Went there at 4:45pm on a Saturday, we were seated immediately with no wait. Laksa was on point, not too sour, not fishy at all and very flavorful. We ordered char kuey Tew with duck egg and oyster omelette. Both were good and service was quick. Must try!

Tried the Penang Laksa for the first time as it's close to my hotel. There's a line when come here in the afternoon, waiting about 15-20 minutes. Ordered the Penang Laksa and the seafood omelette. The laksa broth is a little bit sour and it's tasty, sour from the pineapple and tasty from the prawn paste. The seafood omelette is great compared to other places, it has more eggs rather the flour inside of it.

The Laksa noodles were on point! Not the fan of tomato sardines broth. Satay was ok - chicken a bit dry and beef was not chewy. Ayam pandam was not what I expected it to be and poh peah was good.

The star of the show, the asam laksa certainly stood up to its name as it was full of flavour and had that trademark sourness that should be found in a laksa. The char kuay teow however was just ok as it lacked the wok hei which is the nice charring caused by the wok creating a strong flavour and aroma. But hey, most of you come here to try the famous laksa anyways.

Saw some reviews and said the laksa was popular here in Penang, when we arrive before we were seated the staff ask what we wanted to order, I ask if we can see the menu first he told us there is no food menu and only point at the poster. So we just order one of each (not knowing the price😖) But Seeing the other reviews here they seems to have other dish? 🤔 Our favorite was Char Kuey teow, it’s very flavorful! Their laksa is abit different from other places🤔 it’s abit more to the sour side, even the noodles seems abit different. Their seafood amelette was tasty too, usually I don’t eat fishy stuff but it was ok for me. Overall their char kuey teow was one of the best we have tried in Penang during our 5 days trip.

Now this is a place worthy of having a Michelin Star for 2 years in a row! The Laksa was so superb that I had to reorder for the second portion, it's topped with several herbs & freshly cut red onions, poured with thick & fragrant broth with sardines as the base (but believe me that it's not fishy at all), i can have it for breakfast or for dinner and it's still will be one of my fav food in Penang. The Char Kwetiaw was also delicious (had to reorder for the 2nd portion too), you can really taste the "char" and the spices, i feel like they made it bold & more flavourful than other char kwetiaw in the area, with generous toppings too And they also offered several foods from the adjacent food stalls, i tried the prawn omellete & fried shitake mushrooms and they were also delicious!!

Not too crowded when we arrived around late morning. We were pretty quickly given menus. Ordered a bunch of the dishes to try. The Char kuay tiao pretty good, Curry mee was good as well. The Rojak was decent. I would say the rest wasn't really to my taste or preference. Another thing was we had difficulty getting extra bowls for sharing. I had to ask multiple times. The first few times, the servers just left and didn't come back. Overall okay food at an okay price but nothing too impressive.

Less crowd today when we visit at around 12.45pm (sat) as compare to yesterday. 虾煎 flavour was awesome personally didn't like the starch in the normal 耗煎 but this one is very flavourful and paired with chili was a bomb Char kway teow - have a very nice wok hei fragrance definitely one of the best I had in penang. Just a tad too spicy for me as I don't take spice well. Penang Laksa is good too, broth is tasty. But overall, prawn omelette/虾煎 was the best for palate. White coffee is very fragrant too

Yelp
I'm very surprised by the reviews on this place. But then again, it was years ago and only 2 reviews. I was traveling through Malaysia 2 weeks ago starting in KL, Melaka, Ipoh, and finally Georgetown. This Penang style laksa was a HIGHLIGHT of my food trip. Much preferred over Melakan style. The restaurant also earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand 2024. Not super packed but as we were wandering the area and passed by the place multiple times that day, there was a steady stream of folks going in and out. Noticed a local tour guide also stopping by this place as well. Got in right before they closed at 5:30PM and ordered a small bowl of laksa (7rm) and an iced chrysanthemum tea (2.50rm). Penang laksa is much more tangy/sour, spicy with a depth of umami flavor (from the fish/seafood) lacking in the other ones I've tried in other cities. They added a generous amount of shallots, cilantro, raw pineapple and had this rice based noodle that was delicious. Broth was slightly on the spicier side, flavors were heavy and towards the end, a bit fishy with all the slivers of meat. But such a great find! And amazing price point (less than 2 US dollars for a small bowl). Would come back again and again. Also one of the reasons I rated Penang, in my experience, as the best food district on my travel.

Yelp
Getting off the flight, this was our first stop for local laksa & char kway teow(CKT). Finding this place can be a bit confusing, it used to be part of the Joo hooi cafe, but now it has its own location at 5 Lebuh Keng kwee, at the end of the street where all the tourists Q up for the famous chenduls. Infront of the stalls there were 2 stations, 1 for CKT & 1 for mixing laksa & sweets. Chow Kway Teow was excellent! Even though they did not use old fashioned charcoal, the wok hei was still very intense & aromatic. Noodle texture was fresh, springy & light, color & flavors evenly distributed. Good flavors & adequate amount of seafood (i.e. 2 shrimps). As an arrogant cantonese eater I found no faults. Assam laksa was good. This was our first assam laksa experience so kept an open mind. We usually prefer the singapore versions with intense curry & coconut flavors. This laksa def had more of a seafood/fishy flavor but in a good way, with shrimps & small bits of fish found in the broth. Also the sourness was evident which is classic assam. The presentation of the bowl was a little messy & the condiments very ordinary, yet we ate & drained the entire bowl! It was comforting, refreshing & light compared to the classic Singapore versions. Red bean cendol was excellenr! I was borned with red bean addiction disorder & this cold bowl of goodness hit the spot. It was not too sweet & quite refreshing, i m not a shaved ice fan & was glad it contained just enough ice chunks to provide the chill factor without sinking the Titanic. Overall we were very impressed by this restaurant. Its sort of a hidden gem for tourists due to its new location. This can be a blessing in disguise since the wait was minimal for us. We saw enough locals eating & getting take-outs there so always a good

Yelp
This assam laksa woefully let me down. It had practically no fish within, and the gravy was meh. I did like the chewy noodles, but they're not uncommon and aren't special as other laksa stalls have them too. Would not revisit. Such a waste of time and calories.
