Our last night on the peninsula and I’m so glad we tried this great spot. The space is well laid out, great decor and clean. Our server was adorable and dressed like the Chucky doll for Halloween. We tried a lot of food and nothing disappointed. We started with a cup of Chicken Pepperjack Soup. Good mild chicken flavor and creamy but not thick and gloopy. It was warming on a chilly evening. We next tried 6 garlic Parmesan wings. They were fantastic! Not too Smokey, I do not like overly Smokey. Crispy skin, meaty juicy wings and just enough garlic flavoring. We tried the artichoke dip because Chucky said she liked it. The pita wedges are fried so they puff up. The dip was delicious and they sprinkled cheese on the pita and melted it. It was great. The portion was huge! We are not Mac and Cheese people but they had me at truffle. It was a massive portion of cheesy truffle goodness. This could be a meal for two people. My hubby got the hanger steak and it was delicious! Tender, juicy and cooked to perfection. The arugula salad was spicy and good. The chimichuri was excellent ! I got the Make it Hot Chicken sandwich. It was really good! A large chicken breast coated and fried to perfection. Loved the hot honey drizzle and the jalapeños. Our server was lovely, friendly and offered her favorites on the menu. Loved that! Did not love that we sat with empty glasses in the table. We asked her to take them and she did but forgot one. We overlooked it because it was a small thing. She was just a sweetheart! Give this great local joint a try!

Took a convertible ride up Old Mission to see the fall colors. Stopped in Peninsula Grill and sat at the bar to catch a Big 10 college football game. Started with a couple Michigan craft beers along with the Hong Kong crispy shrimp with “Bang-Bang” sauce drizzle. I had the seared Ahi Tuna salad and my wife had the Crispy Walleye Tacos. The quality and flavor of their food is amazing! The atmosphere and vibe is clean, relaxed and cool! Highly recommend stopping in Peninsula Grill next time you’re in the peninsula. You’ll rave about their food too!

Google
This was a spur of the moment find after driving to enjoy the local scenery. Our server was fantastic. Service was fast. Food was delightful. I ordered shrimp and grits. The shrimp were grilled perfectly. Loved the consistency of the grits.

Google
A friend and I stopped in here for an early lunch a couple weekends ago. We both ordered the shrimp & grits and it was SO GOOD! Would definitely come back again to try out some other items next time we’re in the area.

Google
5 stars Everything about our visit to Peninsula Grill was perfect. The service was warm and welcoming, and the food was absolutely incredible. We ordered a burger, chicken salad, and walleye tacos—and every dish was spot-on. My grandma said her tacos were the best she’s ever had! You can really taste the quality and care in every bite. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
My brother and I stopped here for lunch during a recent motorcycle ride through the area. I got the walleye fish tacos (awesome) and my brother got a chicken salad that was also awesome. Great food and service at a fair price.

Google
Came from out of town and stopped on a whim, we had a group of 4 and sat on the patio, we ordered Rum Runners, they were on point refreshing and what we were looking for! We had the artichoke dip, which was PHENOMENAL, the chips were fresh and crispy, dip was smooth with artichoke chunks, so good! We also had a meatlovers pizza, I don't even want our pizza around home anymore it was so good, smoky fresh flavor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND stopping here!!!

Nick L.

Google
I got the walleye fish tacos they were great. A nice little vibe in there. Great service everyone was very nice. Definitely a great spot to stop for lunch or dinner on the way up to the lighthouse.

Yelp
Not to mention the menu was changed from what we found on the internet ...we ordered the ribs. Although we liked the sauce, the ribs were dry, tough and burnt on the ends. In addition the coleslaw was warm. The waitstaff was polite and the lavender martini was very good. I thought some items on the menu were overpriced. We were there on September 17, 2025.

Yelp
Best grilled cheese n bacon sandwich ever! The bacon was amazing , cooked perfect. Service was friendly, and accommodating. Lobster bisque was really good for a fall day. We've eaten here twice in two days - doing the fall colors tour Thank you!! Awesome stop!!

Yelp
My husband and I were on vacation, visiting the various wineries along the Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail, when we discovered The Peninsula Gill on Yelp. The setting is charming with a lovely patio area, and the staff was quite friendly. Not wanting a ton of food, we decided to share an order of the Chicken Pepper Jack soup, along the Mexican Corn Dip, and a Smash Burger. The soup stole the show! To be honest, I initially didn't think it sounded appetizing because I'm not a huge fan of pepper jack cheese, but much to my pleasant surprise, it was out of this world!! It was filled with huge tender pieces of chicken and pasta. Yum! The burger was excellent, too. The Mexican Corn dip was OK. It had a little too much cheese to our liking. I highly recommend you stop in the next time you're traveling along the wine trail.

Yelp
one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a while. my friends and I started with the artichoke dip and while the dip itself was decent, the chips were super stale. we mentioned it to the waiter but they did nothing about it. I then had the burger which was one of the blandest most dissappointing burgers I have ever had. there was no flavor/seasoning, even ketchup could not redeem it. I was certainly not expecting excellence at this restaurant, but this was way worse than I could have imagined.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place but will not come back. Not in this lifetime or the next. The smashburger was not a smashburger but a severly overcooked 4oz patty with no seasoning or flavor. To charge over $17 for a burger is atrocious, specially when the side it comes with is chips - not housemade chips, but bagged chips. Northern michigan has way more to offer than this place. Do yourself a favor - skip peninsula grill and go down the road to jolly pumpkin or in to traverse city for a more worthy experience.

Yelp
We always get the Artichoke Pita Dip appetizer (even though the price has gone WAY up over the years) but it is a big plateful. The drinks (served by the always friendly bartenders) are great!!! The dinner meals are delicious! Nice outdoor seating, but only for parties of 4 or more. Unless it's slow, then 2 can sit outside. Great market right next door to pick up anything you might need!

Yelp
Today was the second time I've been to this restaurant. They have a new chef and an updated menu. Unfortunately they took off the veggie burger from the menu and do not have one single vegetarian item on the menu. Our server felt badly and let me bring my sandwich over from the attached sandwich shop and eat it with my fries I ordered from her. Unless a vegetarian item is added back to the menu I won't return. I still have three starts because the other two in our group were satisfied with their food.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch while winery hopping. Nice outside seating area. The food we had was very good. The Cherry Chicken salad was very tasty. Our server was pleasant.

Yelp
I visited here a year later and I am again impressed. This time around I order a Build Your Own Pizza because the server said their pizzas are made with a birch fire wood oven!! Definitely my go-to food stop when visiting the local wineries.

Benedikt D.

Yelp
Hidden away in the mission point peninsula is this fantastic spot! My wife, fur baby, and I stopped by for lunch looking to escape the bustle of traverse city for a little. We had an amazing experience! Our server was so friendly, had great conversation, and accommodated our pup with sincere exceptionalism. Not only the food (and the fantastic battered fries), but also the service was comforting, welcoming, it was epic! We ordered the bbq pork house smash burger and walleye tacos which exceeded expectations by a mile! Give this place a try, bring your dog, bring a good vibe, you'll have a good time. There's more I could say to enunciate how great this spot is, but you should find out for yourself.

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming to the Peninsula Grill for several years. It is (or was) one of our favorites. The last several times, we noted that the servers were stretched thin so we took the slow service in stride. However, our most recent visit on 7/26 was very disappointing for the following reasons: Again the service was slow, but again we took it in stride because our server was attentive and courteous when she could work us in to the many tables she was serving. The music was loud enough to make conversation difficult, but the song selection fit our taste, so again took it in stride. We ordered the margarita pizza which in past has been our favorite dish. Unfortunately, this one arrived with a burned upper crust and a doughy bottom crust. We would have sent it back, but did not want to wait another 20-30 minutes for another one. And finally, the precipitating event that prompted this review. The plates provided us for the pizza were not clean. Either they were washed poorly or not at all. When I say "not clean", I am referring to food still encrusted on the plate and a general look of a hazy covering on the plate. Will we return to the Peninsula Grill even though we live close by? Probably not.

Kristi M.

Yelp
Burger was dry. The truffle mac and cheese tasted like sour cream, no sign of actual cheese. Such a disappointment. Staff was nice and friendly. Don't eat here. Overpriced. Worst food on our 5 day trip in Traverse City.

Aydin P.

Yelp
I work 3 hours from town every week building decks, shout out green shield deck building, I some times for get to pack lunch but it not a problem they have the best sandwiches and best wraps I have had, I'm still waiting to try the salad next time but they are fast and very good at what they do if yall ever in traverse city or around stop by and there food

Yelp
My husband and I love eating here and the view along the peninsula is beautiful and never gets old. The cherry chicken salad is wonderful and my husband loves the perch. Staff are all very sweet and the experience is outstanding every time we visit. We will be back soon.

Yelp
This is a very nice local bar and restaurant that is comfortable and welcoming. The staff were very kind and helpful, we even met the owner and talked for a while. They had a lot of variety for drinks including local wines and ciders. We wanted to try different wines and they even let us share a glass in two glasses. We only tried the pizza, but it was fantastic.

Yelp
Food was very good and the place was very clean. Great location and great place to go for a casual meal with family and friends.

Yelp
Terrible! Big fails at the waitress, the bar, and the kitchen. Waitress not knowledgeable about drinks. Watery cocktail. Wrong orders at bar and kitchen. Food not so good. I heard the manager is out with a serious illness which is sad. Let's hope they can set things right again. When the bill came I see that credit card payments will have a 3% surcharge. We were never warned of that.

Jane T.

Yelp
Arrived at 6:25 and hostess sat us down. No one waited on us for 20 minutes. No water or acknowledgement and hostess said nothing. A group was seated next to us while we were waiting. Waitress came to them within 5 minutes but before us. We got up and left at 6:45.

Heath T.

Yelp
Unbelievable orange soda. Service 0/10. wrong order multiple times and still didn't get what we asked for. Surprisingly over priced. Do not recommend

Don F.

Yelp
Quick and friendly service, smash burger was fantastic and I don't think anyplace can beat their dirty fries!

Molly T.

Yelp
This place was great! Delicious food, enchanting atmosphere, and a bonus section of games. The staff could have been nicer. Friends, 97% of the folks who come here are slightly confused tourists, maybe have some patience when folks don't automatically guess your food/drink service system.

Jane W.

Yelp
Great baby back ribs, cornbread and pizza. Nice bar, outdoor patio. Service is typically attentive and fast.

Order: -------- Lemon Lavender Martini -- Good TC old FashionBourbon -- Good Half Slack Ribs( Fries, Coleslaw,Corn Bread) -- Bad( Corn bread is so dry , Ribs should be cooked little more) Pulled Pork Tacos --Bad( Too Much Sweet Sauce) Pros: -------- Quick Service Good Host Good Interior Spacious Patio Free Parking 10-15 min to most Wineries 20 min to downtown Cons: ------- Food Definitely should get better

Yelp
Had a really unfortunate experience with this restaurant. My family was planning on ordering pizza for dinner so we called at 6. They informed us to call back at 6:30 to make the order if we wanted to get it at 7. When we called at 6:30 the same hostess we had spoken to said they were full for takeout and she would talk to the manager. The manager then said very rudely that "this is the industry" and despite what they said they will not place an order for us. Overall, very disappointed in the way the manager spoke to me as well as the fact we waited and made plans around what they had advised, only to be completely untrue. Do not rely on this restaurant to be a positive part of your Friday evening, would not recommend for pickup.
google avatar

Marie T.

Yelp
The food was ok, but the hostess ruined our lunch. She snatched the menu from my father's hand as I was translating it for him, since he does not speak English. She was rude and disrespectful to us. She made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. I would not go back to this place.

Nancy H.

Yelp
Kitchen screwed up both items ordered - one was an allergy - the other was a pizza that they only put toppings on 25 percent of the pizza - they remade the salad and offered to "throw some additional toppings on" we had already waited twice what they told us the wait would be for the food so we left - they really didn't care - the bartender/mgr gave us a refund of $3 from a $46 tab - food not worth it and service was not worth it at all!

Amy B.

Yelp
The server was the only good thing about the place. The black bean burger was microwaved and mushy. You're better off dealing with traffic and going into downtown TC.
google avatar

Jodi F.

Yelp
If you're looking for a bargain priced lunch, this isn't it. If you're looking for a convenient, tasty lunch on Old Mission Peninsula, this is a great place to stop. They had the lobster roll sandwich today, and while it's not quite as good as the one at The Landing in Ironton (near Charlevoix), it still hit the spot after a long, hot walk on the Tart trail.
google avatar

Michele E.

Yelp
Service was great the burger was really good. Pizza was so so. Very clean and service from all staff was attentive and kind. There aren't a lot of options in the area so we were pleasantly surprised.
google avatar

Brig M.

Yelp
Great food and quick service! The salmon is AMAZING! Cornbread is also a must. The jam and jalapeño with bacon is perfect.
google avatar

Marc F.

Yelp
Stopped in with the kids on the way back from the lighthouse. Reviews were not great, but we thought we would try it. Reviews were wrong, we had a fantastic dinner! Chilled atmosphere, great service and really good food. We enjoyed everything we ordered.
google avatar

Benjamin F.

Yelp
Great bar and grill restaurant near our bed and breakfast and many of the wineries. The smoked platter was delicious especially the brisket. Job well done. My wife enjoyed the whitefish very much. Highly recommend!

Pat K.

Yelp
The food is great and the staff all nice! I recommend you try the Smash Burger and fries (delicious)! My wife had the Grilled chicken cherry salad, and raved about it! I would definitely go back!
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
We had to wait a while before being waited on cause the bar server was very busy. We sat at a bar table because there was a small wait for regular seating. But when the food came it was very good. I had the grilled Chicken salad. Husband had the perch and we both we very happy with the meal. The cornbread was a separate order but it was great also. I recommend this restaurant. The wait was too long though. 4 star and not 5
google avatar

Debbie H.

Yelp
Super expensive! My husband and I stopped for lunch . I had the squash flat bread and an ice tea. He had the barbecue flat and a beer. The food was so so but the bill was $41.00. After tip it was almost $50. Way over priced!

Brian Y.

Yelp
We come to TC every summer and try to hit Peninsula Grill. This year we brought another family on 7/24 and unfortunately most of our dinner was not good . 2 had the hanger steak and both came out really cold, and the smashed potatoes not even fully cooked (the bone marrow butter was very good). Pizza also was not very good. Shrimp and grits was great. Our server was also very nice. Our friend was also very annoyed about the 3% up charge for using a credit OR debit card.

Yelp
After a mid October drive to the lighthouse and a winery on the peninsula, we saw this place and pulled over. We are visiting from NJ, let me tell you! We love this area of MI, wow the foliage! Getting back to the food - FOCUS- we had a delicious lunch, our waitress was very cheery and quick to serve us. My husband had a glass of wine and I had ice tea. The atmosphere was almost like a sports bar as ESPN was on all tv's. Anyway- the place was full this afternoon, happy people! We ordered a smash burger with chips and the classic Cesar salad with chicken. The burger was a perfect size- not over sized, perfect, also delicious! My salad came with the dressing on the side - YES! The Romain was crispy and fresh. The chicken breast was marinaded and tender to cut, yum! There was not a huge amount of shredded parma cheese, just right. Also, it was not a GIANT salad- loved it. Thanks for making the serving size "perfect" ya know what I mean! Back to NJ for us, thank you MI.

Lori R.

Yelp
This restaurant was always a go to for us after wine tasting on the Peninsula. Since Covid their food has consistently gone downhill. Tonight was a complete disappointment. My burger was fair at best. My husbands ribs were black and completely overdone. So sad to see the downhill slide. Our waitress was good. No complaints.
google avatar

Steve R.

Yelp
I heard good things about this place. Appears they've changed the menu. I wasn't pleased with the overcooked burger or the chips. The water appears to be well. Service sucked. Won't be back for certain.
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
This review is a review of two halves. Food was great, Pizza amazing. I will never go back due to the foul taste left in my mouth from the bartender. She was the worst, I imagine all her speciality drinks are sour as to match her personality. Someday this will bite this restaurant in the backside.. By the way this is probably my first ever 1 star review if not i will change the others as this is a new low.

Margie D.

Yelp
This nice spot is always humming! It's cheerful and fun, and has a nice menu. My favorite northern Michigan summer dinner is the fresh perch. Yum!

Carolyn B.

Yelp
Such a great meal and service. Our party had the salmon, chicken/orzo, ribs and artichoke dip. We enjoyed everything.

Susan B.

Yelp
Cute exterior. Food was terrible. Hamburger resembled a reheated hockey puck. Pulled pork sandwiches were cold along with the soup. Order was brought out wrong and we were expected to replate the food. And we were charged for their mistake. Awful! Would NEVER recommend.

Penny C.

Yelp
I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed. I've eaten at this establishment before, and I've had excellent service and excellent food, but I was deeply disappointed the past few times I have been. I had the perch -- it was cooked well, crispy with a nice breading, but it had absolutely no seasoning, no salt, nothing. If I ate piece of paper that would have had more flavor. The crab cakes were not great, they were quite fishy, not crispy on the outside and quite mushy. I will say though that we had a wonderful server. I will be taking a break from this place for a while. I'd also like to add I've loved this place in the past so I will be giving it a second chance and will do a follow up review! I would love to have my mind changed.
google avatar

Karen D.

Yelp
Amazing food but TERRIBLE customer service. When we were seated, the table was still sticky so I asked for a wipe down. Taylor brought us our drinks but then disappeared for about 20 minutes. We flagged her down and said we were ready to order. Taylor then told us that Laura would take over as our server. We never saw Laura or Taylor again. After another 15 minute wait, we were finally able to get the attention of Haley who took our orders. The food came out quickly after we ordered and it was delicious, but overall the interactions with the staff made me doubt if I'd come back again.
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
Nabbed a carry-out on 7/19719. Lobster Flatbread was incredible, wings decent (good flavor, but prefer them crispier). Cherry Chicken Salad was fresh but the chicken was a little bland. Tuna Nicosie was excellent, tuna was cooked neaely perfect. Biggest Miss: As a carry-out we were never asked if we wanted utensils, and frankly we forgot to ask. Fast forward 15 minutes later as we settle into a nice night on a boat on East Bay....no utensils, napkins, etc. HUGE MISS. #handsalads
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
This restaurant came highly recommended by my best friend and it was absolutely fantastic! I had the best lobster mac and cheese! I have been to upscale high end restaurants and ordered lobster mac and cheese and left disappointed, not at the Peninsula Grill, this was hands down amazing. They have lobster and pancetta and a creamy cheese sauce with penne pasta and panko bread crumbs. The dirty fries are no joke scrumptious and the whitefish pate was perfection. My friend really loved her smoked chicken and my other dining companion enjoyed a mug of the chicken pepper jack soup. The portions are enormous and match the price points given the quality. If you live in the area or are just on vacation like me, please stop in and have a great meal in a wonderful restaurant and bar!

Yelp
What was once a pleasant enough restaurant and bar with carefully prepared, if not very original, food has slowly slipped over the years. It's now a bar with sloppily prepared food and a menu that hasn't changed very much in years, other than to shrink as dishes requiring more skill or care disappeared. Dishes are served missing components and sauces. Meats and fish are over cooked or undercooked. The regular clientele appears largely too drunk to care. I used to really like this place, too.
google avatar

Fernanda O.

Yelp
Came here for dinner. This place has a very relaxed and cool vibe. They have a nice outdoor area and a cool bar area. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. We were recommended the dirty fries as an appetizer which we ordered and they did not disappoint. The fries came with a delicious white sauce, fries egg, cheese, pork, tomatoes and green onions. As entree we ordered a pull pork pizza and a wild mushroom pizza. These were really good as well. The pizza is a regular crust, nice and crispy. With enough toppings, cheese and sauce. I definitely recommend checking this place out when you are around the area.
