Absolute 5 star experience here. The service was great and the food was top notch- I recommend their tomato salad and any dish that has octopus cos the octopus was perfectly buttery soft !!! Simply exquisite. The only thing that fell short was the lamb stew gnocchi.. it was a tad too sweet n the gnocchi was more on the starchy n floury side rather than a nice chewy bite. Menu will change every now n then. I’ve uploaded some photos of the menu. It’s super interesting. Please book in advance. There is also a 2 hour dining limit.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly Recommended | A Christmas Eve to Remember We had a truly wonderful Christmas Eve lunch at Peninsula House, and it was an experience that beautifully blended heritage, ambience, service, and exceptional food. Set within the iconic India House on Beach Street, the restaurant retains the elegance of the historic Art Deco building while offering a relaxed yet refined dining atmosphere. High ceilings, tasteful restoration, and a calm, welcoming vibe made it perfect for a meaningful gathering with friends. For our table of six, we followed the waitress’s recommendations and enjoyed a delightful sharing-style feast: Char Octopus Skewers – tender with a lovely smoky char Fritto Mare – light, crisp, and satisfying Commons Tomato & Microgreens – fresh and well-balanced Truffle Chicken (Half) – rich, aromatic, and so good we ordered it twice Whole Red Snapper – beautifully cooked and ideal for sharing Cannelloni – comforting and indulgent Cauliflower Bits – surprisingly addictive Desserts were a joy too, especially the Mille-Feuille, Spiced Poached Pear, and Tropical Eton Mess, complemented by well-prepared coffees and drinks. Service was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making the entire meal feel unhurried and special. At around RM133 per person, the experience felt excellent value for the quality, setting, and overall care. A heartfelt recommendation from Simply Love Penang Facebook group, Peninsula House is perfect for celebrations, meaningful gatherings, or anyone who appreciates good food served with respect for heritage and detail. We’ll definitely be back. 🌟 Simply ❤️ Penang 24th. December, 2025.

Cool place in an old building. I didn't see the restaurant sign down at the building therefore was a bit confused to locate the place. Either I missed it or they have to do a better job in proudly putting up signs. I like the very high ceilings and the space inside though the furniture and fittings can be of better quality despite trying to look young with the muji language. Chairs and table just feel too light in their materials. I am commenting on this as the restaurant is supposedly on the slightly upscale side. There are plenty of interesting modern food on the menu, fusion to some extent. We ordered the recommended Peruvian roast chicken and aged black Cod. Call me old fashioned, I was disappointed by the nicely decorated chicken with interesting and pretty nice sauce not overly rich, just gently refreshing and comfortable, the Brussel sprouts in it is a nice company better than the pear which I don't find it a best match. The real disappointment is the chicken though not tough at all even for the breast, which has hardly any taste of chicken if the obvious absence of the char or roast aroma is not the worse part. I need my roast chicken to be like chicken and roast chicken to get the passing mark first before we talk about the dressing and look that come as a bonus. The Cod is not too bad that at least it tastes like a good and fresh Cod I its simple broth that doesn't kill the original taste of the fish. I finished the broth though it may look a bit rude. For me, some basics to be improved. Get the basics right first before the fancy part to be able to stand out sustainably. Including the furniture and fittings if you are charging the price level you are charging, eg MYR 40+ for the cheapest glass of house wine. Hope it helps.

Located in one of Penang’s very old and charming buildings — the India House. There’s no visible signage for the restaurant, but it’s easy enough to find by taking the stairs inside this historical building. The interior has a modern Muji-style design — clean, comfortable, and spacious. It’s suitable for all kinds of groups. We went as a family of eight, and I really appreciated that there’s no minimum spending requirement, even for larger groups like ours. Sharing is allowed, which let us try a good variety of dishes from the menu. The food was excellent — even the older uncles and aunties in our group enjoyed it! 😄 The waitress was very attentive and helpful, patiently explaining the menu to us. The vegetables are freshly grown in-house from their own incubator, which makes every dish taste fresh and wholesome. Corkage for own wine is around RM90 per bottle Parking is available around the building or at the nearby Ali Nasi Lemak food court (about RM3 per hour). It’s just a short walk from there. Overall, a wonderful dining experience in a beautifully restored old building — definitely worth a visit!

Second time over. Menu change is refreshing. Just ends up being Aussie like. Wish they had a beef dish. Fish, pasta, octopus, mackerel, risotto and cocktails was all well presented. Delicious too! Wine selection was good and overall great experience. Staff of course was super attentive and helpful with everything. All in all, you pay for what you get.

I enjoyed my dining experience here immensely! To be fair, I popped by 3 times and at different times of the day to get a better picture of this restaurant. I sampled items from their lunch and dinner menu as well as their crafted distilled cocktails. The food was delicious and the cocktails even more so. The place is located upstairs, and the entire restaurant was spacious, airy, and with good natural light during the daytime. There is a relaxing vibe here. The team does a great job of making me feel welcome, explaining their menu, and recommending their choice of wine. Alas, I had my sights set firmly on their cocktail list and will definitely come back next time for the wine and also tasting other items on their menu! Although dinner time is almost always full on weekends (they have 2 seatings), I have observed that everything seems to run smoothly and the higj service level remained unperturbed.

I’m really sorry to say this, but the food was disappointing. We ordered the grilled fish, which wasn’t properly marinated and tasted very bland. The chef’s recommendation which is the chicken, was underwhelming as well. It tasted just like the kind of roast chicken you can get at any local chicken rice stall. The gambas were even worse, they reminded me of a typical Chinese garlic and ginger prawn dish, with no hint of the chilli oil that was supposed to define the flavour. Overall, the experience was just okay. The service and atmosphere didn’t add anything special, and when it comes to the food alone, it felt like a waste of a good dining opportunity.
