On Campus Corner for decades, Pepe Delgado’s sticks to from-scratch, Mexico-rooted cooking—no shortcuts. Praised by Oklahoma Gazette and featured by TravelOK, it’s where locals point visitors for honest plates like puerco en salsa verde and rajitas en salsa chipotle.

04/18/2025: This place is nice. It was not busy when I ate here. Nice staff and the wait was sub 10 minutes. I got the beef fajitas and they tasted very very good. It came with beans and rice and peppers and some tortillas. I got regular red salsa with it as that’s what I’m accustomed to. Rated 4 stars due to a lack of a military discount but overall great.

Complete mess of a queisidalla . My first time in and its horrible.. how do you mess up this simple food item? DO NOT GO ... TERRIBLE SERVICE AND FOOD !

Visiting from Galveston, Texas and stopped in at Pepe's for lunch. Absolutely fabulous! 4 Salsas and each are grand, delighted in the super Nachos and my son had the Quesadilla Nortenoños. Homemade tortilla was scrumptious.

Best Mexican in town for taste and consistency. Portions generous. Prices reasonable. Fast service. Laid back atmosphere. Great bar staff. Been coming here 15 years and have had only a few subpar experiences. My favorite restaurant in town. Best nachos hands down. Nowhere else comes close. Enchiladas are awesome.

Google
Had a great dinner here with in town for a conference. Very friendly staff with great service. I had a chicken burrito with chips and salsa. All in all a good meal. My favorite salsa was the salsa verde. GREAT flavor!! I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in town.

Google
Great Mexican restaurant with a hometown feel! We sat at the bar and the bartender greeted many customers by name…that’s always a good sign. We started out with Chips and Guacamole and the portion was huge! We didn’t think there was a whole lot of flavor to the guacamole…tasted like a mashed up avocado…not much in the way of seasoning. We both enjoyed our dinners though: I got the #18 Rajitas Picante and loved the spice! Hubby got #12 Chicken Enchiladas and said they were good but like the spice of mine. Got a couple of tasty margaritas from Jeff at the bar! Would definitely try again!

Google
The is good, has flavor, but can be improve. Good place for quick lunch. Very friendly staff. You walk in and place your order like a fast food place and then the server brings this to your table. Very reasonable prices.

Michael Wood

Google
Super chill yet deliciously amazing authentic Mexican food right across the street from OU campus. Counter top ordering, and very very sizable portions with even better price points. Quite an extensive selection of tequila too! Make sure you visit this place for lunch/dinner or a drink!

Yelp
In my opinion, this is the best Mexican food restaurant in Oklahoma, and perhaps top ten in the US. These guys get it. The ingredients are always, always the freshest and the flavors of their marinades and sauces are OFF THE HOOK. You want molé? They have the best. You want pollo adobado? They have it and it will blow your mind. Huarache? Yep, the best again. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. They also have a full bar and their own craft beer. If you haven't been, go, RIGHT NOW!!!!

Yelp
I love Mexican food. Great Mexican food is a great joy. Bad Mexican food is like eating hot garbage out of a dumpster fire. This Mexican food is neither. It's utterly unremarkable, flavorless boring crap. But there's a twist at the end of this review. We got the #1 menu item - 2 tacos. I got beef, my wife got pork. They should not have been number 1 because they were definitely number 2, if you know what I mean. The beef was not seasoned. No salt. No pepper. Nothing. And it was overcooked. The pork actually had some seasoning on it, and that tasted good but that poor pig was dry and overcooked. Now, a great way to tell if a Mexican restaurant is any good is by their chips. Nope. Their chips suck. They probably buy them in huge bags instead of making them, and they're not even as good as Tostitos. Total crap. Too lazy to make chips explains why they're too lazy to make good meat for their tacos. But wait! The Verde salsa is excellent! I really liked it! Suddenly something could bring life to my lifeless, flavorless beef tacos. And it might....might salvage the crappy chips. It helped - a lot! We managed to wash down the sawdust.... Errrr tacos with some soda and iced tea and it was time to go. That's when I saw it .... We had sat in their back room. Down a hallway past the kitchen and the restrooms. As I walked out I saw the red and green salsas in large tubs - uncovered - sitting on a cart in the hall directly outside the restroom doors. This appeared to be their customary storage solution for their salsa. Nasty. Also it was like $15 for 1 flavorless #1 (#2) tacos. There is a Fuzzy's tacos in town. It tastes better, it's a better price and they don't store the salsa next to the toilets. Go figure.

Yelp
Worst Mexican Food Ever and Experience !!! You order at the front they don't even have Queso , food is over priced not Good at all got fajitas everything was water down asked for no sour cream it was all over it !!! no server had to get my own drink , still tipped cashier . Will Not be coming back.

Don P.

Yelp
Mexican food that has no spice the hot sauce you could put on spaghetti. You get two flower tortillas and then they are $1.25 a piece will not be back.

Yelp
Food was authentic and so flavorful! Delicious to the last bite! Large portions, could not finish! Order food, make your drink and sit down. Self service and there was a line of course but moved fairly quick. Took about 20min for the food but it was worth it. Chips and salsa are not complimentary but that's the new norm huh. They stayed packed the entire time and full bar for cocktail time as well. Large selection of Tequila! Food servers are nice and pleasant and they move fast.

Yelp
The Quesadilla Nortena is amazing! One of the best places to get a quesadillas have ever had. Highly recommend this restaurant for the quality, quantity, and price. The restaurant is mostly "self-serve" as you order at the counter and refill your own beverages, but it gets busy so it's actually nice to be able to just got get what you need when you need it. The ambiance is good and there's a lot of room is you need a corner to study while you eat, meet with a group, or find a spot with some friends. Always have a great experience here.

Yelp
Great Mexican food. Ordered the chips and salsa after reading the reviews. It came with 4 types of salsa. All very good and fresh. I ordered a chicken quesadilla it was surprisingly very good. Lots of cheese and the tortilla was grilled perfectly. Definitely recommend this place and would return again.

Yelp
Favorite restaurant in Norman! #19 chipotle rajitaz and super nachos are the best!!! Also, the thing is amazing and 100% sharable. Don't forget a side of fried jalapeno!

Kenni M.

Yelp
If I could give less than one star, I would. I have had every kind of Mexican food you can imagine. Tex-mex, authentic, in Mexico itself. Trust me when I say, this is the worst meal I have ever had. The guacamole is basically avocados and lime, no seasoning or anything. The rice has no seasoning. The enchiladas with mole weren't bad, but definitely left something to be desired. My husband ordered fajitas, he only received two tortillas. Two!!! Not to mention the meat was tough and there was so much extra stuff on his plate (probably to mask the inferiority of the fajitas) that he couldn't even make them like he wanted. Also, someone must be lactose intolerant because there was no cheese of any shape or form unless you specially order it. Eat here if you must, but I 10/10 don't recommend it.
google avatar

Hydration S.

Yelp
Just okay in my opinion. The service was good and the food was decent but it was nothing special in my opinion. The serving sizes were large. I liked the chips and the chicken fajitas were tasty too. The soda machine was broken and sprayed out when you tried to use it. I liked one of the salsas, but the rest weren't for me. Overall, it was good, but not a must have in my opinion.
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
Delicious unique Mexican food and not the usual Tex-Mex. Laid back vibe with a nice bar. Always good service and solid bartenders. Always a fun choice when on campus corner.
google avatar

Kili G.

Yelp
The ambience was pretty good but overall give it a 2/5. Food was basic in my opinion, it's a pretty good place to have a beer, shot and a quick bite to eat. Service was good - everyone was attentive and helpful.

K J.

Yelp
Great food and the service is usually good. The margaritas are quite good too. I enjoy trying out the specials when they have them. Been here for a couple birthdays too and it's always a good time.

Sandy M.

Yelp
1. This is NOT Tex-Mex. 2. This IS authentic southern Mexican--and ALWAYS DELICIOUS! The specials are great. Puerco Verde stew is awesome and tender; fajitas are great; they make my favorite cheese chile relleno of anywhere I've tried; the chicken tortilla soup is The Best for winter fare; must I say more? These are only a few of the things we've tried and enjoyed. The portions are huge, so DH and I share a meal along with chips and salsa. The chips are the best of anywhere in town--thin and crisp and not oily. We LOVE this place!

Yelp
This is by far the best Mexican restaurant in Norman. It still doesn't offer a ton of healthy options but their wet burrito (Burrito Loco) is divine with your choice of meat, rice, beans, veggies and it's topped with ranchero sauce, avocado sauce and sour cream. The staff is really friendly and accommodating and this location is so much nicer than their old spot on Campus Corner. They even have a full bar where you can watch games or just chill and have a drink.

Jackson F.

Yelp
Went here with my family and when we I say this was probably the worst Mexican food I have ever had I mean it. Fajitas were not only undercooked but super chewy and to my belief weren't even real meat. Didn't have queso at a Mexican restaurant which is crazy. The service brought me the wrong meal and took a very long time. Ambience was about the only thing not awful. Woudl never recommend this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Good service, terrible food. Guacamole was bland, as were the shrimp fajitas and chicken tacos. We will not be returning.

Peter B.

Yelp
Pepe Delgado's is a Norman institution - a relaxed atmosphere with wonderful food. The menu, from central and southern Mexico, is designed by the owner, who also closely supervises the kitchen. Everything is fresh every day, including the green, ranchero, or red chile salsas, one of which accompanies each dish. They make a delicious mole for the Enchiladas Oaxaca. Most dishes offer a choice of fillings: cheese, chicken, pork or beef. They also do reliably good fish tacos. There are specials every day, which also sometimes include fish. And there is an extensive vegetarian menu in addition to the cheese options in the main menu. Last, the bar supplies draft beer, including the locally brewed Pepe's Lager (recommended, especially in summer) together with an epic array of Mexican spirits. My kids grew up eating at Pepe's, and I still eat there at least once a week.

Yelp
Let's start with portions. 22 years ago, I couldn't finish the burritos, over two meals. Today, I ordered two tacos. Pepe Delgado's 1, Peace 0. Happily taking leftovers as late night nachos. But who cares how generous bad food is? This is solid Mexican with the slightest tip of the hat to Tex. Fresh not overly heavy (oily), perfect amount of cilantro. Lunch can be busy and slow, bring some good attitude.

Sheila M.

Yelp
Food is fantastic! Just love the chili Relleno and burritos. Have been coming here since they opened.
google avatar

Shane W.

Yelp
Came in for some Mexican food. I'd say everything was good, big servings and the staff was very helpful. The four stars represent a solid meal but nothing exceptional. I'm really not sure how to compare this place against other Mexican restaurants in the area. Overall, big plates and good food.

Deborah R.

Yelp
Extremely graciously owner to University of Tennessee fans who were visiting his business.

Ryan M.

Yelp
The food overall was very bland and not flavorful at all, I expected much more flavor and I was very disappointed when I ate the food, and the complimentary food that you might expect was not provided, so I left feeling very unsatisfied, especially for the price I paid, considering the prices displayed are not representative of the actual cost, and the staff was also fairly aggressive and borderline rude so I would never go back again!
google avatar

Oliver E.

Yelp
Burnt chips on my meat lacking beef super nacho! They substitute potatoes for refried beans without even asking. Not what we expected . We asked to speak to a manager, the Waiter spoke to a manager and was told to offer a salad or more rice. This place did not even have the respect to have a Mgr come to the table. Never again.
google avatar

Johnny J.

Yelp
Amazing food , service was perfect and tequila list was the absolute best Tortilla Chips
google avatar

Beth M.

Yelp
The best real-deal Mexican food in Norman! If you're looking for bottomless chips and queso, this isn't the place, but give it a go for delicious guacamole and salsas, and you won't regret it. The tortilla chips are thick and well-seasoned, and each salsa (you get 4 different salsas with the appetizer for just $3.25) is unique and fresh. In this casual staple on campus corner, you order at the counter, and they deliver your food to the table. Possibly the best enchiladas verdes I've ever had - will definitely be back!

Micah L.

Yelp
Don't forget an order of fried jalapeños. Taco taco taco taco taco taco taco taco taco 85 characters

Yelp
Best quesadillas in Oklahoma. Never disappointed with the love you get from here. Service is always great. And the owner is amazing and sweet always.
google avatar

Andrew K.

Yelp
Loved our visit. Pollo adobado was tasty. Four star food with five star service. Made extremely welcome. Owner was excellent. Easy to see why this place would be such a local institution. Salsas were all fairly spicy, so be prepared.

Jacklyn M.

Yelp
Worst Mexican food service, food, restaurant ever. Chips were stale, sauces were tasteless. fajitas were burnt, tasteless charred pieces of gristle. Green peppers and onions were burned. Beans had consistency of glue. Rice had no flavor and stuck together. "Salad" was weight down with a watery green sauce.
google avatar

Maria P.

Yelp
I will admit that I have never given 5 's, but I finally found a place that merits it. I love Mexican food and it has always been my top choice when traveling. All I have to say is that I am grateful for my fellow Yelpers who have helped me decide on places to eat when I am out and about. This place gets high marks for the freshness, quality and deliciousness of the food. The service was pretty good too!!! I didn't get an opportunity to take photos of the food ‍. My family was just ready to dig in to the tacos, quesadillas, guacamole and fajitas that we had ordered. The staff was friendly, happy and helpful. For me, this is a place I would stop by on a road trip. I would actually drive from a state away and enjoy a meal here.
google avatar

Roger C.

Yelp
This is the best Mexican food in Norman. No contest. Don't even go anywhere else. I had carne asada (basically just a seasoned and grilled steak) with the best rice and beans ever (black bean refried beans!). Lovely selection of tequila as well.
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
Tried this place out for the first time. The food was so good we tried one of each of their Sat night specials. Pork and chicken I can't recall what the actual name of the dishes were but they do have regular specials each day of the week. The meat was seasoned good and very tender. I wanted to try to many things. Emilio is the owner and the the bottom of the pic. He was very friendly and tries to greet everyone that walks in. Chris was the bartender and could make just about anything you could want. We will definitely go back and try other dishes.
google avatar

Leonard Y.

Yelp
Best Mexican Food in Oklahoma! Great atmosphere, great value and a fun place to dine.
google avatar

Nate H.

Yelp
A local favorite. Not Tex-mex, good food, delicious sauces. Great atmosphere. Burrito loco is a delicious choice. The food always tastes extremely fresh. During the COVID pandemic, they have a reduced menu, but the choices are still excellent. Definitely worth the visit. Please support local places like this during COVID.
google avatar

Lawrence C.

Yelp
Very good Mexican food. Chips and salsa are excellent and the plate selections are very tasty. Full bar and great service. Location is campus corner so you might have to hunt to find a place to park. The restaurant itself use to be Liberty D's decades back. Great memories and excellent food. Food is very fresh and the owner takes great pride in that. He should! I return there often.
google avatar

Kathy W.

Yelp
A foodies delight! This Norman tradition has some of the finest food in town. As stated by others this is not Tex Mex! If you're looking for fresh, authentic Mexican food look no further. Excellent margaritas and a nice beer selection. I was with a party of three and we all chose one of the Friday night specials. Excellen choices! It has a walk up counter to order food with good customer service. We would have sat at the bar but there wasn't an empty seat!! We sat at a comfortable booth and were served in an appropriate amount of time, enough time to visit and sip on our beverages. An overall wonderful dining experience.
google avatar

Tracy C.

Yelp
My favorite place in town. Authentic Mexican cuisine. Not like all of the heavily sauced tex mex - fresh and tasty. Best margaritas in town. Excellent salsa. Never had something not delicious and the staff is fantastic!
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
These people know how too cook I'm not lying one bit , great service, owner is a GOB !!! I need to go eat there, it's been years!!

Yelp
Stopped by here for lunch and was welcomed with lovely service. We're new to the area so this was our first time here and we were recommend #16 Burrito Loco. It was amazing. Perfect amount of spice and the layered sauces were yummy. We'll definitely be back!

Kathryn H.

Yelp
Authentic, fresh Mexican. Don't come expecting to find queso and sampler platters. Traditional dishes in a casual setting. Great food!

Dee P.

Yelp
Might have earned a 5 star, but I dislike ordering at the counter. Guacamole was great and a healthy serving portion, but a tiny bit too much lime flavor. Super fast service! Loco burrito was fantastic. All good as really well done, great job!

Andrea T.

Yelp
coming from a Latina... wtf is this food fr beans tasted like water and the fajitas were hard AS HELLLL. I recommend u to drive 40 Minutes to that birria place...
google avatar

Koda M.

Yelp
We sometimes come here after a OU game. You walk and up order like fast food but food is much more that that. Cashiers is welcoming and friendly, you get your own drinks and refills. Chips and salsa is great; crispy chips, 4 different salsas (green, red mild, hot habanero, guacamole.?) We got our meal # 2 Plato Mexicano in a timely manner, hot and fresh. The beef was tender and flavored well, while beans is what it is and rice was was tender. Nice place to get some drinks and grub before and after any game
google avatar

Abby B.

Yelp
Their nachos? Ooo! A big 10/10! I once asked someone what would be on their perfect nacho plate and we realized that both of our answers were just everything on the Pepe Nachos. And Im a vegetarian too so that is saying something!!
google avatar

Jen E.

Yelp
The loco burrito is massive! Shared and still couldn't finish. Salsa is incredible. Super fast and incredible service from Marcie.
google avatar

Keven M.

Yelp
Amazing food. I really like the salsas that come with that entrees. Plenty of TVs for football. Service couldn't have been any better. I got to try their daily special spicy pork which was out of this world. Their burritos can feed a small army. The potatoes are great as other reviews indicate.

Sheri G.

Yelp
Best authentic Mexican food in Norman, Oklahoma! Have been going there for years. The fish tacos, veggie burrito, and cheese enchiladas are my favorites!
