12 Houston Restaurants Serving Flavorful Beijing Duck

"Located in Asiatown’s Dun Huang Plaza, Peking Impression draws in diners from all corners of the city for its Beijing duck, available in half or whole portions. Thick slices, revealing only the duck’s crispy exterior, arrive tightly packed together, and upon closer examination, fatty meat with juices dripping entices from within. Guests are offered the choice of having the meal with duck soup or fried duck bones." - Megha McSwain

Peking Impression is a gem! Their Peking duck is hands down the best in town crispy skin succulent meat and perfectly served. The soup was a delightful start warm and comforting. The eggplant dish burst with flavor and the salted egg yolk tofu was absolutely divine a must try! The sweet and sour pork nailed the balance of crispy texture and just the right amount of sourness. The salt and pepper squid was tasty though it could’ve been a touch crispier. Overall an incredible dining experience can’t wait to return!

I had a really great experience at Peking Impression, and I’m already looking forward to going back. The Peking duck was absolutely the highlight; crispy skin, tender meat, and so full of flavor. Wrapping it in the thin pancakes with the fresh veggies and sauce just took it to the next level. Every bite had that perfect balance of savory, crunchy, and a little sweet from the sauce. I also tried the salted tofu, and they were a nice surprise, simple but really satisfying. They had a good salty bite without being overwhelming, and the texture was just right. The whole meal felt really well-prepared and thoughtful. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel at home and makes you want to come back.

This is a bueno as place we just stumbled into and im glad we did. I ordered the Fish soup with pickled cabbage, outstanding! I still dream about it to this day! We also had mongolian beef and general Tso chicken. So freaking good! I'm going back for that soup.

My mouth was full of fat & oil aftet this meal. My stomach was floating because all of the dishes were too oily. I’d expected a lot about the peking duck but it was the one disappointed me the most. The skin wasn’t even crispy. As soon as I bited the skin, my mouth was full of the duck fat. Only the sting bean was 4/5, a bit salty to me. The beef, kidney, and salt egg shrimp were so … 😫😫 The servers didn’t pay attention to us.

This restaurant is popular with young families with small children. The type of food served includes spicy, deep fried, and sweet-and-sour dishes. They are all edible but not very authentic Chinese food. The Peking duck was OK. The duck was sliced and served in two small oval plates. The soup of the duck bone was also fine. However, the pancakes definitely looked like they were machine made and too thin. Some veggie dishes like Japanese Tofu and Dry-fried string beans were tasty. It was a busy day when we visited and the service was not attentive. In all, I give it 3 stars.

We went on a Wednesday evening kind of late (past the dinner rush) and it wasn't crowded but there were more people than I expected. Even though there were bigger open tables, our party (4 adults + a baby) were seated in a booth with no room to stick a chair at the end so my husband and I had our 1yo crammed between us in a booster seat. Other than this one thing, the server was fine, didn't pressure us to order more as other reviews have been saying. We ordered the duck, eggplant and green beans, and Japanese tofu. The duck was definitely not a full duck. I think a regular chicken has more meat than we were served. The presentation was pretty nice so maybe people don't notice. It's probably something like 2 ducks every 3 orders or something. Also the duck was dry and the skin a little chewy. You can tell it's not fresh. The Japanese tofu was quite salty but the squid cooked perfectly-- very soft. The eggplant was decent too. All in all, I would consider maybe returning for the other dishes but for a place whose name is Peking Impression, I really expected their duck not to be so much of a rip off.

Amazing roasted Beijing duck, extremely friendly service! The roast duck came with a refreshing duck soup. Highly recommend!

Google
We heard about them so we decided to try. Their tables were filled so they asked us to come back in 10 minutes. We left and came back and they had a table available for us. We ordered the whole duck and salted egg yolk tofu. The duck (crispy and flavorful) and duck soup (had clear noodles in there) were good. The tofu was surprisingly good. Some were hollow and missing the tofu. We will definitely come back to try their other dishes.

Yelp
Enjoyed the peking duck at this place - the meat was super fatty and like that they have a duck soup using the bones and cabbage sauerkraut - not sure what this is called in English lol. There is the usual pancake wrap, cucumber and onion to wrap them with. I have had better peking duck - a bit leaner duck and cripsy skin but its not bad here. The pork belly stew was good, meat was very tender and fatty. Pepper fish was alright. It wasnt super crowded when we went on a Sunday afternoon at 2pm. Service was decent.

Yelp
If you are looking for peking duck, you have come to the right place. The restaurant is small and if you come during peak hours expect a wait but don't be discouraged I think it's worth the wait! This is a casual dining joint but the food quality says otherwise. I ordered the whole peking duck order and it came with a side of duck soup which I love! The peking duck is super crisp, served with a side of julienned cucumbers and scallions, hoisin sauce and thin pancakes to wrap! The soup was a light clear broth, in which the duck carcass was simmered in, with clear noodles and slices of napa cabbage. It was a nice side to help cut the richness of the peking duck.

Yelp
I used to ALWAYS take my friends here and recommend this place to others. But I can confidently say I will NEVER come eat here ever again. If I can give a zero I would. The past 4-5 times I came here, the waitresses were always super rude and always talk shit and gossip thinking I can't understand them because they speak in Chinese. I always came back with the mindset of "oh it's just how Chinese people working service industry are" and I just need to ignore them and enjoy my food. But the consistent poor behavior finally became unbearable to me. And on top of that, my family got food poisoning. Unless you want to put up with terrible services, go elsewhere. There're plenty other restaurants in Chinatown with the same dishes, same pricing, fresher ingredients, and much better service.

Yelp
We had to check out Peking Impression to see how it measures up. The order: salted egg yolk tofu - it was crispy and tasty but also a little greasy. Peking duck- good flavor... the skin could been a bit more crispy. Duck soup- tasty and comforting on a cold day Green beans - crispy and delicious Intestines- surprisingly good. They were cleaned really well and absorbed the seasoning and the peppers were a nice compliment. This is a family establishment with limited tables. Service was quick and efficient Shared parking is annoying but they do have a garage parking too.

Yelp
If I'm honest, I like duck but I don't. What annoys me about eating duck is having to constantly watch out for bones because of the way they tend to be cut and served in dishes at restaurants. This makes extra work for me to do when really I just want to eat. So because of this, I had strayed away from eating duck. Until Peking Impression. My Houston local friend named Lily highly recommended this spot because she and her sister love eating their duck. I was 80% excited because I had not eaten duck in a while, but that leftover 20% was just mentally preparing myself for the bone work. However, when we pulled up to this restaurant, I was surprised to see that the duck dish in question was BONELESS :) so the joy continued to fill me. It was pretty busy for a Friday night but the service was quick! We ordered the half order of duck which came with duck soup, duck meat already cut into bite sized pieces, and something I've never seen before--"pancakes". Lily explained to me that the cultural way to eat duck is with this very thin rice paper like pancake. So the routine was grab a pancake, fill it with duck meat, veggies, sauce, wrap it into a roll, and go to duck heaven. The duck skin was juicy and fatty and the meat altogether with the pancake and veggies was just perfect. The half order graced us with 6 pancakes each and that, along with the duck soup made for a perfect Friday night.

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant located in the heart of Chinatown! On this occasion, I tried the Salt and Pepper Squid, Cumin Lamb, and Dry-Fried String Beans. The squid was very tasty, but a bit too much batter. The lamb was very tender and flavorful. The string beans had a nice crunch to them. Overall, I had a good experience here. The food was very tasty and well seasoned. The interior was beautifully decorated. I will definitely try out the Peking Duck on my next trip!

Yelp
Found my new favorite Chinese place in Bellaire!! Every dish I've tried here has been a hit. Their duck is really good and authentic, reminds me of the ones I'd get in China. The egg yolk dishes are good, I've had both the pumpkin and the taro version (I like the pumpkin one slightly better). They have spicy and non-spicy options for everyone which is nice for a large group. Their service and ambience has improved a lot over the past few months. Servers are really attentive and polite!!

Yelp
The food at Peking Impression is pretty delicious. We ordered the half duck, General Tso's chicken, and the combination fried rice (without the pork). First impressions of Peking Impression walking in: Filled with families and large groups of people celebrating. Round tables filled with extra chairs to accommodate everyone. Very family friendly vibes. This also indicates to me that they mean good food because I wouldn't expect to see this many families. Another thing I noticed is that it is BYOB so I think that's why there were large friend groups as well. The half duck was very good. Came with the paper thin pancake which enveloped the duck, scallions, cucumber, and the hoisin wrapped everything in very tightly. The General Tso's chicken came with a bowl of white rice. The chicken had just the right amount of spice. I am not sure which pepper they used but it was jalapeño adjacent. Very delicious. The fried rice had too much chicken and the shrimp had no flavor. The bits of beef inside were tasty. I would love to return to Peking Impression and try more dishes from their expansive menu.

Yelp
Crispy skin, tender duck to be found here! Definitely happy to find a good Peking duck closer to town. I've been twice now and the duck has been top notch both times. The duck soup is also more flavorful than the other popular duck places. So why not 5 stars? Inconsistency and service. TLDR; Crispy, yummy duck but would only go back at off hours. Food execution seems inconsistent too. Price point about the same as the other popular duck places. First time I went I was ready to give 5 stars. I showed up 15 min after opening on a weekend and was the first and only table for a while. Half duck and soup came out 15-20 min after I ordered, which was expected. The skin was wonderfully crispy and there was more than enough skin for every bite and even had leftover. The cucumber and onion slices were also plentiful so I didn't have to ration. Meat was tender and juicy. Second time, we showed up on the weekend around 12:30 and that was a mistake. After ordering, it took an hour and 5 minutes for the duck to show up. At that point we could have driven to Bamboo House and gotten our duck. Good news, the duck was just as good as the first time, but the wait was insane. Pro tip: don't go at peak times. As a small restaurant, I think they can only accommodate 2 duck orders at a time, and we snagged the last empty table, so had to wait for 4-5 other ducks to get served before it was our turn. Even worse, our duck soup had no vermicelli. When I pointed it out to the waitress, she stirred around in our bowl and managed to find one noodle. Then she said it just looked like they put less than usual. I'm sorry, how is one noodle ok? And after waiting an hour for food, didn't even offer to make it right? 2 hours at a restaurant in Chinatown is way too much time. Don't come here at peak times unless you're ready to wait.

Yelp
My whole life I've eaten peking duck the Cantonese style, since this is how they serve it at the Vietnamese/Cantonese style restaurants (similar to roast duck). Since this was my first time eating this type of peking duck, I was very impressed. I loved how much skin there was and how we got the thin pancakes instead of the huge baos with Cantonese style peking duck. It really lets you appreciate the flavors of the peking duck. The skin was nice and crisp and you can hear the crunch of it when you bite into it. It's around $30 for the half size combo that comes with the soup that's made from the duck bones. It's really nice having the mild flavored soup after having some of the greasy duck to wash it down. The soup comes with some good chunks of duck bones and glass noodles too. My friend also told me the proper way of eating it is putting the scallions and duck into the pancake with the sauce. The sugar is apparently to sprinkle on top of the skin and eating it separately. And you eat the cucumbers in between to cleanse the palate. I basically just threw everything together though and it was delicious. One thing my friend pointed out was that the duck here is greasier compared to other peking ducks she had, but since this is my first time having peking duck this way, I don't really have any complaints. Customer service is always great. Very nice and friendly and food comes out pretty quickly, but I also go when there is just one or two other people in the restaurant.

Yelp
Can't believe it's taken me so long to finally give this place a try! Peking Impresseion is kinda tucked away in this bustling conplex, and once you've stepped inside, it felt as if you're away from the usual pace of the area. I'd say first and foremost, GET THE PEKING DUCK, you won't regret it! By far the best in Chinatown now, for us. The skin was delightfully crispy, and the meat was succulent and not dried, and the wrap was thin yet stretchy. It was a quite fatty for me by the end though, so be warned that the duck fat may be too much! We also ordered a few other dishes, including: - Salted egg tofu: Meh, I wish the salted egg was more prominent. It didn't enhanced fried tofu much for me. - Braised pork belly? (I forgot the name): meh, very standard as well. Dongpo pork that I have elsewhere definitely had better taste - Pork blood, tripe, fish, ham stew: It was alright, lacking flavor for us too. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the Peking Duck! Other dishes didn't wow me as much.

Yelp
The best Peking Duck I've had in town. Old school Chinese cuisines. The furniture is a little mismatched and the wall paper is clearly a hold over from another concept. It all adds to the charm. Had some really impressive dishes here suggested to us by the waitress. Overall a good experience, would bring others to try

Yelp
Yum! You must get the peking duck and salted egg tofu if you come here! They are so special and done so well! String beans, and salt and pepper fish were also good. The not so good included the sweet and sour pork - the pork was done too well and hard to chew. Also not a fan of the ginger slices on top. Overall, come here for great food if you order the right things!! Dessert (sweet potatoes in hard caramelized sugar) is also good, but make sure you order this AT THE END!! If you order earlier, they will bring it earlier and all the potatoes will be totally hardened and impossible to eat! Plenty of parking in the plaza. I am definitely coming back here for the peking duck and salted egg tofu! They are so good and done well here!

Yelp
Came here on a Houston trip with my mom and she suggested this restaurant because she liked their Peking duck when she last came here. We ordered both the duck (requested the duck bone broth with it), and baked tofu with salted egg yolk. The duck was good overall, I think some pieces of skin were a bit fatty, but for the price, it was a steal! In Austin, the places that serve Peking duck either run out of supply or charge egregious amounts for it. I enjoyed the Baked Tofu as well, but I found it a bit too one-note and salty after eating a lot of it. I prefer my crispy tofu with a sauce or something acidic to cut into the saltiness. Overall, for the amount of food we got, I thought this was a great deal. The food came out very quickly as well.

Yelp
Hands down the best Peking duck in Houston. It most resembles how the restaurants in Beijing cook them. In terms of the crispy duck skin, the knife work, the thin crepes/wraps, it is a solid, solid entree. At $45, it is on the high side of ducks in the area but we'll worth it if it's up your alley. Located in Chinatown next to the 50 boba shops, it's got a decently modern interior inside. Service is friendly actually here and it's a mix of Beijing dishes and Sichuan dishes. The duck is a must get, and everything else is good to alright. Would suggest the duck and a supplemental one or two dishes to compliment and call it good!

Yelp
The food was delicious. It was my first time eating Chinese meatballs and I loved it. Peking Duck is an all-time favorite and you can order it without ordering one beforehand.
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
I came here excited to try a new Peking Duck place in Houston. Wow, I left disappointed. I got the 1/2 order Peking Duck, which came with soup. The duck was fatty to the point of being inedible. There was very little meat, and I felt like I was eating straight lard. I couldn't stomach it. The soup was alright, too salty for my preference but my friend liked it. I also felt the 1/2 order was smaller and more expensive than other comparable restaurants in the area. On a positive note, the service here is superb -- very friendly and cheerful, eager to help. The interior decor was also unique, their chairs have various Hollywood stars on their backs. But I wouldn't come back here just for service and interior decor -- you're better off finding Peking Duck somewhere else.
google avatar

Matthew C.

Yelp
The duck is flavorful, the wraps are yummy, and the service was quick and friendly! The tofu was also another highlight.
google avatar

Ha C.

Yelp
Small restaurant & they do have 3-4 tables to accommodate party up to 8? Accept credit cards, but with split up payment, can only be done with one card per transaction. The Peking duck is good and crispy but after awhile it gets heavy and overwhelming from all the grease. The pak are was nice and thin. One Peking duck for 3 adults and 4 children was quite hard to finish. The salted egg fried shrimp was good. Nice big shrimp but also can be overwhelming from the saltiness. We chose the duck soup option instead of fried duck bones for our Peking duck. It helped cleanse our palette. Friend said plenty of meat on the bones.
google avatar

Donna D.

Yelp
Amazing food!! Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. The service was great as well.
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered a full duck. It was fine. Wasn't as hot as I expected. The duck soup was lukewarm warm. I've been here twice before, but this time it wasn't as good. Probably not be coming back.
google avatar

Caroline N.

Yelp
Came back to try again, and I'm glad I did. My previous visit was when they first opened. So maybe they finally found their rhythm. The Peking duck this time is was on point! Duck was actually hot, skin crispy, and meat was moist. Even the soup this time had more flavor. I also ordered the fried duck and may actually prefer that over the duck soup. Still really like the pancake, it was thin but not too thin. Definitely will be back.
google avatar

emily c.

Yelp
I came here the past couple months twice and asked for the Peking duck...you have to order ahead in the am before you come. My few last minute attempts did not guarantee me with a duck. First time in November I was promised only half a duck but obviously I wanted a whole duck to feed 8 people. I only had one small piece myself so others can eat. Yup half a duck for 8 is too little. If this dish is your money maker I would think you would or should try to make more of it. Second time was worse, I was guaranteed half a duck on the phone but supposedly a table ahead of me ordered the half that belonged to me...so yes all that effort no duck. I'm happy other dishes here are pretty decent but "Peking" impression makes me think of Peking duck. I wish others luck but your chance of getting a duck should be better now that the holidays are behind us.

Yelp
Food Review: 1) Peking duck -- Tender and juicy meat, crispy skin, thin pancakes, savory sauce, and julienned vegetables create a balanced, texturally pleasing roll. Only downside: not enough meat on the skin. Rating: 4.5/5 Duck soup -- Clear noodles are scarce, and too many bones. Rating: 4/5 2) Bean sprouts -- Overcooked and unimpressive. Rating: 2/5 3) Deep-fried small yellow croakers -- Crispy outside but lacks internal flavor. Rating: 1/5 4) Farm-style braised yellow croakers -- Very tender, super juicy, impressive. Rating: 5/5 Service -- Excellent, especially accommodating for wheat allergies. Waitress confirmed ingredients diligently. Rating: 5/5 Environment -- Small, cozy place. Avoid peak times for a better experience. Rating: 4/5 Price -- Expensive compared to normal Peking duck places. $110 for 4 dishes and 2 people is steep. Rating: 1/5 Overall, the food is okay but not worth the high price. Worth trying if you've never had Peking duck before.

Yelp
Came in for dinner and was going to try the Peking but decided to try all the other dishes instead. Price here are pretty high but the portions justify it. 3/5 Service was pretty awful when we came in. They sat us down and no one came to us for a while. When the person came they told us to change table so we sat there for some time so they could transfer us. Then after we were moved took a while for anyone to be flagged down and when they did they were rushing while I was ordering. It wasn't even busy it was half tables full at most. After we ordered and the food came out there were no water or utensils. It started so bad I know it's Chinatown but come on. But as the meal progressed another sweet employee came and checked on us. She helped us with packing the foods as well. I think it was just that one employee that gave us a bad taste. Duck soup 5/5 They were not kidding when they said that this is really tasty! So flavorful and did not expect it to be so delicious. Typical places make soups very bland. There were some noodles in here which I enjoyed. It came piping hot, made a good side soup. Price was cheap for a huge bowl also. Would come back just for this! Pickled hot fish 4/5 Very huge portion. I've had spicier and more flavorful elsewhere but this wasn't too bad. It was mild but still tasty. Good amount of fish. Lightly tangy and savory. Beef and enoki 4/5 Also mild and not at all spicy but very tasty light dish. Lots of beef and good ratio of mushrooms. Beef was thin and cooked well. Salted egg shrimp 4/5 Seasoned well. Husband said was good amount of saltiness. The crunch was good and huge shrimps. I quite enjoyed the dish.

Yelp
Great duck spot. I think every table in the place had duck when we were there. When we arrived around 7:00 PM there was about a 15 minute wait. By 8:00 PM there were several open tables. The full duck comes with a large duck soup which included a lot of duck. As the duck is so much, we took almost all of the soup with us. The skin was fantastic but will note duck meat was a little more sparse. Severed with crepes versus bao which I greatly prefer - plenty for duck. I would say a duck with the soup can easily feed at least three hungry people. We also had the skillet beef which was fantastic, but most of this made the journey home with us. They are BYOB and we were not charged a fee. If you decide to need wine last minute, there is a market in the plaza. Will definitely return soon. As a note parking can be challenge, we try to make an evening when visiting Dun Huang Plaza.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. Parking is hard due to the plaza it's located in. We ordered the large Peking duck. Tortillas are great and duck skin was juicy and crispy. The duck soup was ok. I loved the green beans and salted egg shrimp. Service was ok and what you expect for Chinatown. Would come back

Yelp
Authentic Chinese food. The peking duck has been approved by friends who were born and raised in Beijing, China. Also, they don't skimp on the portions and flavours for the price point. On the weekends they are always packed with people, and it's become one of my go to places for delicious Chinese food. Some of their best dishes are Beijing style Peking duck because it is served with crepe pancakes. Skin is delicious, and very crispy. I also alternate between the lamb, and beef dry pot which is packed with delicious tarp and mushrooms to give it an earthy depth of flavour, with lots of sichuan pepper corns for the numbing sensation! The three cup chicken, braised pork belly, cumin lamb, and fish in chilli oil have all been spot on. Definitely give them a try!
google avatar

Darren N.

Yelp
We came close to closing and we were told we ordered the last whole peking duck. To our surprise it still tasted fresh and savory despite how late we came in along with the fact that we were a party of 7. However, my favorite dish would have to be the Three Cup Chicken because of its rich flavors and great texture. Not pictured is the Cumin Lamb which I do not recommend for anyone who dislikes strong spices. It totally threw off my tastebuds. On the TV they played videos of what it was like back in the kitchen and it intrigued me while I ate to see how authentic they were. This place is good for larger group settings. It was pretty packed once we got there so make sure to get a reservation for insurance!

Yelp
Impressive Peking Duck at 聚春园 Peking Impression, that's what I call it. I had to ask a friend who's familiar with Peking cuisine. It is an authentic Peking restaurant. Oh good. I love the interior and friendly service. This was my first time here. I missed the former version of roasted fish restaurant. It has really funky light fixtures made with used tires and ropes. The dark red mural highlights the loyalty to the emperors. To my knowledge, Peking duck is served with steamed bun. But this restaurant uses steamed wrap (others call it pancake or crepes) as thin as egg roll wraps. Duck meat had a unique texture, I assume it was different way of making it. I just had an issue on the duck soup lacking flavor. We had 4 people in the party. Waitress kept pushing for 4th dish after I ordered Peking duck, Mongolian Beef and Egg Yolk Fried Tofu. I knew that was way too much food. The little table barely fit everything. We couldn't move to a bigger table because they were all reserved. Fried tofu cubes dish was unique. Tofu was super soft and crunch crust topped with salty egg yolk sauce. It can be served as appetizer. Mongolian Beef was really mild with jalapeño as garnish. Bean threads in the soup were long and tangled. I made a mess as I served to my friends. Oh well. I was sloppy. Next time, ask for a pair of scissors. a

Yelp
The Peking duck here is soooooo GOOD! the portion was pretty big too. I was surprised when it came out on two plates. I almost thought they accidentally gave us 2 orders. The duck also comes with a giant bowl of soup and is served with pancakes. We enjoyed the eggplant dish, Japanese tofu, green beans and salted egg shrimp. I forgot to take pics when the food came out so all the pics I got were all half eaten plates already. Oops! Service here was great as well. Normally u don't expect top notch service in Chinatown but these ladies were working hard with a full restaurant.
google avatar

Winnie L.

Yelp
Service was great. Friendly and efficient service. Ambiance is standard for Chinese restaurant. Nothing special. It is a small restaurant so the tables are literally right next to each other. We were excited to try the Peking duck. The duck came out quickly, like 5 minutes after we placed the order. Felt like they have a bunch readily made in the back and they just bring it out. The duck was dry and the skin was crispy to a point it seemed like they fried it. We didn't finish the half order because it really did not taste great. We also ordered the salt and pepper fish and boiled beef with chili pepper broth. The boiled beef was way too salty. My husband loves this dish and always finish it. He likes salty food and even he felt the dish was too salty. Again, we didn't finish the dish. The salt and pepper fish was okay but we wouldn't order it again. Perhaps it was a bad batch of Peking duck since there were many good reviews. Maybe order other dishes but please don't order the boiled beef. It was so salty and it was not edible unless you want your blood pressure to shoot up from the rush of sodium .

Yelp
Ah solid solid Peking duck spot! The restaurant is pretty small, and they place tables pretty close together. I've made reservations via phone and it's been helpful. This def a family style spot. All their dishes are so flavorful! The Peking duck is so flavorful and crispy. They come with the pancakes (my favorite!) and a side of soup. We had the spicy crispy chicken, green beans, salt and pepper prawns. Honestly all dishes were perfectly cooked for us. Staff is very friendly and the service is SO quick. Will def continue to come back!

Yelp
First impressions matter. Made a reservation for 9 on Saturday at 7 pm. The restaurant isn't very big. About 3 larger tables and 7 regular tables/booths. Every table was full. They had 2 waitresses. So there is a wait time for general service. They were nice when we got their attention but they were also really good at ignoring us. (Lol but true) We ordered: Peking duck (+ soup), seafood + tofu, garlic gailan, spicy beef with taro, stir fry chicken, salty fried fish and shrimp with vermicelli. Peking duck comes with the wraps and not the standard buns. This was my first time with the wraps, it was good but different. The waitress suggested a 2nd order of the wraps since there was 9 of us and that ended up being a good idea. Salty fried fish was SALTY. Lol, everyone laughed at me because I kept saying how salty it was but it was. The fish was fried deliciously but even with the rice, it was a bit salty for me. The gailan, seafood + tofu and chicken was ok. The tofu was sooooo soft and soaked up the flavors of the sauce well. Spicy beef. I just couldn't. It reminded me of mala or Szechuan but no real taste. Just spice. The shrimp was split nicely for visual display and the vermicelli noodles added an extra flavor. Overall, def think the Peking duck is with the try. And the gailan. I'd try other dishes next time. For all that food our total was $168 which was pretty reasonable. Still tipped them the 18% even tho the service was not attentive. It was like having to wave at them for every little thing and then being ignored. Will try again when the hub bub is over.

Yelp
I literally named this place as my fave Chinese restaurant after calling 888 my fave Chinese restaurant a few hours earlier after my first bite of their Peking duck. Hands down easily achieving perfection from the crispy, juicy rendered fat, with the oils dripping down with every bite, it was a moment of 'I don't even need the duck sauce' feel in my mouth. Should I even continue with anything else at this point? For $45, you can feed everyone at your table because the duck is so glorious and satisfying, you don't need to eat a lot of it to feel like you got what you paid for.....but I ended up ordering 5 additional dishes on top of that so here we go... Peking duck 10/5 get it or get out Fried tofu with salted egg yolk dust 4/5 you expect a lot of the salted egg yolk flavor but it was just a kiss of it. You expect salt and pepper tofu based on appearance but you'll get something better. Throw some crispy chili oil on it and you'll level up. Green beans 4/5 I barely ate this because of duck Sweet and sour pork scoops 5/5, this is what you expect when you want authentic legitimately sweet and sour for real pork. Be careful cause.youll burn your mouth if you're impatient. Crispy, not dry and just enough sauce....omg I was mad this came last. I was already full by that time... Sesame chicken 5/5 if you're like me and want to try everything, even the Americanized dishes at Auth Chinese joints, get this dish. Everyone fought for it. Their technique of frying is just alien to me. Such perfection!!! Sichuan chicken cubes 4/5 every piece is crispy and every piece is juicy. At times you get the numbing and back of the throat spice you crave after eating all the sweet dishes listed above, this was the dish that I can't wait to heat up the next day and eat with homemade fried rice. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu. Probably next week.

Yelp
Came in for Peking Duck. Cost is $45 and can feed 2-4 depending on how hungry you are. Comes with Peking Duck and choice of soup or the bones fried in salt and pepper or one other option. We do prefer this type of wrap as opposed buns that some places serve with. We also ordered peapod dish and fried fish fillet as well (not pictured). We actually tried to cancel those 2 as we realized we would not be able to eat it with the duck, but was too late to cancel. Service was good, staff attentive. We finished the Peking Duck for sure since it's best eaten fresh and then and there. Soup was huge, felt like we barely touched it. Loved the touch of vermicelli in the soup. Recommend for those craving Peking Duck.

Yelp
You'll get a bang for a buck! $45 for a whole roast duck plus a huge bowl of duck soup with lettuce and vermicelli. This place is popping and crowded! The service isn't great but the food is! You know the place is legit when everyone speaks Chinese there! We also ordered the garlic shrimp over vermicelli and this Chinese sautéed vegetables for $16. Come here early or come after 8:30 PM for a table!

Yelp
My favorite Peking duck in the (Greater) Houston area is Bamboo House, but it is located in Humble (near IAH airport). Hence, when I crave Peking duck but do not want to go all the way to Humble, I will visit Peking Impression in Chinatown. I am a BIG fan of Peking duck, so I normally order one duck for every four people. However, if you would like to try more dishes, you can share one duck among 6-8 people. Other dishes are also decent, but my focus is always on the duck. Peking Impression offers salted egg deep-fried pumpkin/taro, but they seem to add a lot of sugar to it, making it taste sweeter than the one I tried in another restaurant.

Yelp
Hole in the wall authentic Chinese spot in Chinatown. Never would have tried this place if my friend didn't suggest it for his birthday. They were very accommodating to a large party. All of our dishes were pretty good. The Peking duck is served with crepes instead of baos which I heard is the more authentic way. I recommend the braised pork belly or the salted egg tofu. The portions are definitely meant for family style to share with others. The customer service was great as well. Our server was super friendly and engaging.

Yelp
This place is not very big, but the food is good. Went there with my family on New Year's Eve. We had the peking duck (no bones!) , and salty-egg battered egg plant, tomatoe beef stew, 3 cup chicken, brasied pork, sauteed yellow croacker, stir fried bean leaves, stir fried beef tendon, and salt and pepper pork. My favorite was the peking duck and the salty-egg battered egg plant. The peking duck came with a brothy soup, but it did not contain much mung bean thread. The duck was delicious and came with sliced cucumbers, scallions, and thin pancakes like they do in Beijing. The salty-egg egg plant actually reminded me of french fries with egg plant in the center. I could not stop eating that dish. The braised pork was tasty, but was not soft enough for my liking. They were very busy when we were there so at times we had to go get the server ourselves to ask for things. Overall it is a good place with decent prices.

Yelp
Food was great! It is really small and crowded inside. Make sure to call ahead of time to reserve a duck because they tend to run out of ducks before dinner service.

Yelp
Overall the food was pretty good, but service and ambiance is lacking. Pretty sure they are using the same decorations and chairs from whatever shop was there before. All the chairs had pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. Peking duck (4/5) Flavor was good, but knife skills were underwhelming. The pancakes that came with the dish were rubbery and hard to separate. Duck soup (5/5) Tasty with a clean flavor. Salted egg pumpkin (4/5) Cut very thin. Flavor was pretty good and portion was decent Spicy Boil fish in hot chili oil (4/5) plenty of fish and flavor was good. Spice was medium. Green beans (5/5) Standard but good. Flavored eggplant (4/5) Similar to eggplant with garlic sauce, but too sweet. Japanese tofu with veggies (3/5) Tofu was good. I didn't care for the fake crab or how thick the sauce was. Pork Intestines (3/5) My friends liked it, but the after taste to me is you know what. It's just not my type of dish. Pickled cabbage and vermicelli (3/5) Came with the damp pancakes. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. Service (2/5) My friend spoke Chinese to the waiters and you could tell they were being rude. She said the lady was mad that we sat at that specific table and wanted our group of 7 ppl to sit at a smaller table because she had a larger party. The other waitress told us to sit at that table and no other large party came that would have even needed the table. The restaurant was half empty the whole time we were there.

Yelp
Awesome Peking duck; everything on the menu that we have tried has been solid. The garlic shrimp in the bed of vermicelli is another dish we always get.

Yelp
We had peking duck and the meat was dry. Attentive staffs and food served in a timely fashion.

Yelp
Duck is tasty. The wrapper is thin and authentic, plenty to go around for the 7 of us. Have not seen the likes since Yao restaurant left the scene. Duck soup can only be called broth, hardly any vegetables, tofu or bean thread. The rest of the dishes, bean sprouts, fried yellow croaker, and baked pumpkin with salted egg were all tasty.

Yelp
We had to wait a little (maybe 10 mins) when we went there for dinner on Sunday. The restaurant is small with maybe 3 big tables, and we have a group of 7. We ordered the Peking duck with soup, salted egg tofu, cumin lamb, griddled cook pork intestine, sautéed pigs kidney, fried pork in scoop. Everything was delicious ! The duck was a little oily ( wished it was rendered out a little more) but nonetheless delicious! The crepe were thin, just the way I like it. All the dishes were flavorful with enough kick ! Definitely give them a try !

Yelp
We heard about them so we decided to try. Their tables were filled so they asked us to come back in 10 minutes. We left and came back and they had a table available for us. We ordered the whole duck and salted egg yolk tofu. The duck (crispy and flavorful) and duck soup (had clear noodles in there) were good. The tofu was surprisingly good. Some were hollow and missing the tofu. We will definitely come back to try their other dishes.

Yelp
The food is fire. Definitely come here for Peking Duck, best in Houston! Other good dishes are the pickled cabbage soup, beef brisket with tomato, and noodles.

Yelp
My family and I came on a weeknight to celebrate my birthday here. It's a tiny place but we made a reservation ahead of time to ensure we got a duck. There was one group here when we arrived and it was packed with people waiting at the door when we left. We ordered the Peking duck (comes with duck soup), three cup chicken, and cumin beef. The duck was perfect (displayed beautifully, came with the thin wrappers, not baos, and had fatty meat with crispy skin), the soup clear and clean, chicken was a tad salty, and beef had a great kick. The waitstaff spoke both Cantonese and Mandarin which was helpful. When I called to make a reservation the lady spoke broken English and I had to repeat myself several times and speak very slowly. It was hard for both of us to understand each other at all and she almost hung up on me before even getting my name or phone number for the reservation. Overall, I had good experience here. If you come I highly recommend the duck since that's what they're known for (it's the most expensive I've eaten in Houston so far at $45) it rivals East Wall's duck for sure and might be my new favorite.

Yelp
Great place for a family outing for a meal! Was looking forward to the Peking duck set and my expectations were matched. It comes with 18 pieces of pancakes paired with the duck, tasted both amazing great. I would've like if it was the steamed bun but didn't change my opinion of my review. Had a fish dish and a meat dish, R3, both were great in flavor and satisfaction. The fish was at a level of spiciness that wasn't overbearing but perfect. The meat was double fried, and covered with a somewhat sweet sauce, but still retained it's level of crisp. If you and a group are looking for a northern asian meal, come try this place out!
