Peno Mediterranean Grill

We met an old friend here (on his recommendation) for a weekday lunch. My wife and our friend had wraps, while I had the Greek salad. All of us liked how fresh the ingredients were, and the hummus was especially well received. Our friend had it as a side with pita bread, while my wife had it on her chicken wrap. Service was friendly and efficient, and prices were what you would expect.

Delicious food and friendly staff! The lady at the counter really takes care of the customers like they are family ♥️

I've written a review on other sites and never posted one on Google. I love this place. I don't dine here often but when I do, I'm always satisfied. Today I had the original gryo sandwich. It was huge! I barely ate a third of it. Lots of gyro meat, tzatziki, onions (too many for me, so I took some out), tomatoes and shredded lettuce. It's the best gryo around the Wilmington area. The staff there is very friendly and two asked how I liked my lunch. That's really nice. I have plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Nice Mediterranean food place. The bowls were really good. But the wrap was overpowered by the pickled turnips. They added so much turnips that I couldn't enjoy the sauce or the falafel or the wrap. Every bite was just turnips. Grill cheese was ok. The feta cheese put off my kid. Should have told only provolone. But the rice and fries were a hit.

The food and atmosphere is absolutely brilliant, the jalapeño hummus was delicious. The workers are very friendly and happy to recommend if you are unsure. Very happy for them to have vegetarian options as well!

Peño was a good find during my visit to UNCW, Wilmington. Fair prices and fast service were their big pluses. While entering the restaurant, I was immediately greeted with friendly smiles from the staff. Ambience was casual with both indoor & outdoor seating area. Although the restaurant was fairly crowded, my order of falafel wrap with hummus & lemonade was ready within 20 minutes. Falafel was good but hummus with pita was my personal favorite. It was overall a very filling meal. I'd certainly visit them again if I'm in the neighborhood.

Stopped in at lunch and the place was very busy (good sign). The employees handled the volume of customers with speed and remained courteous. My lamb gyro was huge and delicious, and the spicy hummus was the best I've ever had. Great value, great place.

My friend and I met here for lunch. The food was fresh and delicious. The nice man who rang us up was kind, efficient and explained well what we aked about the menu. Very clean and plenty of seating. Great location by Soñé Pointe theqters. The prices were very reasonable. Definitely coming back.

New to town trying to find my new favorite go to places. The reviews pulled us in, but the food deliver!! The original Gyro was fantastic. Probably one of the best I've ever had. The chicken on my wife's salad was fantastic. My daughter gyro bowl with chicken was fantastic. We had the jalapeno hummus was great as well. Can't wait to visit again!! The staff was a joyful bunch as well.

This place is fantastic. Clean, efficient with great food and super friendly staff. We had gyros, salad and the jalapeño cilantro hummus. Hummus was not really that spicy but still tasted okay.

Super friendly staff. GPS doesn't take you here directly so it's facing the Main Street on the back side of home goods next to a noodle place. Food is authentic Lebanese and comes out to order so expect a small wait. There's outdoor seating. Christina was always smiling and oh so polite. They came by and asked how everything is. Very hospitable and generous portions. Would def go again

Went here on 1/8/25 around 2:00 pm and was greeted and welcomed upon arrival by 2 of the staff. Placed my order and watched my food being prepared which is nice. I went with an original gyro and fries. The best gyro I've had in several years! All the workers were awesome and very friendly. Restaurant was immaculately clean. I will most definitely be back and will bring the family with me next time. Great job!

The first time I tried the Gyro salad with lamb, I decided I could not go anywhere else. the amount was def. a tummy full of greatness. I eat at least once a month now! Peno....Amazing, fresh and just delicious!!!

The food was amazing and fresh, you get your moneys worth and everything is full of flavor! Too good that we forgot to take pics but it is definitely worth the visit!!!

This place is SO hot not miss. Tonight we ended up throwing away our delivery food because it was so bad. The chicken was so over cooked that it had absolutely no flavor and was inedible. The only part of the meal that was good was the hummus. I have come to the conclusion to not order an hour before they close. It's good from all day sitting there. My son had the Schwarma gyro and there was so much garlic sauce on it that he couldn't eat it. Even the meat on there was over cooked. So disappointed.

I haven't been to this location but I have used GrubHub for delivery. Food is good. Highly recommend the gyro platter. Spicy hummus is pretty damn good as well. Peno is a very good place to get your mediterranean food fix. Regarding the packaging of the food for delivery. Packaging was secure. Food came intact with plastic utensils and correct sides (dressing, etc.). Recommend.

I was not impressed. The hummus was a yellow mustard color and was not good. The gyro was not at all good. I would not at all order here again nor recommend this place to anyone else. Not a legit Mediterranean restaurant by far.

One of my favorite lunch spots for a quick and healthy meal. The hummus is delicious and the employees are wonderful!

Best Jalapeño cilantro hummus. Great portions, service was fast. Great flavors everywhere in my dish. Love loved the avocado tomatoes salad. Every bite was full of flavors. I'll definably go back.

It's ok to good and I would give it a 3.5 Food tastes good but not great. Ambience is poor. Service was not great. Order was not complete, but I believe that it might be just a one time off and they fixed it immediately. I would recommend it for take out or a quick lunch instead of a fast food place.

What an amazing meal at an amazing value. I got the traditional lamb gyro. When ordering they asked if I wanted spicy, and I was a put skeptical as most places just squirt Sriracha or their own home made version. The spice added another dimension of flavor and perfectly complimented the flavors. The sandwich was huge with a liberal amount of meat and tzatziki. A side of tomato salad as recommended was a perfect addition for a clean meal. I tried the grape leaves and they didn't disappoint either. My buddy got the Caribbean chicken wrap, and he was impressed with the size of the wrap, and how good it was. He said it reminded him of home made food he had while on a dive trip in the Caribbean many years ago. This place is a "chain" in the sense that they have multiple locations, but really has that mom and pop feel with the customer service and food quality. If you need a quick meal and don't want to sacrifice quality for dollars, this is the place.

This place is exactly what you would expect around a college campus. It is a great introduction to Mediterranean cuisine. It's not overly authentic, but tasty. Had the shawarma wrap. It's scratched the itch for the bold flavors I craved. Food came out quick and accurate. Everyone was pleasant. The restaurant is what you would expect for fast casual. It was clean and things were in order.

Biggest complaint is portion. Seems to have gotten smaller. I ordered a Greek salad it had about 3 onions slices(about a single ring) two wedges of tomato. 3 thin slices of cucumber a single olive and about a once of feta. Not really worth the 10 dollars. I paid for it.

It may be fast food but it's quality and you get a lot of food for your money! The platters are huge and if you have an Attractions book there are coupons in it for this place so it's an extra deal! The wait can be long during lunch time so order ahead of be prepared. Small outside area in the parking lot so not pretty but better than sitting inside where it can be loud when it's busy. Lots of great vegan and veggie options too.

My favorite spot to chill n eat gyros on Sunday. Lotsa sauces and lotsa good music. The staff there are super friendly.

I've been in search for a good Mediterranean restaurant, whether a fast food place or something more formal with table side service. Driving around looking for a place for lunch, I saw Peno Mediterranean Grill. I immediately parked my car and went inside. It's a fast food type joint, simply They have a great menu with Gyro sandwiches, salad bowls, wraps, and platters. At the counter, I ordered the Veggie Falafel bowl. I had a couple of sauces to go along with the bowl. What a delightful, colorful, and filling lunch I had. The falafel was crispy on the outside; the hummus was creamy - you can tell that it was fresh-made. Everything is fresh made! I loved the red turnips and the rest of the ingredients (lettuce, tomatoes, and tahini sauce). The salad was actually pretty big that I couldn't eat it all. I had it for leftovers with some grilled shrimp that I made. I thought the prices were very reasonable; service at the counter friendly. I'm a fan! I'll be back soon.

Food was good but not the best Mediterranean we have ever had. The hummus was a bit spicy but the tzakiki was really good. Salad was fresh. Chicken was thigh meat and a little over cooked.

Surprisingly good! Had the chicken swarma on gyro with extra garlic sauce. Staff was very nice and friendly. A pretty busy place on a Sunday evening but the food came out in 5 min. Highly recommend. Outdoor seating was nice for our dog but you can also sit indoors.

Fantastic food and service. Every time I order from these guys the order is 110% correct , the staff are friendly and the food is delicious. You guys are doing something right. Don't stop!

Just had Peño for the first time and to say I'm very impressed is an understatement. I had a spicy chicken Greek gyro and it was DELICIOUS (also a hefty portion-- worth every penny). The employees greeted me with a smile, immediately welcomed me and took my order, and had it out within minutes. What a wonderful experience! I will definitely be back and can't wait to try more :)

Stumbled across this spot when waiting for my computer to get fixed at Best Buy. Turned into a happy accident. I LOVE Mediterranean food and for a quick service spot, this one beats a burger or the other usual fare. Opted to try the tabouleh since it's a classic Med. salad you don't see everywhere. Classic, flavorful & briny + salty (which seems to be common of this salad). Reasonably fresh though soggy compared to a full service restaurant order. Falafel was crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Of all the falafel I've had I'd give it a B- ... not stellar but not bad. Subtle flavor that paired well with other selections. Hummus - great texture, mild flavor with drizzle of oil. Couldn't put my finger on whether it was an olive oil but if so, not a fresh flavor. Overall a decent side and quite tasty with the warm hummus. I definitely hope to find a full service Mediterranean spot to frequent but in a pinch when the craving strikes, I'd try this spot again. The bowls and platters options appeal to me as well as the choice of several classic, appealing sides. Can't speak to the meats as I went all veg this time but do plan to try a gyro bowl in the future.

Never again will I order from the Wilmington location. This upsets me because I truly love Peno! The Wilmington location has lost our online delivery order twice now. I ordered on PENO'S website and when the order did not show they told me someone from my company canceled the order, which did not happen. Then they told me I had to take it up with Uber because that is where I ordered from, again, Not True. Whomever I spoke with on the phone had no regarded to try to help, just push the blame on me, and they hung up on me three times. If I could choose No Stars I would.

Peño is good every time we visit. The food is fresh and delicious and the give you so much. The prices are great also!

The classic gyros are so big and delicious. It was hot and made fresh! Definitely worth the $9 because it's an entire meal-I never need to add a side. The cilantro sauce is a nice addition if you like cilantro. Great place for a quick meal.

I've tried multiple gyros from different businesses in Wilmington. Peno's Greek Gyro is the king of them all and reigns supreme. It's really just that simple. 5 STARS and quite possibly the best gyro I've ever tasted.

Stopped in with a friend to grab lunch one day. I ordered the chicken kabob platter with avocado salad and grape leaves and my friend ordered the classic gyro. Both orders came out fairly quickly and were warm and fresh. The restaurant was pretty busy, but not too crazy. While we were there several doordash people came in as well- there is a separate area for them to pick up food so it isn't in the way of regular ordering.

Ordered online for local pickup. Wasn't impressed. Could make it better myself. As my wife makes Greek food, perhaps my standards are higher. I wouldn't recommend this chain.

Really love all the healthy food options at this place and that you can get small quantities!!! Fresh food!

Order online and food will be ready in 20 min. I had 2 orders of the traditional gyro - I wanted both not spicy, but one accidentally came spicy. Luckily I was able to scrape off the topping. The gyro portions are huge. You really don't even need the side, and the food will keep you full for what feels like 2 whole meals! The kids meal kabob is so tasty. It's really juicy grilled chicken. But alas, not all toddlers enjoy some quality food.

We were offered Veggie Shawarma which was not in menu. Tasted great. Spicy Falafel Shawarma

This was suppose to be the Greek gyro sandwich the women behind the counter argued with me that ordered something different chicken had a brown tint lettuce tomato was not fresh I use to love this place I don't know what happened definitely won't return

Simply amazing. This place gets a 10/10 on food taste and quality as well as service. The staff goes above and beyond. They have a Caribbean vibe more than Mediterranean, but I must say it 100% suits them. Definitely recommend.

Just ate here for the first time. Why has it taken me this long! Flavors were exactly what I was looking for. Met the owner, working hard, and made sure to thank him and his team. I will definitely be back.

The appearance is deceiving. Some of the best food I've had down here. The lamb shawarma is to die from. I would come back here in a heartbeat. Took it to the beach for a fantastic beach lunch.

To update this review 1 year later.. the hummus is good, the falafel is good. This time I had the falafel bowl, with a side of hummus and pita. Did not realize the bowl itself was going to be smothered it hummus. In conclusion all I tasted was plain hummus. I still don't think I like this spot, but it happens to be my boyfriends favorite so I'll keep trying it because it makes him happy.

Massive gyros on warm fluffy pitas. Very surprised on large portions. Fresh veggies, great garlic sauce, nice staff.

I'm the COO of the company you hung on up multiple times of our staff administrator today. I sat quietly listening to the phone calls made to you about our missing orders disappearing. I don't even have words to describe how you spoke to my staff. She's in charge of ordering food for 8 people. No-one called and cancelled from our side folks, and telling us our order disappeared twice, and we need to call uber? You used uber, not us. We ordered from your website. This was horrible to treat anyone, or our staff that way, because everyone loves Peno', bud sadly we will never order for your business again. Not because errors were made, and not because we were somehow were the ones responsible for loosing 2 orders in delivery to us; (little strange to blame us or uber), but because your inability to speak to people properly and be a responsible human beings. "Carlos" weather you are the owner, manager, or just work there. You won't be successful to yourself or anyone as long as you behave like that.

Was craving some Mediterranean food for dinner so me and my boyfriend decided to order from Peño. What a great decision! We ordered two Greek gyros with lamb/beef and an order of classic hummus and pita over the phone. We headed right over after placing our order (about 5 mins from our house) it was packed, warm, and ready to go as soon as we got there! There was so much meat and toppings in the gyros we could hardly fold that bad boy to eat (hey, I'm not complaining!) it was delicious and tasted fresh. The hummus was spot and and we were so full and fulfilled by the end of the meal. We even had left overs! It's not the most authentic Greek food in the world but it's close and it's good! Looking forward to trying other menu items.
