"The “executive” lunch menu at the South African steak and seafood chain includes dishes like its beloved beef bobotie, curry chicken, and a solid burger. For dessert, the restaurant’s sticky toffee pudding is a seriously sweet finish." - Megha McSwain

I have been here 2 times so far. One with lunch on the weekend and one dinner on weekdays. Both experiences the host and staffs were very accommodating. The first one, the waiter was very knowledgeable and able to make recommendations based on my requests. The cocktails are great. My bf love the Madagascar mule and I got something light like Strawberry fresh. We has to say the grilled meat espetadas is great. The meat is moist and tender and not too dry at all. The second time was with a bigger group so we wanted a bigger space and they made it possible with the social distancing.

Great spot for birthdays and celebrations. The food had some unexpected flavors, everything was delicious and well prepared. The staff were all friendly and provided great service. While everything is "open" from a required-precautions perspective, there is an ongoing pandemic and incomplete population vaccination, so I was surprised and a bit disappointed that no staff were wearing masks in the indoor dining space that was reasonably busy - if you are being cautious about COVID exposure, you may prefer the take-out/delivery options.

We came here for dinner for our friends birthday. We had a large party and came in around 7:30 on Sunday night. The service was terribly slow, they were out of several things we tried to order, appetizers came out with the meals and a server split soup all over my friend. When we informed our server about the soup spilt all over her pants he replied "oh that's my boy". The food itself was quite good so we would like to return to try more food but think we will go to another location for better service.

You can eat South African food without leaving Houston, Texas. I've been to Peli Peli for Brunch several times and the food is always awesome. Today, I tried lunch and it was excellent. It came with two courses as part of Houston Restaurant Weeks. First, I had the bacon wrapped chicken. The bacon was crisp and cooked to perfection, which is great because many times some places don't always cook the bacon through. This bacon was cooked and crisp. I also had the flavors of South Africa steak trio in a butter sauce with potatoes and spinach. I tried the Cape Cod Cucumber Martini. It's excellent. The service is always good and the staff makes it a point to greet you when you walk in the door. I also love that the restaurant has a nice salt scrub to use in the bathroom while you wash your hand. It's an excellent end to your dining experience.

We went to celebrate our 10 anniversary, and it was our first time at this place. We were greeted with a complementary champagne form Steve. Social distancing and precautions are in high measurement, and temperature were taken upon arrival. The mall door is closed, so the entry is only from the patio side. Our waiter was very friendly, professional and patient. He recommended to us actually everything we had ordered, and he wasn’t wrong. Food was so good. I loved the shrimp skewer, and the Mac and cheese lobster is a must.

Highly recommended! I've been to Peli Peli a couple of times, and the food was delicious every time. My personal favorite is the Cape Malay Crab Curry. The crab tastes fresh, and the meat was plentiful and easy to remove although it can get a little messy because of the curry. Coat the crustacean meat with creamy curry sauce - a synchronized explosion of flavors/spices in your mouth. I recommend getting the peppadew slaw as a side. The tangy mango and sourness of the lemon help reduce the creamy fattiness while the cabbage, seeds, and cranberries diversify the texture by adding a bit of a crunch. To top it off - great customer service. Anyways, words can't fully paint the picture, so just go and experience the food for yourself.

Review from a year ago: Food is always amazing and service is great. They have some talented bartenders. Steak espetada, samosas, wings, sticky toffee pudding are all a must. Review from 08/05/2020: do not go here. We ordered food and they would come out and say they didn't have it or didn't even bother to tell us they didn't have it anymore and just gave us something else. They didn't even give us the option to choose something else. Shameful. When we went they did not have the kids burger or grilled cheese we were given mac and cheese. Food came out cold or incorrect for main courses and had to wait til half way done with the meal to get the missing sides or food reheated. We went for HRW and ordered desserts at the beginning the waitress comes at dessert time to tell us they didn't have sticky toffee pudding what they are known for and only one of the tarts. They gave us the only other dessert they have which is cheesecake. When desserts come out guess what no tarts. One of us doesn't like cheesecake and the other doesn't like toffee so two people hated the dessert. Poor restaurant management and poor chef management. Would not go here anymore. We were a party of 5 adults and 2 kids.

Jerry our server was AWESOME. Everything we had was well seasoned and flavorful. Good ambiance, definitely a good place for a date or special occasion celebration. I didn't have any wine, but I did look and they have a good wine selection.
