We requested to sit outside to eat. Our server was attentive and pleasant even though it was super busy. It started getting cold, so they put the heaters on for us. The food we got was delicious. The wings were cooked perfectly, and the Brussel sprouts were delectable! The amount was perfect for two people. I did order an espresso martini, and unfortunately, I had to send it back because it tasted awful. They don't use real espresso. The waiter told me beforehand, and I said I'd try it anyway. (Now I know, not to order them there.) Replaced it with a cold beer! We'll come back for dinner again.

Very nice setting, we sat outside. Had a couple of beers and shared an appetizer. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. The appetizer was tasty.

We sat outside and the weather was amazing for November! There was a great singer playing his guitar! The burger was the best we ever had and the apple crisp green salad was so fresh and tasty! Highly recommend!

Popped in on a whim with zero expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Casual pub vibe in a historic building. Our server was very attentive and we appreciated that he immediately asked if we’d like to put our kids’ orders in first so he could get them going while we adults took our time deciding on our meals. Food was really good, as was the patio punch.

Google
Stopped in for a quick lunch, and the food was way better than expected! The turkey club was amazing, and the fries were seasoned perfectly. The burger was big and juicy. Our server was very friendly. We will definitely be back!

Google
We had our son's graduation luncheon with his grandparents there 2 Thursdays ago. It was great, and we even got to sit out on the patio. Thank you for making it special for our family while celebrating our son's milestone of graduation from CBSOUTH.

Google
Stopped here for lunch. They have a nice outdoor patio. What's not so nice is they add a 3% credit card surcharge to the bill. Come on, these credit card processing fees have been around forever. It's a cost of doing business. If it's that big of a deal, just raise your prices. People hate extra fees.

Yelp
The food is just OK here but we come for the Happy Hour Specials (gotta order before 6 PM for the cheap drinks) and the wonderful (2 female) bartenders who work super hard and are very funny and attentive. We enjoy it here for Happy Hour and it's less "snobby" than some D-town spots. Good music, too.

Yelp
Not too much to rave about the Penn Taproom on State St in Doylestown. Limited and basic menu with average eats. Chicken overcooked and dry and nachos no better. Staff slow and limited seating the night we came as the upstairs was closed - way too hot on a 98 degree day to dine outside so one of the 6 hightops had to do. No menus. QR code only and no pricing on drink menu so we skipped the booze. We came we ate - we left. Would not recommend.

Ami R.

Yelp
Great outdoor dining setup but the wait time on weekends can be long. Food is standard fare. Great for people watching. Kid and family friendly.

Jodi W.

Yelp
I don't expect much when ordering for a kid off a kids menu. But really disappointed at the tiny bowl of Mac and cheese for $7 that didn't even fill up my 5 year old who gets full fast. Had to get a second order and it had butter and barely a speck of cheese. $14 for Mediocre Mac. My food was good.

Yelp
I recently wrote a review after having a very negative experience. I was completely wrong for using inappropriate language however the treatment we received was so appalling that I couldn't help myself... The lack of apo ftlogy was disgraceful. They refused to work with us. A simple apology could have resolved the whole incident. I do apologize for my bad language but I also would like an apology for horrible service we received. The server dropped our food 1 hour after we were waiting while others had been served who came in after us. I basically snapped on became very angry at their lack of concern.

Yelp
I've lived in Doylestown for the last 4 years and have enjoyed going to different places in town. I thought I'd give this place another try but I was really disappointed with the service and food. The worst Philly cheesesteak I've every had, and I'm from Philly. Bartenders service was bad as they seemed to enjoy posing for photos and being on their phones rather than watching patrons. Very, very disappointing experience. Will not be back. Would have posted zero for review, but that was not an option.

Yelp
Solid spot for lunch with a cute outdoor patio! My friends and I came here for a late lunch/early dinner. I had the Moscow mule to drink and it was good! We also shared the edamame and hummus plate to start. Both were good, but the edamame really hit the spot. For my main entree, I had the Buffalo chicken wrap that comes with house made chips. I really enjoyed it! It had great flavor and the chicken was super crispy. I love me some homemade chips, so they really hit the spot! All in all, this is a great no frills spot. I enjoyed sitting outside and catching up with my friends!

Yelp
So we were going to a place down the street. Issue was I just got out of the gym. So I wasn't dressed for success. We stepped in there and were like let's go somewhere a little less formal. That's how we ended up at this joint. Cute little outside patio. It wasn't bad. I got guac and chips to start. The guac was ok but mostly just avocado. The avocado wasn't really crushed up. Large chunks. Chips were just chips. Nothing special. For main course I got the Hawaiian Turkey burger. That wasn't too bad. The side chips weren't great. Crispy yet somehow kinds soggy at the same time. My wife got an old fashioned but wasn't terribly impressed. She also got Mahi Mahi tacos. She said those were ok. I tried some of her salsa and it was boring. No real taste. Overall nothing really stood out to me positive or negative.

Yelp
Friendly neighborhood tavern on restaurant row, State Street, Doylestown, PA., with above average draft list and decent kitchen. It was crowded for a late lunchtime on a state holiday, but we grabbed two stools at the bottom of the bar and settled in for afternoon dejeune and conversation. Noisy room as might be expected, but not so much that we couldn't hear each other. Our luck that my old friend knew the owner and we received a lot of attention. I ordered their pierogi tapas, a half dozen dough pockets of mashed potato and cheese with sautéed onion on top. My buddy went with a large green salad with chicken. We managed to consume everything between extended chats with a neighboring bar person who wanted to join our talk about nursing and law, and the owner who was big into skiing as was my companion's family. The pierogi were described as homemade, but were pretty much average. Thicker skinned, they were a bit chewier than necessary, but still a decent snack. My friend said nothing about his salad, but ate all of it. Overall, a pleasant winter afternoon diversion in a hometown bar in the cozy part of Doylestown Borough. PRO TIP - Parking is a challenge. Be on the lookout before you reach your destination.

Yelp
Been to Taproom many times, including twice recently. First time was on Memorial Day to watch the parade. Went to sit down at an outside table in an uncrowded area, but female worker or manager told me it was a "private party," so despite being long time customer, had to vacate. You'd think they would have seen me speaking with some of the employees and say "cmon in, have a seat, plenty of room......" A few weeks later, I go there for dinner. Dinner was good but portions could be bigger. The calamari very disappointing, a small portion and was like small rubber bands.

Yelp
- one of the latest places open on a saturday night - good selection of beers - fun to hang out with friends, outdoors I loved the outdoor space - friendly bartenders - festive environment with lit partygoers - I dont recall if there was music playing

Rod H.

Yelp
Stopped in on May 15, 2022 (a Sunday) for dinner around 5 p.m. There was already a crowd waiting for seating. The hostesses are young, and disappear for long periods. That said, the food was excellent pub fare, and the bartender was perfectly attentive and welcoming. The quesadilla is outstanding, and I really enjoyed the fish and chips. Although the fries are good, they aren't anything spectacular either. My companion had the wings and loved them. Big screen TVs playing sports were on every available wall with the sound turned off. The music was eclectic. Not being a beer drinker, I've passed this place over many times as a local. I won't make that mistake again and I encourage others to do likewise.

Glenn S.

Yelp
Excellent craft brew selection and friendly service. I ordered the veggie burger which was just a Dr. Praeger burger on a decent bun with garlic aioli, lettuce, onion, tomato and white American cheese. They gave me the top of a tomato (see picture) that's usually discarded. The fries were just frozen fries. There were not many vegetarian options on the menu and the food was just your average pub grub. Beers were pricy at $9 for a 12oz. Nothing special about this place.

Miles A.

Yelp
Stopped in and it was decent, had a burger and fries. Two drafts. Prices seemed okay, food was alright too. Nice little spot on the main stretch.

Fallon R.

Yelp
Great location in town. Better than average bar food. Good beer selection. Nice hangout spot especially outside.

Michelle B.

Yelp
I ordered the wings and Pierogi's for my bf. My wings were cooked perfectly and I ordered the mild but I definitely should have gotten the Buffalo. They were still absolutely amazing. I asked for extra ranch and celery and bar tender assured me he did that! (My food was to go). My bf ate his whole meal and hyped it up! We're just visiting friends here in town but would definitely visit again!

JoAnne A.

Yelp
Great spot to hit if you are in Doylestown! Great little bar and nice outdoor seating. They have heaters to keep you warm even in the cooler weather. Service is always great and the food is consistent. Just recently went for dinner and we shared the chicken quesadilla and crab and scallop pot pie. The quesadilla was cooked perfectly and had delicious flavor! The scallops in the pie were overcooked but the flavor was great! Service was a 10 out of 10!

Karina L.

Yelp
My husband and I love Doylestown and were looking to try a new place for lunch. Spontaneously came across this gem! From the hostess to the waiter, we had an absolutely great experience. We sat outside. It felt like we were back in Europe not PA! We loved the atmosphere and decor inside and outdoors. We had chicken quesadillas, fish and chips and somehow I only captured a photo of the Truffle burger. Such a delightful place and a must try. P.S, those potatoes are life!

Kat C.

Yelp
This is like if a mediocre pub was mediocre... at everything. Food. Cocktails. Service. There's literally no reason to go here other than the outdoor dining area, which is nice for sitting and the only reason it gets two stars. But since you won't enjoy your food or drinks, why bother? lol. They were out of every beer my friend wanted, and my cocktails were like the shit I remember from the "nice" college bar - you know, they had a brand you recognized instead of the jet fuel at the fake ID place. Anyway, if you must go somewhere, and this is the place, I'd play it safe and only grab a beer (if they have it), then move on to somewhere else for food and cocktails.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Great service; bartender gave great beer recommendation; white garden pizza was really good.

A W.

Yelp
Cute place. Nice bar , but only seats about 16 people. We went for happy hour, but no HH specials. With a name like Penn's Taproom, I was looking for a nice beer selection. Ended up with Miller lite. They do have a Gluten Free drink section. Never seen that before.

Mia W.

Yelp
Thursday evening out with 'the boss'. Cruised to Doylestown and found Penn Taproom looking cozy with fire pits and outdoor heat lamps. Beautiful! We chose to sit in the bar area against the big windows to optimize the outside ambiance and people watch. Enjoyed drafts of Sierra Nevada Octoberfest (when in spooky season) coupled with a pair of burgers. Can I just say how beautiful the presentation was? When does anything look like the menu?? And those onion rings-they didn't stand a chance. Everything was delicious, warm, meaty/melty, and perfect for a beautiful fall evening out. Shout out to our bartender who was working the floor and tables - great service. Thank you Penn Taproom!

Dana L.

Yelp
Bar and location were great. The food was not sub-par with not a lot of thought put into it.

Elaine B.

Yelp
This revenue is based on a recent visit. My friend and I ordered the Crazy Bleu salad containing beef plus two unsweetened iced teas. Salad arrived and tasted OK, but as soon as I was finished mine, I needed to use the bathroom as my stomach was upset. Once we got to the Michener Museum only blocks away, I couldn't get to the bathroom fast enough. My friend had the same experience once she got home an hour later. The meat was the culprit as we agreed it was either bad or wasn't well cooked. Stay away from this place, please. The health dept should be notified, imo!

Emily W.

Yelp
Shrimp tacos were amazing!! Staff were very friendly too. I ordered a mojito, but i ended up not liking it, so they took it back and didn't charge me :) My only complaint is that the slushie drinks were very pricey, and there was no price tag. Everything else was superb!

Mike G.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Doylestown for happy hour . Their food is really top notch and it is a great atmosphere. Their wings are the best around, my only complaint is that they don't have " hot " sauce so they are a little tame. They are cooked so well , I think they have a thin layer of spiced coating that makes them awesome! The cheesesteak egg rolls are also in the best ever category, really good! I will be trying the burger sometime soon , I'll bet they are really good!

Emily M.

Yelp
I sat at the bar for the first time and it was not a pleasant experience. Bartenders took forever to come over to take our orders. Very hard to get their attention. The female bartender was drinking on the job. There were people visibly drunk near us and speaking crudely. The female bartender was also speaking inappropriately. Both bartenders were constantly talking with their backs turned from customers. The overall service was poor. I've been coming to this restaurant and never had a bad experience until now. Table service has always been great. Now I know to not sit at the bar on a weekend again.

Dana S.

Yelp
Beautiful outdoor patio perfect for those who still feel more comfortable eating outside with covid. They have plenty of tables and the wait was pretty quick. They do not take reservations for the outdoor patio. I really enjoyed their cocktail menu with great season drinks!

Natalie S.

Yelp
Went here for drinks and appetizers during covid. I sat outside by the fire pit which was really cozy. Service was alright. They give generous wine pours which is a huge plus. The only food that I had were the sweet potato fries and it was literally the best fries I've ever had. It was crunchy and had a sweeter taste than your typical sweet potato fries. I would drive an hour to go back to Penn Tap just for the sweet potato fries, that's how delicious it was!

April H.

Yelp
I enjoyed the outdoor dining area. It has a casual and relaxed vibe, perfect for a summer evening. Nice beer selection and tasty margaritas. The fish tacos are solid and the shrimp and crab salad was also quite good with impressive pieces of shrimp and crab and a huge portion too!! The spring roll appetizer was so-so. Service was average-not bad, but not great. The food came out fast and hot! Perfect!! I would def go back.

Emma C.

Yelp
Penn Taproom is a forever favorite for me and my friends. Every time we go out in Doylestown we find ourselves ending up here. The food is great quality, the drinks are always perfectly made, and everyone is always so kind. Gabby was our waitress last night and she absolutely made our night. She was so funny and entertaining and gave us some great recommendations (those Jalapeño margs are spicy and delicious). She always checked on our table and had some great conversations with us and even kept up with me and my friends banter which made our experience that much more fun. Even while we waited for our table, the GM was checking in on staff passing by to make sure they were doing okay with how busy it was. We have never had a bad experience here and will always make this our spot. Absolutely recommend to anyone in this area or passing through!

Lorma C.

Yelp
Came here for a Goose Island beer event on an August Saturday night. As usual, parking in Doylestown was a nightmare...parked down a side street off of Court and Hamilton Streets. Arrived around 8:00 PM..bar was pretty packed, but managed to find a pub table near the bar. Bartenders were super nice!! Ordered a burger and the shrimp seaweed salad for dinner. The boyfriend said the burger was ok. The waiter never returned with the side of mayo and ketchup as requestes. My salad was yummy. The shrimp was grilled perfectly. The seaweed salad was good. Overall, a solid dish. Good service, laid back atmosphere.... We will be back...

Julie S.

Yelp
The only things good were the beer and outdoor patio. The food sucked. The wait was long. Hubby sent his "filet" back. My burger was raw. The guacamole was like a whipped up paste. Gross. We left hungry with our uneaten food on the table.

Jim K.

Yelp
Serviceable burgers and other bar foods. Nothing great, but everything competent and consistent. Top thing really is beer selection.

Janet T.

Yelp
Penn Taproom doesn't disappoint with a beautiful patio overlooking a busy and quaint main street of Doylestown. Service is friendly and prompt, even if your team is playing against the Eagles. Only had drinks here but they were good. They will even make you a tasty mocktail.

Lucas T.

Yelp
This is truly a legendary restaurant. I must say the service I got there, ummm absolutely wonderful! The serving staff are the best in the business, especially the lovely young lady Taylor. Next up on the list let's talk about the food. Oh yes the food is marvelous. Big props to the kitchen staff working back there, I'm not sure who they are but they truly know their stuff when it comes to cooking, second to none. Now of course we can't talk about the people that make it all work, the manager/owner. Now they might be working behind the scenes but their love for the restaurant really makes it a great and fun place to go and eat. Albert and chadathan are two terrific gentlemen who dedicate all their time to making sure your time there is well worth it. I can't give enough credit to the support staff there making sure everything runs smoothly. I mean, come on, when it's a hot and busy day and all the servers are running around like crazy, you know u can count on the bussers to take care of u. One busser in particular I would like to give a little shout out to is a younging with the name nick. Well my, my this kid is on top of his stuff, u can really tell that he loves his job. Last but not least is the bar tenders. When your trying to let loose and get wild these bar tenders will be right there with you making sure your glass is always full. In conclusion, this is definitely the place u wanna go for a good time!

Colby Y.

Yelp
Came in at night for some drinks and finger food. Waitress Gabrielle W was rude to our table and did not seem like she wanted to serve us. We were very polite to her from the start, she just seemed very inattentive. She was nice to other tables so not too sure what was up with that. Food was mediocre, drinks were decent. The bus boy Aiden, however was very nice, trying to make up for how rude Gabrielle was treating us

Kristie H.

Yelp
Don't recall last time was here but pretty sure if was since previous review. Just went today for late lunch and food was great! Service was a bit slow, but fine. Bartender/waitress was very nice. We had to leave because of a biker reunion/party coming in. This is obviously not a reflection on establishment. This crowd was fine coming in but could see it was slowly getting rowdy (they tend to take one and think they they own the place - rude!) and didn't want to be a part of it. We had an excellent time until that point (except for the fact that it was bit chilly - wouldn't horrible for them to turn up the heat to offset freezing winds coming in when door opened).

James F.

Yelp
I started going to this restaurant when Faith became the bartender here. Because she has a friendly personality and she truly cares about her guest. Everything they puppy here is delicious and mouthwatering.

Zach V.

Yelp
After an afternoon of drinking in Doylestown the group I was with wanted to grab lunch. We were seated upstairs so we could catch the Flyers game. The beer list was in a binder that had a bunch of corrections etc... it looked like a child updated it. I was surprise to see they did have Russian River Damnation in bottles and I did enjoy one. The standout was the wings. They were grilled and deep fried. They were so good i'm adding them to my best wings list. Our burgers were good but nothing to rave about. The laughable thing on their menu is the hot dog. Its $6.45 and is just a small hot dog on a large hoagie type roll. For some reason one of the guys in our group got one but he regretted it. I would have given the Penn Taproom 2 stars but the quality of the wings and the choice of a Russian River beer earned an extra start. Our food came out at different times so some people were finished eating before the others got their food.

Viviana Y.

Yelp
We wanted a dog friendly place that serves something a vegetarian can choose. Wow, we were not expecting how yummy and fun this place is. The best was their waffles.. OMG, I am not a big waffle person. But these were fantastic! We definitely recommend!

Stephen B.

Yelp
Glad the weather is good now and the patio is open. Always enjoy the burgers and drinks. Service was very friendly as usual but seemed a little off. Overall another great meal.

Julie S.

Yelp
Nice looking place and we enjoyed our Penn Taproom martinis before our dinner. We were just getting something to eat before heading over to the County Theater. Very good burgers, totally enjoyable. We had the onion rings as an appetizer...those were a little greasy. It's not the best place in town, but since we've never been there before, and its so convenient to the movie theater, the dinner we had was very good. Would go back there.

John B.

Yelp
Where do I begin? Ordered Corona and after 20 minutes I received a Corona Light. The Ceviche tasted like it was marinaded in bottled, store bought lime juice, and the fish was definitely not fresh. The quesadillas weren't bad but given the experience with the other appetizers, including a very underwhelming onion dip, and the horrendous service, I would definitely pass this place up.

Sutirtha B.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. We were promptly seated upstairs in a cosy section of the restaurant.Jess was our server and she was prompt in taking our orders. We went with an order of a fish n chips and turkey burger where I think the fish they had was the haddock. I was impressed that the restaurant was willing to make a substitution and give us a turkey burger instead of a regular burger. Our orders came out reasonably quickly. I really enjoy food that is served piping hot and that was one of the things that stood out at the restaurant: the food was very hot (as it should be). I had the fish n' chips and I found the fish to be fresh and nicely fried. Not all was hunky dory though. The sauteed vegetables that my wife got seemed syrupy. Why would vegetables be sweet/ syrupy? Also, the up-charge for the vegetables at $3 (I think) seemed excessive. Those few things are what cause me to take off a star. One final word - I left my hat at the restaurant by mistake and I didn't realize it until I was back at my apartment. I reached out to the restaurant right then and they offered to hold it until later till I came back to retrieve it. The next weekend I was able to go the restaurant and pick up my hat. Thanks to the owner, Chad, for helping me out on that front.

Fred I.

Yelp
Great in the Summertime, but that's about all these days. I use to go here all the time, but the food quality just isn't what it was a few years ago. I love sitting at the bar when the windows are open for happy hour in the summertime. Sitting outside is great as far as the atmosphere goes, but the service is extremely slow. If you're at a table outside order your drinks two at a time. The staff at the bar is fantastic though

Zoey G.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place!! We have over-explored doylestown so many times, yet always missed this gem. Nice atmosphere, and I thought our waitress was really sweet and attentive. Cheesesteak was HUGE. Surprising portion for its price!!

Clare Marie K.

Yelp
Good variety of beer; limited wine. Fun place, good conversation all around. Friendly staff as well as customers

Reed L.

Yelp
The best option in Doylestown on a Sunday night! Friendly, welcoming and open late! So many other restaurants in Doylestown close early, not here, and so many restaurants give you attitude when they want to close early.
