous so I'd say that one is worth it. The seafood mix includes a little bit of real lobster as well. Only complaint was that the noodles are much thicker than is traditional for this dish. They are supposed to be crunchy, but the flavor was still good. We left with enough leftover duck for 3-4 more wraps and enough noodles to pack two takeout containers. Here's the thing, I'd be more than happy with the food if the prices weren't out of control. I'd also be happy to pay these prices if the food was outstanding. But it's neither, so I'll probably be back only for the sentimental value. I might recommend checking it out once for the cultural experience, but don't come expecting the best peking duck ever.

Aiden S.

Yelp
Fine dining Chinese food that will blow you away! Peking Gourmet Inn is THE BEST Chinese food. This place is the bomb! The peking duck is the dish you must order. They will carve the duck table side and show you how to make the perfect Peking duck pancake wrap. The skin is perfectly crispy, meat tender and juicy, and the pancakes are fresh baked and delicious. It all goes perfectly with a little cucumber and hoisin sauce. But there are other great dishes as well. The Szechuan crispy beef - a dish of crispy fried beef strips - is amazing. The string beans are the perfect vegetable dish to order. The black pepper jumbo shrimp are perfectly fried, crunchy, and jumbo-sized. And the black bean sauce sea bass is rich, tender, and creamy. I love taking leftovers home from here! A lot of famous people have eaten here, and their signed photos are all over the walls. John Travolta, Bill Clinton, George Bush (junior and senior), and so many more famous politicians and celebrities can be found on the walls. It's fun to see who you recognize, and in the fine Chinese dining atmosphere it really makes the experience unique. Go with a large group, at least four people, so you can all share the amazing dishes. You won't be sorry!

Rebecca O.

Yelp
I ate until it hurt because it was SO good. Amazing food. Amazing service. No wonder so many "famous" people have been to this gem of a restaurant!!

Steve K.

Yelp
Amazing ... just amazing. For the price, quantity is plenty. Will def be back but will need to save some $$ before

Yelp
I haven't been to this restaurant in over 5 years and it seems a lot has changed since then. This restaurant is popular for its Peking Duck so of course it was one of the items we ordered along with Spring Rolls, Combination Fried Rice, Chicken with Broccoli, Four-Season Spring Beans, Jao Jen Shrimp, and Mango Ice Cream for dessert. Everything came out fresh and hot; minus the Chicken with Broccoli. We had to send the dish back to get cooked again because some of the chicken was undercooked. Odd considering they're cut into thin strips yet it wasn't fully cooked through. This dish in particular is cooked differently than other Chinese restaurants. They seem to steam it here vs sautéed it in the brown sauce most are familiar with. It's family style dining and they brought the duck out first and let us enjoy that prior to bringing out the other main dishes. Everyone who worked there was very attentive and friendly. Seems they revamped the place up a bit and with that came the increase in menu prices as well. All the items we ordered came out to almost $300 before tip! A bit pricey for Chinese food in my opinion. I've been to other nice family style dining Chinese restaurants and have not spent nearly as much. Something to consider for anyone considering trying this place out.

Bradley L.

Yelp
Came here with a large group which probably impacted my experience. The food was alright. Highlight was the snow pea leaves off the gourmet menu. Was a little weirded out by a couple things though. For one, the group menus couldn't be scaled. We had 13 people and were asking about scaling the group menu portion sizes up to 13. They weren't able to accommodate this, so even though every person in our party paid the same fixed rate for the group menu, not everyone was able to eat everything. A specific example of was the soup on the menu came out in small individual sized servings. Definitely not the type you would expect to share. We received 10 servings of soup, so a few people had to pass up on soup. Secondly, the duck did not come with enough wraps. The wraps are fairly cheap compared to the duck but we were told each individual wrap was gonna cost us so we ended up just eating the duck straight up, which is definitely not an ideal experience.

Christopher S.

Yelp
Despite its notoriety for having served numerous presidents and dignitaries over the years, this is one of those big duck in a little pond type scenarios where even at the height of its fame, it was probably 4 stars at best but if one looks at the reviews over the past decade, there has been a steady decline due to the surging price point, the non-updated dining space, lack of competition, and more educated palates with the globalization of ethnic food. I was never curious enough to come here on my own since it's located in a sketchy part of town, but since it was selected for a special family gathering, the opportunity finally arose for a sampling of this local institution. Price point rivals and even exceeds Las Vegas casino up charges with one whole duck at $79.00 and standard Cantonese dishes up to double their regular amounts at more modest family joints. The one that really was the ultimate sticker shock was the sautéed pea shoots in garlic which is typically about $6.99/pound if prepared at home and usually in the teens at a restaurant since it's a favorite amongst Chinese patrons. Here it is priced at a whopping $49(?!). I was half expecting shaved truffles or gold flakes to come with that price although neither would enhance the dish from any gustatory angle. I felt compelled to coax my family from falling for such a heinous theft. Since the duck was the main event, we opted for some modest side dishes such as the sautéed green beans, salt and pepper shrimp, black pepper beef, lo mein, and fried rice. Everything was fairly mediocre with the measuring stick being an authentic 3 star Cantonese restaurant and the duck itself was nothing to write home about. Usually with authentic Peking duck, the skin has a candy like crunch, the meat is succulent, and the bones are often used to create a rich milky broth to be enjoyed near the end of the meal. Here the meat is a bit dry and might be overlooked due to the sauce and pancake making up for it, the size of the duck is rather small, the crispy skin doesn't have a particular crunch or enhanced flavor, and there are no additional courses from the bones or remaining carcass as other Peking duck joints typically provide. Would not expect the Chinese waitstaff to try to upsell their priciest items to us since usually they tend to be more accommodating to their own kind, so unless you plan to get your portrait on the wall of fame, there's no reason to frequent this relic.

Parth R.

Yelp
For being an unusually eccentric and beautifully decorated Chinese restaurant, tucked away in the most unassuming of strip malls in suburban VA...the namesake Peking duck is a dry disastrous mess of a dish. Don't let the array of familiar and famous faces on the wall fool you. You will pay over $50 for the duck, it will be hastily prepared table side, and you will leave unsatisfied. That being said the crab rangoons, although overpriced, are among the best I've ever had.

Lorelai G.

Yelp
I've been coming here for many years and this place used to be a 5 star rating for me. The quality has declined as the prices have GREATLY increased! This is very disappointing. The quality of the food is definitely not worth the price. I remember when the Peking duck used to cost $39.99! I cannot believe I paid $36 for two mediocre piña coladas. My family and I agreed to not come here anymore as it's not worth the price. Unfortunately it seems like many others feel the same way as me. I remember it used to be FULL of people! There would be a 30min-1hour wait. There was hardly anyone there last night. This is very sad...used to be one of my favorite places. Management, please fix the prices on your menu before you lose even more business. I would hate to see this place close down.

John M.

Yelp
I had not been here in many years. The Peking duck is their specialty. The waiter told us one duck was enough for 2-3 people. He forgot to say for 2-3 big eaters. If you get appetizers the duck will be enough for 4 people. Well the appetizers were your typical choices. I had the leaks (has pork) potstickers and they were delicious. Slightly too oily for my taste but still delicious. Now for the duck, it is carved at the table, served with pancakes, green onions, cucumber and duck sauce. You wrap the duck in the pancakes with all these ingredients and it's absolutely delicious. Typical Chinese restaurant decor and it gets loud when crowded. Highly recommend the duck.

Fatu D.

Yelp
The outside of the restaurant doesn't look like much but the inside is very nice. There are images of celebrities and presidents hung up on all the ways. The place is on the pricier side but so worth it! Our amazing waiter, Kenny, was attentive and informative on everything on the menu. We ordered the dumpling appetizer (not pictured because we were hungry ) which were so good and thick! They provide soy sauce and chili oil with it. We ordered the half duck, Mongolian rice and Mongolian Lo Mein because we wanted to try the combination of all the meats. The presentation of the duck is that they bring out the whole duck and cut it into pieces in front of you. Our waiter than created our first duck pancake rolls (idk what to call them) to show us how to properly eat it. My date previously didn't like duck but left fully a fan of duck after this meal. 10/10 The lo Mein and fried rice were great. I appreciated that the lo Mein wasn't greasy. The stand out was definitely the Peking lamb chops. I've never tasted anything like it but would definitely go back. We had way more than enough food and they take your food back and package it for you to go. Would highly recommend this place!

Kathy K.

Yelp
One of our favorite places to eat Peking duck, they surely know how to do it. We've ordered 3 between 7 of us- plenty and had other dishes-see pics below. Every dishes were tasty and had 2 bottles of wine to enjoy our meal. Service was good and the staffs are friendly but due to dining during the busiest time of the weekend, you must bring your patience. Peking Gourmet Inn has a display of famous customers visiting to dine there- you may see a glimpse of your favorite's photos. Ambience is loud and bustle with folks enjoying their delicious food. There is plenty of parking in the front. Hope you get to check it out. Bon appetite!

Mel H.

Yelp
We wanted to love this place. Instead, we found middle of the road Chinese. It is super pricey. You should know that. Prepare to spend $100+ for your meal with two or more diners. I will say that the cuisine is unique, and the shrimp with garlic shoots was good. This is one of their specialities and it is worth trying. The Peking duck is also nice. Pass on the orange chicken- it's mostly batter, and a rather unpleasant chewy experience. The Lo mein is middle of the road. We love Chinese food, and didn't find that this place was worth all the hype - even given all of celebs and politicians that have eaten there.

Kalvin K.

Yelp
I have had this restaurant bookmarked for years and never had the chance to stop by. Thankfully this past year I had the chance to. Seems like I wasn't missing too much to be honest. The restaurant is appointed in traditional Chinese decor with a vintage in the late 70s but kept well. The special here is the Peking duck, and while it was good, it wasn't worth the $41 for half a duck. In many Chinese bbq, you can get a whole duck for that price. The duck was a bit salty, but flavorful. Service was stellar. Will not be coming back.

Yelp
Local institution. Hot tip: if you go with only two people, they don't make you wait, so always let them know when you get there so we don't get stuck in the line of huge parties. Most of the items are HUGE, even the vegetable dishes. You may feel tempted to try and bunch of things, but only do so if you're prepared to have so many leftovers as a group of two. The appetizers and reasonably sized. The duck is worth it just for the presentation and table side cutting alone.

Yelp
I am sad to be writing this review because this restaurant used to be EXCELLENT and was our family go-to for certain special occasions. The old-fashioned decor is still charming and there are not enough positive words to describe the kind & attentive staff. The service remains excellent. However the food quality has declined PRECIPITOUSLY. We have been coming here for nearly 35 years. The walnut chicken was always my favorite--it was lightly fried with a delicious golden/orange colored sauce. I used to CRAVE it. My family took me here for my birthday lunch yesterday & ordered my favorite dish (along with other family favorites). The walnut chicken arrived as a dark red, gloppy mess. The chicken was heavily breaded, deep fried & tough. It was reminiscent of standard "sweet & sour" dishes served at cheap fast food establishments such as Panda Express. The difference being that Panda Express would not charge $34 for their glop. Two longtime staff members insisted that the recipe has not changed, but I have photos that say differently and I most definitely would not crave the dish we were served yesterday. The service was still great and they even brought me a piece of cheesecake with a birthday candle and sang "happy birthday" to me. Frozen cheesecake, but still, a nice gesture. However, in the end, our family chooses restaurants based on the food and my favorite dish was frankly, disgusting. Staff saw nothing unusual about it, so apparently, this is the new normal. We will not be returning. I miss the old Peking Gourmet Inn.

Yelp
A staple in DMV, a part of many families' traditions. I always celebrate Lunar New Year here. Food has been consistently amazing. Service has always been excellent. We ordered Pan Fried Chives Dumpling, Peking Duck, Fried Rockfish (New Year's special), Crispy Schezuan Beef and Bok Choy. Absolutely love the place and will always recommend and return.

Yelp
We went here for my birthday. It was my boyfriend's first time ever coming there and first time having Peking duck. The only reason they didn't get 5 star was because it was easily 85degree inside and we were sweating... ( I do not know how the staff was running around in suites) it was recognized that it was hot and someone brought out a fan but we did not get the flow of air... The calamari was nice and crispy, the Peking duck was the star. As good as I remembered it from 20 years previous. The duck was juicy and flavorful the garlic sprouts was a nice added touch and I loved that the duck was carved table side

Yelp
I got the walnut shrimp, shrimp fried rice, as well as the beef and broccolli with white rice (only ate the brcolli and not the beef because I do not eat red meat). The food was delicious!!! it was so good! the walnut shrimp was not super saucy but it was good! shrimp fried rice had a good meat to rice ratio and the broccolli in the beef and broccolli was pretty good! they had really friendly waiters and good service. the food came sUPER fast! the place is a sit down fancyish place with walls covered with famous people who came there and ate previously! i would recommend everyone go at least once! i hope to try their duck thats super famous next time I go! it looked dank!

Yelp
I used to come here a lot but this place def has gone down hill. Came around 5:30 on a sat and there isn't any wait unlike couple of years ago. The prices are hella expensive for Chinese food that isn't even upscale. $32 for green beans, I thought $15 at other Chinese places were expensive but this place is off the charts. The Peking duck was ok, the skin wasn't even crispy and the pancake edges were hard. The fact u have to pay $6 for strings of cucumber is a rip off. I think this place isn't worth it anymore, the garlic bean tips are like $50!!! The service is good but u don't come to Chinese places for their service. Overall meh and won't be coming back because there are way more cheaper better Chinese food in NOVA.

Yelp
Having a big increase in their Peking duck is the reason we stopped going. Since the brothers leaving, I noticed the quality has also been lacking. Food cost has increased but not that much.

Yelp
The price is double what it used to be but the waiter service is not up to that price range restaurant. The waiter is not attentive. He just took sauce away when i was still eating the duck. What a joke. They also charge $9 for extra wrapper when the price of duck is $79

Yelp
Yea the place is still pretty consistent. All the dishes on the preset menu is still pretty good, but pricey at $79 per person. We got 2 ducks for 8 people. Duck was still good, the table service and cut up was pretty impressive as well. People definitely come here for this old school Chinese restaurant vibe and duck show. With that preset menu, we got the seafood soup for everyone - also good. But the highlight was the Crispy beef and Salt and pepper shrimp. Both still on point. I guess my only gripe was just the cost. After ordering an extra lomein and spring onion dish we walked out with a bill of $110 per person. Yea wow... most I have spent on Chinese food.

Yelp
When we want to entertain family or friends from out of town we take them to this authentic Chinese restaurant. There's a reason celebrations are held here -- the good is great and the service first class.

Yelp
I have been going here since I was a child. I'm sad to say that the rumors are true - the food has doubled in price while declining in quality. I always ordered 1 full duck (it used to be $40 for a whole duck, now it is $80) and ours came out dry and sad looking. We were charged $6 for cucumber, which used to be a part of the meal. Their entrees have become OUTRAGEOUSLY priced. Almost $50 for a normal noodle dish. Green beans were $33. What on earth?! $180 bill for two people: 1 duck, 1 green beans and 1 fried rice. So the owners decided to skyrocket the price without enhancing their food or service. My heart is broken. Won't be coming back.

Yelp
This is a difficult review to write, because this place has been a family favorite for MANY years. My wife's family has been going here since it was just one dining room, prior to the expansion into the two larger rooms. The peking duck has always kept us coming back, which was the reason we stopped by with an out-of-town guest after picking him up from the airport. The duck was just "okay", but the prices have now become a deterrent. With tip, our bill for five people was over $300. Our standard appetizers (bbq pork and fried dumplings) are now $14. For a table of 5, we had 4 servings. ($56) If we ever go back, we will order fewer appetizers. 1. We ordered a duck ($79) and some extra pancakes. (a family favorite - albeit at lower costs - not so long ago, I remember the duck being $45) 2. We ordered a beef fried rice ($19). (the fried rice was the guest's pick - not their best dish) 3. And an order of Joe-Yen Shrimp ($49) (another favorite - albeit much pricier now). So.... about $200 in food. Then the drinks... 1 bottled sparkling water, a coke and three beers (Shingtao). You can buy a six-pack of Shingtao locally for the cost of one beer now at Peking Gourmet. ($14 each). Somehow, with taxes (VA + Falls Church), the bill was over $270 and then tip. Sorry, Peking Gourmet, while the duck is great... you have likely seen the last of us at your restaurant. I gave it 3-stars because of the service and the food, but averaged out against the now exorbitant cost of the meal. My wife and I agreed after we got home, Peking Gourmet is no longer worth it.

Yelp
I must say that I agree with some of the reviewers here that the quality of the duck has gone down. It used to be amazing -- and is still good, but not what I remembered from a few years ago. The best thing about the restaurant is the duck. Although the chicken corn soup was quite good as well. The bok choy with shiitake mushrooms was just okay.

Yelp
The food is Always delish! The Servers and helpers are always attentive even when busy. The environment is comfortable as usual.

Yelp
Just great. No way to get this kind of food unless you go to China. Get reservations. the restaurant is chaotic, which adds to the atmosphere as the service is spectacular.

Yelp
Had to give it a try after hearing all the hype! And I'm a huge fan of Peking duck. The restaurant was definitely a cool experience - walls covered with pictures of the owner with famous people that have eatern there. The duck was good, but was definitely pricier than some of the other places I have been to. We also tried the Seafood Pan-fried Noodles which was absolutely incredible and had a lovely crunch to it. Main reason for the 3 stars was that the duck was good but did not exactly live up to the incredible hype.

Yelp
Not my Chinese style taste . We ordered the thick noodles like udon kind of noodles with chicken, beef, mushrooms and vegies, not a bad dish but it doesn' have the depth flavor for me. Food taste is subjective. The peking duck is good, peking duck or roasted duck taste good, fatty taste. I cannot enjoy eating when theres a lot of people watching you eat and waiter keep asking if everything okay. Let me have my first bite.

Yelp
Always a treat at Peking! My go-to sides are garlic sprouts (if they have them!), jao-yen shrimp, and some type of veggie! Really great for groups/celebrations, and always call ahead to reserve a table! Parking is a little bit tight but the food here is worth it.

Yelp
I ordered the "Lunchbox" special Kung Pao Chicken, Eggroll, Wonton Soup. Placed order by phone for pick up - nice, polite, efficient staff: 5 Stars - Egg Roll was one of the greasiest I've ever had: 1 Star - Kung Pao Chicken was full of MSG or Salt, a very high amount - the chicken was very low quality, all dark meat, overcooked, and rubbery: 2 Stars - Wonton Soup was incredibly bland, no taste really: 1 Star I have actually had worse, so am giving a combined rating of 2 Stars. Check out my other reviews for Kung Pao Chicken across DC and the VA/MD suburbs if you want to know where to go for the best quality and taste.
