The Best Portland Sports Bars for Watching Trail Blazers Games | Eater Portland

"Some self-proclaimed sports bars are effectively neighborhood pubs with a few TVs and a pool table. Not so at Penalties, which has sports in its DNA. A block off Main Street in downtown Vancouver, the spacious Penalties boasts two large 177-inch projector screens and eight other large screens, along with a pool table and a Buck Hunter machine for those nights when the game turns into a blowout. The pizza is better than average for a sports bar, and the friendly bartenders juggle drink orders on busy evenings as efficiently as they do game requests for the different screens." - Rebecca Roland

Great bar.... Excellent service and very friendly staff.... Food was excellent and we happened to be there for happy hour 😁 Ordered the sweet & sour meatballs 😋, Garlic knots & 🍟 It was delicious, enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and would definitely recommend a visit here... Coffee was good too, not a drinker but for a bar to have such great coffee ☕... Win Win

Oh My Gosh, I love this bar. Crews are so kind, friendly and welcoming. My husband and I are huge Ducks fan. We watched a football game, so many Ducks fans are watching it together and having fun. We ordered Nachos and Garlic Parmesan wings. Delicious and tasty.

Was specifically looking for St. Patrick's food since I didn't get a chance to eat Corned beef on the holiday, lo and behold! These guys had it, place was packed and I see why. Corned Beef Sliders & Tacos were SO GOOD!, (keep in mind it's probably seasonal and they'll probably have it again next year)

Pulled Pork sandwich $15: Bun bland .. you tell me where the pulled pork is.. out of fries.. ever heard of a place that is out of fries?? Young Blonde Bartender uncool, wearing a Taco’s & Tequila cap. The other blonde more brunette one nicer. Only plus: WNBA & NBA games on side by side

Staff super friendly, and the gluten free pizza is one of the best I've EVER had.

Used to love going to this place BUT ITS 100 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND THEY DONT HAVE AC! I feel so bad for the workers there it should be a violation.

Yelp
The venue its self is meh the acoustics for the music is not so great it's just loud. The drinks are good and the beer is alright. We where here for my friends ugly sweater birthday. It's sad it's one of those businesses like most the PNW night life is still Clinging to the old Covid rules. They called last call at 12:30 am in a packed bar on a Friday evening. The bathroom situation is crazy for the fact that people continued to barge in on other people it was a drunkin shit show so I kinda understand the last call. Only thing is most people on weekends don't even come out till 10 or 11 can't be closing at 1 and last calling at 12:30. So everyone for the longest just stood out side speaking of outside the DJ took 45 smoke breaks kept leaving his booth he most def went through 2 packs. The saving grace in this place are the bartenders they were freaking awesome even when slammed.

Yelp
This is your typical downtown sports bar they have a tv for every game and the vibe is cool. They do have some good appetizers. You can secure a private section if call ahead if time. Great place.

Yelp
Food was ok, waitress was cute and friendly, service was good, I and a friend dropped in here for lunch on a Friday. too much ice that day on the street. It seems like the ice storm with it's freezing rain is never going to end? My Car was vandalized that we left sitting across the street? I have decided I simply have a very low opinion of this neighborhood? *** stars.

Yelp
The drinks are always amazing. I always come here when my husband gets his haircut at Tonsor. I really love the lemon drops.

Yelp
Joey the owner and his wife are so kind. I've been here three times for business meetings and events and the staff has always be outstanding. The owner Joey personally made my drink and it was delicious!

Yelp
Good place for sports enthusiasts... UFC enthusiasts... DJ music on Friday and Saturday, with a dance area... I've had 2 different hot pizzas here.. $17 each.. I've had better pizza elsewhere but they were nearly $30 each... Unfortunately: you gotta SAVE your debit and credit card RECEIPTS then compare the receipts to your bank account.. TWICE they OVERCHARGED me... It got corrected but how many other customers got "accidentally" overcharged...??

Yelp
The best wings in Vancouver. Perfectly cooked and the sauce was not too hot. Joey, the owner is a total gentleman. We knew him from Top Shelf. I will support him at Penalties because he is a one of a kind human. Give this place a try I am not a sports bar fan but have been in several times and will continue. The lemon drop was delicious

Yelp
Delicious pizza! Fun sports bar environment. Josh, our bartender, was very friendly and gave excellent customer service. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Love that they have a hard seltzer on tap, and the food is absolutely and surprisingly great! Seriously, I think that the pizza here is among my top 3 go tos!! The selections are just right, I hate when the menus are tap huge, or too limited.

Yelp
I really think the staff is great and really enjoy watching games here. Pizza!? Bomb :)

Yelp
Don't expect much in terms of food quality. Very disappointing. Poppers were soggy. Worst wings ever.

Yelp
Derrick was so sweet. Loved chatting with him at the door. He had a good balance of working the door and talking with the guest.

Yelp
Nice place. My buddy comes here a lot so I gave it a try. Fun and friendly bartenders. Pizza was great I don't understand the negative reviews about that. Strong drinks. Bartenders are very nice people. Heard it gets crowded weekends.

Yelp
Worst service from Josh the bartender/server. somehow got two pizzas but only ordered one. And tasted like frozen pizza with toppings added. Had to ask for our check as dude was on his cell phone the entire time we were there. Had to give a credit card to start a tab at a restaurant that we ordered food at. Won't be returning!!!

Yelp
I've came here twice now. I'm a type one diabetic. When I walked into the bar I showed my ID,my diabetic pouch and my emergency drink to him. He explained to me how they didn't accept outside drinks but he will let this one slide. 15 minutes later I was escorted outside while having a blood sugar of 73 (almost low blood sugar which is fatal.). He poured my sprite out with a smile on his face telling me it could have alcohol in it when he already checked it and made a joke out of it in front of 20-30 other people standing outside. The owner comes out telling me how it's a business interference and that I should know the rules of bars. THEN WHY DID EVERY OTHER BAR ACCEPT MY PROPOSAL. My disease is not a joke nor is it a business interference. I'm not going to pay for another drink. I already have one and it's been paid for. And I'm not going to sit there silent while he pours it out on the verge of low blood sugar. Would never come again and to any fellow diabetics trying to enjoy a drink with there buds go to shanahans or six shooter, They at least respect your disease.

Yelp
Great place to go! Great food, people, atmosphere, everything you expect at a sports pub! Love the employees and the owner! #GoFalcons

Yelp
Have gone in 4-5 times now and haven't been disappointed. Good drinks good food and plenty of sports on the many TVs
