Where to begin? This hotel is a gem in the Alps. For fans of Giacometti and Scheidegger, it's even a diamond. You're surrounded by art and culture. Already the book left on your bed at arrival by the hosts catapults you out of your daily routine and into a world of intellectual excellence. Try it. The lounge is located on the first floor, a place of tranquility, a meeting place for afternoon tea and discussions about art and culture, or simply for exchanging discoveries of the nearby rugged nature. Comfortable armchairs invite you to linger...not a place to pass through, but a place to rest.
The breakfast room and the separate restaurant salon in the evening are also stocked with hundreds of books. I could hide away here for a month without leaving the house. Good food is also provided. Solid, unpretentious, and creative dishes as promised are served (by the lovely staff), and besides is no shortage of luxury exceptions, such as the fantastic foie gras. On the first evening, I tried the three terrines, and the house terrine with its delicate liver flavor was the most impressive, alongside the also fantastic venison and duck varieties.
The rooms are spacious and well equipped, with art on the walls and classic furniture such as the Eileen Grey salon table. The balcony offers fantastic views. The bathroom has high-quality sanitary facilities. The beds are a little too soft for us, but we are particular in that regard.
The welcome and farewell were as warm as you could wish for. A small shop display tempts you to take home a few high-quality souvenirs for your home and kitchen.
We are completely convinced that these hosts don't just work here, they literally live hospitality. Thank you for the wonderful days.
