The People's Park Tavern - Review - London - The Infatuation

"Aside from its enormous, many-benched, many-covered-booth garden, the People’s Park Tavern is also opposite Well Street Common, and connected to Victoria Park. That’s a lot of green space. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

It's a very nice and big pub with lots of different seating places indise and outside. It's also dogs, and other pets friendly place, which is a huge bonus for me. Also, all the staff are very kind and polite. They also remember their regular customers, which is very nice of them.

One of my favourite East London pubs. I’m just disappointed paying £7.5 for such a small bowl of Padron peppers. They taste good, but oh gosh, there’s no way to justify this price :( PS. Photo is taken after eating a couple of peppers.

I love this pub! I always recommend it to friends who are in the area and want a lovely outdoor garden, especially for its access/view to Victoria Park. The staff are always a joy, and the last time I was there Make was gracious enough to charge ans mind my phone for me!

I paid 15 squids for a diabolical hot dog that looked like a punched lasagna. The red and yellow sauce that was slathered on was akin to Krakatoa exploding onto my table. But that’s not the worst. They had a “charge” that you couldn’t remove for their “pos” system that costs £1.45. I assume the chef was the same person who decided that number because it’s all a joke.

I love this pub! Right on the corner of Victoria Park, and so if you’re sat outside, you’re basically in the park! Nice drinks and good value for money. The outdoor area is huge and has space for different food vans. However the outdoor bit can get very noisy because they always book a DJ who isn’t amazing and plays through terrible speakers

Visited on a Wednesday evening, two of my main Lagers were off but found one I enjoyed. At £7 a pint I found it a little overpriced. We ordered food which was good when it finally arrived however it was busy and they lost control, people were getting the same food we ordered but had ordered a long time after us. The staff eventually apologised to us. Overall a great atmosphere but the food service spoiled our visit.

Really enjoyable and spacious pub. Good selection of beers and good food. The fried chicken burger was delicious. Prices are a bit high for pub food, but the atmosphere is delightful - particularly if the weather is sunny! Outside has a large beer garden and covered “greenhouse” area which remains warmer in the winter. Would recommend a visit!

Yelp
Great mix of every Sunday afternoon activity you can think of... crazy golf, outdoor heated huts, cocktails, BBQ, pinball, table football. So many seats outdoors and indoors there seems to be no worry about booking. Amazing frozen Margaritas but get a drink while you wait for them to be frozen... apparently not a popular choice because the freezer is switched off until someone asks for one... but well worth the wait. Lovely place to have a calm contemplative drink with a pal.

Yelp
Terrible, expensive food. Rude staff. Plastic glasses for wine, and the most overpriced slab of meat I've ever had. I paid £18.50 for a roast dinner. When it turned up, it was a tiny fatty slab of overcooked meat (see the picture). I decided to bring it up to the bar to ask if this was the normal portion of meat for an £18.50 roast dinner. I was told: "It's an expensive pub, what do you expect?" I was a bit shocked, and then also pointed out the flat Yorkshire pudding. Without apology, I was told: "If you don't like it, I'll give you a refund" I took the refund, and was glad I did so. My friends reported that the roast potatoes were rock hard, the meat was overcooked and fatty and that that I was lucky to have got my money back. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.

Yelp
A great local pub that never ceases to amaze/entertain me! What's not to love about a pub that has their own crazy golf course!! Their frozen margaritas during the summer are dangerously a delicious! There are an abundance of seats inside and out so there's always space. (If it's a Saturday evening and you want an inside table you might need to book) Staff are generally friendly and helpf

Yelp
Firstly, the best thing about this place is the garden!!! It opens directly on to Vicky park and it's huge. It has benches and booths all over so there is plenty of seating with funky little strip lights and 'light bulbs' hanging from the trees. There's also an undercover area, an open fire pit, a food hut and a sound system that goes into the booths to really bring the indoor/outdoor experience together. There's a micro brewery on site and although we didn't taste it, the roast looked amazing! We are definitely planning a pit stop here after a wander around the park on a lovely sunny day!

Yelp
PPT hosted us for a recent yelp event and I have to say I was mightily impressed! We spent the evening in their lovely beer garden, supping craft beers, and playing crazy golf at the Plonk course, which was all great, but for me the unexpected highlight was the food! This was no beige buffet! The sausage rolls had different fillings in them - (one had things like chorizo, and another one which was pork and apple - seriously wow), then we tried chicken wings, chicken breast pieces, chargrilled vegetables and haloumi, mini fish and chips, a board of cured meats, bruschettas - everything was excellent! Sure, it's a bit of a mission from anywhere, and I did get bitten by an insect on my ankle a few times - but it was so worth the trip! A perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon in London.

Yelp
The People's Tavern does everything it says on the tin, it's a tavern open for the community around it to go to. It's nothing special but on a Saturday night it has a relaxed atmosphere with lively music. We were in the upstairs room which you can reserve for functions. It's actually a great space and has a pool and football table which people are free to enjoy. There's also a bar and fridges full of different craft beers. Perfect for a social gathering or space to hold a medium sized event. Having only been here at night, for a party, I'm not sure what it's like in the day but it's location (right by Victoria Park) is perfect for a Sunday pint.

Yelp
Even if everything was awful, this place deserves a 5 because of the outdoor seating and WIMBLEDON madness. On two occasions I've come here to enjoy a pint of cider and some All England Club action! The atmosphere is incredible! Great selection of ale and food. I think the food is not as good as the Crown (nearby) but the large outdoor seating area is too good to pass in the summer months.

Yelp
Absolutely amazed by this Pub in the middle of Victoria Park. It's acually pretty huge, especially the outside area. There are different seating areas, with loads of couches, plants fairy lights and even heater for the colder days. It's super nice to have a Cider, not just in the summer! Especially noticed that this is apparently a place where families like to stop by with their little kids. Loved the atmosphere, will be back for sure!

Yelp
I just moved to the area and saw this place walking up to Victoria Park one day. Went in here last weekend to try some of their craft brew made on site with their own micro brewery. I tried the Amber Ale and Best which were both good and my boyfriend tried both IPA's which were ok. Expected them to be a bit more 'out there' in flavor just because they are their own brews but were pretty standard, still nice though! We also passed here today to see they have recently done up their garden bar with covered seating and a grass are with picnic style benches. This place is beautiful on a sunny day over looking the park. The indoor space is nice too with plenty of space for larger groups. Looking forward to going back and trying some food!

Yelp
If it wasn't for the fact that they have a great outdoor space and location, no one would come here. The service is terrible, as is the food. Have been several times to confirm that this is the case. Have been for a weekday lunch before and we were one of about 3 tables. After waiting over 40min for our sandwiches, I went to ask and they'd forgotten about our order. Seriously. Another time ordered the pork Sunday roast for two. The portion was meagre and the crackling chewy. Avoid if you can help it. What a wasted opportunity.

Yelp
Terrible service. Not sure the staff actually cared or knew how to serve a pint. Very disappointing for a pub with a "micro" brewery. I was told ale is not supposed to be carbonated. Thanks Sherlock.

Yelp
Good beer. Even better location. Go when it's summer time! Perched right by the park it's defo one of my go to pubs to road out in during the sunshine times.

Yelp
Man this meal was SO GOOD: Garlic, spinach and ricotta dumplings, roasted cauliflower, sultanas and pine nuts £10.50. Rich, creamy dumplings and the cauliflower had a lovely toasted tint. I could do with slightly less oil and larger portions but the meal is quite hearty. However, this is the second cheapest entree on the menu so keep in mind it's a pricier gastropub.

Yelp
I really liked the space, although it was pretty loud and smoky. Food was fine- chicken leg, people's burger, and pork chop. I will say the chicken had a very strong "chicken" and "salt" flavor, not much else above that.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible, waiting 20 minutes to find a seat. For 2 of our friends to order 2 burgers, and I go up to order food just after 7 for me and another individual to find out they had run out of food. Everything! No sorry,no smiles. So half my group ate and half my group didn't.

Yelp
We met friends here on Sunday after the Hackney Half Marathon for drinks and lunch. It was really busy but we'd reserved a table so had plenty of space and seats. The food was amazing, not the cheapest roast (around £15) but it was gorgeous and came with enormous yorkshire pudding! Wide range of drinks, busy bar, but then it was an unusually busy day! The selling point of this place however is the beer garden. It's enormous, has cute shade covered booths, tables in the sun, fake grass/astroturf areas to sit on the floor and an outside bar. Best beer garden have been to in ages! Way friendlier and accessible than the beer garden in Pub on the Park in London Fields-plus, it's right next to Victoria Park. We may have found a new local :)

Yelp
Nice bar with a good choice of own brew beers, fabulous beer garden with views out to Victoria Park. Tried the burgers from the outside burger bar, was OK at best, not brilliant, would like to try the actual menu next time to compare as I'm sure that will be better. Love the place itself, quite roomy inside. I didn't enjoy the craft beers that much, but I am choosy when it comes to beer. Great for the summer and a stroll around the park.

Yelp
We waited more than one hour and a half for an overpriced chicken that never arrived, we asked them what was going on and, apparently, the waiter at the bar took the order wrong and all our food got cancelled. We finally ended getting our money back and a few chips for our two children who were literally starving. Of course, they didn't offer voluntarily the chips, we had to beg for them! The garden is beautiful and nice, but the terrible and awful service makes it one of the worst places I've ever been in London. Never again.

Yelp
A nice pub with perhaps the best beer garden in London, backing onto Victoria Park. They have a great selection of beers & ciders some of which are brewed on site & the food is tasty & reasonably priced.
