Came in for an early dinner so it was very quiet and not busy.
We did not order appetizers but did choose four entrees. Each dish arrived quickly and steaming hot.
First was sweet and sour shrimp, which was perfect. The fried coating was crispy and thick. The sauce had enough sweetness to bring out the flavour of the shrimp.
The veggie egg foo young was served in a thick and creamy gravy. Lightly fried and full of veggies, this dish was a huge hit.
Next up, the crispy eggplant in garlic sauce. The fried coating was so crisp and good, but I didn't taste the eggplant too much in this dish. There was a light sauce, along with matchstick sliced veggies. Very good!
Lastly, we ordered the shrimp with bean curd. I didn't have any of this but my son said it was excellent. The tofu was soft, and served with shrimp and veggies in a sauce of some kind.
The atmosphere took me back to when I was a kid in the 80s and going to restaurants was a thrilling treat. It has an old school vibe with the red booths and chandeliers over each table.
Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and served a pot of tea immediately. In addition, the portions were very large.
The only negative is there is a layer of dust and grime on the booth, sauce carousel, etc. It looks like nothing has been wiped down in years and my son said the bathroom was atrocious. Maybe that's not a huge deal to you? I was pretty hungry then so I ignored it. I'm not hungry now, so it's worth mentioning.
Good food, parking, fast service, just a little grimy in spots.
