Yelp
Friendly neighborhood tavern on restaurant row, State Street, Doylestown, PA., with above average draft list and decent kitchen. It was crowded for a late lunchtime on a state holiday, but we grabbed two stools at the bottom of the bar and settled in for afternoon dejeune and conversation. Noisy room as might be expected, but not so much that we couldn't hear each other. Our luck that my old friend knew the owner and we received a lot of attention.
I ordered their pierogi tapas, a half dozen dough pockets of mashed potato and cheese with sautéed onion on top. My buddy went with a large green salad with chicken.
We managed to consume everything between extended chats with a neighboring bar person who wanted to join our talk about nursing and law, and the owner who was big into skiing as was my companion's family.
The pierogi were described as homemade, but were pretty much average. Thicker skinned, they were a bit chewier than necessary, but still a decent snack. My friend said nothing about his salad, but ate all of it.
Overall, a pleasant winter afternoon diversion in a hometown bar in the cozy part of Doylestown Borough.
