Yelp
Pepe's Finest Mexican Food stands out as one of the few Mexican establishments in Alhambra, apart from Taco Bell, that offers a convenient drive-thru service. This walk-up and drive-thru food shack holds a special place in the San Gabriel Valley (SGV), being one of the oldest Mexican eateries in the area since 1962. In addition to this location, Pepe's has other locations in Baldwin Park, Hacienda Heights, and Hawaiian Gardens.
[Parking]: The options are somewhat limited. A handful of private parking spaces can be found through the back alley, but the best bet is to seek street parking. Customers might need to search for an available street parking spot a block away due to the occasional high demand.
[Drive-thru]: The entrance can be a bit awkward, positioned off Valley Blvd. During busy lunch hours, it's common for cars to obstruct a portion of the main road causing some inconvenience.
[Menu]: Upon my first visit, I encountered a brief moment of confusion when I ordered a breakfast burrito from the cashier. She asked, 'Wet or dry breakfast burrito?' It turns out that Pepe's breakfast burrito is a wet burrito with one of three meat options - bacon, sausage, and ham as fillings. Additionally, their menu features an array of combo plates, including enchiladas, taquitos, tacos, chili relleno, carnitas/chicken/shredded beef/al pastor/carne asada/red or green chili pork, and more.

Pepe's Breakfast Burrito (wet burrito with bacon - $10.49): The portion size was truly impressive, providing enough leftovers for lunch. It was a classic LA burrito, generously packed with beans and potatoes. If you're a blue-collar worker in need of a high-calorie breakfast, this burrito is the way to go.
#8 Two Hard Tacos (can only pick one meat - carnitas, $10.99): While the tacos were not necessarily outstanding, the portion size remained unbeatable. The rice, beans, cheese, and avocado all came separately from the tacos. The red sauce provided was extremely spicy and too overpowering for my taste buds to handle.

All in all, Pepe's Finest Mexican Food delivers great value with its 3.5-star food. It's the kind of place where I can envision myself returning when I'm seeking a typical, standard, and somewhat satisfying Mexican food in Alhambra, without having to break the bank.
