Pelicana Chicken Artesia - Review - Koreatown - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Pelicana is one of the most popular fried chicken chains in Seoul, so it comes with a big reputation—and the LA locations (mostly) live up to it. The original double-fried chicken is tasty with a nice crunch, but we prefer to go full-sauce mode here. The variety glazed in their signature sauce is sweet, spicy, and sticky enough that you should put your phone away before picking up a drumstick—it’s not making it out clean otherwise. Even the breast pieces drip with juice. They also have other sides like tteokbokki and cheese-dusted fries, but if you’re going to order one thing non-chicken, make it the dessert balls, a.k.a. the turducken of sweets. They're stuffed with either molten chocolate, caramel, or stretchy sweet cheese, then wrapped in a layer of warm mochi and coated in cookie crumbs." - Cathy Park

We stopped by Pelicana in Artesia for a takeout order, and they nailed it. From order to pickup, it took just 20 minutes, but what stood out was the attention to detail. Orders weren’t sealed shut, keeping the chicken crispy. The radish was kept separate until the guests came to pick it up, so it stayed cool without messing with the heat of the chicken. Little things like that make a big difference. The staff was all smiles, and by the time we got home, the chicken was still hot, crispy, and perfect. This is the kind of place that earns loyalty, not just for the food, but for the experience they create. Good food, great service—Pelicana gets it. Even my cat was impressed. We’ll definitely be back!

The chicken is ok. There are so many Korean fried chicken places nowadays and compared to others, it's just okay to me. I ordered the Original, Crispy, Soy, and Hot Spicy. Of all of the flavors, the Crispy was my favorite and the Hot Spicy my least favorite. I personally cannot stand how Koreans have been adding cinnamon (or whatever other spice that tastes like cinnamon) to their cuisine. I'm a fan of cinnamon but it just doesn't just mix with Korean food for me and the Hot Spicy was overwhelmingly cinnamon-y for me. Other than that, the Hot Spicy lives up to their name because it is definitely spicy....like a lot. The chicken itself was juicy. The packaged pickled radish is a nice contrast to the fried foods. It is overwhelming sweet but that's what it's supposed to be. What I didn't like about it was that it wasn't as crunchy/crispy as it should have been. They also did not offer any free sauces to go along with my very expensive order. I wanted to try a variety of their flavors and they have the Banban (which means Half/Half) options on their menus but you couldn't mix and match beyond what was on their Banban menu. Half is with sauce on the chicken and half without. I wanted to try their Original and Crispy with the Banban order but they would not allow it. I HAD to get one half with sauce. Also, the sauce HAD to be on the chicken, not on the side. If I asked for it on the side, they would charge me extra. Not really customer oriented.

If you want the most hot, fresh, CRUNCHY chicken this is your place!!! The chicken is to absolutely die for and will officially be my gold standard of how fried chicken should taste!

Google
Pelicana has the best crunchy fried chicken I’ve ever had—crispy, juicy, and somehow still saucy. I have no idea how they do it, but it’s absolute perfection. I come back every time I’m in town! The portions are what I’d call natural, high-quality chicken, not the oversized pieces some expect. And the owner? Always there, welcoming everyone like family. If you love crispy, flavorful, home-cooked-style fried chicken, this is the place. 10/10.

We visited here today. All the staff were really kind. The food was delicious as always. High recommending authentic Korean chicken place!

Love coming here and getting the lunch special which comes with 4 wings of your choice or crispy boned in or no bone, coleslaw and fries! Beer is on happy hour until 5pm

Google
I really wanted to try this place after hearing it was the “best chicken from Korea”. It wasn’t specifically on the menu, but I was able to try both the crispy chicken and the chicken with the signature sauce, I ordered the 18 piece and it was $1 extra to split it half-half. Now, the chicken is pretty good, but in my opinion it might not be the absolute best KFC. There’s some serious contenders out there, and I personally enjoy those more. More about the chicken though. The signature sauce is some sort of soy-garlic sauce with a hint of cinnamon, which was pretty good: but I liked the sauce-less one better.

Yelp
The juiciest chicken in town still dreaming about my chicken order. I have tried the cheese flavor, signature, garlic, and honey soy. All delicious flavors but my ranking would be: 1. Garlic 2. Honey soy 3. Signature 4. Cheese 10/10 for juicy flavorful chicken, quick takeout order (was ready in 15 min) , and amazing & friendly customer service. Whether you have takeout or eat in the restaurant, the chicken is always fresh. 100% coming back for more.

Yelp
This is my update. I just went yesterday with a friend because we were wanting Korean fried chicken and this place has always been good. I remember when it first opened, it was a great spot to go to! Now, almost a year later, this place has really changed. Firstly, there is no service. It is now a self service restaurant. However, I will say the employees are still kind and respectful. Not their fault (I don't think). You sit yourself, get a menu from the worker and then have to go up to the counter to order. This was really shocking for me as I didn't realize this change was implemented. Mainly because it was completely empty. I understand if it was super busy and crowded so ordering at the counter would be easiest - but we were the only ones there. If the menus are brought to you, why would I go up and order? Nonetheless, I still ordered at the counter and paid. I asked for water. In the past, they brought you a pitcher of water or the 16 oz plastic cups with ice. The young lady then let me know water cups are available behind me and I could grab some there. The water from the dispenser was dirty and warm. I had to serve it twice (got ice from the dispenser) and it was fine after that but it did gross me out a bit because it was also super hot in there. Typically it's pretty cool or room temp but it was about over 85 in there. Now the food. It's still good but something in their chicken had changed. We ordered the soy and the signature (half and half), fries, a bowl of rice and the radish side dishes. Everything was good but I remember the chicken being more juicy. I know many company's have changed their ingredients due to the inflation. I will not say it's low quality because it is not greasy and super dry. Just different from what I remember but still good. Overall, I would order the chicken from here as a to go and not sit down environment - which I believe is what they may be attempting to implement. I was just a bit disappointed with the change because their service and atmosphere was a part of the experience.

Yelp
Some of the best boneless wings I've had. The honey soy glaze was very light in a good way, not super thick. Chicken was crispy and juicy.

Yelp
I've been to the location of Pelicana in Buena Park and really enjoyed that so I was excited to come to this location! My husband and I ordered the boneless half chicken in the signature flavor. The chicken itself is perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside; in all honesty, I don't know if I had a fried chicken place get this ratio as great as Pelicana does. The flavors of the signature sauce are really good as well. My only complaint is that I wish that they had a flavor that had some spice but was not as spicy as their spicy flavors; I've had the spicy flavors before and that was too spicy for my enjoyment, however, I wish that signature flavor had some kick to it. Overall, it is still super enjoyable and this location is consistent with the Buena Park location. I came here on a Friday for dinner and there was no wait which I really appreciated. There was plenty of seating and we were told we can sit at any available table. The ambiance is pretty casual and would cater well to K-pop fans because they were playing K-pop music videos on their TVs. The server here was polite, but a bit slow. The store is located in a plaza with a decent amount of parking.

Yelp
The service here was great. We arrived and got seated right away. Our server was very attentive with everything and gave us recommendations. We got the soy wings and gyatt damn they were fire. The restaurant had a nice vibe too!

Yelp
I wasn't really planning on writing a review of this because I didn't think ordering a side of Peli cheese balls would have been enough for a shop that specializes in Korean Fried Chicken. But if the service and cheese balls are any indication of how good their chicken really is, I'm definitely down to try! As soon as I came in, an employee greeted me and offered to help even though he was bussing the tables. Since it was mostly empty inside, he stopped what he was doing and took my order. I had a Fivestars reward for cheese balls, which I've always wanted to try because one of my Yelp friends raved about them, and I've been trying to avoid fried chicken until I can get my health numbers back in the right direction. I don't know if that employee was new to Fivestars, but he needed help from a female co-worker, perhaps the manager on duty at the time. She was quite pleasant too in ringing me up, and they both made the overall atmosphere pretty welcoming that if I had ordered a full chicken dinner, I would have loved to dine inside. Since I had a jam-packed day that day, I took the cheese balls to go. I was also offered a cup of water even though I never asked for one. Now that's service! The wait was between 5 and 10 minutes for the cheese balls, which was a little longer than I expected, so I definitely appreciated the complimentary cup of water. I also immersed myself in the scenery, which looked to be Korean-themed with KPOP music playing inside. The cheese balls weren't as good as what my Yelp friend(s) made it out to be, but that's because I was expecting something a little different. I was expecting something like liquid gold oozing out of each ball with every bite I took, but what I actually got was a mochi-like texture inside. It was still good, but at $9 for just five is a bit pricey. I would have given 4 stars just because of that price point, but with how great service was, I decided to bump my rating up to 5 stars. Next time I'm craving a cheat meal, I'm definitely going to consider this chicken shop at City Plaza on the southwest corner of South and Pioneer. Hopefully Fivestars will give me a nice deal sooner rather than later!

Yelp
This was my first time at this Pelicana location and we really enjoyed it! I've also been to the Buena Park location, which we also enjoyed so I'm happy this place is consistently good (so far). We came with a group of 13 on a Tuesday night and we were able to put tables together so we could all sit together. It was mostly one employee working the dining area and she was so nice and helpful despite our big group coming in not long after another big group. The Korean fried chicken is big, juicy, and crispy. We tried the hot chili, signature, soy, and garlic flavors. We did 18 original and 18 crispy. I do think I would want some dry chicken next time, but I don't think any of the flavors were a dry rub so it would just be plain chicken. I still enjoyed my food though! We also ordered fries and sweet potato fries. I would say pass on the sweet potato fries, they were a little soggy but the regular fries were good. They also have all day happy hour for drinks! Overall, great value in price, tasty food, and good service! I plan on coming back and would recommend pelicana if you're craving Korean fried chicken.

Yelp
Hands down, one of my husband and I's favorite korean fried chicken place. Parking is a bit competitive since it shares the same plaza as Gerry's Grill and BCD Tofu. We usually park far and walk. Service is so friendly and not too long considering Korean Fried Chicken usually takes a long time. Seating is usually never an issue and they are always open to questions and recommendations. The vibes are chill and almost like sports bar but quieter. They had football on the two tvs. The food options with two fire flames or more is definitely spicy. Wouldnt recommend for those who cant handle spice. The cheesy balls are sweet but real good! I upgraded my combo with it.

Yelp
When we walked in around 4 pm, the place was empty but spotless, with the server ready to take our order. She promptly brought out drinks and the salad. Perhaps she was the owner or manager? There are two clean restrooms in the back: one for men and one for women. My only complaint was that the staff didn't check in on us--we had to walk up to them to order more, request multiple water refills, or settle the bill. Service improved when a gentleman clocked in and asked how things were. The chicken was delicious and meatier than the Buena Park location. We ordered French fries, peli cheese balls, corn cheese, crispy fried chicken with honey soy, and crispy banban wings with hot chili. The fries were thin and tasty, served with ranch and ketchup on the side. The cheese balls, five in total, had a thin outer crust with a generous amount of sweet cheese inside. While I wasn't a fan of the sweet cheese in the cheese balls, the corn cheese was better with its non-sweet cheese and sweet corn. All three chicken flavors were fantastic. The hot chili wasn't too spicy but left a pleasant tingle on the lips. They were also generous with the sauces on the chicken.

Yelp
Another successful culinary experience within 3 miles of my house. First thing to note is there are not a lot of tables, so you may need to wait. Also, if you have a back issue like me, bring your seat cushion for the hard chairs. I bring mine everywhere, and always make not if a place has comfortable seating. Now on to the food! This Korean fried chicken place was yummy. We ordered BanBan special- half fried and half sauced whole chicken. For the non-sauced, we ordered the Crispy which is double-fried to add an extra layer of deliciousness. For the sauce, we ended up going with the Signature sauce so we could experience the chicken the original way. The crispy chicken was delightful. Super crispy and crunchy on the outside moist delicious and steaming hot on the inside. Very flavorful. Signature sauce was absolutely delicious, lightly sweet, a tiny bit of spice, and not overwhelming. Sometimes I get saucy chicken and I'm overwhelmed by the amount of gravy or sauce in it. This was not the case it was perfect. We also ordered the cheeseballs because, well, I mean...cheeseballs! Of course I had to order them. I was quite surprised by how good they are. Have you ever had the Korean or Vietnamese sesame balls? It's like a yummy delicious dessert of fried sesame balls with the sesame seeds all over the top and steamy taro or red bean paste in the middle? Well, this was not them. This was a very lightly seasoned ball of goodness, a tiny bit of sesame on the outside, a thin, crusty crunchy bite and the most delicious mozzarella cheese you've ever had in the middle. I don't know what they spiced it with, but the flavor was amazing. Stretchy cheese with a nice crunch that doesn't get all over the place. So damn good. Definitely a return visit is required.

Yelp
Wanted some wings before the game, so we ordered 18 crispy wings with "smoky hot" sauce. The sauce is spicy, smokey, tangy and is perfect over the crispy wing. It's one of my favorite wing sauces. They have several korean staples such as buldak, tteukbokki, and corn cheese as sides. Tteukbokki is rice cake with some spice and heat - the chewiness and heat make this a great, comforting beer food. We wanted more finger food for this meal, so we got their "shaken fries", but this was not a hit for us. It was slightly sweet, but also excessively coated with their cheese powder. We were wishing we had regular fries instead. We got corn cheese, which is simply mozzarella over corn. There was a lot of moisture under the corn - as if they didn't drain the can of corn before they dropped the cheese on top. We did like their "cheese balls" as these were mochi-like donuts that had a cheese filling. It had a nice chew that was sweet, but the cheese gave it a nice savory twist. We took our order to go, so that we could watch the Dodger game at home; however, if you eat in house, we do like to order a pitcher of beer. Beer compliments korean wings perfectly. For our meal, the sides were 2/5, the wings were 4/5. We do come here for the wings, which does make us generally happy. For our experience today, it was basically a 3/5. Eating it in house does make a difference and having beer can further elevate the experience. Enjoy these korean wings in this location in Artesia or their busier location at the Source!

Yelp
Chicken is soo juicy! I can taste that it is indeed fresh. Chicken yes! They also give you free sides of vegatables which is a nice touch. Staff is also very friendly, service is fast.

Yelp
My friends have been hyping this place up and it did not disappoint. I thought the fried chicken here was really good. I opted for the boneless with the signature sauce. The first thing I noticed was that the chicken was really tender. I also really liked the signature sauce, it was something different from the typical soy garlic, spicy, etc. The combo was a pretty good deal. You get nine pieces of chicken, fries, salad and a soda for $20. I even had some leftovers. I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Food 3.5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 3.5/5 The fried chicken here is good, but I definitely prefer bbq chicken over due to the sides. All of the sides are extremely sweet, which is not something I prefer. I got the shaken fries, which were pretty cheesy but sweetened. The cheese balls were also good, but it would have been better if it didn't have sugar in it. The salad given was also sweet. The service was great here. The waiters were very attentive and would always ask if we needed anything. The ambiance is a dark casual place you can watch sports on the tv with your friends late night!

Ashwin N.

Yelp
The food here was pretty great overall. I only came in for the wings but I definitely want to explore more of the menu in the future. I came in at an odd time, so I had no trouble finding a seat, though the parking was a bit rough. The quality of the wings were solid. I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had but if I ever crave wings, this place would definitely hit the spot. The service here was great and the place has a very nice vibe inside. I would definitely recommend coming here with a group of friends

Yelp
Friendly service and the chicken was tasty. Would come back. I also like how you can add fries and a drink for only $3 more

Yelp
On a Saturday afternoon in July, my sister and I went to Pelicana Chicken for a snack after having lunch. The owner as nice and told us to seat anywhere. Soon as we arrived, The ac was turned on and looking at the menu. We decided on crispy half chicken with sauce on the side and twisted donuts. I was already full but I still had room for fried chicken. The twisted donuts taste like fried mochi donuts of soft and chewy with sugar. It taste really good not greasy at all. Next the fried chicken pieces arrived and it was crunchy and not greasy. It was hard to look for breast since it was cut in smaller pieces. The pickle radish taste good along with free cabbage salad. The ambiance was nice of watching kbs in the background. The restaurant is very clean and the owners are nice and friendly. They offer happy hour specials during week days. Plenty of parking spots.
google avatar

Yelp
Pelicana is located in a super busy plaza with tons of other food/dessert and shopping. We got there around ~6pm on a Saturday, and were lucky to find parking - the restaurant itself wasn't too busy. This location is a self-serve type, where you order at the counter, get your own drinks, and choose a seat. We ordered the original with the signature sauce (18 pcs). It came with a little salad and some pickled radish (personal fave). KFC was delicious, as always, but I will say that the 18 pcs was not enough for the two of us - next time I would order more! Nice spot for a more intimate hangout :)

Yelp
I visited on Friday night 7pm and was greeted upon arrival. I had to get up to ask to order 10 minutes after given a menu. There were three tables at the time, but all of them have ordered/food. It was not busy at this time. Water and food came out 20 minutes after I sat down; the chicken was coated in sauce but the chicken itself was flavorless. The corn cheese was room temperature/slightly cold when I received it. This location usually never disappoints me but Friday night said otherwise. I also noticed that another guest was offered water and ordering service immediately after seating, even though it was for a party of 4 and she was the first guest to arrive. Not entirely sure why it took 20 minutes to get a glass of water when I could see the two male servers chatting. I won't be giving this store another chance as a returning guest. Ambiance 5/5 Service 1.5/5 Food 0/5

John E.

Yelp
This review is for Pelicana Chicken in Artesia, first of all it's very hard to find a parking. The chicken is no flavor and small for the price they asking. Service is not to bad, and the ambiance feels no excitement or life. I don't recommend this place. Go try (bb.q Chocken in Cerritos) much better.
google avatar

Lauren D.

Yelp
Perfect every time! The chicken is always consistently delicious and the workers are very nice. The restaurant has a lot of seating and is quite clean. The menu has a good variety of flavors and chicken to choose from so you're bound to find something that you like. They also play KPOP music videos which is a giant plus. The price is slightly higher than the average chicken place, in my opinion. However, you're definitely paying for the quality and taste. We always stop by when we're in the area and so should you!

Yelp
Located amongst the many resteraunts in the area, we were happy we spotted it while dining nearby. We visited around 2pm and it was super mellow. We were greeted and immediately brought water once seated. We ordered the crispy half dry chicken wings with signature sauce on the side and half Wet Garlic Wings, with a side of Sweet Potato Fries. Included with the chicken wings, you'll get Pickled Radish and Cabbage Slaw. The crispy chicken wings were so delicious. Happy that we ordered the double battered wings, they were perfectly fried and hot from being cooked to order. I loved the wings without sauce and paying an extra $2 for Signature Sauce (sweet w/slight heat) on the side was not needed. The pickled radishes were so delicious and you can ask for more! The cabbage slaw was an awesome addition as well. The dressing was used to dip my sweet potato fries and chicken in. The garlic chicken wings were good, just a bit too much sauce for me. The wings tossed in a garlic sauce, remained crispy and were heavy in garlic flavor. If you like garlic, you'll love this flavor. The sweet potato fries were served almost immediately and they were crispy and delicious! A side of ranch and ketchup came with the fries. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and service!

Yelp
I was contacted by the manager after leaving a review. She apologized with the issue and offered me a free meal for this issue. This time, chickens were cooked well and she was being responsible for her actions.

Bravo C.

Yelp
We just made the order over the phone and just relied on yelp reviews with their chicken wings. The lady who took my order was pleasant. We got the garlic flavor chicken wings bone in and unfortunately we are not coming back. We don't like the taste at all. The bb.q Chicken is way BETTER!!!
google avatar

Hannah Attika S.

Yelp
Was so excited to try out this chicken place, however we were left disappointed & SO grossed out!!! We ordered their crispy fried wings. At first, the chicken looked really good cause they were so generous with the sauce. But upon taking a closer look, the CHICKEN WINGS STILL HAD HAIR on them.. it wasn't just 1-2pcs of hair too, it was A LOT which was hard to ignore. Flavour of their cheese powder and garlic sauce aren't bad but the meat itself didn't really have any flavour. You would think they'd clean their chicken thoroughly since their food ain't cheap. 1 star for the fries and onion rings cause that's the only thing that saved our meal. Never coming back here.
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
I've given this location a couple of tries, but everytime I get their chicken I am disappointed & I normally go to a different location. The chicken here seems to be frequently overfried so its not as juicy and meaty as their other locations. I ordered takeout on New Years Day and the chicken was so SKINNY. There was absolutely no meat to the point where I was biting into BONES. Their spicy rice cakes are fire though

Yelp
Gettin sticky icky eatin chicky. Korean fried chicken is the best fried chicken! Fight me! Pelicana Chicken opened up, awhile ago, and I've been twice. Once for their Chibob Lunch Special, and recently for their 1/2 Chicken w/ Signature Sauce. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=RWwgLjjCuTZr9gCd2HOnCQ&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA $1 Bud Light promo w/ purchase of any meal https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Dc_mhe94LgO84dtnCtpGEw&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Chibob- https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=gUJealHqFwH-P_YGRxkxHQ&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Popcorn chicken w/ rice, salad, daikon & a dollop of sour cream. A good, filling meal, the popcorn chicken was moist & tender. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select_video=KjVZZ_JfRoJk1bLi9LUTNQ&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA 1/2 Chicken w/ Signature Sauce w/ popcorn & salad- https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=SLDa9HYq81e5NNf-V4EN0Q&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Doused in a sticky sauce that's perfectly salty/sweet, Pelicana's 1/2 chicken was good stuff! Korean fried chicken is the best fried chicken. Pelicana doesn't stray from that statement. Each piece juicy, breaded expertly, and bathed in that tremendous Signature Sauce. Delightful! Service was good. The wait, while not short, wasn't inconveniently long for freshly cooked fried chicken. A good amount of seating, there can be difficulty grabbing a table during prime hours. Parking is at Artesia City Plaza, w/ Pelicana in between BCD Tofu House & Gerry's Grill. Pelicana delivers the goods. The fried chicken goods. Full of flavor & deliciousness, it's a great place when diet isn't a concern & cold beer sounds like a great idea. Pelicana has become a new favorite spot, and am eagerly looking forward to visiting again.

Yelp
Highly recommend artesia/cerritos location. The chicken literally came out golden brown. It was so perfectly crispy. The guy working was really hustling too. Super attentive and checked in with us even though he was working on his own. They had a lot of carry out orders for a weekday . Inside was nice and clean too.

Ayden L.

Yelp
I loved the taste of the garlic wings and soy chicken that they had. The flavors were bold without being overpowering, and the meat was cooked perfectly. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The garlic wings had just the right amount of kick, while the soy chicken offered a savory, slightly sweet balance that was great. Definitely a spot I'll continue to visit.

Yelp
12/23/22 Almost forgot to leave a review! It seems a bit unfair by it's mainly just for their Peli cheese balls. What caught my attention was from fellow Yelp Elite's photo, Eunhae--the Peli cheese balls (coz I love cheese as much as I hate to admit it coz I'm somewhat lactose intolerant, not quite a100% thankfully) So I to tried order from the website at about 9 pm (they close at 11 pm) & it states it no longer takes order at this time, what?!!! This early? So I call & the friendly employee apologizes & says it doesn't take any more orders at this time because their delivery option doesn't do it that late. But mine was for a pick up, no matter I just called in the order anyway for the Peli cheeseballs, ready in 7 minutes. My order was promptly ready when we rolled up. I thought they were closing because there was only one set of customers in their small shop & it was dimly lit-for what mood lighting? I thought that was sort of inappropriate to have dim lights at this kind of establishment. The Peli cheese balls were pretty hot, crispy outer layer & a chewy (like rice cake chewy, bouncy) inside with the most delightful cheesy goodness at the center. It was sort of mildly sweet & savory because of the cheese. At first it was an odd but nice chewiness but it was very tasty. If you love cheese & anything chewy-these are a tasty snack:)) I'd have to come back for their chicken soon!

Yelp
Pelicana Chicken offers Korean Fried Chicken along with a variety of side dishes. The small and intimate setting, coupled with the very friendly staff who readily offer suggestions, makes it a must-try for any KFC lover. #PelicanaChicken #KoreanFriedChicken #FoodieFinds #KFClover

Yelp
Pretty good food! I tried the Original Fried Chicken No Sauce, Hot Spicy, and Signature. I also tried the Peli Shaken Fries and the Sweet Potato Fries. The wings were pretty good! I give a lot of points to Pelicana Chicken because the food wasn't too sweet. I usually find other Korean fried chicken places to be too sweet. The original fried chicken was pretty good fried chicken! Great flavor, moist on the inside, and nice and crunchy. The Hot Spicy was pretty spicy!! It made my uncle sweat (haha) but I thought the heat level was perfect! It was spicy, salty, a little sweet, and overall well balanced. The Signature was the sweetest of the wings, but again a solid flavor that wasn't TOO sweet. I REALLY enjoyed the Peli Shaken Fries! The seasoning kind of reminded me of Potato Corner. I would totally order the Peli Shaken Fries again! The sweet potato fries were undercooked so not exactly a hit for us. Overall if I wanted Korean Fried Chicken, I'd totally order from here again!

Yelp
Not bad overall for your local Korean fried chicken! We had the original chicken and the garlic chicken (crispy)! Very juicy and good chicken quality. The sauces on the chicken had great flavor as well. The original () was a near medium spice. Definitely not for the feint of heart. The free sides were not impressive and the shaken fries were OK too.

Yelp
False advertisement!!! The website says "all orders over $40" (dine in and to go orders) gets free cheese balls. I ordered mine via online- spent about $60. When I went to go pick up my order, when asked about free cheese balls, the guy at the counter said I don't get it because I did not call in . Then pelicana chicken needs to update their website saying "call in to go's only" .. I am not sure if I'll go back again - customer service sucks !

Yelp
Mediocre chicken. Solid service. Ambiance is a typical Korean restaurant. Overrated fried chicken.

Yelp
I cant complain on postmates like I want to, so I'll do it here. I paid $2 extra each for ranch and specialty sauce. They came in 4oz containers but they were only half way filled! What in the heck is that! Not cool! It may look like i poured some out but I didnt, the container was just on its side.

Yelp
tl;dr: chicken is dry to the point of being inedible. this is hands down my favorite korean chicken franchise. i've only tried the madang mall location in ktown before but since im closer to artesia, thought i would give this location a chance and bc i had an intense craving for it. online ordering was easy but a little clunky - it asks for your address? we ordered about 30 mins before and my husband headed there to pick it up. the order was already ready - which was great. we ordered one order of banban chicken (bone-in whole chicken and you get to choose one sauce and the other half will be just plain fried). we also got a half order of boneless with garlic sauce. i decided to try the smoky hot since i get signature all the time - signature is barely spicy at all so i wanted to opt for something slightly spicier. the flavor was fine. i think i'll still get the signature next time. it's a little too fusion-y for me. garlic sauce was bit too sweet and not that interesting. what was really problematic was that all of the chicken was SO DRY. it was hard to chew, dry. they threw in some scrappy little pieces in the banban besides the bone in guys, and those were even drier - inedible!!!! pieces. there was also no extra sauce at the bottom - there's usually some sauce on the bottom so it's a little more moist too. can't believe we paid 54 dollars (with tax) for completely dried/overfried chicken.

Yelp
Let me say this. If you have not tried Korean food or KFC, you're missing out. From the options, to the service, this is one of my top places to go. My go to is the White Garlic Chicken Sandwich, and it's to die for. The owner is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet, and they cook everything to perfection. I have never not been satisfied here. Hands down one of my top spots for Korean fried chicken. To the owner, thank you for always putting a smile on my face! - The Sandwich Guy

Yelp
I first tried Pelicana in NYC. It was just as delicious here. I love the boneless chicken and the fries. I'm a saucy girl, so all the sauce options they had were amazing. My friend and I shared a half order of boneless chicken and my tummy was satisfied. I recommend some honey mustard for you to dip your chicken in. Only difference is in NYC, you can choose multiple sauces on the side, here in Artesia, there are only certain sauces that you can choose on the side. I'd come back. Yummy.

Yelp
We were looking for a Korean fried chicken and we found this place. Freshly cooked, chicken is crunchy and tastes good. Place is underrated. Good place to drink and eat with friends.

Yelp
I came here for dinner several days ago with some friends and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the fried chicken was! This location is a relatively new location for this chain which just recently opened up a few months ago. We came in during the grand opening event so there were some deals available depending on how much we ordered and if we left reviews/check-ins through social media. After looking through the menu for a few minutes, we decided to get their half original chicken covered in the hot chili sauce and a side of their shaken fries. They do serve complimentary popcorn and salad which I think is a plus along with daikon radish to cleanse the palette. The fries came out piping hot and they were seasoned/dusted with herbs and a slightly sweet cheese seasoning. They were delicious and it was a decently sized portion to share! The fries were crispy and hot and they even give you a side of ranch to dip in as well. The fried chicken came out about 5 minutes after we got the fries and it was HOT. Both in temperature and in spiciness! We got 9 pieces covered in their hot chili sauce and the batter was crispy on the outside while the chicken inside was very moist and not dry. If you enjoy spicy and heat, then I can recommend this flavor option. Service here was good with the staff checking up on us if we needed water or anything else and the inside was nice and clean. Parking is pretty easy to find right outside as well!

Yelp
This place is located in a busy plaza, so parking is not the greatest. It's a little smaller on the inside, so I wouldn't say it's too convenient for larger parties but it's an easy food to take to-go. As far as service, the service was honestly a little slow and we went on a not-so busy weekday night and had to constantly try to grab the server's attention. We got: - Whole fried chicken (4/5): chicken was crispy and juicy - Soy sauce (4/5): my favorite, had a sweetness to it - Garlic sauce (3/5): garlic wasn't too strong and I love garlic Overall, would probably visit if I'm in the area and have no other choice for fried chicken but just decent.

Yelp
I love Korean fried chicken so I was super excited to try this place. It's located in a busy plaza but it was empty when we got there for lunch on a Sunday. We got ddukboki, original wings, and garlic wings. I loved that the ddukboki comes with mini rice cakes so that the rice cake/sauce ratio is perfect. The complimentary salad was alright. In terms of the chicken, i loved the original wings - asked for ranch and their spicy sauce to dip. Both sauces were delicious! The garlic wings were good too but I'm just not a huge fan of flavored wings. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Had their lunch special and enjoyed it the first two times, but after that the food quality went sown. The chicken tasted funky and the friedrice tasted like like rice wasn't washed properly as it also had a weird aftertaste. Such a bummer as I was very hopeful the first two times we grabbed lunch boxes from here.

Yelp
Well seasoned fresh and crispy wings! We were craving some fried chicken so we decided to try out the new Pelicana in town. We ordered 9 of the crispy wings without sauce, and 9 of the crispy with Signature sauce. The lady on the phone was super nice and helpful when I placed my order and she helped describe flavors of the sauces for me, and even included a little cup of a sauce I wanted to try for next time! The signature is sweet, lightly garlicky and salty sauce. But for me the star was the regular crispy wings. Super juicy and crisp with a savory marinade in the wings themselves. Honestly don't even need sauce to be delicious! I think next time I'd like to try the garlic one or even the hot chili. The inside is spacious and clean, the order was made on time and you can tell they freshly fry everything! Parking; this plaza gets pretty crowded at peak hours, but on a Friday at 2pm it was easy to find parking. Tip: It's cheaper to order by phone and pick it up than ordering online via Yelp (since they charge restaurants an extra fee).

Yelp
I think Korean chicken is in a league of its own, let's just make that clear right now. I could not wait to sit down and try this chicken, I mean it smelled so good in the car. The crunch on this chicken was perfect and the meat was juicy but the taste was phenomenal!!! I tried Ddukbokki which I think was rice cakes, veggies and fish cake was tasty too. I also ordered sweet potato fries yummy. I'm definitely coming back. The place is clean and inviting, parking is scarce, because they share with other restaurants like BCD, Gerrys Grill and others. Excellent chicken though, super tasty!
