I celebrated my birthday at Peninsula House and was pleasantly surprised at the great quality of dishes.
The decor was the first thing that wow-ed me. I was chic, called upon its heritage and raw.
We somehow over-ordered but it was very worth it.
🍸Cocktails
We got both the chrysanthemum and Hojicha cocktail, which had very complex and well defined flavour notes. It was also prepared fairly quickly.
🍢Starters
We got the focaccia, which came with a kale dip and kombu spread. Bread was fresh and the spreads were very tasty. We also got a tomato dish which looked too good to eat! It was made with their home grown tomatoes, edible flowers and a green base which tasted abit like custard. The textures and fresh notes really made this dish stand out.
🍲 Main Course
We got a chicken dish, which had brocolini, roasted pears and a very well made chicken. My fiancé particularly enjoyed the dish! I got the seafood rissoto, which came with snow crab, caviar, bathed in a rich stock. Despite being very tasty, i felt that it lacked abit of depth, which was more commonly represented in things like prawn mee and hokkien mee.
🍧 Dessert
We didnt get dessert as we were stuffed. Portions could easily fit 2 pax. Because i am celebrating my birthday, the staff prepared a fruit dessert made with passionfruit and mascarpone cream? Topped with some crunchy bits.
Overall, dinner at Peninsula House was amazing and i would certainly return. The best part is that the restaurant is very photogenic and its toilets have aesop soap!
