Penelopes Vegan Taqueria Pilsen

Have been looking to try this place for years. Finally made it, and was fairly satisfied with the food. I had the enchiladas, which were good, but seems like it took a few bites for the flavor to kick in. Even then, it felt like something was missing. I did enjoy them, though. My issue was not receiving any utensils on a to go order. Why would you not put any utensils in the bag? Once I got past that faux pas, I wasn’t happy with them putting the sauce that came in a small plastic sauce container, in my beans. Like, just sitting in my beans. So, the container is slopped with beans, and whatever contaminants that were on the container, are now in my beans. Having to request utensils on a to go order, and tell them NOT to put the sauce container IN my food will need to be expressed explicitly if I return, which I shouldn’t have to do imo.

Absolutely wowed by the food here! I started with the traditional taco al pastor—it was bursting with flavor. Then I had the pambazo, a torta-style sandwich filled with soy meat, and it was incredible. The taste was spot-on, capturing the authentic essence of traditional Mexican cuisine. They’ve truly honored the original flavors. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

We live Penelope’s Vegan Taqueria, today my wife and I visited this new location. The service was great, food was good, I had the Chilaquiles, they might have been on the dry side but still tasty. This is their smallest location, but still delivers a nice dinning experience.

The food was absolutely delicious! The chilaquiles torta was filling, and the fries appetizer came in a very generous portion. To my surprise, the matcha horchata was delicious the combination of the matcha and horchata pairs well together. The service was very friendly, and while the place is small, it's still great for groups of 3 or more. I would definitely recommend this spot. Their menu offers a wide variety of vegan items, all of which sounded so good that it was hard to choose what to try. I can’t wait to come back with family and friends!

Delicious food, arrived quickly and piping hot! I ate too quickly to get more photos but it was all fantastic. Definitely recommend!

We happened upon this place while driving and it is a Gem!!! I absolutely love Mexican food but never get to have the full menu. I got to have the full menu here! And it was delicious! The flavors were all banging. The music and atmosphere were on point. I'm from Minnesota but this will definitely be added to the list of spots we drive down for!

The taco plate was delicious. Well seasoned, sometimes vegan food tastes too healthy, ant this was perfect.

Excited to have this new spot in the neighborhood and to support a longtime community member from Pilsen. That said, the food was delicious! I got the pambazo and was happy with the size and the flavors. The salsa was also bomb. Not too spicy but with the right kick. We also ordered the taco dinner. The barbacoa taco made with jackfruit tricked my brain, the asada was on point and I couldn’t believe I wasn’t eating meat. The Baja was also a nice surprise with the avocado , beer batter and the habanero on top. Overall, a great experience. To drink we ordered the butterfly horchata and it didn’t disappoint. The service was excellent and so was the background music.
