The New site is huge!!! So much space, you’re not bumping into anyone. They have different meat cutting stations. No cross contamination of meats. Very nice, the store part is huge, different freezer sections, deli. They just opened on yesterday 10/27. They still have to stock up on some more things. I feel the prices are good but some things you can find cheaper. Like greens $1.69/ lb that’s too much. Smoked meats $2.29-$3.49 as well. Some prices were outrageous / I think they do this because a lot of people shop with there SNAP benefits. The EBT was down. Call before going people were leaving because the machine was down. LOTS OF PARKING

It's nice overall but the bathroom smells like urine and the chicken wings that's on sale $60 a case smh I always get the mess up box for some reason but this the last time I get a box of chicken wings from them again. Going to Mario's cause they haven't did wrong with they box of chicken so far and I only went to peoria because they sale was $5 cheaper but that's what I get huh trying to be cheap.

Beautiful set up very clean! Understaffed at Deli. Missing produce bags. Prices are fair.

Good selection of quality meats beef, chicken, pork and even some fish & seafood. You pick out whatever meat you need there yourself by the pound. The place is clean and they have a butcher station that has employees who will cut whatever you need. Be sure to bring a sweater as the store is a big refrigerator.

The new location on Roosevelt provides an even greater selection of fresh meats. Great job on the relocation.

Love the prices, freshness of all of the products. It's great having the option of having the butcher cut your meat how you want it. The only thing I would like for them to bring back is the fresh ground Italian sausage. Customer service is wonderful, love the new building.

Well this place is quite different than the old location? Much more space independent cutting counters for the type of meat you choose. Plenty of parking more check out lines.

Our neighbor talked about this place so we stopped in on a weekday afternoon. All of the meat is laid out in an open and cold room (Bring a jacket because it gets cold). Gloves are available for you to utilize to bag your proteins. They also have other non-traditional meats that might not be sold at the grocery store like smoked meats, turkey, pork feet, etc. We were also able to ask the butcher for beef bones. Outside of the meat room, there is also a small grocery store with some basic produce and pantry items. There is a parking lot available which is nice!

Terrible Baby Back ribs. Something I've never seen before. Double bone ribs. meat is tough after low and slow cooking for hours. Very disappointing. Been buying there for a long time, quality gone way down hill. will not waste my time again. Especially since they have the packages vacuumed sealed. Why do this to your customers?

If you want amazing prices and get lots of meat for the price you got to stop here yep they also have other stuff in the grocery store

I Love this place. I have been to many butcher shops but this one is my favorite. The butchers are very helpful and gave great advice.

I go to the store on Lake street to buy the pork spare ribs advertised at $2.29 per lb. That seems like a really decent price for the season. Once inside the store I find the ribs sprawled out on the table ,naked as the day they were born. The butcher was either in a rush or didn't know what he was doing because the ribs had a butchers cut running down the center of all the ribs on that table. The worst part of the butcher job is that they did the minimum on the trimming . Every last rib had at least 40 % of inedible and unusable meet on it. These ribs were 60% to 70% all fat . After you take them home and finish the job that the butch purposely half done you'd be left with way less than what you paid for. This Peoria Packaging/Meats store knows exactly how they are cheating the customer. I almost forgot to mention that the scales they have at various location in the store are totally inaccurate . I weighed my meat several times and they came out to be half the weight that the scale built in to the cash register had. When I weighed my meat on the manual scales on the meat floor they came out to be 7 pound but at the register they had doubled to more than 14 + pounds . This was the exact case for all three slabs that I took to the register for purchase. After the girl at the counter rung this meat up I found myself doing a double take when she explained in detail what I was being charged for in weight. As I said previously, I weighed my rib at the manual scales on the store floor(Measure twice, cut once). I was like WHAT THE FRICK is going on here. I asked the cashier again what the total price was and she again repeated this outrageous number. I did NOT argue with her I just told her politely I did not want the ribs. She looked at me almost shocked with her mouth wide open and a look of REALLY. I walked out the door promptly , got in my car and drove to THE WALMART Super Store in Hammond Indiana where I purchased 3 fully trimmed full spare rib slabs with the tips attached(not St. Louis styled) for less than $12.50 per slab. The quality of these Walmart ribs are also more than 100 % better than the ones at Peoria. Also, ALL the meat on the Walmart ribs are usable and edible . I only had to trim off a little flab, a small amount of fat(less than a ounce per slab) All I can suggest to you as a customer /shopper at any store is not to pay by pound for meats or other products sold by weight is fat and unusable and inedible parts. IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY.

The business is moving to a new location - significantly further away. Hopefully we'll "meat" again!

The selection is fantastic and the customer service is amazing. The space is clean and there is no order. I always buy my meat from here.

This place is amazing. Just remember to bring a jacket. It's a little cold in the meat area. I highly recommend this place. Great. Eat choices and great prices. We come from Indianapolis every month to come stock up our deep freezer. I love this meat market.

Got some chicken breast and strips steaks not too crowded i was in & out the cashier was nice. It's still small and tight inside the meat area.

Always has good chicken breast for 1.99 per LB But I would stay away from the steaks and beef products UNLESS you plan on slow cooking it. I know how to cook a steak but every time I buy a steak from here, New York, Tbone, Ribeeye, and cook it on the grill, stove/oven it is inedibly chewy. I have even tried making it rare and same thing. I have tried maybe 6 or 7 times. I personally think it's the quality of the beef. Slow cooking it always turns out fine, so I usually stock up on sirloin roast from here for whenever I plan on making slow cooked beef. But honestly it might not be worth the trip because you can find some good deals at local groceries on what is probably higher quality meat and stock up then. I wish they would display the grade of the meat they are selling. I would pay higher prices for better meat for certain cuts, like steaks!

I finally emptied out my freezer and it was time restock. Steak, pork cube steak, pork cutlet, breakfast sausage and chicken were some of the fresh products I purchased. Packaged items included lunch meat, hot dogs, polish sausage and corn beef. I highly recommend Peoria Meats !

All types of meat is sold here. Chicken, beef, pork, lamb, etc. Prices are reasonable. They sell chicken, legs and thighs, in 20 pound bundles for cheap. I am always thrilled with my purchases. Meat is fresh and tasty.

Great selection and really great prices! Boneless skinless chicken breasts for $2.79/lb, pork tenderloin for $2.99/lb, butterfly pork chops and brats for $$2.49/lb, and T-BONE STEAK for $3.99/lb!! I stocked way up and it made so many meal portions (12oz each) for me and my husband. I'll be back in a few months when our supplies run out

One of the few remaining meat markets in the West Loop / Meatpacking district. This is the place to be if you're looking to get large slabs of meat. Impressive costs for tomahawk steaks or slabs of ribs for a good price. Quality wise, it's fairly supermarket level, no fine marbling or asking the butcher what he recommends, this here is put on a pair of gloves and grab it yourself. I visited on a Monday pre-Christmas afternoon and there is a line out the door. Fortunately, the wait isn't too bad and it was much needed since it was fairly crowded in a narrow space with a cart. Personally for me, I'll pick up a shopping basket to be a bit more nimble. There's also another section for the traditional deli and pantry items which are higher costs. Anyway, you're here for one reason and that's meat. Free parking lot makes for easy access.

Today I felt discriminated against and I can't even put my finger on why I was called out. I went into the market, as usual, to get fish and to have it cut. I was told by the butcher that I needed to pay for the meat before getting it cut and was given the reason "the manager said so." When I got to the register I asked the lady why I needed to pay before getting it cut, because the price depends on the weight. The lady at the register said "I don't know," laughed and asked a man who seemed like the manager. There was somewhat of a language barrier, but once he figured out my question his response was on the lines of I'm being penalized for what other people have done in the past. I'm already pissed because I literally see people in line with their meat cut and paying. I pay for my fish and go back to the butcher, and he has the nerve to ask me "Did you pay?" like I just walked to the other section, stood there for 5 minutes and just came back. I should've just walked out right then and there, but I started talking to other people and found out no one else had to pay before getting their meat cut. The butcher didn't even give me all of the meat when he cut it! SO basically, I paid for meat that was previously weighed and didn't get what I paid for. I've always gotten my meat cut before buying it because you pay for what you're actually getting! Won't be visiting ever again.

It's a meat packing plant. That pretty much sums it up. Tables of cuts of meat all over the room. It was clean and the product was fresh. But it smelled like a slaughterhouse. You put on gloves and bag your own. They do have a small store front with grocery items, but that's not what I would go here for. Sorry no pictures. I couldn't bring myself to worry with pictures of tables of raw meat.

I was happy when I moved to NYC that the seafood was cheap and excellent when you shopped in Chinatown. Being in Chicago which (I had no idea until I moved here) is the beef/pork mecca of the US. A vast majority of the meat is processed here in Chi-town and shipped all across the USA. Here you walk into a refrigerated room and can pick from any cut of meat your heart desires and I'm sure if you can't find it here, they'll get it for you. The selection and prices are exceptional. They even have two walls of spices/rubs and sauces you can pick up on your way out. Great for large parties or if you wanna get something for your family cookout. Glad I found this place.

The fish at this location is absolutely fresh. Catfish is nicely cut thin, just The way I like it. have this fish shipped to me all the way to California by my mother-in-law that lives in Milwaukee. It takes about four days via UPS .. it arrives nicely Packed with try ice and it's fresh when I receive it. Absolutely Delicious!!!

Come prepared, butcher shop is really cold. Love that you are able to pick your cuts of meats. Butcher shop is very affordable. They have tons of other products as well. Products include Vienna Beef products, gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, pickles, ham, bread, seasonings, chips, and a small fruit and veggie section. The staff is really friendly, and can also cut your meat if you ask them.

Very very cold insideso must bring your coat, otherwise you wil freeze to die in a few minutes. We bought beef stew meat and pork chop both was very good and unbelievably cheap price .

Meat doesn't even look "choice" - probably "select" grade which makes it lower than Jewel-Osco butcher. Why do people think this is a good deal when you're getting "dog food" grade steaks? During COVID they pack too many people in there. Masks under noses and nobody respects distances.

I would say sometimes it's the best to smell like meat all over in order to get good deals for you all carnivores! Enter the "Peoria Packing Butcher Shop." I like this place, and you're right: my sensory is temporarily numbed because of the copious amount of meat I'm surrounded by, but the money I save from buying the meat here can get me an extra bottle of air refresher for sure. In other words, this meat shop is really meaty. You help yourself on grabbing the meat you want to purchase with a pair of disposable gloves. The prices are clearly listed and they were rung correctly upon checkout. I know some Yelpers have experienced price discrepancies and were over-charged, yet I didn't have any trouble whatsoever. I found deals on their lamb chops; they were $4.99/lb. and I got almost four (4) pounds worth of them. Most lamb products I have seen in grocery stores throughout Chicagoland are around 7 or 8 bucks per pound. With that being said, I can have lambs a little more often without feeling B-ROKE! There's a butchering station in the back of store. I didn't need the guys to cut off the meat. I guess they can help break apart the ribs or bones. If I ever need it, I will definitely utilize the service in the future. So the first part of the shop is the giant freezer of raw meat (pork, beef, chicken, frozen seafood, sausages, and etc.). Anyway, the list isn't exhaustive. The second part, on the other hand, is the stuff that goes with the meat: spices, veggies, frozen meat, deli meat, and groceries in general. I skipped the latter portion rather quickly since I already stocked non-meat items in the fridge. The checkout was efficient, in spite of being pretty crowded in the early Sunday afternoon (and the Bears made it to the playoffs). During our trip I had to maneuver the cart fairly carefully to avoid unnecessary collisions. However, for the most part, patrons were courteous and we were able get through each aisle. One last thing to mention: they do charge bags ($0.07/bag) even though many meat shops in the city sometimes include free bags to prevent meat drips. In addition, the young lady at the register asked for my ID with the credit card purchase. Therefore, bring an ID, just in case.

Sexual and Racial Harassment During my last two visits, I was harassed by the same male employee. As he restocked shelves, he blocked my way and approached me, making racist and sexual comments, including, "are you Korean or Chinese?", "you are so beautiful and will never be alone", "do you have a boyfriend?", etc. I was shocked and scared, so I tried to ignore him and walk away. But he followed me and yelled loudly "hey" and "yo". I felt extremely unsafe and disturbed with my experience as this has happened repeatedly. I imagine that I'm not the only one who has had to deal with this abuse. I hope managers will take some actions and would be happy to discuss with them further.

Not a very COVID-safe place. Many customers have their masks under their noses. The aisles are too narrow. And I saw an employee (I think the manager) gathering dirty shopping carts from the parking lot and then returning to the store to touch food with the same gloves. The prices really aren't that good anyway. The low prices Ribeye is "Select" grade. Choice grade is $15/lb. Chicken wings are $3.49/lb. And the fish is from China (at least they let you know before you buy!).

So excited I finally got to try this butcher out ! I came here today *Sunday early morning it was busy but not annoyingly busy. Parking was free and spacious I grabbed a cart on my way in Be sure to wear your coat as the whole store is cold like a cooler :) You put on plastic gloves to pick your meats out and you put them in thick plastic bags I had my husband picking the meats up while I held the bag They have almost everything in the store. We picked up packages of bacon (bacon also comes loose if you like) Hot dogs Box of Vienna burgers Rib eye steak 6.99/lb Strip loin steak 5.99/lb Sirloin roast Tbone steak Ribs (membrane is attached) Breaded frozen shrimp $2.99 a bag I have attached a photo of my receipt for accurate pricing Chicken was a great deal we got 6 massive boneless chicken breasts for just over 11 dollars. They also have a selection of pork and sausage and seafood. In the side door you can walk through with your cart to pay they have a store with random grocery items and a deli that side is a tad pricey so we just stuck with the meat. Right before the checkouts are freezer bags for just over 1 dollar ! And Tin trays for cheap ! Perfect for a butcher shop. I will definitely return. This place is great for summer bbq!

One of the best butcher shop I've ever been. You can find everything here, from the normal kind like pork, beef to other types of meat that sometimes you can't find somewhere else. The meat are fresh, and no weird smell. Highly recommend!!

I tried to get some beef ribs today. I arrived at 9am. No COVID requirements on the store front, but the front door was locked. People were obviously shopping. Eventually I got the attention of an employee who gruffly dragged me back to the front door. "Can I HELP you, sir?" he continued to yell "Can I HELP you?" - embarrassed that his shop doesn't have COVID provisions. He pushed the door open manually and yelled to me about their process to scan everyone and make sure they sprayed their hands with the foot juice.. Okay, cool! I have no problem with that. But he told me to "Hold Still" and "Stay Calm!" while he scanned my body temperature. "I'm just looking to buy some meat" I told him. He eventually let me into his kingdom. But the meat was so gross, pedestrian, and grey - I wouldn't buy a thing. Why would I enter a place like this for rotting pork an beef? Never again!

Top Notch Products. It's very cold but I would recommend this Business... very Fresh Food.

I've been coming here for years to get most of my meat. First-- because Covid-19 is a real and pressing issue in our community. They have a pretty solid system in place and it made me feel very comfortable. (social distanced line clearly marked outside, they took peoples temperatures, sanitizer before you walk in, etc.) Secondly, the prices are unreal. Can you get better quality meats at some of the local artisan butchers (of course, and I go to those for key things all the time) but for your standard cuts-- the price to value ratio is damn near perfect. I have purchased everything from tomahawk steaks to pounds and pounds of chicken breast and I've never had anything that was even a little 'meh'. Yes, you'll need to wear gloves and yes it can be a little jarring grabbing a handful of chicken breasts and tossing them in the bag, but you get over it quickly when you realize its under 2 dollars a pound for that chicken vs 5 or so at Mariano's.

Wowzers... With summer basically here, I think I have found my new meat shop for all that summer time grilling that's about to go down. Stumbled on this one while wondering around West Loop. First thing is first... Bring a car! Prices are so nice you'll definitely buy pounds and pounds of meat while you're here. They got just about everything from all cuts of pork, to beef, chicken, and even some whole fish options. Think basically a whole sale market but specially just for meat. You serve yourself buy throwing on some plastic gloves and grabbing/packing the meats you want. In addition, they also have some fresh veggies and spices in the non-refrigerated area just before you check out. I'll definitely be back for this one. 'Til next time, cheers! 131/365

Oh yeah, we're going back. The prevailing opinion before the pandemic was that this place is sometimes too popular for its own good, with wall-to-wall people breathing on meats. BUT! We went on an afternoon, stood outside about four minutes, and were let into a meat wonderland. We got 2x NY Strip and 2x T-bone and a package of hot links for $38. The prices we saw were great; we'd have bought more, but have little room in the freezer for all of what we now want to get. Great prices, an eye towards safety, and a ton of variety. Yeah, we're going back. Damn shame we can't/won't entertain for a while, as buying a bulk of chicken or ground turkey or lamb would be a great idea, but c'est la vie.

Stood in line outdoors for 15 minutes. Line never moved. Went home. Call me when I can come in.

This place is a carnivore's dream. You walk into a giant refrigerator (make sure you bring a coat in the summer) and the entire first room is filled with just about every type of meat imaginable. You throw on some plastic gloves, pick up the unwrapped meat that you need, bring it back to the back butcher if you need it cut, and throw it in a plastic bag. It's all entirely self service until you get to the register and, somehow, the cashiers are magically able to identify every single unlabeled cut of meat you bring them. There is a large parking lot which means it's easy to bring home the 50lbs of ribs you inevitably purchase bc, at these prices, you can totally afford to. You'll figure out where to store it all later. Only downsides to me are a) they don't have filet mignons (my #1 type of steak) and b) there should probably be some more signs reminding people about proper glove protocol. I saw a lot of people bagging their meat, then pushing their carts with the gloves still on, then grabbing an entirely different type of meat. I'm not sure how often the carts are disinfected, but hopefully it's often! I may have missed them, but it would be nice if there were disinfectant wipes where you pick up the carts--even if it's just for piece of mind!

This is a candy store, if the candy at some point was part of a pig. Pro tip: their house made hot links are amazing. I smoke them for about 2 hours at 225 with some apple and hickory woods, they get this beautiful red color and they are basically hard drugs in pigmeat form.

Hands down, my favorite butcher shop in the city! Large parking lot right in front of the building is super convenient, while being right off Lake St near Ogden Ave makes it a breeze to get there. Peoria is half open-air self-serve meat, fish, and poultry with live butcher counter & half small grocery. When you walk in, it's raw carnage everywhere you look (NOT for the faint of heart or squeamish!) They provide gloves and bags and scoops and scales- you pick and pack what you want and keep moving. It's basically a giant cooler so be prepared & bring a jacket for extended shopping! The staff is always tremendously helpful and the owners/managers are incredibly customer service focused. To check out or keep shopping, enter the 2nd half in the next room to visit the grocery. There are dried goods like spices & sauces (lots of hot sauces!) A small produce area with some essentials, coolers with eggs, biscuits (and more) then also several freezers with veggies, prepared meals, and frozen meats. Finally, you'll see a deli counter & the checkout lanes! Great prices and selection, and really fantastically swell people.

Best place to buy meat on a budget. Been going here for a year and it has saved me lots of money.

Ummmmm I can't boast enough about this place!! I live right down the street and have this place every day and failed to go. I decided I need to start putting my grill to work so decided to stop by. I was in meat HEAVEN! Everyone was super nice and helpful and you can find any kind of pork/beef/chicken product here. They also have a ton of packaged and unpackaged sausage/brats/bacon/hamburger song worth a few cuts of lamb. You get to wear gloves and pick your own meats which is pretty fun. I got 4 thick t-bone steaks for $17! Even the attached grocery store is super affordable...especially the spices. If you need meat you must go here. I'll definitely be back many times.

The amount of meat I got for as much as I spent definitely can't be beat. I walked out of here with bunch of sausages, a big pork roast and about 3 steaks for $30 bucks. The biggest annoyance I had here was the crowd. People going this way, people going that way. People saying excuse me to get around me while I'm standing there waiting for someone else to move. Parents not watching their children while they put their hands all over the meats. I've never been so crammed and uncomfortable while shopping. I will say however it's probably my fault for going on a Saturday afternoon, but experiences are experiences. I'll definitely be back since the quality and prices of the meats were excellent. I also realize why this place can be a madhouse which is why I'll have to pick a different time to go next time.

This place has plenty of product and great prices. Unfortunately I will be looking for another source to make my purchases only because the City of Chicago has made it impossible to get to the store with Lake St closed. I drove around for 20 minutes trying to find a way to get to their parking lot with no luck. Every F****ing street is closed from north,south,east and west. I wasn't going to walk 3-4 blocks carrying 50# of meat. This was today June 23rd. So I wont be going back until the winter season and hopefully this will be over. It has to be killing your business.

Great Great place for meats. Been here a few times and prices are great. Went today and ny strip steaks were 2.99/ lb. Amazing !!! T-bones were 3.99/lb. Wow!! Love the fact that you choose and bag what steaks you want. Only drawback is the checkout lines. When its busy in there the lines just seem really slow. An express lane would be great . other than that , place is great.

This is a very interesting place, my sister took me here because she was doing a catering job and needed to get some meat, it is jampacked with people with not a lot of room to walk around, one side is just loose meat piled High on the tables and there are gloves and bags to throw the meat into, it doesn't seem very sanitary to me that is why I am giving this place three stars, the meet is out for anyone to touch and any type of bugs from the outside I would imagine you could come in in just land on the meat, The other side of the building is where you pay where it's somewhat of a grocery store, I will let the pictures show you what the place looks like, in regards to pricing 40 pound boxes of chicken breast cost roughly about $59 dollars.. my sister bought 60 pounds of chicken breast and 10 pounds of ground meat, and the bill came to about $110 you do the math do you think that's a good deal? But again like I always say that's just my opinion go check it out for yourself.
