I bought this a couple of months ago and decided to try it today, but look at the poorly made bottle cap! I spent over $80 USD on this, and I’m so disappointed. I’m still trying to figure out how to open the bottle. The workmanship is very low quality, even though I haven’t tried the bourbon yet. I definitely won’t be buying this again.

nobody's business

Google
The staff is very friendly, was greeted within seconds of entering. They let me try almost everything. I really like this concept, because you can purchase based on what suits your taste. Everytime I visit PA I pick up a couple of bottles. I have even placed orders online. The coconut Rum and the cream bourbon are my favorites. Great service and even greater products.

Great selection, found the cure for what ales ya that's for sure..

If you’re looking to add something new to your mixed drinks and learn all about local brewed spirits, take some time to visit here. I learned so much about spirits and the local distilleries while visiting this store. The associate there was just a wealth of knowledge when it came to the products that they serve. There’s tastings too. So if you’re not sure about a spirit you can usually taste it before purchasing. I love taking a gander and some of the new products they get and I feel good knowing I’m getting something pa home grown.

Google
The experience we had here was wonderful! Super friendly staff who walked us through their wide range of products and gave great recommendations. We were just passing through Pittsburgh on our way home from the holidays, but I’d definitely come back here next time we’re in the area. Highly recommend!

Google
There was only one person working in the store; but she's great. She was able to give tastings, answer people's questions, suggest great drinks, direct them to the correct bottles, and handle payment! I would gladly return when I am in need of a gift or something to drink!

Asked the mid aged woman at the bar about a honey whisky they offered samplings of, verses a mead style that is traditionally honey based…and she told me that a mead is a wine and that’s the difference. What?!?! Mead is brewed like a beer- if it was a wine, it would be called wine. Then after a few remedial questions, about the products she was serving, reciprocated by an alarming amount of ignorance from her part, my husband and I determined we’ll never purchase anything here and left immediately- seems staff doesn’t even know what they’re serving, or worse, doesn’t care to train their staff and we dont spend money on blatant stupidity. We’ll be telling our friends about this one over a few drinks purchased elsewhere- it’s a good laugh.

Amazing Wonderful Delightful! The first ever taste b4 u buy store and in Pittsburgh to boot. WOW! Dana is the most knowlegable person I was extremely impressed by her. She knows the items they sell and does a fantastic job in steering you to what you like. I Highly recommend a visit here, you will buy something, it's inevitable.

Yelp
Located in the strip District of Pittsburgh. Super convenient. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable. Love the local selections. I'm not certain of the pricing since I'm not local, Based on what I was introduced, they do have bottle runs between $30 up to $100+ . The shop is quite spacious for a liquor store in the middle of downtown. They do offer military discounts for veterans shop made liquor. The atmosphere was very relaxing and inviting. There are paid parking lots nearby in the district that charges a flat fee. Definitely recommend @WineDinenVacay

Yelp
What's not to love? The selection was diverse and plentiful. The women behind the counter knew what they were talking about and even educated me on local likes. We tasted about six different things, and we were not charged a dime. I intended to buy something before I flew back home but wasn't able to get back there. I'm heading back soon and will make this a must-stop to pick something up that's local.

Juliana S.

Yelp
Super wide selection of locals brews. John helped me out and he was super nice and personable, good with recommendations. He did a good job at being attentive and respectful to all the customers. Definitely recommend stopping in! If not for the friendly service, for the wide selection of local drinks!

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
I've been wanting to visit this place for a long time. It's nice to be able to visit another place in PA and look at all local to the state liquor. Compared to going to the state store. They have a lot of stuff that I'm not familiar with. You're able to taste up to 4 drinks of something. We tried a couple apple brandy's, and some other items from Liberty Pole Spirits, and Maggie's. We found a great Apple Brandy from homer city. Loved it, 80 proof and not sweet at all. I mentioned that I make wine at home. He said to bring in a bottle to try next time I will 100% bring in a bottle the next time I'm here. Always love others trying my stuff out.

Yelp
we were walking around, looking for some Pittsburgh Pirates merch when I saw margarita sign they have a to go drink bar with yummy drinks! whats better than that? if they had tacos i guess lol

Yelp
A friend told us about this place in the Strip district and so glad we stopped in! We went in on a Saturday around 1pm and it was busy! They specialize/only carry libations from Pennsylvania companies only. In the back of the store they doing sampling off pretty much any and all of the libations. We did samples of several of the beverages and the spirits master who was assisting us was super knowledgeable! He shared history of the various distilleries and was exceptional about explaining the tasting notes of each. Because we were running around that day, we didn't buy anything but went back on Tuesday around 11:30am and purchased the blackberry lemonade moonshine. The location was much slower and not crowded at all which made for a more enjoyable shopping experience. The service we received was probably the best service we got during our entire time in Pittsburgh (5 days). They are a small shop so social distancing is hard. Masks are not required and employees do not wear masks. Pay parking is available around the area. Highly suggest downloading the PGH parking meter app as it's so much easier to keep track of your parking and extend it from your phone instead of having to go back to the meter to add money.

Jane M.

Yelp
The person working was friendly and knowledgeable. It was great to be able to sample some of the products we were interested in. Looking forward to going back again.

Yelp
This is one of the greatest spots to shop in the Strip, hands down. Pennsylvania Libations stocks and sells Pennsylvania-made spirits, wines, ciders, meads, and beers. If it isn't a type of alcoholic drink created in the Keystone State, it isn't sold here. It's a great idea for a store, especially considering how many shoppers in this area like to shop local and support their city and state alike. I admit that my last visit was pre-COVID, but I was impressed back then! The storefront was cozy, which I think we all expect to some degree when shopping in the Strip. But more importantly, the walls were FILLED with bottles and bottles of fabulous brews and spirits. I delighted in casually strolling through and reading the names of the numerous different makers and products alike. I also had a very hard time picking what to take home (and sticking to a reasonable budget for a single day of shopping!). The staff here are also great; they're always happy to chat and answer questions. If you're a first-time visitor, don't be afraid to seek them out and ask for their thoughts! Especially since the amount of product in this store can potentially be overwhelming to look through, and their expertise can point you to the perfect purchase. Again, it's been a while since I shopped here, but I remember my pre-pandemic visits fondly. I'll have to make sure I return here when my current supplies run low!

Rachel C.

Yelp
This is such a cool shop! Totally dedicated to PA liquors, they carry what looks like hundreds of bottles of the Keystone State's finest! And you know what the best thing is? You can try them all! Seriously not sure if you can try them all... But every sample I asked for, I got! I went in looking for Boyd & Blair's new cocktail in a bottle, specifically the chai tea mule bottle. SIDE NOTE: It is SO GOOD and you MUST get one asap! So I tried a handful of the other cocktails in a bottle (all excellent) and then tried the Maggie's Farm Rum new Pumpkin Coffee Rum. DELICIOUS and a local rum distiller right down the street actually. It's a tiny store, so if you're heading there on a weekend, beware you may have to wait a little to go in or get a sample. Worth the wait though! The staff has been nice and helpful when I'm looking for something specific and will chat with you about the product too. Clearly they know their stuff! I think this is a the perfect spot to take out of town visitors or to grab a gift for someone. But also, make sure to buy for yourself too... Cheers!

Craig R.

Yelp
Becky was extremely helpful in finding what our taste was and suggesting the right stuff. The selection here is excellent and we will definitely be back soon!

Carissa C.

Yelp
Such a neat place! We were in town for the weekend, and stumbled upon this shop while strolling along the strip district. On a busy Saturday, we were greeted by a staff member who was an ex-Houstonian. He was very knowledgeable and allowed us to sample several different bourbons and whiskeys. Our favorite was the bourbon creme! All of the products are locally crafted throughout the state of Pennsylvania, and we love supporting local businesses. While we wish we could've brought some back home to Houston, we're glad to have found this gem!

Shannon W.

Yelp
I enjoy stopping in here when I am visiting the strip district. They offer free samples and the staff is always able to offer recommendations. I recommend stopping by the next time you're in the strip.

David B.

Yelp
Get ready for an adventure, Pennsylvania Libations is a unique store and there's lots to learn and experience The staff is enthusiastic, and they were able to customize a rye whiskey tasting right on the spot. We had lots of questions, and we appreciated the knowledgeble responses. I've visited a few craft distilleries, but here are all the products from Pennsylvania under one roof. It's fun to taste things side by side, it's a wonderful way to compare. If you decide to buy, the prices are reasonable.

Leila M.

Yelp
I love that a store like this exists! Spotlighting statewide spirits is a great way to support small businesses, craft spirits, and keep money in the community. In the past when I've been offered samples while visiting but on this quiet Monday afternoon the woman at the front helped me find the peat whiskey I was looking to restock and then let me look over the rest of the selection without interruption. I appreciate how this shop utilizes its space. It's not a big store but there is so much to look at. The spirits are organized by type with their locations labeled. Definitely worth a stop when strolling the strip.

DJ K.

Yelp
Would never go there again. Visiting from out of state, we enjoyed the strip district until we walked into this store. One very rude individual working on a Sunday afternoon during peak tourist time. Do not go here unless you enjoy being insulted and overcharged. Someone needs to tell the staff they are not in New York City or San Francisco and they might want to tone down their attitude. Everyone we met in PA was so nice, unlike this store.

David C.

Yelp
Pennsylvania Libations is a must stop shop in the Strip District of Pittsburgh!! For all you alcohol connoisseurs, everything they feature is local to Pennsylvania. And the best part is, they let you sample as many different kinds of liquor as your heart desires. They aren't afraid to let you sample anything because they know the liquor will speak for itself on it's quality. After we probably had too much to sample, our favorites came out to be their bourbon and their bourbon creme! Super smooth, yet complex in flavor, they definitely had us wanting more! I was just sad that we didn't have any room in our luggage to bring some back to Houston, Texas, but regardless we thoroughly enjoyed this establishment!

Dan N.

Yelp
If you are on the strip, you have to stop in. The staff will introduce you to the many PA liquors and have you taste a few as well to see what you like. They even have GF options such as GF whiskey made with corn and no barley. Stop by for sure and pick up a bottle.

D T.

Yelp
Great selection from Pennsylvania distilleries. During the quarantine you can order online and a guy on the sidewalk takes your invoice number, walks in the store and returns with your order brought to you on the sidewalk. Great service.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
While wandering by on Sunday, an enthusiastic associate pulled us into the Pennsylvania Libations shop. I was unfamiliar with the store and enjoyed taking a quick look at the products sold. Pennsylvania Libations calls itself a "spirits boutique" and is PA's first non-state liquor store (made possible by getting creative within the new liquor laws). The space wasn't anything too fancy. Shelves lined the shop by category with the different brand options. A woman stood up front pulling customers into the store while a bartender served samples behind a bar in the back. Below are some of the brands currently available from the store: Big Spring Spirits - Bellefonte, PA Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka - Glenshaw, PA CJ Spirits - Kane, PA Conneaut Cellars - Conneaut Lake, PA The Historic Stone House - Farmington, PA Liberty Pole Spirits - Washington, PA Maggie's Farm Rum - Pittsburgh, PA Manatawny Still Works - Pottstown, PA Ridgerunner Distillery - Chalkhill, PA Thistle Finch - Lancaster, PA Xplorer Spirits - Allentown, PA Of the brands listed above, I was only familiar with Maggie's Farm Rum, so this shop could bring a lot of notoriety to new distilleries within the state. I look forward to a tasting some time in the near future!

Ron C.

Yelp
I came here for the first time today as it's open during the current Covid-19 pandemic going on worldwide. The gentleman who helped me was great in helping me select a great rum and vodka as well as some mixers. It's a great one stop shop for locally distilled spirits.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
I've visited Pennsylvania Libations before and after COVID and both were great experiences. In normal operations, they are happy to give a sample of anything and everything in the store. They are knowledgeable of all products and happy to guide you based on preference whether it be a specific type of alcohol or flavor. During the COVID pandemic, I placed an order online for pickup. They were very organized with a line for pickup on one side of the store and a line for walk ups on the other.

Meghan B.

Yelp
I LOVE this spot. It's a perfect addition to Pittsburgh's strip district and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a high-quality liquor. I love that you can sample anything in the store before you buy it (and if you do, be sure to tip the staff!). They have really unique flavored items like lavender vodka, so trying before buying is the right move. I love coming here not only when I'm looking for something for myself, but it's a fantastic place to buy gifts for others. I bought Brendan a bottle of really cool vodka last year and recently purchased some gin from Homer City for my two co-workers. The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. Can't recommend Pennsylvania Libations enough.

Yelp
Saturday morning in the Strip about two weeks before Christmas brought me across the threshold of this neat little space. I noticed a hum of excitement from the street and just had to pop in and check things out. I found all kinds of people shooting the breeze while the sampled different libations. I pursued the bottles on the back wall near the bar, and despite being busy one of the employees noticed me and asked what I wanted to sample. I tried a coffee whiskey from Harrisburg and decided right away that was the perfect gift for my dad. She asked me about his preferences and was able to lead me to another spirit that I felt he would enjoy. I even found a bottle of bourbon barrel aged PA maple syrup to round out the gift basket. If you are fond of localish (statewide) spirits, stop in for a fun and educational experience!

Alan L.

Yelp
A great place to visit and learn. We were walking in the Strip and noticed their store. When you first walk in, you are presented with an overwhelming number of unfamiliar spirits. After a minute or two you start to navigate through the shelves, with the helpful guidance of a salesperson if you like. You may taste any spirit, so you know that you will like what you purchase. All of the spirits in the store are produced in Pennsylvania.

Spot O.

Yelp
Emailed these guys before heading to town and received a very prompt, positive, and helpful response. Their selection will not disappoint

D Scott J.

Yelp
What a wonderful find. Zach was great and the tastings were free which is a great way to find some different tastes that meet your liking. Ended up buying 6 bottles that were really diverse. Looking forward to our next visit. Thx Zach. U da man!

Michelle C.

Yelp
Super cool store and concept! Pennsylvania Libations is exactly what it sounds like - a shop that features spirits from PA-based distilleries. In the back is a tasting counter where you can sample the wares. I was loving a coconut rum that was open for sampling on the day of my visit. Also in the back of the store is a selection of local sodas with really interesting flavors. Great idea for a store! I'd love to see something like this in Philadelphia.

renee r.

Yelp
I wanted to write a review about 1700 Penn which is affiliated with PA Libations. The sense is very chill and adult. You can bring children for some good wine & beer. The food is yummy as well... but what tops it off is the jazz music !! They are definitely doing a great job during this time of challenge !

Sara S.

Yelp
Very good selection. I was sad there was no wine but the young girl there explained what they had in the store as it was not a regular liquor store. They usually have tastings but due to the virus issue, that was not available. So many options to choose from! "Potato" vodka, "Leek" vodka, different whiskeys, bourbon, brandy etc.. all of them from different parts of PA!!! No wonder they have tastings! We got the "Potato" vodka, loved it! And definitely affordable. Not NYC prices! Will go back again

Lori P.

Yelp
We love checking out local places and while visiting Pittsburgh's Strip District last Saturday, we stopped in to check out the offerings. Pretty impressive place with lots of varieties of PA libations! My husband wanted to try some so we went back to do a tasting. The employee who assisted us must have had a bad morning or something because she was not pleasant with us. So much so, that I just walked away from the tasting before it even got started. However, my husband put up with it and went through with the tasting. Worth checking out if you're nearby and have an interest.

Christian C.

Yelp
It's very refreshing to find a non-state run liquor store in Pennsylvania! As soon as I walked through the door, I was greeted with a friendly smile and offer to sample any of their products. They have a pretty large selection of spirits made in Pennsylvania and you are able to try before you buy! One of my favorite products that they carry is Liberty Pole Spirits, especially their Peated Bourbon and Bourbon Cream. Stop in if you are down in the Strip District and support local distilleries!

Krista H.

Yelp
What a cool stop we found while wandering the strip district! We were out on a cold day and this was the perfect stop to warm up. Pennsylvania Libations is a small shop that specializes in PA based spirits. The bottles are lined up neatly on the shelves, by distillery with a nice description below each one. The staff is extremely helpful, they even do tastings! We did a very short tasting with a few things that stuck out to us. We love a good bourbon cream and our taster had us try a bourbon cream with an orange moonshine..she promised it would taste like a dreamsicle..and boy was she right..delicious! I appreciate their no pressure sales environment even though they offer a free tasting. Make sure you make this a stop when you're visiting!!

Shay M.

Yelp
Whoa!!!! What an absolutely cool place to stumble upon as we wafted down Penn Ave. in the famed Strip District of Pittsburgh. Located just near 21st street, between Yinzers and PNC Bank, this Craft Alcohol Boutique, liquor store would be an audacious understatement, specializes in award winning craft spirits that are distilled in the state of Pennsylvania. Pretty cool huh? Now I know that description sounds pretty luxurious so you're probably already thinking "how much will it cost me" right? Guess again. Not only are the bottles fairly priced, but you can sample different spirits to find your favorite craft product... before you buy... Uh say whaaat?!?!?! In other words, we had tastings of approximately 5-6 different spirits before selecting and purchasing our 3 bottles. Coming from California to see my Steelers, I hadn't the slightest expectation of purchasing even one, let alone 3, bottles of alcohol to be consumed AFTER my vacation. However, after the bartender (forgot to catch his name) taught us about some of the local distilleries and their "heads, hearts, and tails" liquor distillation processes, which not only gave me flashbacks of Organic Chemistry "Fractional Distillation" lab but in-turn also increased my yearning for booze, and let us sample some delicious libations, we had to buy. Ended up with two bottles for the house, Xplorer Moonshine Apple Pie, which tastes just like it sounds, and Maggie's Farm Spiced Rum, which is also very special. I don't usually prefer Rum unless it's really good, and this was excellent so we had to get a 2nd bottle to gift. The Xplorer even came with a free shot glass to boot. The staff was so pleasant, knowledgeable, and accommodating that they even wrapped our bottles in bubble wrap to ensure our newly purchased libations would sustain the rough and tumble journey through 3 airports back to California. The only thing that could have made this place better was a chair, a massage, and a finely rolled cigar. Thank you all for making our visit a special one. We shall be back again.

Caliope S.

Yelp
I drove through crap weather to get here and it's closed a half hour early. I can't stand flakey businesses. Thanks for nothing and for wasting my time. I won't be back.

Glenn S.

Yelp
So glad I ran into this store! The only liquor store in PA that's not a state store! The liquor is in order by the distillery all In Pennsylvania. And you can taste anything before you buy it!!! Win win win

Chris S.

Yelp
Great store with great service. Samples available of everything and all local liquors. Try before you buy. Unfortunately the craft whiskey movement means there are a lot of barely aged spirits out there and the quality of them is inconsistent. Here I got to weed out the bad from the good and ended up with so,e very good whiskey for a reasonable price.

Sarah H.

Yelp
This is a fantastic liquor store quite different than the typical ABC store in Pennsylvania. This place operates independently by focusing only on liquors that are produced in PA. The sales people are absolutely phenomenal and can provide a tasting of all of the items that they keep in stock. The gentleman working with us that day was able to provide the back stories on the ingredients and families that product their products. Prices are slightly higher as one would expect from boutique products and definitely worth it for what we purchased.

Karolyn A.

Yelp
The articles I read all talked up "The First Local Craft Spirits Store in PA", so OF COURSE I was intrigued! All Pennsylvania made liquors, and everything available to sample in store. Sounded stellar! I stopped in this past Sunday to see what this shop has to offer... and was not disappointed! Open just shy of 1 week, the friendly staff here seemed to already be in a groove and were more than willing to chat with me about the bottles I was curious about. The Big Spring Silver Lion Corn Whiskey especially spoke to me, and the most wonderful thing is, if you're curious, you can try anything. Because of this, I'll be going back for a bottle. Because I KNOW it's good! I also tried a sample cocktail: Tallyrand Cream Bourbon with coffee (Local as well, I want to say it was Commonplace Coffee, but I can't quite remember.) I'm kind of a sucker for Local... I mean, it's so powerful to be able to talk to and buy directly from the craftsmen/women that make your goods, or at least people who are a part of the process! I have a feeling I'll be back a lot more in the near future. What a cool place!

D H.

Yelp
I'm always on the lookout for local distilleries and liquors, so where better of a place than a shop dedicated to exactly that! The staff is so friendly and helpful and their selection is excellent. If you're looking for interesting whiskeys, rums, gins, vodkas, etc that are from PA this is the place to visit.

Don S.

Yelp
I normally don't do reviews at least bad ones but when I was there last week the fellow at the counter who offered me tasting was kind of unfriendly rushed and simply seemed angry I did make a purchase and the people ahead of me probably several $100 worth and he did not even want to give them any extra bags that they ask for told them that he needed bags for other customers he was not friendly to them either and they certainly seem to purchase a good amount of product I'm not sure if he has to pay for the bags or not but he doesn't give good customer service at all slightly long hair glasses a beard don't know his name but not friendly I'm not sure if he's like this all the time but he certainly needs to be aware of customers sorry for the review but thanks for listening

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Was in Pittsburgh to visit my son and had some time so stop in. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I sample three or four whiskeys and settled on one. The staff offered more samples but I was going to drive in 1 hour and resisted. I have a fine bourbon and scotch collection but rarely ever sample Pa whisky it was a delight. My only regret that Philadelphia does not have a store like this. I read only one bad review and the my experience with the staff was completely different. I also visited other distilleries but this store selection was great. Will stop there every time I go to Pittsburgh a must stop. Now that we are the Superbowl champions Philadelphia deserve a store here too.
