"The gateway to Central Bhutan," Tony describes. He met with Dr. Nawang Norbu and Darren Aronofsky to have yak butter tea, yak jerky with spiced greens, yak cheese, dried chilies, ara infused with Cordyceps, a fungus that kills its caterpillar-larva host.

Situated at an elevation of about 3420 metres above the sea level, you will come across this Pass if you travel from Wangdue Phodrang district to Trongsa district. There are lots of colorful prayer flags and construction of large square-shaped stupa is going on. People usually visit this place to hang prayer flags. During my travel it was summer so little bit cloudy with light rain. I visited this pass to hang some prayer flags and I had wonderful experience. Time of travel: July 2018

Great place to have a tea break while on a long tour. There is a beautiful stupa located in the middle of the road for people to offer their prayers.

Made a stop over during journey from Punakha to Phobjikha. Situated in Wangdue district, Bhutan. There are some small shops there selling snacks and handicrafts. Even though most of them charge greater than MRP, you will definitely have something from there. There is a roundabout in the road with a Stupa. You can click some good pictures from there

It’s the one of the highest passes between Trongsa and Wangdi Phodrang. Just below this stupa a 300 meters towards trongsa you will find a rock where once upon a time The Devine Lama Drukpa Kinley sat on it while asking the name of the places far east of pelela to a lady. The questions are asked as I quote “ where will I reach after this and to this woman answered, you will come across Rukubjee. Again, lama asked, what is the name of the place after crossing Rukubjee, to this the lady answered, you will reach Chedebji. And next after chendebji, what could be next village, to this woman answered, it is the Tangbsibjee. Then lama immediately said that I won’t make a visit to places of three Bjee ( Bjee means missing opportunity ). “ I unquote. Then lama just made a wish and spread the master seeds in air towards the east direction from this particular place. So currently, our old parents even to this days, narrates that the mastered plants are grown in the fallow lands like a weed, which is actually a blessings of the lama Drukpa Kuenley.

Pelela Pass (actually Pele Pass as "la" is "pass" in dzongkha) is located on the Punakha-Bumthang highway at the elevation of 3,500 meters. There's the Pelela Chorten built at the highest point. On a clear day you can see certain Himalayan mountain peaks from there (unfortunately we didn't).

It is beautifully situated between Wangdue Phodrang and Trongsa at 3,370 meters above sea level. It is a sigh of relief and prayer of hope for safe arrival to their destination. The pass is cover with snow during winter and lush sea of green during the summer season. Over Pelela falls under Jigme Singye Wangchuk National Park, one with passion for birds and other wild life is a prime hot spot for exploring and taking photographs.
