Google
Great location to watch the sunset. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. It's a local bar that welcomes visitors. They don't serve food but you can order from Dockside downstairs and they'll bring it up. It's my first stop when I get on the Island. You can sit inside or outside. LOVE their Bushwackers !

Google
Strange setup- bar above restaurant but you cannot get food and drink without going to each business (on different levels). The service at Pub was slow and not very friendly (maybe they were having a "bad day"). Also, dog-friendly policy was vague and conflicting... we brought our dog, since other reviews aaid it was okay. There was another couple with a dog on patio when we arrived. Then someone yelled down from Pub (from deck above), "Dogs are not allowed". It could have been a much better experience.

Google
A great friendly place to stop at, have a few beers with some of the locals and fellow travelers. Great views of the bay and service from Erin. It is upstairs but they do have an ADA elevator. We did not go to the restaurant below Dockside. We were too early in the day.

Google
Nicest people you'll ever meet! Loved talking to the staff and some other people from the Island who were there. They were very welcoming. This is a great small bar to relax at, right beside the water. Definitely go if you are in the area!

Google
I love this place. Food is good and the view is exceptional. There is an old bar upstairs that seems like the locals hang out after a long day. Nothing gourmet here, but it is good food and a fair price.

Google
This is a great little place to stop by. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a wall dedicated to showcase local artists which was fun to look at. The view is nice. The food definitely hit the spot, especially the sweet tea. It is neat that you can go up to the pub, order a drink, and bring it down to have with your food. I had the burger with fries. My daughter had the chicken tender basket, and husband had the fish tacos. Everyone enjoyed the food. No complaints. We will definitely come back when we go to Dauphin Island.

Google
I am giving 5-Stars because we love this place. However the bartender that was there this past Wednesday night, 6/11 and Saturday night 6/14 is terrible! Totally unfriendly and rude both nights. A large crowd on Saturday night is not an excuse to act that way, as Wednesday night it was a small crowd and she acted the same. We hate it for the pub, as some people said they would never come back after experiencing her.

Google
So much fun with my sis! 🎯 they have darts too. We missed out on the karaoke cuz none on Sundays! Bartender was nice. Atmosphere was nice. Jukebox too! 🤍

Yelp
If you are looking for a beachside dive bar in Dauphin Island, be sure to check out the Pelican Pub. Complete selection of alcohol, good selection of beer. No food options, but order from the Dockside Restaurant underneath for great seafood. Highly recommend the peel and the at royal red shrimp! (Save room for a piece of key lime pie for dessert.)

Norma M.

Yelp
we only ordered two lemonades with no alcohol and were charged $56.00. I didn't realize the charge on my card until we had left the place, so didn't go back to inquire about it. I don't know how two small lemonades could cost that price anywhere. That is simply robbery. !!!!!!!

Kimberly L.

Yelp
Not pet friendly on the patio. sign posted out front so we never made it inside. looked like a cool place though.

Yelp
If you're new to the island you have to have cold adult beverage, this is the place. Vicki and Dave are the best hosts. Darts on Wednesday night is a blast. You'll never meet a stranger at Pelican Pub!!!!

Yelp
Loved stopping by this very quaint little restaurant. It definitely hit the spot. Especially that sweet tea and my daughter loved her watermelon lemonade. The staff was very sweet and helpful. Wish I could have tried the pub upstairs (lol) but I am driving. I saw some of the drinks, apparently you can go get them and bring them down to the restaurant. They also had a wall dedicated to local artist. Will come back again.

Yelp
Best small town beach bar! The bushwackers are amazing!!! Try the restaurant down stairs, Dockside Seafood, best royal red shrimp ever!!!

Brendon M.

Yelp
Great little "dive bar" on the island. Number one place to go grab some drinks and meet some of the islands permanent residents.

Jaree H.

Yelp
Great bar with a fine view. The folks there are so friendly! We enjoyed passing time there and having a beer.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
This place is awful! Controlled by a terrible owner. Dear owner: This is supposed to be a public place enjoyed by all who visit, not dictated by your personal bad mood!!! If you don't want anyone to play music while they have a drink and enjoy the water views, remove the pay to play system. You may want to consider selling since your such a Scrooge of anyone having a good time!!!

Yelp
Bar is fine as the bartenders were friendly - 2 stars for them and them alone. Owner, Vicky, came to the bar and began speaking with us - which soon turned into her heatedly rambling on about politics. It was very uncomfortable, particularly as she casually sprinkled her sermon with various slurs as she presented a full-blown monologue on her political views. We were thankful when she walked away. If she weren't the owner, wouldn't think twice about going back - however we were just looking for a relaxed drink and this was a particularly unpleasant and extremely intense experience.

Yelp
Great dive bar! The views are great! Beer is cold and cheap! My kind of place! Definitely stop in for a cold one on a hot day.

Marci J.

Yelp
Pelican Pub was the place to get a beer or drink. We went on a rainy day when it had finally cleared up and the view was beautiful. The bar is laid back and has a very chill atmosphere. The bartender had been tending for years and was a joy to chat with. They had all the beer, wine, and liquor you could ask for while keeping the vibe light and easy. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be back!

Yelp
This is an adults only dive bar. Tonya treated us like family. It felt like being with my own kin folk in there. Music on the jukebox was amazing and the drinks were phenomenal. You can order from the restaurant (dockside) downstairs and they'll deliver to you at the bar. The most fun experience I've had since we've been in Dauphin Island.

Yelp
Had lunch and we both ordered burgers and fries, which were good sized and delicious! Went up to the bar for nice, cold beers. Very nice, engaging staff. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
This is the reason you travel. The hole in the wall bars and food. Was all delicious. I got the burger and shrimp tacos (so good). Tom (sugar briches by the locals) was funny, entertaining, and made the place feel like home. Hope to be back soon!

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere and even better staff! You can sit in the bar upstairs and order food from the restaurant and have it brought up if you want. Love it!

Yelp
The woman who served us at the bar was rude and inconsiderate. I am in town with 4 of my friends from high school. I understand being thorough when checking IDs but that does not give you the right to treat people as if they are less than human. Our IDs were taken and checked. They are real IDs from Oklahoma and we are all well over 21 years of age .We have Oklahoma IDs that are not The Real ID, meaning we cannot fly domestically with the ID in 2025 but the ID is valid in every other capacity. We will not be going back to the pelican pub and we recommend that others steer clear. As a bartender, you should be caught up on the different states rules for their drivers licenses. She admitted that she looked up the difference in Oklahoma IDs (which stated that our IDs were in fact actual IDs) and said that the next time we come to Alabama we should do better as if we have control over the IDs that our state gave us. I am not sure what she was implying but I'm not impressed with the rude ess that she presented to me and my friends. I do not recommend this bar purely from the rudeness of the single employee.

Yelp
Awesome bartender -- Tanya!! -- super friendly and the drinks are fantastic!! Gotta get a Bushwacker --

Yelp
Tonya is the cutest and most amazing bartender I've ever had. She's lively and sweet and makes bomb ass drinks. I love her and you should too

Yelp
This is where the locals hang out so you'll get an eclectic group here. The service is amazing! This is Island life for REAL!

Yelp
Stopped in for beers and had a great time. Met the owner, she is a hoot. Loved everything about the place. I will stop in again and will recommend this place to all my friends who are visiting the Island.

Cheyenne A.

Yelp
horrible food, took a group of people thinking this place would be good, inaccurate portions, embarrassing service. I can eat off of paper plates at home.
google avatar

Adam C.

Yelp
This is where the locals drink. A dive bar straight out of a novel. Pours are good and the prices are decent. It seems prices are a couple bucks higher all over the island.

Diane C.

Yelp
Had the cheeseburger and it was delicious and rather large. The cole slaw was very tasty as well!

Me A.

Yelp
I have lot of favorite places in this world but The Pelican is definitely one of my all time favorites. Dart night on Wednesday, the awesome atmosphere, & the great folks that own the Place. I highly recommend a visit & prepare for fun time unless Bama is playing. MIZZOU Rah!

Casandra C.

Yelp
Great place to grab some cold beers. Indoor or outdoor seating. Always a great view of the water. Everyone there was very friendly and welcoming. If you are lucky, Andrew will be there taking care of the music - his Jukebox picks are great!

Keisha D.

Yelp
Great no frills watering hole above the restaurant with a nearly panaoramic view of the bay and majestic Dauphin Island Bridge. We legit spotted a bald eagle soaring above as we enjoyed our Coronas on the little upstairs deck on a sunny afternoon. Pelicans and seagulls are a more common sight. This place boasts an excellent price point, modern jukebox, darts, friendly locals, and wonderful bartenders right off the water.

Yelp
This was out first trip to Dauphin Island and there are not a ton of places to eat or drink. We knew this and were happy to try out Pelicans Pub on our first night. This is a true old school pub, huge four side bar in the middle of the place and plenty of seating on the sides. Great service from friendly staff and even the locals greet you and get involved with the bar talk. It is like this islands very own Cheers! There is a nice balcony with a view of the bay, beautiful at sunset! Good beer choices, some wine and a few mixed drinks. Really should give them a try.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to watch the game yesterday. There are only 2 barrooms on the island and the option closer to the house didn't open until 2!!?? The Pelican a Pub put our game on all the tvs, made a great bushwhacker and Bloody Mary and welcomed us in. The bartender was awesome and we had so much fun getting to know the other vacationers we ended up staying and chatting long after the game was lost. We will be back for sure. Thanks for the fabulous afternoon!

Yelp
First impressions....it was dead during the lunch rush on Fourth of July weekend, that was our first clue. Our group was about 10 people in our mid thirties. We were celebrating a friend's birthday, so we wanted to try this spot for a few drinks to celebrate. We are by no means a rowdy crowd, we were just there to enjoy ourselves. We were immediately left feeling uncomfortable by the owner. I believe her name was Vicki, short blonde hair, accent, and a horrible attitude. She immediately judged us because she assumed we were 20 year olds going to trash her crappy little bar. She started talking about us to one of the locals that walked in. Speaking loudly about how we are all dumb witted, and because we had cell phones, and a few of us were on them. I was on mine to check on my one year old son back home, because your not supposed to text and drive, but thanks for the judgement Vicki. And our whole group there consists of very smart people who work in surgery at hospitals, work in education, and own businesses. So very successful people, who would have spent some money there, and maybe she could have got some matching chairs, repaired the deteriorating interior of the bar, or the leaking air conditioner unit in the bars ceiling. She was talking so badly about our group that we all just finished our beer, and left. We shortly figured out this town does not serve you, or talk to you unless you are a local. I will never go back to Dauphin Island. It is literally the worst place I have ever been. Especially this crap bar!

Yelp
Awesome place good local beer jukebox is great and the staff is incredible... Just a tourist from Kansas but I recommend it
